"Bit of an odd time to ask that question after splashing us awake this morning." Magna said with a chuckle, but rather than stepping into the water he leaped over the edge seemingly to his death. However, he extended a blade from his gaunlet and embedded it into the wall before flipping off and repeating the process a few times as he got down. "I don't mind getting wet, but if there is an alternative, especially when getting dry isn't too easy."

It was then that a faint rumbling was heard before three huge creatures that appeared to be a hybrid of badgers and moles. They were growling loudly and appeared heavily pissed. In his journeys around the world Magna had heard of such creatures. They were said to manipulate the very earth, but despite their bulk they were also incredibly fast. Landing a sufficient blow on them as not going to be easy. At least without a little help.

He focused and a powder formed on each hand. One red, one green. He slammed the pair together forming a golden dust which he rapidly enhaled. Instantly, his eyes went red with seriousness and he dashed forward at a speed that seemed beyond what he should be capable of. The first mole wasn't expecting it at all and found a small energy blade piercing through its chest. There was no sign of a visible wound, but the badger mole's eyes whited over in death and it fell backwards. The other two let out a growl of anger and one slammed its fist against a wall causing a boulder to shoot out at Magna. Magna dodged round this using the dust cloud it generated to his advantage and blasted forward once more slamming his blade into the chest of one of the badger moles and ending its life without seemingly damaging it.

The final one seemed a bit older and began to form strange hand gestures. The ground began to move and ripple as suddenly the beast was launched towards him its razor sharp claws becoming enhanced with obsidian. If those hit it would be the end, but fortunately they wouldn't hit because with a thrust of his hands towards the ground the young chef was suddenly airborne and then riding on the back of the creature for a second before ramming both blades in this time to end it.

He stood there calmly for a moment the red from his eyes fading and then all three badger moles vanished with a snap of his fingers heading to his pocket dimension. He had no idea if badger mole was tasty, but he would cook it and find out.

Post by Neyvahn Keyvolo 20th September 2016, 7:42 pm

Neyvahn didn't have the skill Magna did to get down into the chasm without using Kiru's way of transport, so he was forced to resort to that. After stepping in and coming out at the bottom of the chasm, the silver haired cat yokai was absolutely soaked. He groaned irritably and repelled the water off of him. After all, what kind of matter manipulator would he be if he couldn't get rid of a little water?

After quick drying himself, Neyvahn reached over his shoulder and grasped the soft leather hilt of his sword. With a quick pull, the blue blade revealed itself and left the sheath on Ney's back. A trusty long sword probably wasn't the best for Neyvahn, but it'd have to do until he found a good match. He liked the feeling of a sword, but a long sword may just not be the best type for him. Whatever, he'd worry about that once the job was done.

Neyvahn walked a few steps forward, but was stopped immediately when the ground rumbled. Out popped three different figures, each one hissing aggressively. Upon closer inspection, Neyvahn noticed that they were badger/ mole hybrids, each one uglier than the last. However, they were quickly disposed of by Magna. He handled each one as if their speed was nothing. Before he knew it, all three mole-badgers were dead.

"... Remind me never to get on your bad side," he joked towards Magna. The unsuspecting mage took only a few steps forward before he was suddenly hoisted up by his feet. "What the-!?" Another object wrapped around his left hand and pulled it taut. Frantically confused and disoriented, Neyvahn looked around and noticed the slimy tentacles grabbing at his appendages. Great, of course it had to be tentacles. Before he could react, another tentacle wrapped around his sword hand. His sword dropped to the dirt out of his reach. "Grrr, hands off!"

Neyvahn pulled on the tentacles and twisted his body around, forcing them to let go of him. He dropped to the floor and snatched up his weapon, swinging it quickly at the first tentacle he saw. He was persistent and kept attacking. One tentacle snapped at him from behind, but was not quick enough. Neyvahn whipped around and slashed a deep cut into it. While he still had the advantage, he stomped on the slimy appendage and hacked at it with his sword until it finally fell apart.

    One down, three to go.

Another one launched out at Neyvahn and went for his legs. Neyvahn hopped up and repeated the process, jumping on the tentacle to pin it to the ground. He hacked for a few hits, but was stopped short by another tentacle. It wrapped around his torso and pulled him up. "What the hell is with these things!?" Neyvahn yelled, repeatedly swinging his sword for a few seconds until the tentacle holding him was chopped off. Once he was back on the ground, Neyvahn tried to stab one final blow on the tentacle he was hitting before. Unfortunately, it receded back into the wall before he could.

There were still two tentacles left, but Neyvahn didn't have eyes on either one. At the same time, he heard talking in the distance. Probably another group looking for the contractor. He could try leaving the tentacles to deal with them, but Ney didn't want to risk it.

Finally, one of the tentacles jolted out at Neyvahn. He sidestepped the slimy thing and swung his sword down as hard as he could. It embedded itself halfway through, but didn't kill it all the way. Before the tentacle could recede again, Neyvahn jumped up and jabbed both his heels into it, finishing it off with one final swing that severed it from its root.

    One more stupid tentacle.

It popped out at Neyvahn and jabbed at his chest. The strike caught the man off guard, but didn't entirely render him defenseless. Neyvahn retaliated and swung hard, landing a solid hit. It tried to strike again, but Neyvahn sidestepped it and slashed down its length. After what seemed like a full minute, the mage finally drained it and sliced it wide open.

Neyvahn sheathed his sword and took a breath. "Jeez, out of all the stupid things, it just had to be tentacles..." He wanted to bash in the tentacles to make sure they were dead, but his attention was siphoned over towards the advancing group of adventurers. However, he wasn't the best fighter for big groups. Neyvahn turned towards Kiru and Magna, jabbing his thumb towards the group of 15 or so people. "I think you guys should handle this one. I'll be back here for any emergency moves."

Post by Kiru 24th September 2016, 3:54 pm

Kiru shifted her stance and clenched her fists as the events began to unfold around her. It seemed three rather odd looking mole like creatures were the first ones to greet the trio, and they looked angry. They wouldn't pose a problem though, as Magna quickly sprung into action and had disposed of them almost effortlessly. This was the first time she had gotten a good look at his magic, and he hadn't been lying about it before. It was indeed strange to see him mix cooking skills with combat magic, but he had no trouble utilizing it. Soon after the mole's were killed, Kiru turned her attention over to Neyvahn, but it seemed he was already busy with his own problems. Large, grotesque looking tentacles burst from the ground and walls of the canyon to attack the Yokai. But just as Magna had dealt with the moles, Neyvahn showed little trouble getting them off his back. This canyon was indeed strange, but so far it seemed the dangers wouldn't be strong enough to stop their quest. Not yet at least. Kiru was about to say something to the Yokai, but her speech was cut short by the sound of approaching footsteps. She leaned over to peer behind Neyvahn at an advancing group of people headed their way. She simply glared and walked passed the Yokai and stopped about 20 feet away from the group before they stopped dead in their tracks when the noticed the trio of odd individuals blocking their way.

"Oi! What are you doing here lass? This canyon ain't no place for little girls!" One of the men in the front of the group yelled out, followed by a small ripple of laughter coming from his friends. He gave a crooked smile before eyeing Magna and Neyvahn. "You and your friends don't really seem to fir here do ya? There must be a specific reason as to why you've chosen to brave this hell." He said, implying his question. At this, Kiru spoke. "I'm sensing our goal is similar to yours isn't it? You all seem very eager to continue, but I'm afraid we can't let you if you intend on finding the contracter." She said coldly... At this, the canyon dimmed slightly as dark clouds began to shade the area. The group was silent for a moment, staring at the three with confused expressions before their leader looked over to one of his buddies and chuckled. "Can't let us? HAHAHAHA! What are a trio of freaks like you gonna do to stop us?" He said, pulling his broadsword from his back, and gripping it menacingly with two hands. "You wandered too far from home didn't ya? Now I suggest you run back before I show you how dangerous the world can be..." Kiru remained silent as his statement. Rain began to fall on the canyon's floor and it only grew to pelt harder from there. "No? Well then don't say we didn't warn you!" He cackled, before sprinting towards Kiru with his broadsword in hand. His group simply stayed back, eager to watch him dispose of the emotionless girl. She stared blankly at him, not moving at all when he raised his weapon over her head. Suddenly, the ground behind her cracked and burst open as four white, streams of water shot out. They quickly collided with the man's chest as the blade was inches from Kiru's chest, knocking him backwards several feet. He rolled in the dirt. Before he had a chance to get up, another two streams shot towards him. They seemed to take on the form of tendrils as they quickly wrapped around both of his legs, dragging him backwards along the rocky surface, before swinging him upwards. The group watched in horror as they witnessed their leader being effortlessly thrown around. He flew high up above them, before the tendrils let go. They quickly morphed into a singular stream of white water, and smashed him towards the surface. Within an instant, he crashed against the ground. Dust and rock splinters flew around him as he made contact. After a few moments it finally cleared and the man lied on the ground. He had been completely knocked out cold. The only thing indicating he was still alive was the painful moan that escaped his lips...

"Th- They're wizards! Don't just stand their you fools! Get them!" A nervous man yelled to his companions. The entire time Kiru kept standing still staring blankly at the group, her hair now soaked with rain. The group quickly unsheathed their weapons and sprinted forwards, giving their war cries as they ran towards them. This time Kiru reacted. She crossed her arms in front of her as a large magic seal appeared on the ground below their feet. Stepping forward, and un crossing her arms the seal lit up! Suddenly six bursts of incredibly hot steam geysers blasted from the ground with scolding white water. Some were instantly thrown back by the sudden surprise while others managed to power through it. Shifting her body in a defensive stance, Kiru's fist began to manifest a ball of white mist. Without saying anything, she quickly sprinted forward. Managing to use a outcrop of rock to gain height, she quickly jumped off of it over the group. Before they could get ready to slash at her, the girl's fist slammed into the ground and a sudden explosion of white mist engulfed the entire canyon. The mist was so thick and heavy, no one could see or even focus. Except for Kiru that was. Her slayer senses allowed her to hear and smell exactly where everyone was. ALmost as if she had thermal vision. Not wasting anytime, She ducked and sweeped the legs of one person, a tendril appearing out of the fog to drag him away. HIs scream alerted his companions who were previously busy trying to find their way through the mist. But their notice wouldn't save him. Soon, 8 of the water tendrils appeared behind Kiru, and dove through the mist. Grabbing onto people at random, and dragging them away into the fog as their companions were forced to watch in horror. All the while the demon slayer ducked and weaved her way through the armoured treasure hunters. She'd sidestep one of their blows, only to spin around and plant a foot hard in their gut. They'd stumble backwards right into another tendril which claimed their body for the mist...

It only took a few minutes before the yelling stopped and everything fell silent... The only sound was the dripping rain. The fog began to slowly dissipate as Kiru stood motionless in a massive field of knocked out bodies. All 15 lied motionless in the mud. Some barely awake, making painful sounds as they gripped their bruised bodies. "Let's go. I fear we may run into more." Kiru said looking back at Magna and Neyvahn, before turning and walking over the fallen treasure hunters, seemingly not caring at all as the rain fell...

Post by Shard 27th September 2016, 2:04 am

Slayers were always fairly impressive, but usually their fighting style was all out assault with physical strength and might. Or at least from his experience that was how it was. However in this case she took out a bunch of them using a spell and then used mist cover, rather intelligently, to bring down the rest. As the mist cleared all fifteen were down and out. Some were scorched by the geysers whilst others were just in intense pain.It had only taken a few minutes, but she had easily taken down those fifteen troops. It seemed all of them were skilled at combat in their own way though Magna didn't like to think of himself as a combat mage.

As he stepped towards the bodies he beckoned Kiru to wait a few moments. "These guys look like they've been here a while and seemed at least semi-intelligent. They might have mapped out the area they've been to or something." he said rummaging about the pockets. To his surprise in one of them he found a lacrima crystal which when activated displayed a map of part of the labyinth with a blip showing the current location of the lacrima. "Well, thats more than I expected." he said with a pause tossing the lacrima up and down. "Its still going to be exploring, but it means we don't have to go down dead ends we or them have been down before."

With that he began to head over after Kiru and asked her if she wanted the Lacrima. She did seem to be taking the lead on this mission after all so it made sense for her to have the map. She also seemed to have stronger slayer senses than he did so perhaps she could work out routes better than he could as well. There was always that possibility.

Following Through [Job || Neyvahn || Magna] - Page 2 Empty Re: Following Through [Job || Neyvahn || Magna]

Post by Neyvahn Keyvolo 5th October 2016, 6:49 pm

Immediately down in the labyrinth and they already handled three different hostile groups. Neyvahn didn't want to think just what else they might run into down in the chasms. Seriously... no more than ten minutes in and they had already encountered a pack of mole-badgers, other armed explorers, and wall tentacles. I was so ridiculous that it was almost stupid. And of course Neyvahn was the one to deal with the tentacles... out of all things.

The trio had been making their way around for about thirty minutes at this point. The lacrima had really helped keep them from places they knew were dead ends, but they still came across some nonetheless. The process was tedious and testing. Neyvahn considered going back to the place they entered from, but it was a bit late for that now. With the progress they made so far, he was actually getting quite invested in the task. His interest in the outcome was just too over-possessive compared to his desire to give up. Besides, what kind of impression would that leave on Magna and Kiru? Neyvahn already knew that he was weaker compared to others similar to him, so it'd only worsen if he proved to everyone that as an addition to his physical and magical weakness, he was also quick to give up. Neyvahn wasn't. He continued on with the job. Not worth it to give up now.

By now, the trio had to be relatively close to where they were going. They had been walking for a decent amount of time, and it felt like they had gotten in a good mile or two towards the destination in those thirty minutes. Unfortunately, Neyvahn's perception of the labyrinth's size may have been off. Neyvahn continued on, following wherever Kiru or Magna decided best.

They had begun traveling down a long straight section of the network of chasms when the group heard another multitude of footsteps and voices. More adventurers, or at least Neyvahn would guess. He reached back behind his right shoulder and grasped the hard leather hilt of his sword. With a satisfyingly smooth shing, the sword released from its scabbard. After a silent and peaceful thirty minutes, it was time to jump into the fray again. A few moments later, the group of adventurers turned a corner, bringing them into the line of sight of the trio and vice versa. By the looks of it, this group of adventures was much larger than the one Kiru attacked, probably twice the amount of armed assailants. Each group was about 50 meters from each other, leaving more than enough room for a heroic charge. However, Neyvahn wouldn't get the immediate chance to do so.

From the wall, another problem emerged, one Neyvahn was reluctantly familiar with. Before the pale tentacles even had a chance to grab at him, he sprinted away. "You guys have fun with those!" he said, motioning to the tentacles flailing around the gap in the chasm. Needless to say, Neyvahn would rather fight a small army of tools than deal with those stupid things again.

Kei interrupted Neyvahn before he could go back to his charge towards the group of adventurers. They were not charging him, so it made Neyvahn look like a total idiot. "Slow down and put away your sword, you barbarian," Kei said. "You're too eager to get yourself killed."

Albeit reluctantly, Neyvahn grumbled and sheathed his sword, slowing to a walking speed. "How likely do you think they are to just let us pass? They probably know that we're more competition anyways..."

    "Just try."

Neyvahn rolled his eyes and kept walking. "You're the one who's gonna get me killed." Neyvahn was within 20 meters at this point, and he could distinguish some of the closest adventurer's expressions. Confused and amused. Great, more arrogant pricks. Regardless of how well Neyvahn could convince them, they'd probably still end up swinging their swords. Even Kei wouldn't be able to sweet talk them enough. Now Neyvahn was within 5 meters of the group, and the stench of sweat was beginning to itch his nose. Great, arrogant smelly pricks.

The closest goon raised his eyebrow and folded his burly arms. "Hey buddy, a bit far from the furry convention, aren't ya?" As if on cue, the majority of goons roared with laughter.

Neyvahn wasn't nearly as amused. He grumbled under his breath a few unkind words before speaking up, his white tail flicking slowly behind him. "Very funny, now I'm gonna make this clear."

    "I don't think you're going-"

"You're after the contractor aren't you?"

A few goons' brows lowered and the laughing became slightly quieter. "Wouldn't a pipsqueak like you want to know?"

Blockheads, weren't they? The lack of any ability to deduct was all Neyvahn needed to know that these guys had no intent to ask questions... or answer them.  No point in starting up a conversation. "It's obvious you are, and if only you had any trace of intelligence, then you'd realize that we were too. Now, I have no intent on sharing the reward with some senseless goons, so you're going to have to leave, unless you want to get knocked silly."

"... Uhh... you're kidding right?" All thirty goons broke out into uproarious laughter, their voices echoing off the rocky sides of the chasm. "You, a little kitty wannabe, taking down thirty of the strongest soldiers of dragon fang!? You're even more out of your mind than I thought you were! Hahaha, out of all the things I'd see in this place, I didn't think a mentally challenged boy would be one of them!"

    Okay, enough chit chat.

Neyvahn lunged forward and planted a fist dead center in the man's sternum. The helpless bastard flew back a few feet and landed on his ass. "The hard way it is, then." The front row of armed men ran and surrounded Neyvahn. Behind them, the next row of fighters surrounded, creating a sea of enemies with Neyvahn at the center. The first couple attackers closest to Neyvahn had axes and swords. Neyvahn pulled out his own sword and blocked an incoming attack from the swordsman, then strafed to the side to avoid an overhead axe swing. Unfortunately, another sword user got a good swing in on his side. The leather armor Neyvahn wore softened the blow, but the word 'discomfort' was just a bit weak to explain the pain.

By now, more than half of the goons were within 5 meters of Neyvahn, trying their best to take all the credit. With a growl, Neyvahn uttered a single word. "Naisutorai." The air rapidly expanded from Neyvahn and blasted right into the goons, sending them flying back into the canyon walls with a thud. A few of them flew quite a distance and landed heavily on their backs. With some breathing room, Neyvahn deemed it appropriate to go on the attack now. He ran forward and attacked the first man on his feet, bashing him in the head with the bottom of the hilt of his sword. The man reeled back with a yelp before we was knocked out cold with a swift heel kick to the cheekbone. Three other attackers got back on their feet and charged for Neyvahn. Two with long swords, one with two hatchets. Neyvahn switched tactics, running perpendicular away from them towards another man getting up. As expected, they gave chase and ran after him. Once the other man got onto his feet, Neyvahn grabbed him by the collar and chucked him at the three attackers. The cover gave him just enough to flank around and land a solid swing right into the curve of an axe-wielder's back. The man let out a voiceless yelp before falling to the ground. The hatchet man turned and started swinging quick and feverish attempts to hit Neyvahn. Soon enough, an opening presented itself and allowed Neyvahn to take a step forward and hold both of the man's wrist, headbutting him hard and throwing in a complimentary punch to the nose.

Neyvahn almost forgot the other two that were up as a heavy axe swung right where his neck was. Fortunately, the strike only nicked the collar of his armor and left his neck untouched. Neyvahn turned around with his sword and lodged the blade in the man's leg. He screamed for a second before Neyvahn bashed him in the head with the hilt of his sword. One after another, Neyvahn whittled down the group's conscious numbers to ten, and even those guys were questioning themselves now. Twenty men were on the chasm floor, either unconscious or groaning with Neyvahn standing right in the center of the whole mess. One of the ten men was the first fool that made fun of Neyvahn. He was panting hard, barely able to stand up. Neyvahn just grinned a little and shrugged his shoulders. "I tried to warn you."

With a final stretch to prove his point, Neyvahn leaped forwards and quickly handled each and every last one of the standing men with simple blunt force from either his legs, arms, or sword. One fell from a swift hilt to the temple, another was knocked down with the breath taken from his lungs, and another was crawling on the floor crying with a red line down his left leg. One of the last men ran forward with two daggers, but Neyvahn quickly 'disarmed' him and left him on the ground. "Keep pressure on the stub," he advised, walking towards the last man standing. It was the first fool that made fun of him. However, no more amusement was left on the mans face. His mouth hung wide open, his eyes larger than saucers.

Neyvahn sheathed his sword and glared at the man. "Left cheek or right cheek?"

"... U-Uhh... I-I didn't... PLEASE DON'T-" Neyvahn cut him off with a swift jab to the nose, knocking him out cold.

"Jeez, no bite for this dog." Neyvahn dusted his hands off and walked back over to Magna and Kiru. During that fight, he had suffered a couple hits, but it wasn't anything too serious. He had no doubt that they had easily dealt with the tentacles. After all, he only saw two when they first popped up. With a quick break to catch his breath, Neyvahn readjusted his chest plating and met back up with the two mages.

The last group the trio had encountered held a lacrima with a map in progress of the labyrinth. Perhaps they could find something similar in this group. It was much larger, so they had to have something worth value along with them that would help Kiru, Magna, and Neyvahn on their way to the contractor. It was a more than likely possibility considering the nature of the labyrinth. Even for a group of thirty fighters, it would be an idiot's decision to come unprepared and unequipped. The silver-haired bakeneko pointed a thumb back at the groaning masses of unconscious travelers while keeping his attention on Kiru and Magna. "Should we search these guys too? They probably have something useful along with them."

Well. One thing was clear to Kiru. The Yokai certainly knew how to handle himself when the going got tough. If Kiru was going to be truthful, she may have doubted him near the start of the job. Only because of his lack of confidence, she was worried he may not be able to hold his own. Of course, he displayed the exact opposite just here and now. Effortlessly taking out a group twice as large as the one Kiru had to dispatch. It would seem Kiru had underestimated her friends... It wasn't going to happen again. However, before she could say anything, a familiar sound crept up behind her.

Within an instant, the demon slayer spun around to see a large, purple tentacle swaying. Not hesitating, it lunged straight for the girl, but Kiru easily sidestepped it and ducked it's friend's attack. Planting her foot on the ground, she quickly rolled backwards out of their range to quickly asses the situation. There only seemed to be two of them, so Kiru was sure she could handle it. Clenching her fist, a large white ball of water manifested around her palms and feet. Soon the two tentacles quickly slid back into their holes, and burst out of the ground again closer to the Demon Slayer. One dove for her leg, while the other went for her waist. Rolling forward, she barely missed the grab to her leg, and she quickly ducked before jumping again over the second tentacle. Kiru's eyes glowed slightly with a blue light as her water tendrils manifested around her. They instantly reached our and wrapped around one of the tentacles, keeping it still as the demon slayer focused on the second one. Snapping her head out of the way as it tried to grab it, Kiru quickly lifted a hand and grabbed onto the slimy monster. Gripping as hard as she could, the monster reacted, trying to violently shake the water user off. Instead she brought up a fist and punched the beast. An explosion of white water erupted at it's base as she jumped off of it. The creature shook in pain, but was silenced. With a flurry of red blood, the monster's arm was ripped off from another of Kiru's tendrils. The water tendril had cut cleanly through its weakened hide as the others tightened around the other one. With a little more pressure, the monster exploded.

Kiru turned back, huffing with blood on her face and clothes, before silently motioning to Magna. Seeing another Mole creeping up behind him...

Magna's tail suddenly whipped out as the large mole came and attacked him with a physical blow. AS if by magic, and indeed it was, his frying pan appeared in the tail and blocked the blow. He didn't even turn around as with skillful use of his tail he brained the large mole dazing it. It was at that moment he turned and once more extended the blades from his gauntlets and stabbed the mole leaving no sign of physical damage, but still it keeled over. They weren't exactly tough opponents especially when you'd already faced a group of them before.

"Its possible that this group might have something on them. Perhaps another lacrima mapping out more of the area or something." he said calmly as the large mole dissapeared in a twinkling of light along with the frying pan. He moved swiftly amongst the group looking for anything of use, but couldn't find anything obvious. "Looks like these ones were a little less prepared than the other group, perhaps due to their numbers. Too many cooks certainly spoiled their broth." With that he looked over at Kiru.

"So shall we get going? I suspect we still have a ways to go before we reach the contractor and there is probably a lot more thats going to get in our way." he said with a shrug. The previous battle hadn't really phased him that much. He'd fought bigger and tougher creatures before. "No real point sticking around here after all." He wondered though what else could be down here. SO far they'd met giant badger moles, groups of mercenaries and the strange tentacles. Those were perhaps the oddest things. He couldn't tell if they were a natural life form or something magical. There was also the possibility that each of these tentacles might be part of some larger creature which they might have to face. He'd heard of hunters like that who sent forth parts of their body to subdue their quarry before the main body came to devour it.

Neyvahn watched as both Magna and Kiru dealt with their enemies flawlessly. The supposedly lightning-fast moles were still no match against Magna's reaction time, and the tentacles just couldn't escape Kiru's grasp. Perhaps the three of them really did have a chance of finding this Contractor. Neyvahn knew very well that Kiru and Magna were experienced and more than prepared when it came to fighting, it was rather himself that he was worried about.

He had dealt with a few thugs back in Rose Garden and Hargeon Town, but this was something else. More enclosed spaces and stranger enemies... mainly wall tentacles. God, those things were annoying. Anyways, Neyvahn had first felt like things were going to be impossible and that he was just gonna tag along. He had this image of all the other mages, that they were much more powerful. I was true for most, if not all the other mages he met, but it didn't mean he couldn't do anything. He was working with the mages, not against them, and that's what he felt gave him reason to still do these jobs... Hopefully that doesn't change.

Neyvahn was pulled out of his thoughts as the walls around him moved ever so slightly, and he knew exactly why... more tentacles. Neyvahn immediately unsheathed his sword and swung at the first tentacle slithering towards his ankles. A good strike, but not a lethal one. Neyvahn growled, swinging again at the same tentacle. "I thought Kiru had taken care of the tentacles! Didn't she!?"

Another tentacle grabbed a hold of Neyvahn's armed hand and pulled it towards the wall, pinning him against the rock. "... More tentacles perhaps?"

"Oh, you don't say?" As much as he hated it, Neyvahn lurched at the slimy tentacle wrapped around his wrist and bit down as hard as he could, his sharp fangs ripping through the smooth meat. Just as he had hoped, the tentacle quickly receded back into the wall, but not before Neyvahn could rip out a big chunk of it. The bakeneko spat out the meat with a disgusted face. "Bleh... remind me to never try sushi."[/color]

"Noted." Neyvahn continued to swing at the other tentacle, but it just wouldn't stay still. His patience was wearing thin. As soon as he got the chance, the mage stomped on the tentacle and pinned it to the ground, then proceeded to stab at its root until it severed from its source. Thank god.

Unfortunately, Neyvahn had forgotten about the other tentacle for just one millisecond too long. It lunged from the walls and lashed at the front of his throat. The pain caused him to choke and lose air. Before he could retaliate, the tentacle wrapped around Neyvahn's throat and lifted him off of the ground, its bitten section still bleeding profusely. The yokai tried to stab his sword at the tentacle, but he was losing consciousness. Before he knew it, his sword fell from his hand and rang out against the chasm floor. Neyvahn couldn't even squeeze out a single word. His sight went blurry, his limbs still fighting, but weakly. He couldn't do anything at this point.
