Famine watched wearily through the dark laboratory room as Sol ambled from one end of the room to another, picking up the folder which their client had handed to them when they arrived, famine stepped forward through the aby, ramming right into a table she. She let out a small noise, blushing in embarrassment having been masked by the dark, she laid a hand on the corner of the surface and pushed herself away. Much to the mages surprise a cold and somewhat dried residue stuck to her fingertips that had touched the surface. it smelt of copper, a scent often associated with blood. Famine felt a little uneasy know, rubbing her hand off on her clothes and bumping into sol now when she tried to catch up. Dust wafted from the long-abandoned keypad and when Sol forced his way through the door the hinges creaked in protest, door unwilling to open for them. She squeezed herself through after him and even in the dimness encompassing them she could make out a long room that was narrow on its sides, she could feel tangled wires at her feet and see the little pixels blink in the corners of a few screens that still kept battery power from an unknown source, but clearly not enough to boot up the rest of the lights or the computers on the other side of the labs.
"I think we actually were chased in the right direction, Sol,” she said to her ace when she nudged past him and stepped closer to the carts of electronics in the room, servers, extended outlets, you name it, it was there. She was looking around the room when she stepped forwards her leg got caught on the handle of an object on the floor she rebalanced herself and put her hand on the top of the box-like shape. Wait, this felt like it, the generator.
In the not so distant distance there was the snapping of bolts and the clanking of a thin chain of sorts tumbling to the ground, then a tapping like the pattering feet of a light but multi-legged creature, then the crackling little cry of a beast completely alien to Famine. She slowed her breathing to listen to whatever was making the sound; trying to track it as it came closer.
However, before she could activate the generator her hand sat on she realized the scuttering footsteps weren't coming from the ground but above and on the ceiling. Famine rolled out of the way,
“Move! Then get the generator turned on---” she shouted abruptly as she stepped backwards in the darkness after the shape dropped from the ceiling in front of them. Famine had its attention and, though a bit frantic, she nodded in the dark towards the generator, begging Sol with her eyes to get it working.
Famine in her fleeing steps backwards bumped into a desk table at the end of the power room, knocking over a cup of aged office utensils. From It, Famine grabbed blindly in the darkness retrieving a pair of scissors which she sunk into the experiments pliable flesh, and as soon as she had she felt the skin of it clenching around the scissors which now sunk into their body as though to ingest.
A moment passed where Famine blinked as though dumbfounded and heard a sound she could only describe as grotesque following the shifting of their flesh, insect-like front legs split into two blade points as though to replicate the scissors. Famine ducked just as the bladed claw hit the head where her head once was and slid under its scissor arm. If Sol did his part and finally got that generator to run in her stead Famine would rush back to the door with him. They needed to get up the elevator loft and to the tech lab up a few floors.
