Having gotten hold of one of those oh-so covvetted pieces of plastic by means of avian assault on a mass of innocents, Kaori headed over to the place with the metal birds. While she knew their official names were planes, air ships, or aircrafts; Kaori didn't like those names. Plains were vast fields of flat land, normally covered in wide grass that was waist high. They shone beautifully when wind swept over them, turning shades and forming waves with each gust. Air Ships made Kaori think of boats made of air, which would be cool to see, sounded impossible to make. And Air Craft, while it did sound like a reasonable name, still made her think it was a play on words, another name for something made of air. Metal bird however, sounded much more sensible. The book said they were made of metal mostly, and from what she saw, they flew high up like a bird- just like Kaori would soon. She had enough money to go from the sity by the east sea to the city by the west sea, a city roumored to be littered with magic and magic users from different magic using clans. There was work to do there as well, and with that Kaori had all the excuses she'd need to make a viable request for one of the castle clans' people to give her that money.

The ride was short, much shorter than Kaori expected. Normally such a trip would have required a month on foot, and had many hardships along the way. Exiting the metal bird, Kaori followed the other people till she found a way out of the building they called an 'airport' for some reason. Kaori had renamed it in her mind to the metal nest, since it's the place where the metal birds ate, slept, and were protected by people with guns. The job she was performing in the city was simple, and something she could do till night when the city at the west sea would begin to shine with magic. Kaori was to help with a gathering where people voluntarily were stung by mosquitoes, and let large quantities of blood be harvested. Kaori figured it would be to sacrifice to some strange blood goddess, but when she arrived she was puzzled to learn it was to be put into different people.

Not wanting to seem uneducated, Kaori decided to go along with the blood harvesters and read up about the strange gathering back at the magic clans' castle on the eastern sea. Because her mask was somewhat intimidating, she wasn't able to work with the children, or the people who had been eating for fear of scaring the food out of them. She was asked to sit at the registration desk and have people sign in, which she did without complaint. Afterwards, the harvesters provisioned her with some food that was left over and thanked Kaori for her help before sending her on her way.

Kaori had waited around at the town's center until nightfall. She wanted to see the city light up with magic as the books said it did. And just as they books described, one by one small rocks began to glow in brilliant colors. Trees began shimmering, and performers entered the streets she walked down to perform magic. The spells they cast were all silly, weak, and useless spells but were amazing to look at as the performers put on shows with them. Under her mask, Kaori's eyes lit up with wonder and a large smile grew on her face at the marvel. She didn't think it was good that her clan died, but she knew that if they didn't die she would have never set out to kill their murderers. If she didn't do that, she would have never made her way to the places that lead to her being here.
