    So This is an idea I have posted up in the Dev forums this idea to change cooldowns to be different between non-story PvP threads and other threads. The idea is below and I wanted to y

    So cooldowns have been a thing here since the beginning, or since as long as I have heard of stuff going on site because I missed a few years of what this baby did at the start of its birth and when its parents had developed it more but yeah, CDs have been a thing that has seem a bit redundant because we have MP already.

    Yes, both MP and CDs help hold back people from going crazy in a thread with spells but that does not mean that we really need to have both to hinder what members can do on site so much, especially with lower level spells. MP already limits what a person can use so much to an extent with some people going through their MP in a post or two if they are not careful, which is even with cooldowns in effect.

    So my idea is that we use CDs for PvP and continue to have apps made the same way with CDs with the CDs stated for PvP because magic apps are graded with the mindset that a person could potentially PvP at some point anyways. The change comes in rules we put up that states something like...

    Pvp cooldowns:

    Pvp cooldowns and Non-PvP Cooldowns:

    So pretty small fix with little editing on site for staff to have to do but with a big impact that I think many on site would actually enjoy seeing as most people do not PvP and the site is not based on PvP but on the stories we make together.

    Tell me what you guys think about this.

    Edit: made it so H-rank spells are the only thing with a cooldown in non-story related PvP posts. It is now you can only use a H-rank spell per post due to how powerful they are.

    I support this. I see jobs and stuff being something where you tell a story and being hindered by Cooldown is kind of a silly restriction during jobs. While I'm not a fan of both MP costs and CD for abilities, I feel this is a good step in the right direction. Though, a lot of people already do this (but it doesn't hurt to make it official)

    I think I agree with no cooldowns for spells on jobs, especially since now they can be done by word count, so generally they're done in a fewer amount of really long posts, making the more powerful spells only able to be cast like once or twice in the thread, whereas back when post number requirements were a thing, it was less of a problem.

    I agree with the no cooldowns on missions since like it was mentioned above it is normally done with wordcount anyways. my suggestion to this could be that cooldowns are still used for PVP but if a battle has any chance of taking place it must be mentioned in the title so any participants know what they are getting into.

    Yup. I had that mentioned in the PvP rules with CDs being what they are written in the magic as. I can edit to make it clearer though.

    I do believe that this is probs a better way to go about it for everything that was stated now that I look at it a few times. But what do we do if someone tries to abuse this?? It probably is unlikely since not many people pvp anyway. So what can we do to prevent that??

    How do we stop people from abusing cooldowns in PvP currently? It wouldn't change, since the PvP cooldown rules aren't going to change, just the ones for jobs.

    Most H ranks are once per thread anyways, and the CD for S's in PvP seems fair. Having them in jobs can be a pain, so I'm all for this. Would make things easier for people.

    To be honest. PvP is PvP and the spells should retain their cooldowns as per the magic rules. Regardless of if it's storyline related or not. Because you'll have people fighting in the arena/coliseum/whatever and they go against someone spamming H Rank spells constantly. They'll say "unfair!" and I can foresee a lot of griping when it comes to that. So I think PvP, regardless of the situation, should retain the cooldowns as per usual. ((Otherwise, there's no real point of having cooldowns in the magic rules))

    (I still have my opinions on cooldowns on this site, but that's neither here nor there).

    You were completely with this not too long ago so it is kind of weird to see you not with it now but cooldowns are completely different now compared to how they used to be when threads were based on post count and word count. Threads now are based on word count meaning if a spell is on cooldown for 3-4 posts that could be most of the thread which is weird when we have MP as a source to slow us down from spamming already along with cooldowns. It makes little sense of having both especially while in a thread that requires you to use your higher rank spells to get anywhere.

    You yourself had said in the past that people do not follow cooldowns or MP usage and many other things so why would we keep the rules up for it if people aren't obeying them? We either enforce them and stress the site out or we adapt to what people are doing and make things more comfortable for everyone.

    PvP is a different breed because you are not simply fighting an NPC you control but a person and when fighting someone a post can be seconds spread out a certain number of words meaning that having cooldowns for spells makes a bit more sense where with some other threads it can span from minutes to hours or even days between each other between uses of spells.

    What this system is for is to promote RP and not PvP. If you fight someone and it is related to story like an event or a job, etc then you are good because it is mostly planned out enough that everyone involved is fine with the results but PvP on site has been a way for people to get exp and is where the site takes on more of a 'this is a game' feel so it is hindered more and plays like a game rather than playing like a story would.
