☸ RACE ME I DARE YOU ☸ Empty ☸ RACE ME I DARE YOU ☸

Post by Ainsley 13th April 2017, 5:13 pm

Walking through the forest was tough going.  Maybe it had something to do with the fact that Ainsley had neglected to wear anything somewhat practical.  It could have possibly been related to the fact that she was miserably lost.  Or, it could be because of her obsessive tendency to stop and examine every single berry that she passed by.  Either or any would hopefully work as the excuse the blonde would owe the client when she finally made it to the tiny clearing where he supposedly lived.  She was, after all, sixteen minutes late on the dot.

Nonetheless, a bright beaming smile was spread wide across her face as the young woman swung her arms childishly, skipping through the undergrowth of the forest as best she could.  Her nylons caught on twigs and ripped; the little holes would undoubtedly cause runs that would later result in stress for Ainsley.  These were, after all, her only pair.  She never planned ahead and washed them at two am every morning when she realized that they were needed the next day.  Similarly, her blazer was streaked with dirt, the smears quite clear against the powder blue.  Is that belladonna over there? she gasped silently as a small cluster of dark berries came into her sight.  The distinctive flowers weren't to be seen, but the season could easily have been appropriate for them to be missing.  Ainsley had been looking for nightshade for ages; although some versions were cultivated to be toxic, it could make an excellent dye and flavoring if prepared correctly.  Rdere would help her if it really was the elusive plant: belladonna rarely was seen in these parts of Fiore!

The blonde excitedly tromped over to the plant and squatted down next to it.  She knew better than to touch the stem and leaves, but the berries just looked so tantalizing.  Even knowing that she would regret it, the young woman reached out to pluck the small bunch when her sleeve caught on something.  Frowning, Ainsley turned to stick out her tongue childishly at the tree branch that her coat had apparently caught on.  Well, fine then! she huffed after finally realizing that it couldn't come undone.  I'll just leave my coat right here and come back for it later.  Stupid forest.  With plenty of sighs, Ainsley struggled out of her jacket and flopped to the ground as soon as she was loose.  Her cheek was pressed against the soil for only a couple seconds before the blonde leaped up triumphantly.  "Right then!  Off to the house we go~"

It wasn't far away from where she had left her beloved blazer.  When the young woman emerged from the tree line to see the quaint little residence with the cliff a little ways beyond, her eyes widened with awe.  "So pretty!" she gasped.

Ainsley stiffened as a murmer of a voice reached her ears, and she hurried over in the direction of the cottage.  Nobody was visible... maybe they were in front?  She was at least, oh well, maybe twenty-five minutes late now.  "Sumimasen!  Forgive me!  I got caught up with a little bit of trouble!" the girl called.

OOC: Using the second appearance for it, so 4/5/6 for the pictures list, yes I was lazy with my profile and I am sorry for that XD

A request had come in from a man who needed ingredients found. He didn't say much beyond what grew on the mountain so that gave Aurora's mind free reign to wonder what types of ingredients were wanted. She could think wholesome thoughts about how the man wanted some berries to put into a nice pie or some plants to make medicine, but this was Aurora so of course she didn't think that; instead she thought about how the man was probably trying to get a bunch of kids to scour the mountain for his "medicinal" collection. it would be incredibly easy to just trick a bunch of new mages to go and collect his little "ingredients", but Aurora knew that she had to be the responsible one, she needed to make sure that those who were just starting their journey weren't going to be tricked into doing anything which was fishy or illegal. As one of the most responsible people in the world, Aurora would make sure that nothing illegal would happen.

Taking a swig of her gin Aurora managed to make to the man's house only half intoxicated. This was a wonderful feat as it meant she could become fully intoxicated while at the house, or gathering, or really whenever she felt like it. She didn't pay attention to the time and was instead looking at the scenery when she noticed that there was something amiss. No, it wasn't the fact that she had just run out of booze but the fact that there was some kind of coat on a bush. It looked stuck tight, but Aurora was an expert of getting things out of tight spots, just like she was an expert at everything else. As she tried to tug on it, her expert opinion stated that she wasn't good enough to pull it free quite yet, but she would be back for it, and with far fewer powers of self-restraint!

While Aurora knew she would be late so she hurried it up a bit, so she approached the location with a bit a rapid jaunt in her step as opposed to the lazy walk before. Arriving just in time to see a girl start to yell an apology about being late, Aurora decided to do the only logical thing. Run right up behind her, hold her right hand high like she was trying to get the teachers attention and yell...

"I'm late too! Now, who wants to pa--- uh I pleasure to meet all of you."

Was it weird? Yes. Was it awkward? Yes. Did I not know how to make an introduction just now? Most certainly.

Leila Vergious • Golden Phoenix • C Rank

The young Eden witch was not really on her way anywhere specific, nor was she pursuing contracts and jobs of any kind. She merely wanted to take a walk in the Serene cliffs and woods that were present nearby to the location, as she adored the atmosphere of such place greatly. What she did not expect, however, was the fact that she was not alone out here. A rather large and somewhat menacing figure was walking right beside her, something that appeared to be the new norm for Leila. While she herself did not mind this in the slightest, the sigh of a mechanical golem who's height was well over 8 feet could probably scare many others that could be out here as well. Not to mention that he was also wearing the usual military coat over his metallic body, perhaps giving off a wrong impression at times.

"Do you really not have anything else to wear, father? Something little bit more comfortable for instance..."

They would not stop as they they started the conversation, instead, they continued on walking through the trees as the shade of many leaves hid their frames from the peering sun, allowing for the cool breeze to caress their skin. Or at least skin of the one who was actually alive in this rather odd duo.

"Other attire is not required for me. I am unable to feel discomfort from clothes alone. Besides, this outfit was designed to last throughout my entire journey across Earthland. While it may not appear like that, it is of the highest quality."

It made sense. As far as Leila remembered, he always wore this. Yup, no matter how many years back she would look, this guy was completely unchanging. But that too was not a bad thing, really. Though it depended how one looked at the situation as a whole. Thoughts like that were quickly interrupted, as something uncommon moved into the girl's field of vision, however. A large piece of coat stuck to a bush nearby? With a hurried step, she quickly got into a kneeling position in front of it to investigate. It was not any simple cloth, but a whole blazer it turned out. And it looked like someone tugged it at forcefully not too long ago?

"Don't tell me someone fell into the bushes and got injured? No, I don't see any blood... in any case..."

Holding her hand over the shrubbery, her magic started doing it's thing, commanding the fauna all around. And in mere seconds, the blazer was freed as the small branches moved and retreated momentarily. Perks of magic that is connected to nature itself, it comes in handy from time to time. Now the question was, who lost this here? Wearing something like this in place such as this was probably not the greatest idea to begin with, so it wasn't all that surprising. Although Leila was one to talk, as she too had her combat outfit on right now. An attire that provided many opportunities to get stuck somewhere. Though she did love nature and learned how to avoid situations like that by now, thankfully.

"My sensors are picking up increased organic activity nearby. From common analysis, it's probably that owner of this piece could be found there."

Simply nodding to the golem, the girl started walking towards this new destination at accelerated pace. And soon, she would find herself in front of a hut and what appeared to be two girls, freshly arrived here. Both clearly young and rather energetic, was one of them the victim of that bush by any chance? Well, there was really only one way she could find out and that was by asking them directly.

"Um... excuse me ladies, but is one of you missing this by any chance?"

Ainsley was not one to scare easily.  She had been through so many kitchen disasters, and panic was a rare thing.  In this case, however, she jumped nearly a meter up in the air when she heard a female voice close behind her.  "AHH!" she screamed before taking off at a sprint and refusing to even look behind her.  She could barely even process what had been said, but all she knew was that Someone snuck up behind me!  There must be all manner of scary monsters in this forest!  We need help!  Someone has to get this old man out of here before he-- ow!"  The blonde had walked straight into the chest of someone else and promptly knocked them over.  "EHH?   I'm sorry!" she gasped, scrambling to her feet and reaching over to help up the elderly man.  He spat in her direction and the young woman ducked, the wad of spittle flying over her head.  Hopefully it didn't hit that monster from before.  Actually, she hoped it did!  With a huff, Ainsley grabbed the man by the wrists and pulled him up with all her strength, setting the poor man back up on his feet.

As soon as he was situated, he  began to yell at her.  "All you good for nothing little mages, you're not worth my underpants!  Take those baskets yonder and collect food right now because you all sure as hell are late!  And don't expect any pay either, you all are gonna pay fer your disrespectfulness, you hear me?"  The blonde flinched back with every word she said, until she slammed into the side of the small house and hacked out a breath.  Blinking to wash away the tears that threatened to come, she noticed a girl with silvery hair coming down from the side to the front of the house.  Ainsley leaped up and sprinted over to her, forgetting all about the client.  Again.

"Onee-chan!  Your hair is so pretty!  Let me touch it~ it's like it's made from spider silk!  What shampoo do you use?"  As she was babbling on about the girl's hair, the female noticed a shape nearby.  It was actually an adorable girl, with green hair and the biggest eyes she had maybe ever seen.  The girl was drinking from a bottle, though, and judging by her expression it was probably the happy stuff.  Wait, was that the person who was behind me?  He or she smelled like alcohol and said something about... being late... and pleasure to meet me... oh no.  She waved her hands frantically in the air and shouted, "I'm sorry for anything I've done wrong, miss!"  Behind her, the man was still spluttering things about his back and how rude they all were, but Ainsley paid no attention for now.

Between the sudden arrivals, the blonde girls freak outs and the older man yelling at them Aurora thought this must be the circus, except no children are crying and the clowns aren't trying to murder people. Did that really make it like the circus? Maybe it did, maybe it didn't but the point is that everything was turning up whacky right now, also the jacket had been recovered. That probably called for a drink, but Aurora figured that the one girl who was frightened was under age, the other girl looked the part a bit as well, and the attitude of the older man indicated that he was, in fact, a child so he couldn't drink. Darn, she supposed that in the end, she was the only one who could end up partaking of this little event, oh well. Many would assume that her logic for this decision stemmed from her dislike of sharing with others but that simply wasn't true, Aurora simply flunked kindergarten and never learned how to share in the first place!

The simple exchange happened fast and the man just kept yelling at the three of them. Didn't matter to Aurora she simply pulled out a new bottle, popped it open and a took a drink from it. The jacket had found its owner, the crisis was solved that called for a drink. Wait, no, the crisis was getting the man his may twentieth supply of medicine, darn and here she thought the job was already done, oh well. The blonde girl apologized to Aurora to which she just waved her hand.

"It's fine, don't beat yourself up about it, my appearance is terrifying to behold I know. Many have run from me in the past out of fear, or was it because they hated my company? Eh, oh well, the old man never shuts up over there probably wants us to grab the ingredients for his special brownies or something."

Looking around to find the bag, Aurora figured that it would be pretty big, but apparently, it was small. Little did she realize it was somehow the size of her body, which indicated she wasn't that tall. How was it the size of her body? The job description said it was so whatever this guy is obviously a secret stalker of all three of our protagonists or something.

"Oh right, my name is Aurora or whatever, nice to meet the two of you, well uh, two and one really tall dude. I guess before the old man dies of an aneurysm we should go and take care of this job huh?"

    "P..pardon?"

Was Leila's very first reaction when the blonde girl suddenly jumped in front of her and started talking as if she had met an idol of some sort. Not that she would mind being adored by someone else, it was just a rather interesting first meeting to say the least. Others were usually not so active when introducing themselves, asking questions as to what shampoo you use. Well, it was still the good ol' Fiore it seemed, filled with unique individuals that could easily spice up one's day and change the entire atmosphere in one go just like that.

"I mean, if you want then feel free to touch it. As long as you don't tug on it and such. I also don't really use a shampoo, just an extract from certain flowers in Eden. And judging by the rest of your attire, I imagine this blazer is yours?"

Ah, only once the words were said Leila realized this girl would probably have no idea what "Eden" is. The dimension was slowly fading away from the records of magic as it lost it's popularity. But that was probably for the best anyway, as Gardens of Eden deserved to be left alone in piece, so that they could thrive once more. Handing the girl her jacket for now, the Eden's mage would turn around to see this other girl that was present, as well as her mechanical father who was only now catching up as he did not exactly bother running after her. He would only analyze the company here before turning his eye-less gaze back at his adopted daughter and then the old man.

"This even was not planned as a part of our walk. I apologize, but we are not here for this contract and thus have no desire in partaking in it.As such, I would appreciate it if you could cease your complaints and show respect instead."

Well, that was the nameless golem alright. Leila could only sigh as she looked at the basket which was surprisingly tall. Gathering supplies didn't really seem like it would be too much of a hassle. And this company was certainly something interesting so why not stay around and help out a little when she could? Especially if there was some possible reward involved as well. And even if there wasn't one, why not help out a man in need. Even if he was kinda rude. Perhaps it would be different if he knew that Leila over here was couple of thousand years old ex-goddess. Or maybe not.

"It's okay, father. We might as well help while we're here. It's not like we had any other destination in mind, right? Ah, name's Leila Vergious, wandering mage of Golden Phoenix!"

With that said, the golem would reluctantly stare into empty space for a moment before nodding and approaching one of he baskets, lifting it above his head with extreme ease. If they were meant to be carrying anything at all, then he would take his daughter's share on his own accord. A protective father indeed, sometimes to a fault.

☸ RACE ME I DARE YOU ☸ Empty Re: ☸ RACE ME I DARE YOU ☸

Post by Ainsley 15th April 2017, 5:00 pm

At the dark haired woman's words, Ainsley wanted to throw her arms around the female's waist and squeeze her into a hug.  Instead, she opted for a "You're not scary!" and beamed at her until she felt like it could be getting a little bit creepy.  When that point came, she returned her attention to the silvery haired girl, who had seemed a little bit unnerved by her actions.  To fix that, the blonde clapped her hands and tried not to hug tackle the other mage into the dirt.  Right, so now her jacket was back!  Snatching it from the girl's hands, she slipped it on and proudly buttoned the first button.  Then she unbuttoned it because it was uncomfortable and scratched her head, staring at the greenish, dark haired girl.  Aurora was her name, right?~

"I love meeting you too!  What's an anyerism?" she babbled questioningly and not altogether too logically.  Then so as to not ignore their new friend, she skipped the little ways over to stand in front of the one who was taller than her, but seemed to be a little bit shorter than Aurora.  Well, it was hard to tell in this grass, so who really knew?  "And I like you, Leila Vergilus!  Virgous!  Vergilos!" the mage flailed her arms around her head.  Something felt off about her name the first time the blonde said it, so the girl tried repeating it over and over with slight alterations.  Nothing seemed to fit, so she hit the ground in a dogeza and screamed-- on second thought, she toned it down for courtesy's sake.  Hopefully her emphatic-ness would still come through.

"Sumimasen deshita!" she bowed frantically and then jumped up.  It was rude not to wait for a response, but she had just realized that she had ignored Aurora too and her suggestion to take care of the job hunt!  She had been so distracted about anyerisms and yams and... wait what?  "Nani??" she gasped as she picked up one of the baskets and set it upright on the ground.  "It fits me perfectly!  And yours fits you too, Aurora-san!  Don't worry, old man uh, san, we'll bring you back your ingredients!  Race you all!" she announced excitedly before bounding away into the forest.  Ainsley was always on a sugar rush.  Inside the trees, there didn't seem to be much in the way of ingredients that would make for a good eating.  Eating?  Was that a word?  Hmm, maybe the write thing was meal?  Was it write or right?  Ainsley tried to picture her words in her head and discovered that it was probably write, since right was a direction.  Right?  No, write?

She flailed her arms and caught her blazer on another tree branch.  That didn't matter, though, because she had spotted a clump of berries and they were definitely nightshade!  "I found belladonna!" she called out loudly so the others could come and collect it both to give to the old man and maybe keep a berry or two.

OOC: Sorry for the delay, school was murdering me.

Ainsley is at best, a spazz. Leila is calm and collected. Aurora is a drunk. The dream team to handle collecting plants right? A barrage of questions and a flurry of conversation was beholden to Aurora, too bad she didn't much notice behind a bit of intoxication. Everything was moving so fast but she wanted to move slow and relax, and she secretly hoped that the client would pass out dead from yelling so much. This dude must have needed that fix really bad. To be frank, Aurora would have answered all questions if the blonde hadn't dashed off so fast. Turning to Leila Aurora would simply shrug and nod.

"Well that one sure is a firecracker. Let's try and not look inept compared to her enthusiasm."

Picking up the basket behind her back, Aurora noticed how it wouldn't even be strong enough to carry the normal rations of booze that she desired, but plants and such were probably a different story. They didn't weigh as much, though the only thing Aurora could think to find was more naughty plants, and thus she would go off on her little joking adventure to find them, behind his house. Laughing a bit to herself as she waved towards the silver haired maiden as she left the house and went out back, Aurora couldn't help but wonder if he actually was growing anything outside. Sure enough, after she leaped over a fence she found it, the pot park of destiny. She was only joking, but due to poor writing on TAK's part, he now had an entire field in his backyard. This explained why he was so mad, if only she had Cheetos on her this would go better, or if she was a fire wizard and could burn all of it.

Shrugging Aurora pulled some of the plants and placed them in the bag because this guy was certainly going to make something for a party. Oh and she also decided to pick up her communication lacrima and alert the authorities on what was being grown up here, that would sure bring a few laughs later on. That was his punishment for yelling at them, and even though people made fun of the rune knights and other law enforcement groups this guy would certainly not be laughing later on.

Returning to the house hoping that everyone got their Share Aurora would place the basket down and smirk, knowing what she had done would certainly be hilarious later.

Well, this encounter was certainly going in ways that the girl could not even imagine under normal circumstances. But the energy that was flowing through the blonde girl was somewhat refreshing from the otherwise depressed and lazy world that the Eden's maiden had to traverse these days. And if the tall golem wasn't around, then maybe she would try to be as energetic as well. She was actually quite cute with the way she was flailing and trying to impress them all while not making anyone feel left out. It was something that should be appreciated for sure.

"Just Leila is fine, no need to worry about it~"

She would remark, her tone dancing more on the playful side as well now. In a flurry of more flails and words, the girl eventually bolted off into the distance, disappearing between the trees. Somehow, Leila felt as if that could not end well. Turning towards this Aurora, she let out a somewhat satisfied sigh. Aurora... that name rang a familiar bell. Perhaps there was another Golden Phoenix member who went by the same name? Or perhaps that was just another one of her mistakes that were happening ever since the girl came back from the dead, events that she remembered but ones that may or may not have ever really happened. In any case, they were both agreeing on the third member of this rather interesting team.

"You've said that right. The young of this world... they can certainly be quite beautiful in their own way. It almost makes me feel like I have to protect such innocence from the harsher side of life."

Her words were probably strange for the other female, but in the end, they would both go their own ways as the drunk disappeared, a sound of 4th wall shattering following sharply. Now it was just her and her golem standing there. But not for too long, as the machias activated his wings of steel and moving cogs, taking to the air with the basket in his hands and quickly disappearing in the distance without a single word. He really tried his best, but the silver haired girl sometimes wished that his creator would install better communication system. With no basket to fill, she would quickly turn towards the woods and take after Ainsley. Thankfully, she managed to find her rather effortlessly. And of course, her clothes were once more fighting with the local flora. With a snap of her fingers, the bushes and trees around would start moving away from them, the twigs and branches shying away and letting the fabric go gently.

"You should be more careful, dear. The nature here means you no harm, but you need to move in unison with it if you don't want to have your beautiful attire tarnished."

Smiling along with those words, she would kneel down next to the energetic female and help her gather whatever they could find in order to fill her basket. And after some time, the trio would once more gather in front of the hut. Trio for now, but soon, the golem soared back, piercing the clouds and landing on the ground next to them in a powerful motion. The basket he stole from Leila now placed on the ground as well, everyone could see that it was filled with fresh fish, packed to the brim. Someone worked unnecessarily hard it seemed...

Ainsley's jaw dropped when she saw Leila come soaring into her vision, well walking actually, to help her untangle herself. The blonde beamed happily as her jacket was detached from all the brambly bits that had caught in the fabric, even though there were several tears left. Her eyes glimmered with unshed tears as she threw her arms around the pale haired girl and sobbed a "Thank you Leila-san!" before remembering that the mage had said to only call her Leila. Before she could supplicate herself on the ground in apology, the young woman noticed that her new companion was already gathering herbs that were in the area, including the belladonna. "Ehh? You're so diligent, Leila-san!" she gasped and then clapped a hand over her mouth after she noticed her mistake for the second time.

"Anou... we'd better get back to Aurora-san, hai? Let's go~" With that, she bounded away after trying to snatch the basket from the other girl's hands. It would definitely not be proper to let somebody else do all the work, so on their way back to the house she collected all the plants that were in her sight. Soon the woven container was full to the brim, packed even, with every single green thing that Ainsley had noticed on her trip. Honestly, only a fifth of them were probably edible. That was only highlighted by the fact that when they got back, there was a basket stuffed with fish sitting on the ground in front of the hut, and the blonde gasped even louder than before. "You're so hardworking, Leila's chichi-ue! I wish my dad was..." the girl trailed off before she burst into tears and threw her basket down in front of the man.

He appeared to not even notice that half the things weren't edible, because he picked up the mass of green and inspected it barely at all before tossing the basket next to the one filled with fish. "You imbeciles! I demanded herbs, did you hear me? Herbs!
I'm a strict vegetarian and I don't eat fish-- what the hell is that?"
He turned and choked when he saw what Aurora was holding, and Ainsley peered around the man to get a good look as well. "I-I didn't have any of that in my garden! What the hell? Is that what the breaking sound was from earlier? Get out of my sight you stupid mages!" He stomped back into the house just as a helicopter landed and a group of soldiers armed to the teeth popped out. "There has been a report of illegal drugs being witnessed in this area," one said stoically, and the blonde just cried. So much for her first job...
