The job
Gangting woke up from the shouts and screams from the townsfolk outside. He opened his eye's and looked beside's him, Chu was still in a deep sleep so he left her be. He climbed out of bed and geared up. He walked down the stairs to the taproom, the owner of the inn was in all state's. he was running from the tap to the cellars with a sack of coins. Gangting asked him what was going on after he came back. "Desert Raiders have been seen coming this way!" Said the innkeeper. "The city is guarded so why do you bother with hiding your gold?" Asked Gangting him. "The citie's guard commander has fled!" Said the Innkeeper, his voice made it clear that he despised him.
"What!" Shouted Gangting 'Why! This city has an army!" but even before the Innkeeper could say something he had left. Gangting ran outside and went on his way to the palace. The guards wanted to stop him but he simply bashed through any attempt to stop him. He pushed the big wooden doors open that let into the main hall. He walked with big steps into the throne room where the king said desperately in his chair. "Dammed that Varius, why did he leave us! What must we do to protect our selfs?" Another man, a counsellor replied, "We should pay them tribute instead of fighting them, we won't lose any men that way. And there is now change we will win a fight with them in this state of crisis." "Don't be a fool!" Shouted Gangting. The people in the room were shocked, whispers went around "How did he get in.". Gangting slowed his walk and went on with speaking "If you need a commander for your armies then I will take up that task if no other will!". The king said to his counsilors "We should give him the command." But the councillors rejected it "But sire, we don't know this man. What if he conspires against us?" Ïf I were conspiring against you, why would I have an objection against tribute?" The counsellor didn't have a thing to say on that and the king looked at both men. "It is settled, you will lead my army." "You won't regret that decision" Said Gangting as he left the room. "Let everyone know that he is the new commander, said the King," Said King, one of the heralds went on his way to inform the others and to let the word known.
Gangting went to Boulder, he didn't take the time to set up the saddle. He simply jumped on the back of Boulder and stood on top of him. Together they marched to the field where the army was deployed. Gangting spoke to the men. "I'm your new commander, that coward before me had no worthiness to be called commander at all and shouldn't have enjoyed the honour to be your commanding officer! I plan to earn that respect from you! By making us win over them." Said Gangting aloud with a deep voice as he pointed to the desert. You all should listen to me henceforth and then we shall achieve victory!.
