It's been a very long year for Neyvahn. Too much has happened recently, and it wasn't helping him at all. Technically he should be dead right now. First he's tortured and driven to suicide, then he's pulled into a fight that critically injures the only person that cares about him, and then he loses that person to rage and anger!? What was there left to do? The universe might as well kill him now. His new powers meant nothing, and he had no reason to continue doing these ridiculous jobs.

It wasn't his natural-born responsibility to do these jobs, was it? He shouldn't be forced into those kinds of things just because he was a specific kind of person. Neyvahn didn't ask to be a yokai, he was born that way... and he still wishes he wasn't. Just imagining life as a normal person was amazing to Neyvahn, so he did what he could to work towards that. No more jobs, no more stressful obligations to the stupid tanuki that got him into this entire mess. All Ney had to do was lie around and be a cat. It was a pretty good deal if he had to say so.

Neyvahn was resting on top of a pile of boxes against the side of a busy road. By now, the sun had gone down and the street lights illuminated the faces of all the passing tourists and locals. Each one looked nearly the same to Neyvahn, and they all kept the same familiar expressions: either very energetic and happy, or indifferent or melancholy. Neyvahn could better relate to the latter. The small grey cat shifted his paws and watched as a couple passed him. He had to resist the urge to hiss at them... fortunately, something else took his mind off of the rest of the crowds.

A familiar face, but one that wasn't as common as most that he's seen. It wasn't a psychotic killer, a troublesome yokai, or a deformed woman... it was the face of a calming musician. Neyvahn's ears perked up as his attention turned to the light-haired mage, his tail flicking to the other side of his body. What was she doing in Rose Garden? He could've sworn that she had left Black Rose for something, more important matters. Perhaps it had to do with music? Neyvahn couldn't finish his thought as his attention was drawn back to Astrid.

Neyvahn wasn't sure what to think about Astrid. Of course, she was a nice girl and all, but she was too closely connected to all the chaos he was trying to run away from. Another mage, just like him. No doubt that she took jobs as a guild member, if she was part of a guild. Neyvahn couldn't remember that detail. If she was a part of a guild, then she had never told him. Then again, they didn't know each other all that well, no reason to tell Neyvahn about her life even if he asked.

The fact that Astrid had only recently been introduced into his life simply made the encounter even stranger. Out of all the people he would have seen in the city, he did not expect it to be her. Neyvahn slightly shifted his weight to the side and tucked his paws underneath his little body as to provide better leverage if he needed to pounce away. Even if it was Astrid, he wouldn't let someone pull him back into the crazy loop of lunacy. Although he took the form of a cat, Neyvahn wouldn't be able to hide his magical presence from Astrid, and she would more than likely realize just who he was. That plus his eyes probably gave it away... yeah, Neyvahn would have to make a run for it as soon as Astrid said or did anything about it.

With his body slightly tensed, ready too dash, Neyvahn watched Astrid inch her way closer to him, her oddly alluring scarlet eyes on him. Once she was close, she looked around, like she was being suspicious and didn't want to attract any attention. Odd for a musician. No matter, the pale girl turned her attention back to the silver cat, and muttered a single word.

"K-Kitty..."

Neyvahn's ears perked up at the word. Did she not know that it was him? Perhaps she was too distracted to notice the mage's slight radiating presence... maybe?

Astrid made her way to Neyvahn, then set down her hot drink down and knelt in front of the cat. Inside Ney's head, Kei chuckled a little bit. "What are the odds?"

"I don't know. What is she doing in Rose Garden?"

"Hard to say," Kei said. "Perhaps she's visiting a friend."

"Or she has another performance here. After all, she is a... uh..." The sentence was cut short as Neyvahn lost his train of thought. Astrid began petting him, and he just lost himself... he really was a cat at heart. The silver fur-ball began to purr, his eyelids drooping a little lower. Soon enough, he was up and curling around Astrid's hands, entranced by the sensation. Even Kei could feel it.
