So, being a voice actor I am rightfully a fan of other voice actors. Whether I know them personally or not. Ever since I was a kid, I've had an ear for voices and I became very familiar with different actors in my favorite cartoons, anime, and video games pretty early on. I suppose you can say my career is the ultimate extension of my fandom and idolization of the actors that shaped my life as a kid. So as such, I often imagine actors' voices and performances when I read dialogue in novels and on RP forums.
So I pose this question; who are your characters voiced by? Which actors do you feel bring the right voice and performance to capture your character? This could help others with imagining your character as they read your posts and I find it's just fun to see what people come up with. Just post your characters and who voices them with examples of characters they've done in the past to show how they would perform your character's many nuances.
For myself, I have technically three characters so far with Atsu since his summons are the souls of the long departed. I think these actors are most fitting for them individually.
Atsusemimaru - Voiced by Liam O'Brien (Illidan Stormrage, Akihiko from Persona 3, Gaara in Naruto, Taishi in Comic Party)
Liam brings that perfect laid-back edge and drawl to his performance for Atsu, but he can also do intimidating and dramatic flawlessly. He's wonderful at going from 0-60 real quick. Atsu has many sides so it requires a versatile actor. The man has a lot of theatrical experience and is a wonderful character actor.
Hyouryu - Troy Baker (Kanji in Persona 4, Booker DeWitt in BioShock: Infinite, Yuri in Tales of Vesperia, Sam Drake in Uncharted 4)
As with most people, I'm a huge fan of Troy Baker. The man is an incredible actor and has come so far from his early days with FUNimation. I knew he was gonna go far back then and I was right. He's right right up there with the greats in video games like Nolan North and Steve Blum these days. The man can play just about any kind of character, but for Hyouryu, I'm looking at the characters listed above specifically. He is great at playing characters that have rough edges while giving subtle hints that there may be more to them than just sandpaper.
Mistuhide - J. Michael Tatum (Sebastian in Black Butler, Isaac Dian in Baccano!, Garista in Tales of Vesperia, Komui in D. Gray Man)
I almost went with Liam O'Brien for this character and switched my pick for Atsu because he does drama queens incredibly well, but I feel J. Michael Tatum brings a certain elegance that fits Mitsuhide so well. He is well known for voicing sophisticated characters and the timbre of his voice just works perfectly for this lover of flowers and beauty.
