Find The Ring (Erza Loveheart)

Erza walked up to the place where she had promised to meet her client Emy Milton. According to the Job Board, she had dropped her engagement ring in the river of Oak Town, and now wanted help to find it. Erza thought that it must be so silly to lose a thing of this much value in a river. She found it absurd.

She stopped near the inn, and looked around for some silly looking yet beautiful woman waiting desperately. But there was no one to be seen there except an old couple in their eighties. Placing her hands in the pockets of her hoodie jacket she waited. And suddenly from inside the inn came a woman just as Erza had imagined her to be. She was wearing a blue satin gown and clutching its ends as it was a little too long.

Turning towards her, Erza put her right hand out for a hand-shake and said, "I'm Erza Loveheart, a mage who happens to hear your problem. And I'm here to help you. I suppose you are Emy Milton."

With a terrified face Emy shook Erza's hand in return. It looked as if Erza was gonna eat her alive. 'She's in shock or what?' Erza thought to herself. Smiling and trying to sound as friendly as possible she asked her client, "So Madam, let's go near the river where you lost your beloved ring."
"Yes, I lost it when I was walking over the central bridge." she replied.
"Let's proceed there then, we can start the search there..."

And without waiting to see if Emy followed her or not Erza took off to the central bridge. She knew the way because she had seen the map of the city before coming there. "So Mam why don't you buy a new ring instead of trying to find the lost one?"

In reply to Erza’s question, Emy answered, “Well…. Basically, my fiancé gave it to me, and he’s really really rich and that ring itself is worth millions of jewels. Even if I manage to find that much money I won’t be able to buy another same looking ring because it’s the only one of its type in this entire world.”

“And you can’t tell your fiancé that you lost it?”
“No I can’t, even though he’s a nice guy he’s really emotional about such things. He’ll be really sad if I tell him that I lost it.”
Hearing this Erza felt a kind of responsibility for her client, as she never thought that the lost ring will be so valuable nor that it was so important for Emy. In her mind she decided that she will try her all to help Emy find her engagement ring.

With her little chat with the client, Erza hardly noticed that they had reached the starting point of the bridge. Turning towards Emy she asked, “So Mam, where did you lose your ring? I mean the exact place where it fell down the bridge?” She wondered herself why she called Emy; Mam. But thought that it would be right considering she was her client and also older than her.
“Here…” saying that, Emy moved a few steps ahead and pointed down the railing of the bridge and into the sparkling river of Oak Town.

“I was standing right here… And I was looking down in the river, as I admire it a lot. My hand was placed like this…” She kept her hand on the railing so that her fingers were pointing downwards. “And I never noticed that it fell down, till I started to walk ahead and tried to look at my ring. That’s when I noticed it was lost.”

“It must have been loose…”
“Yes, I guess it was. And adding the fact that I'm too careless”
Taking Emy’s left hand in hers, Erza looked at her ring finger. There were no signs of a ring; that is marks made by it. “Even perfect sized rings leave marks on your fingers for some time, but yours didn’t. It was surely quite loose.” Looking at Emy’s face Erza noticed that it had a lot of tension and worry written all over it. She smiled and said, "Don't worry we can surely hope that its stuck somewhere in the river or has just fallen on the bank.

“Don’t worry Emy, I’m sure we can find it.” Said Erza smiling, trying to cheer her client up.
But on a side note she thought, ‘What’s the use of buying expensive rings which don’t even fit your fingers, there’s a really high chance that they will get lost or will not be used, right?’

“Let’s start looking for your ring down in the river, as it’s the place where you say it fell right?”
“Sure.”
And placing her hands in the pockets of her purple hoodie, Erza took off to the ending of the bridge where there was supposed to be a flight of steps leading to the shore of the river. And surely there was such a bridge, taking it, Erza and Emy reached on the shore of the river. Looking up at the bridge; so as to determine the place from where the ring fell, Erza drew a straight line below at the shore calculating stuff in her mind.

“Let’s start looking for your ring down in the river, as it’s the place where you say it fell right?”
“Sure.”
And placing her hands in the pockets of her hoodie, Erza took off to the ending of the bridge where there was supposed to be a flight of steps leading to the shore of the river. And there was such a bridge, taking it, Erza and Emy reached one shore of the river. Looking up at the bridge; so as to determine the place form where the ring fell, Erza drew a straight line below at the shore.
“Come Emy, we have to start looking from there.” And took off to that place.

Reaching at that place, Erza sat down near the bank and looked up and down at the river. The current was quite strong and it was highly possible that the ring followed the current and reached miles away. Their only hope was that the ring must have been stuck in between some rocks in the river. Erza was looking in the crystal clear water as carefully as possible. ‘It’s good that the water is not dirty or muddy, otherwise it would have been some hard labour for me to find it.’

As she was thinking this, Erza thought that she saw something sparkling in the river. And sure enough, it was the ring!! It was stuck in between three small stones. It was as if the stones knew the value of the ring and had formed a little throne for it.

Standing up quickly in her excitement, Erza grabbed Emy’s hand and pointed her own to the ring. “See??! Your ring Emy”
“Yes! Yes! Its my ring… But how will we take it out? The current’s quite strong.”
“I think you forgot that I’m a mage.” Said Erza jokingly.
Looking at the ring, Erza pointed her right hand to it and out came a red, thin thread like substance out of her index finger. It was Aura Gum, and it had the ability to be invisible to everyone except the caster and also to stick to things. Erza stuck Aura Gum on the stone of the ring and with a flick of her wrist pulled it out. To Emy, it must have seemed like the ring flew out of the water. Placing the ring in her client’s hand, Erza smiled.
“Thank you very much Erza, you just saved my life you know that?”
“Yeah, and I’m happy for it.”
“Here’s your reward….” Saying that Emy placed a bag full of what seemed like jewels.
As her job was done, Erza bade goodbye to Emy and took off to her Guild Headquarters.
