"Alright, Delta! We have less than six hours to get this tot to walk!" Eve announced cheerfully as she hoisted the little boy up into the air with two hands. Her eyes glimmered with a hint of mischief as she spun around in the air, letting the child dangle in the air and spin as well. He seemed to be slightly sick to his stomach after a few seconds of it, at least judging by his expression. Still, since no verbal complaints were made, Eve continued with her antics until the naiad finally stood up from where she had been dozing on the client family's couch.
"Soup, what the hell are you doing now?" she sighed lowly before grasping the mage's shoulders firmly in her hands and forcing the girl to stay put.
"We're supposed to teach him how to walk, not undo the anti-vomiting training he's doing. Also, you're wrecking the carpeting," the nymph pointed out drily as the violet haired female rubbed her toes heavily against the floor.
"Walk, boy, walk!" the purple headed girl exclaimed, going head to head with the kid in a staring contest. Despite his lingering seasickness from her choice to twirl like a ballerina, he actually seemed to be winning; that was, until Eve blatantly cheated and screamed bloody murder in his face.
"Don't be so petty. Plus, you're going to get us arrested for child abuse," the naiad mumbled darkly.
"No way, listen up Delta I got this-" Just then, the boy slumped towards the ground, going limp in Evelyn's arms. She promptly panicked and was about to shake the figure like a rag doll when Delta kneed her comrade in the gut and cradled the toddler as soon as the loud mage had let go. It was only a ruse, though, because as soon as he was no longer falling towards the ground the little guy promptly began screaming and kicking out of the sprite's supposedly secure embrace.
Somehow, she managed to hold on, and together with her co-conspirator Eve, a plan to force him to walk was stealthily devised. And by stealthily, I mean-- shoot, who's the narrator here? Anyway, by stealthily what the world really means is that they discussed it openly while Delta detachedly held the boy as still as she could possibly make it. His kicks against her back (the position he had been put in was basically slung over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes) were nothing more than patters of rain on a rooftop.
"Listen up boy!" the red eyed girl said with an unnecessary amount of loudness. Oh well, the scare factor in the boy was well worth the surprised wince of her companion.
"I'm gonna teach you how to walk! My friend over there is named Delta- say hi Delta," the named faerie waved obediently, although her eyebrow twitched at the mage's gameshow host attitude.
"Delta's gonna give you candy if you walk. Otherwise-""Otherwise we'll take you home with us," the naiad said in a voice almost sweet, but with undertones of... something that made the kid shudder.
"That wasn't exactly what I planned to say, but good job Delta!" Eve loudly continued with a hearty laugh that probably seemed suspiciously cheery to the boy.
Needless to say, he walked for his parents (Delta says he ran) when they came home.
