    Job:

Excitement... Not a word Kiru would usually use. So why was she searching for something similar? Had her days gotten stale since the destruction of the old guildhall? Was the heated battle that ended their previous home really the last thing that felt like it gave Kiru a sense of enjoyment? Not that anyone would notice anyways. The Demon Slayer tended to be anti-social. But this wasn't meant for others. This was for herself. She needed something to do, and she needed it fast. That's why she found herself staring at the new job board posted inside the Silver-Moon inn.

Her gaze shifted lazily from paper to paper, not noticing anything that really sparked her interest. Her hands behind her back, Kiru leaned closer to spot ONE job that seemed to stick out. It was worth the look. Apparently this job was asking whoever wanted to accept it, to kill the contractor... The person who posted this request wanted a warrior's death? And it was the person who accepted the odd request's responsibility. Not that surprising, but the reward was immense. Kiru couldn't help but wonder if there was some sort of ulterior motive. The location was known to be very dangerous...

Without thinking too hard on it, the two toned hair colored girl plucked it from it's standing. She observed the paper closely, taking a mental note of the picture on it. Maybe this could help her find what she was looking for.

Magna stood calmly at the bar with a slight note of satisfaction upon his face. Things were going rather well for him since the move to Rose Garden. He certainly got a lot more customers and when he was off duty there was plenty nearby he could easily walk to. Ingredients, restaurants, entertainment, laboratories, libraries. All of them existed nearby and all of them would eventually be visited or procured by Magna, the latter in the case of ingredients. So far he felt his cooking skill had increased immensely since arriving here. It was a shame what happened in Lavantir and that so many lives had been lost, but he could not dwell on the past. He had to focus on the future.

Today, or at least for now, things were relatively quiet. He'd left the kitchen in the hands of one of the newer members, but one he trusted. The man was called Gala and he was quite a useful person. Together they'd masted a few new dishes and really grew with eachother. Then of course there was Shade. His love for her seemed to be reflected in his cooking and it seemed to be all the more delicious. He remembered the words of his father that to be a great chef was 'to meet a woman that will make you want to give all the food you make to her.' Nowadays rather than just thinking if it was 'good enough' he was instead thinking 'is it good enough for her'.

Still, buying ingredients took funds and finding ingredients involved travel. As such he often went on jobs to get money or to find ingredients or both. Sometimes he just went away for a few weeks, but today he was behind the bar just standing there. However, his eyes swept across to the job board where he saw someone observing a job quite closely. It was a member of the guild he vaguely remembered, but not one he'd interacted with much. Perhaps a double whammy was in order then. He placed his hands on the bar and flipped over it calling back. "I'm heading out. Gala the kitchen is yours. Bob, you run the bar. You know what to do."

The young man walked over to where the girl with two-toned hair was observing the job. "Interesting job?" he questioned using that as a way to begin the conversation with the girl whose name, if he recalled, was something like Kira. No that wasn't right. One of the vowels was wrong. Kire? Karu? Kiro? He couldn't quite place it. He was fairly confident on the K and R though. He was sure he'd find out soon enough. Knowing his luck he'd be completely wrong and her name would be Zelda, Esmerelda or something else completely different.

Neyvahn needed another job to do. As proved to him by Lucius and Iza, he wasn't skilled enough to hold his own. With more experience in the field, however, he may develop the agility, strength, and persistence to make himself a decent mage. With that goal in mind, Neyvahn walked up to the job board and scanned the different possible tasks to take on. None of them really caught his interest. Most of them were small things, not even combat related.

The silver-haired Bakeneko sighed. "Not much to choose from."

"I guess someone beat us to the punch for the good ones," Kei echoed in his head. Neyvahn continued looking at the job board along with another mage. He glanced over, noticing the slightly familiar face. Long black hair with white locks, leaning towards one of the papers. Her bright blue eyes were scanning over the words of the paper, seemingly interested, although here expression showed none of that.

Neyvahn went back to scanning over the last jobs he hadn't read. "Wait..." Kei hummed curiously. "Isn't that the girl that we saw back when you met Astrid?" Neyvahn took another glance at her, noticing the correlation.

"Oh yeah. She took some guy down and caught the attention of like... everybody on the street." Neyvahn chuckled a little. "And I thought I stuck out."

Suddenly, another person came up to the job board. If Neyvahn could remember correctly, he went by the name Magma, and he ran the bar back in Black Rose's old guildhall. It was probably the same story here. "Interesting job?" he asked the girl. Neyvahn's ears perked up. Perhaps... this mystery job was what he needed to extend his experience as a fighter.

"We should go see what the deal is," Kei jested.

Neyvahn just sighed a little. "I'd rather not. Three is always a crowd- HEY! Kei, stop that!" Suddenly shifting control to Kei, Neyvahn's body shuddered a little during the transition. His hair sweeped from silver to white, and his left eye darkened into a cool shade of purple. "Calm down, brother. I'm just helping you since you're so shy~"

    "HEY!"

Now with temporary control over Ney's body, Kei took a small breath and turned to the other two mages. "I am genuinely intrigued as well, if you don't mind my intrusion," he said, slightly bowing his head.

The more she read, the more interesting the job seemed to have got. Soon Kiru's eyes couldn't look away, as she was too enthralled in the objective the job posed. That was until an unfamiliar voice broke through her train of thought. Kiru looked up for a moment, a blank expression her face. She turned over to see a young man staring at her. He wore a white head band and possessed somewhat spiky hair. If Kiru could recall correctly, he was usually the one who ran the bar here at the Inn. Maybe he had done the same at Lavantir, but the bartender she saved wasn't this man. However, his name eluded her. However, she didn't let the silence linger for too long before answering. "It would seem so. The person who posted the job apparently wants whoever accepts it to kill him. A great reward is promised for whoever completes the task, although I'm sceptical how anyone would receive such reward. Seeing as he'd be dead..." Her voice trailed off again before looking back at the paper.

All this time it didn't occur to the demon slayer that maybe this man was hinting at tagging along? It wasn't uncommon. She had found herself in a similar situation before with Shade. Perhaps that was the case. Although, before Kiru could properly introduce herself and ask the question, another voice chimed in from behind. The white and black haired girl turned to see a Yokai with white hair. Judging from the ears, she could quickly conclude he was a Bakeneko. However, that never really mattered to Kiru. One may call her an equalist, but she never seemed to care WHAT species a person was. Or at least that's what most people would think. Her face was usually blank, and showed very little emotion. The only emotion she ever did display was anger, and that was usually in a heated battle... Other then that, she tended to be a complete mystery. No one could tell what she had been thinking the entire time, unless she told them herself.

"I was thinking about taking the job... Anyone is welcome to accompany me if you wish. ALthough it looks like we may have to travel a significant distance to reach the destination. Perhaps a few days by foot. No matter, I'll be ready to leave by sunset. If you're coming I hope you will do the same. Don't be late." Kiru put forward rather suddenly to whoever was listening. She left the job paper on a table next to them so the two could observe it. She had every detail memorized anyways. She walked away, with the same blank expression...

A job to kill someone? Well, that wasn't exactly his cup of tea. He had killed when his hand was forced and he'd kill animals or animate vegetation for ingredients, but to just go in with the intent of killing someone? That was a rather tall order for this chef to fulfill, but it was  a rather odd one. The man wanted to be killed. Even if he didn't go someone would kill him and perhaps Magna could take him out painlessly by striking the soul instead. He picked up the job note and read over it briefly. It sounded like a difficult task. A mammoth labyrinth filled with all sorts and what's more the job would of been sent to other places so they would likely have some competition. It was going to be difficult, but the reward was tempting. With that much he could upgrade the kitchens here a fair bit and buy some more ingredients.

He nodded and headed back to his room to prepare for the mission. Or at least he was going to, but decided to speak to the bakeneko briefly. "The job does look interesting. Not my style, but the funds will be useful. I'm gonna take it, but i'd appreciate the help of another mage." he said and that was his invite for Neyvahn to come along. Some however might take it as an order of sorts considering Magna was an ace and as a head chef was used to having his orders obeyed, but in truth he had meant it as a simple request. He would really appreciate the help of another mage on this job.

He headed to his room after that and stripped down out of his work clothing and dressed in more hard wearing clothes. A dark blue top that was a bit thick and thick grey trousers and leather boots. At his waist was his knife, but still it wouldn't be used on this job. Aegis was not yet ready to be used. He picked up the frying pan from the size and changed its size a few times before nodding in approval. He lifted his gauntlets and slipped them onto his hands. His collapsible chef hat was collapsed and put into his pocket.

"Right, I think that's everything." he said calmly to himself. There wasn't much else he could do, but he prepped himself a nourishing meal that would keep him going for a while. He also prepped some travel snacks and some other things that would be useful. He wondered if the others would want a meal before they left. Ah well, if they did he could always summon up some stuff.

Kei watched as the black and white haired girl walked off after her straightforward disclosure. Not even a single spared ounce of subtlety came from her voice. Just straight to the point... refreshing for a change. Kei watched as she walked away, then turned his attention to the other mage he was with. Magna picked up the note and looked it over for details, so Kei stepped next to him and took a look at the note as well. Before he even got a few lines in describing the job, Magna placed the paper on the table and began to walk away. However, he turned around after a step, and looked Kei in the eyes.

"The job does look interesting. Not my style, but the funds will be useful. I'm gonna take it, but i'd appreciate the help of another mage,"

"Hmm, then I'd have no problem offering my assistance," Kei said with a smile. With Kei's (and Neyvahn's) agreement to tag along, Magna turned his back to Kei and walked away. Suddenly, Kei receded back into Neyvahn's mind, giving him control of his body again. The switch brought a minor headache for a little bit and Neyvahn had to put a hand to his head.

The headache faded out and Neyvahn let out a relieved sigh. He looked back down at the job paper and began reading it through. Magna had said that this job was not his style, but for what reason? Neyvahn took a few moments to read the paper, finally understanding why such a job might imply bad tastes. It was asking the mages to kill their contractor. But to even reach that point, they had to traverse a labyrinth of ungodly size...

"This is a tall order," Neyvahn mumbled in confusion."I know I've come a ways from before, but not enough to handle this."

"... What are you talking about?" Kei questioned. "You've fought an entire crew of pirates and bandits, survived a mental and physical attack against a full fledged Bakedanuki, and took down a rock golem more than 10 times your size! You can handle this, especially with two powerful mages at your side."

Neyvahn just sighed, slightly nodding his head. "Fine." After checking the details of the job, Neyvahn left for his room. He hoped to god that Kei was right. He wasn't keen on dying... again.

Once he got to his room and closed the door, Neyvahn removed his casual clothes and put on his armor. It was nothing special, just lightweight leather armor to dampen the punishment he takes. However, his armor had seen a little too much action, and it was starting to fall apart. The leather was worn out, some of the pads torn where he took too much punishment. His left shoulder pad had the worst of it, and there was still a little blood stained into the leather. Once the armor was on, Neyvahn grabbed his sword and slung it onto his back, latching it securely to his person.

With one last long breath in, Neyvahn hit his left chest plate and walked out, ready for the task ahead of him and his new combat mates.

No change of clothes were required for Kiru. She preferred to wear the same outfit almost everywhere. No one would ever see her in any sort of change of clothes unless it was some sort of special occasion. And this wasn't that. Just another job. She did however pack a small bag of fruit for herself. She was a vegetarian after all, couldn't stand meat. Kiru only hoped her new allies were responsible enough to pack for themselves...

The sky began to turn a shade of orange outside as the sun started to descend beyond the horizon. However, a much darker shape was moving in from the east... Kiru stood motionless at the door of the Inn, watching a storm cloud slowly bellow overhead. No doubt caused by the Demon Slayer. She liked the rain after all, and seemed to have the ability to control it. Kiru was well aware that others didn't enjoy it as much as SHE did, but if they ahdn't known she was responsible for the water works then no harm would be directed at her after all.

"If you're ready, then we should head out. I hope we can cover some decent ground before day break." she told the two before turning and walking. However, she stopped and turned back. "Apologies, I almost forgot to introduce myself. I'm Kiru by the way." She said bluntly, awaiting her guild members reaction to her implication.

Post by Shard 9th August 2016, 12:43 am

Ah so her name was Kiru. He was kind of glad he hadn't tried to address her by name because he had a feeling, based on the personality he'd seen so far, that getting her name wrong might not be the best course of action. Heck, for some people only remembering part of the name seemed to irk them more than not remembering any at all. It was quite baffling in all honesty. Still, at least he knew the name now and because he'd actually interacted with her and was heading out on a job with her he should remember it or at least be a little less likely to forget it. A lot of his brain power went on remembering recipes and ingredients preparation methods and so if he didn't interact with you a bit then you generally wouldn't stick in his mind. At least in terms of something trivial like name.

Magna, unlike Kiru, did not appear to have brang a bag with him despite preparing a substantial amount of food before they left. This might confuse the average onlooker, but for Magna carrying food and ingredients was never something he had to consider. As part of his magic he could store them in a pocket dimension where, for some reason unbeknownst to even him, thecy stayed perfectly fresh and in the exact state he'd put them in. He theorised perhaps the pocket dimension did not have a flow of time, but then why could he only put ingredients and equipment in there that he knew of. Perhaps all the ingredients he had ever cooked or would ever cook would exist within there, but due to how the human mind worked in regards to the fourth dimension...he could not access those parts. It was a pretty theory and one which could well be true, but in truth he had no idea.

"I'm Magna." he replied and picked up the pace so he was walking next to her. "So as we're heading off to battle together...how do you fight? Same question to you." he said turning his head to look at Neyvahn briefly. In his mind the three of them were ingredients in a recipe. This recipe could turn out to be one for success or failure depending on how well they blended together. How well they blended together depended on how much they knew about each other and could work together. So learning about eachother's fighting style and magic would be useful "My magics a little difficult to explain, but essentially embodies elements of cooking in one way or another. It focuses mostly on combining spells to maximise their output."

Neyvahn carried no bag, just a bottle of milk and a pouch of brown rice. Odd yes, but good for producing energy. It was minimal while still providing the necessary function to pull off high energy jobs like these.

The silver-haired mage listened closely while they were walking. Turns out the girl's name as Kiru, and as he had thought, the man's name was Magna. Something seemed off about Kiru though... It's like she just had no emotion, and she was brutally blunt too. Neyvahn couldn't quite put his finger on it, but something about the whole 'no emotion' thing was way different from others he had seen who also (self-proclaimed) had no emotion. This act was a little different, but Neyvahn didn't know why.

Suddenly, Magna spoke up, asking about their fighting styles, then mentioning his own magic type. Neyvahn was going to answer immediately, but was a little caught off by his magic. A magic based off of cooking? How did that work? It was odd and Neyvahn couldn't understand how that would be effective in combat, but then Magna mentioned how it focused on combining spells. The bakeneko has been wrong before, and Magna may be more than just a face behind the bar. That was much more than likely. Neyvahn waited until Magna was done talking, then decided to speak.

"My magic has to do with the reforming and shifting of matter. Unfortunately, it's not very team based, and only has two supportive spells, but I'm hoping that doesn't put a dent in your plans," he said, turning to look at the two. "My fighting style itself is relatively simple. I attack head on with my long sword and use my magic to give me an edge." Neyvahn looked up at the sky. It was covered with a dark cloud heading right for them. He closed his eyes and sighed. During the day, rain would be helpful in keeping them cool, sure, but during the night? Rain can really be bothersome at night.

Before he fully lost his train of thought, Neyvahn turned to Kiru and Magna to say one more thing. "Oh, and if I haven't introduced myself, I'm Neyvahn."

So that was that then. The orange haired Mage went by Magna. The name sounded familiar, but Kiru couldn't really be sure. Nor did she honestly care. Or at least that what it looked like. Without waiting for a response from the other Mage, Kiru simply turned and kept walking without saying anything. As she did, Magna ran up beside her and began to ask about her and the other mage's magic. Understandable. If you were to go into combat with others, it would be best to know how they fought. Easily coordinate strategies when you know your allies. The silver haired Mage spoke up first. His tune and body language had changed drastically before. Something Kiru had easily picked up on. Not to mention the colour of his hair and eyes had also shifted. However, Kiru decided not to concern herself with such matters unless the changes somehow became relevant to their mission.

Magna's magic was based around cooking. An odd form to be sure, but he had made it this far. That was all Kiru needed to know to be confident his abilities didn't fail him when the time came. The silver haired mage's magic was manipulating matter. Kiru didn't quite understand what exactly he meant by that. He went on to say his magic wasn't very friendly around teammates. Neither was Kiru's. So she understood the shift in his tone. Finally, he introduced himself as Neyvahn.

"I'm the ocean demon slayer. Therefore, my magic focuses on water. It is all imbued with holy magic as well, making those who shield themselves in shadow vulnerable. I can heal others, and cure sickness with it. But those two abilities are most effective outside of battle." Kiru told them without shifting her gaze from the path ahead. Her voice never hesitated, and one would be surprised by this. Not many times does a slayer openly admit their magic without showing emotion. Kiru was different though.

Matter manipulation was harder to understand and he would have to see it before he could really formulate it into a recipe for success. Slayer magic on the other hand was one he understood. He'd ran into a few slayers and even teamed up with an ice slayer before. Ice would be easier for him to work with because he could easily generate ice for the slayer to consume and thus power up. He had a few spells based on liquid, but only one was water based and that involved salt water. He doubted that would be much help or at least wouldn't taste that good. Now that he thought about it in terms of slayer support his magic only really catered to fire and ice slayers. Perhaps he would have to invest in some other spells in order to fully sate the appetite of more slayers. This was more from a cooking perspective than a combat perspective, but if he did team up with slayers in the future it could be useful.

As the rain cloud came sweeping in the mage known as Magna conjured up a frying pan and from around his waist unfurled his monkey tail which grabbed the frying pan and held it above his head. The frying pan expanded slightly to give him more covering. "Guess i'll use my frying pan as a drying pan." he said with a slight chuckle. They still had a long way to travel, but at least he'd be drying. Well, unless wind swept up driving the rain to one side, but he could at least keep himself a bit drier.

He hoped his little joke about a drying pan would at least put a smile or a smirk on Kiru's face. Perhaps just enough to provoke a reaction of sorts, but in truth he doubted it. She seemed almost devoid of emotion. Something must of happened in her past. It seemed the guild was filled with sob stories of one form or another. Even Magna himself had lost his parents at a young age. Perhaps she was the type to only show emotion once she could trust you? That was possible. He would have to wait and see though.

Post by Neyvahn Keyvolo 10th August 2016, 12:43 am

After the three of them explained their magics, Neyvahn thought about the strategic approach to their objective. They were going into a labyrinth, one infamous for trapping people and never letting anyone out. However, Neyvahn didn't see how one could make an effective team out of telekinetics, cooking, and water bending... well, unless the labyrinth had an abundant supply of rivers and flour. That and Neyvahn didn't trust his magic to save his life, considering its early stages of case-by-case testing. Truth be told, the other two would most likely be carrying him through, and absolutely prove him wrong once again.

Soon enough, the rain came falling down and Neyvahn was left without an umbrella. Kiru didn't seem to mind, and Magna even went as far as to pull out a frying pan, and in his words, 'use it as a drying pan.' Neyvahn laughed a little, finding the clever pun plenty entertaining. Although it just reminded him that he was the only one without a solution to the rain.

Neyvahn sighed... then looked at the ground. It was simple concrete, but it might work. Neyvahn reached at the ground and pressed his palm against it. The concrete shifted and shimmered like water as Neyvahn pulled at it, detaching a glob of it into his hand. The blob lengthened and spread out at the top until it hardened back into its concrete form. Behind the three mages, the concrete returned back to its original shape. Neyvahn grabbed the bottom of the object with his hand, moving it a little without tipping it over. He nodded his head in affirmation, more to himself than anyone, and held it against the rain.

Kei hummed a little. "Odd, I would have never though that concrete umbrellas were that-" Suddenly, the umbrella crumbled, a few pieces hitting Neyvahn right on the head.

"Ow! Son of a bitch," he hissed, rubbing his head, then sighed in defeat.

    "Well... So much for that."

Silence followed Kiru. She did not speak a word, or make any gesture at all while the other two mage's spoke. One could assume either Kiru didn't think his joke was funny, or didn't even understand it in the first place. None would never know though. It had been several hours into the night as the three trekked endlessly across the country side, edging ever closer to their destination. Kiru kept her pace without hesitation. She showed no signs of tiredness, just determination to make it to the labyrinth. The rolling fields of green blew silently in the dawn's winds. on the horizon the sun began to glow. Preparing to make its long journey to the other side of the earth.

Finally, the trio could rest. Or so Kiru had deemed anyways. She diverted her path towards a large tree in the field. She placed her pack down at its base and turned her head. "Now is as good a time as ever to get some rest. We may still be far from the maze." She told them.
Without waiting for a response, she silently sat down next the leather pack, and pulled out an apple. She began to eat it without concern for the others, whose she assumed brought their own food.

"I find it odd..." She finally spoke. "What could this job possibly serve? What purpose does a man have for wanting someone to kill himself? I hope there is not some sort of ulterior motive." Her voice sounded worried, and her eyes showed a slight look of concern as they stared into the distance.

Post by Shard 11th August 2016, 11:46 pm

It seemed that whilst his little comment about the drying pan had not impressed Kiru it had at least provoked a chuckle from Neyvahn and an attempt to mimic it. What he did was actually fairly interesting. He appeared to touch the ground, turn it into a liquid and try to form it into some sort of covering above himself. Unfortunately, for him anyway, the concrete umbrella did not work all that well. Thus he became covered in concrete dust and bits of rubble which made Magna chuckle a little. He hadn't been expecting to see anything funny on a mission that seemed as serious as this.

Eventually the trio came to a stop by a tree and Kiru began to eat an apple. Magna instead conjured up a hujiao bing, a pepper meat bun, that he'd made earlier and then looked at Neyvahn. "You want anything?" he said and then looked over at Kiru. "Same question to you miss. I can cook up something for you. Just let me know what it is." With that he began to bite into the hujiao bing enjoying the peppery flavour and the juicyness of the meat. These were no ordinary hujiao bing though. No, these were hujiao bing míngxīng as they used a rare crystal dust from the starry lake, as well as a much richer meat, to create a much more intense flavour. One of these should keep him going for a day or two due to the high amount of nutrients contained within.

When Kiru started musing on the purpose of the mission he nodded in agreement. "It is rather odd that one would wish to be killed rather than just killing themselves if death is the sustenance they crave. Perhaps he just wants to die like a warrior and so far no-one has been able to match him? Or perhaps something is preventing him dying unless he is killed in combat?" Both seemed a bit of stretch to him, but they were possibilities. "I do agree with you though. Its possible there might be an ulterior motive and if so we will have to be ready to deal with it." What worried him was the labyrinth. They would have to go through that to reach the target and labyrinths tended to be rather tricky. He just hoped they wouldn't meet any singing goblins.

Neyvahn folded his arms and thought about it. "But what could that ulterior motive be?" It was all a little confusing, but it perplexed him beyond anything else. Still thinking about the reason behind such an odd request, Neyvahn pulled his brown rice out and dug out the spoon in the substance, nibbling on the cold food.

"I can think of two possible reasons," Kei said in Ney's head. "Although both of them aren't the happiest of explanations..."

The silver-haired bakeneko took another spoonful of brown rice. "What do you have in mind?"

Kei told Neyvahn what he believed were possibilities for the motives of their contractor. They both caught the man's attention, and urged him to tell the others. He turned to Magna, seeing the food and suddenly earning himself a ping of hunger. It all looked so delicious... and so expertly cooked. And even though Magna had earlier offered to cook him something, Neyvahn decided against it. He quickly swept the hunger pings aside and got to what he was saying. "It's not likely, but the contractor may be luring mages in to kill them and take their equipment. That or the supposed contractor isn't the one that made the job flyer, but rather someone who wants the 'contractor' dead." Neyvahn's eyes drifted back over to Magna's cooking. It really did look delicious. Neyvahn's mouth began to water as he stared at the food. He really wanted it.

    "Scared to ask, brother?"

Neyvahn looked away and took another spoonful of brown rice. "Shut up, Kei."

Kiru. Continued to sit and eat her apple with an idle look, until Magna decided to wave a big, meaty sand which around. Her senses went bezerk, and Kiru's eyes widened as she covered her nose with her sleeve. The smell of meat was repulsive to the girl. She couldn't stand it at all, no less eat it. She simply looked up at Magna and shook her head. "Please eat that quickly if you must." Kiru told Magna, before letting out a small cough out of disgust of the aroma. Something about meat made the girl's slayer sense extremely sensitive. Sure raw meat smelled disgusting to anyone, but cooked and seasoned was even worse for her.

After that ... 'Telling' display Kiru put on for both of her companions, she looked over to Neyvahn who began to ponder the same question she did, but unlike her he had a few possible answers about the scenario. All of which sounded plausible, but Kiru felt there was more to it then that. If the man simply wanted to lure people to him and kill them, and would be a lot easier to do that without posting a job, and then waiting in a dangerous labyrinth. Of course his second option also could be right, but Kiru found it hard to believe anyone would put a fake assination contract for someone who's crazy enough to live in that monster filled maze. "Perhaps, perhaps not. I guess we will only see once we've cleared our way though the maze and confront the source of this ourselves..."

Magna saw the look of apparent disgust on the face of Kiru and her words indicated she wasn't exactly with him eating meat around her. That was rather odd, but each to their own. The meat bun didn't take that long to devour though. It was rather delectable. Briefly a napkin appeared in his hand to wipe his mouth and then vanished. He'd noted the desire in Neyvahn's face, but he also wasn't sure what to do. He could conjur up another hujiao bing, but that would likely annoy and disgust Kiru further and cause discomfort in the group. However, not providing one could cause Neyvahn discomfort.

"Its also possible that the contractor has a genuine reason to want to be killed. Perhaps to avoid a worse punishment." he said and then considered some of Neyvahn's point. "However, I would not be surprised if we were not the first ones to go on this mission. It might be that the failure's equipment and jewels are what is being provided as a reward." He conjured up a bottle of cola and took a long draught.

"So shall we head on our way now?" he suggested. There was no real benefit to them just sitting here and discussing what might be the reason for the contract. "Sooner we get moving the sooner we'll have our answers."

"You know brother, Magna may be right." Kei mentioned. "I mean, it seems like the most logical. There are better ways to go about scamming people anyways. I hadn't thought about that before, but the contractor may just want to die. I mean... think about it. The contractor is in a labyrinth, that supposedly, very few have escaped from. He may just want to be free from his cage."

Neyvahn sat down and placed a hand on his chin. "Maybe... It does sound reasonable."

"Obviously, it's not concrete, but just consider that for a little bit."

Neyvahn cleared his throat and took a swig of water, then sealed his bag of brown rice. Sitting around simply idling around won't help them find answers, Magna had a point with that. However, they would have to decide whether they wanted to rejuvenate with a little rest, or shrink their distance from the labyrinth. Personally, Neyvahn was rather tired, but he was also anxious to get to the job's location. It was one way or another, but it would end similarly either way. If the group did decided to keep traveling, then they'd have to rest further up ahead. Fighting in a seemingly endless maze is difficult on its own, but doing it tired and drowsy? Neyvahn would rather not leave his life in the hands of his sleepy self.

"I think we should catch some rest first," he suggested. Sure he wanted to find out what this job was about, but at the same time Neyvahn kinda wanted to get some shut-eye. However, he waited for the replies of the other two.

Kiru continued to shudder in disgust until Magna had finished off his meat bun. Finally she relaxed a bit and leaned her back against the tree. Even if she didn't show it, she was very tired after trekking through the night. Neyvahn brought up a very good point. Perhaps they should rest...

"Yes, we should. We won't make it very far in a monster infested labyrinth in our current conditions." She spoke bluntly before biting into her apple again. It wasn't long until Kiru reached the core. her cyan colored gaze peered at it with interest, before plucking out the seeds. She stared down at them in her palm for a moment. Without saying anything, she simply dug a small hole with her hand beside her, and placed the seeds in. Covering it back up, she summoned a small ball of white water, floating silently in her hand. She held it over the patch of dirt she had just created, and dropped the holy liquid on it. She smiled to herself. The first time she had done so in a while. What had she been thinking about? No one could ever know, as it quickly faded back to her usual blank expression.

"It is unlikely we will be in any danger during broad daylight, but if you two feel frightened, I will take watch as you sleep." She said. Her tone unwavering.

"Aye rest sounds good." he said with a nod and then with simple ease climbed up into the tree and onto a large branch where he sat quite comfortably without any further words until Kriu mentioned about being frightened and he placed a hand on his knife. "I'm good sleeping without a watch...if you want to be one feel free, but i'd suggest you get some rest as well because we all want to be ready for whatever is down there."

The tree itself was quite comfortable and it was also a safer location should there be an attack as he was less likely to be spotted and could swing down with some damage. However, that was not the reason he'd chosen the tree. Being part monkey now he had a natural affinity for the trees and instinctually felt happier when resting in one. Even back at home he'd raised his bed off the ground as he liked being higher up.

"If we move in at night we'll be less likely to be spotted. Could be to our advantage. I wouldn't be surprised if we're not the only ones who have been called in to end the life of the contractor." It would make sense for others to be called in in order to guarantee a high chance of success. The question was whether other people would respond and if they would be an actual threat to them or if they'd team up. Or perhaps they'd see the team of Black Rose mages and turn tail running. There were a lot of possibilities. So many unknown ingredients in this recipe.

Magna made a good point. Moving in at night can bring an advantage, especially when sight is not necessary. However, he guessed that other mages that would have taken up the job would also have a reliable sense of surroundings. Whatever, no use in worrying about it now. He'd probably just have to fight on even grounds anyways.

"You're right, Magna. Besides, I'm more comfortable fighting in the dark." The silver-haired man looked up in the tree, and smirked a little. Black Rose really was just a melting pot of oddballs.

Neyvahn walked around and found a comfortable patch of light through the trees. Without crushing anything in his pack for his pouch, he curled up and closed his eyes. He wasn't sure how much he trusted these people, but they weren't enemies to him. If they were, he'd be done within the first seconds of a fight, their auras made that obvious. Fortunately, being in the same guild came with benefits in regards to things like that.

He didn't have to worry about them slitting his throat in his sleep... or drawing a mustache on him. Neyvahn looked around one last time before closing his eyes again. He saw Kiru and her unperturbed expression, which really caught Kei's attention.

"Why do you think she's so blank?" he questioned. "She just doesn't smile or frown or scrunch her expression, and it's bugging me..."

Neyvahn sighed and relaxed his body on the grass. "Things have happened to us, Kei. It's not crazy to think that someone else has been through stranger times." With no other words to say, Kei sighed and went quiet. Neyvahn finally fell asleep, and unless someone bashed him in the head with a branch, he'd stay that way for 8 good hours.

With a sudden splash, Kiru would awake the other two. Dropping a ball of liquid on Ney's face, before shooting a mother spiral up the tree to hit Magna. "Dusk is nearly upon us. We must keep moving." She put simply, before turning her body and walking away. She had already gathered herself and belongings long before she decided to wake the other two it seemed. Her pack had already been situated on her back as she continued to wander through the grassy field as the sun began to set on the horizon.

"It will be imperative that we stick together once we reach the maze. There can be any number of dangers in there that none of us should face alone." She told them, the direction of her head not changing as she spoke. "Not only that, but we must find this man together as well. We all took the job, so we must all complete it. So splitting up isn't an option." This time, Kiru's tone got quite serious, and even hinted at some minor anger with the words as she tilted her head back, looking at both of them with a singular, glaring eye before turning back and adjusting the crystal braid in her hair.

The spiral of water hit Magna causing him to be startled awake and almost fall out of the tree, but he caught it with his tail and dropped down landing on his feet in a crouch. "A rather rude awakening don't you think?" he said with a chuckle as he rose to stand up normally. "Good job I have my tail or that could of hurt." he added with a shrug looking at the pair. However, he nodded in agreement when it was mentioned that they should stick together.

"I agree. We don't know what we will be up against, but we are better off working in a group then trying to do everything by ourselves." he said calmly shaking himself to get some of the excess water off. It seemed though that her reasoning wasn't entirely for safety reasons, but some sort of honour in that all three had taken the job so all three had to finish it. It was an odd thought especially as even split up for a while what each of them took out could contribute to completing the job. He shrugged again though. There wasn't much he could do about the attitude problem. His normal solution would be to use his knowledge of food to persuade them, but that didn't seem a wise choice either.

"We should all keep our eyes and other senses open and be at the ready." he said as they began to head off in the direction of the labyrinthian ancient ruins. "But we should try to keep quiet as well so that others don't hear us coming."

Neyvahn jolted upright, wide awake. "HEY!" he hissed. "What the hell was that for!?" However, Kiru just turned around and walked away. "Hey, I'm talking to..." Neyvahn groaned and sat up. "Ugh, goddammit."

"I guess that's one way to go about a wake up call," Kei said in a slightly surprised tone.

The wet-haired mage sighed, shaking his head. "Yeah, but she didn't have to be such a dick about it." After both Ney and Magna were awake, Kiru continued to explain their plan. Neyvahn didn't personally plan on ditching his teammates and splitting up to be honest. Just the idea made him question Kiru's impression of him. He'd have to be quite the narcissistic and over-confident mage to think he could take on a labyrinth without backup. What good would that do?

Magna seemed to agree with the idea against splitting up, so Ney just folded his arms and waited for them to get going towards the labyrinth. Soon enough, they were on their way again and nearing the labyrinth. Neyvahn could only imagine just how big this thing really was for a guy to be stuck there to the point where he would hire people to come kill him. What if they got stuck in there? Neyvahn found it really odd to think about. What was stopping them from getting lost for eternity in the man's place? Regardless of the various negative thoughts in his head, Neyvahn shook his head and kept walking. He didn't care anymore, they'd just work from there and think of something.

While they were walking, Magna mentioned keeping all their senses up while keeping a stealthy approach. Neyvahn pondered on the idea. "It makes sense to keep our senses active, but I'm not sure how helpful stealth will be in the long run. After all, we'll probably be dealing with other mages. They'll probably sense our auras before we're even within earshot." After giving his two cents, Neyvahn shrugged. "We could get lucky and only have to encounter a few mages who know what they're doing, but I could be wrong."

After a few more hours of traveling, the trio finally reached their destination. Kiru stopped suddenly. Just a few feet away from her was a giant chasm... It seemed to run very deep into the earth, so far in fact the bottom could not be seen. She wearily looked downwards to see nothing but inky blackness awaiting them below. She looked up again to see this wasn't the only one... Beyond them as far as the eye could see were many similar trenches. They all seemed connected, but where there prize laid in waiting still eluded her... With one more look she turned to her companions.

"We're here, I hope you don't mind getting wet." She said flatly. Suddenly, a huge spire of white water cracked from the ground behind them. It rushed out with deadly force as it arched of the three, and shot straight down the cavern wall into the darkness. "Unless you have an alternative route, hold your breath and step into the water." She said, before backing up into the white spire. Within an instant she disappeared from view. Her body taken by the rush of holy water. It only took about 10 seconds, before Kiru found herself on solid ground again. Opening her eyes, she silently stepped out into the cavern's bottom. It was very dark. She looked up to see the top. It seemed like a near crack of faint light hundreds of meters above her. Without waiting any time, Kiru closed her eyes and began to use her slayer senses... She needed to know what they were dealing with. Maybe the person they were looking for would give off some sort of unique signal...
