Primary Magic: Winter's Warmth | 2nd Generation Fire Dragon Slayer
Secondary Magic: N/A
Caster or Holder: Caster
Description: The ages have known their Slayers for many things; their rarity, most particularly, eventually became the subject of interest for the curious humans. Over time, the concept of magic broadened, and along with the growth of society came the dawn of discovery that marked an entirely new chapter for Slayer magic in general: the creation of Lacrimas imbued with the ability to wield the same abilities as those who have trained under the beings themselves. Ironically, these crystals don't come cheap, and one could jest at how their prices and stocks in the market seem to boast rarity still.
The Fire Dragon Lacrima that exists in Edith's body holds great sentimental value for its original keeper, Romiriarez, but with an intention of gracing her adoptive daughter with magic to brave the worlds outside, she'd sacrifice whatever memory she held unto it in favor of the younger girl's well being. Following the implant, Edith now manages to access a Dragon Slayer's fire as if it were her own, fully capable of conjuring flames as well as digesting them like a slayer of that element would ordinarily do.
There is, however, something strikingly different about the nature of Edith's form of power. Unlike the natural aggressiveness of Slayer magic, her flame is gentle and calm -soothing, almost (though it too, has its tendencies of rupturing into a brighter, more pronounced threat). Perhaps the strangest quality of her magic, despite being purely composed of heat and flame, is how there have been recorded times that it can come off as cold rather than hot, giving a sense of chill as it spreads. It's actually believed that this is a manifested effect of Ria "sealing" part of her essence into the lacrima, simply to achieve a freezing sensation over a burning sensation. Though this hasn't been proven, for sure, in fact, Ria seems to deny it overwhelmingly. Thankfully, not all the flames under Edith's palm has this nature to it.
Promptly, Ria has labeled Edith's magic as "Winter's Warmth", in accordance to the anomaly.
Strengths:
✖Any sort of fire-based attack is automatically rendered useless to an extent against a slayer of her kind.
✖Burns and other heat-based status effects are known to deal very little pain (she's also quite immune to fevers, in a way).
✖It's two times more effective against dragons, lizards, or wyvern inclined beings (with the exception of fellow dragon slayers, of course).
✖It has great advantage against nature, ice and wind magic, in a sense that plants easily burn, ice easily melts, and wind magic may act as a "fan" to significantly strengthen the magnitude of the flames.
✖Unlike the more natural version of it, her variant has a more supportive side to it, making her valuable for team play as both front line damage, crowd-control, and semi-support.
Weaknesses:
✖Notably weak against water-based magics for obvious reasons.
✖Though the magic possesses a "cold" aspect to it, this does not imply that the user can consume ice-based attacks.
✖Edith cannot digest the flames of a Demon and God Slayer, but they're freely capable of doing so when it comes to her attacks.
✖Has a general disadvantage against lightning-based magics, seeing as lightning may weave or pass through the fire with little to no effort.
✖There's plenty of friendly fires involved when using the non-supportive spells.
✖Because of its spontaneity sometimes, it can do very little in terms of stealth and can be easily evaded due to the flames being messy and rough in general.
✖Though the flames are cold in a sense, they aren't composed of ice-like materials, but rather have lost their burning sensation and was replaced with a chill. Following this, an ice slayer may be able to consume it, however, not without getting severe stomachaches.
Lineage: Blessed by the Fourth Wall
Description: The ancestor in here could have turned into a god, but nooooo, he had to preserve the fabric of reality or something. For this lineage, this ancestor, known as the One Who Got Close, is the only one to have found the Fourth Wall of the world, giving himself the chance to break it and ascend to the heights that are unknown, basically, us. However, when told by the wall that breaking it would sacrifice everyone else in the world, the noble goody-two-shoes chose to stop himself instead and as a result, he was blessed by the Fourth Wall. This blessing would go down to his bloodline and now you, oh lucky guy, are one of his kin.
Ability: The Fourth Wall respects the user's bloodline and has given those of it the Glimpse, the ability to see what the user should not be able to see. Of course, to respect the purpose of the Fourth Wall, the user can only see one "Thing" at a time. Such as a snippet from a magic or character app (See 2 strengths or 2 weaknesses, see 2 likes or 2 dislikes, and so on.), or from another post to know someone is for example pursuing them or that someone is going to make a certain attack on them within the current post.
Usage: 5 post cooldown between uses
Unique Abilities:
- Spoiler:
✖AURIC CHANNEL | Passive Toggle On-Off: Following her rebirth was the presentation of the greatsword Caliburn, described as a blade that had been unsheathed by kingly existence from its previous location, wedged into a hard slab of rock. Now, Caliburn remains as but a shadow of its former glory. It's still significantly potent as Edith's first line of offense, however. With the manifestation of her magic, she is able to demonstrate her bond with Caliburn (labeled Gwynevere by Edith) in the form of a faint, scarlet aura that extends from her body to the weapon. When active, every 'normal' attack she does with Caliburn will have a supplementary fire element, along with a 25% physical damage increase to each slash (not counting weapon boosts) and a 25% increase to her overall speed that affects her melee attacks, but not spell speed.
✖SINEWY BODY | Active: Her days of rigid training by the heat of a relentless flame seemed to do wonders for her unpracticed body, as if the fires inside her being responded in a way that brought about a significant change to her body's orientation. Each spell that has been cast from her primary magic grants her 5% damage resistance (capping out at 50%) whilst any ailment of her rank or lower is automatically "burned" by the essence of flame from within her body, causing them to last two posts less than their original duration.
✖DEEP BLUE | Duration is Dependent on Spell Used:The very existence of a cold flame alludes Romiriarez to this very moment, but she has little argument against the nature of her daughter's magic as it is now, and, over time, the Winter Lily seemed to have gained a degree of interest for Edith's development along with identifying a more realistic use for the docile flames. Through her studies, she discovered that these fires were much more supportive in nature: where the chill was often soothing rather than painful. With diligent effort, the woman had managed to polish her daughter's skill into something that greatly affected her battle prowess. The presence of a cold flame will automatically turn all her offensive spells into supportive ones, whilst defensive spells will lean towards protecting another party (what the spells do as a blue flame will be put into the spell description). Not all spells have this option made available, however. *Any spell cast in this mode cannot be used offensively, meaning the blue flame would not deal any damage at all.*
Spells:
- D-Rank:
- Winter Aconite:
- Name: Ignis Draconia: Winter Aconite
Rank: D
Type: Offensive | Supportive
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: 2 posts
Description: The Eranthis, or the Winter Aconite, was a very popular flush of yellow in Ria's garden in the early spring when snow was still mostly dominant. Edith greatly admired their tenacity to endure the chill of the cold months, and hence, she seemed to adopt these small bulbs as one of her basic spells. Not only out of fondness, but because they were easy to imagine as balls of fire due to their yellow colors.
To cast, the user will need nothing but a snap to their fingers, conjuring a flower like fire-formation, resembling an Eranthis, on the underside of their palm as well as atop the heads of five exposed targets within a 10 meter radius. By destroying the first Aconite in the user's palm, the other flowers would crumble as well, generating small bursts of flames that would deal full D-rank damage to the closest marked target (in relevance to her position, which should be within five meters from her), while dealing 75% of D-rank damage to the remaining targets. If Edith were to use Caliburn to destroy the first flower, then the total damage she deals in that given second would also be added to the damage dealt to the targets (which caps at an additional 1 D-rank damage to the closest marked target, and 75% to the surrounding area).
✖DEEP BLUE: Eranthis: When casted through the cold flames, the Aconite becomes a mode of healing for five allies within a 10 meter radius, healing the same amount of damage it deals as a regular spell (100% for the closest ally within a five meter radius and 75% to the remaining). If Edith uses her weapon to destroy the first Aconite, it'll heal the same amount of damage that she were to deal in that given second (which cannot exceed a full D-rank's worth in damage for the closest ally, and 75% for the surrounding). Edith cannot cast the heal version of this on herself.
Strengths:
✖The process is instantaneous and simple enough to be executed in the heat of battle.
✖The "marker" flowers aren't visible to opposing targets.
Weaknesses:
✖Mages of higher-ranked than the caster have the ability to perceive the flowers, making it possible to destroy them by aiming a blunt force at them.
✖The targeting is limited to 5 enemies only and this cannot be boosted by outside abilities.
✖Stepping out of its range exempts you from the marking.
- Witch Hazel:
- Name: Ignis Draconia: Witch Hazel
Rank: D
Type: Offensive
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: 2 posts
Description: The Witch Hazels were curious little flower trees that were bundled up in one corner of Ria's extensive garden, though their charming blossoms seemed eye-catching still even at a distance. Due to their 'firework' like nature, it wasn't surprising that Edith funded one of her spell's inspiration on the patchwork of red and yellow that the Hazels would form on the early days of Spring.
To cast the Witch Hazel, the user creates a fist with their free hand, creating a circular flame that loosely resembles a single blossom of the flower. When launched at a target (5 meters per second, max distance of 10 meters), it'll shatter into smaller 'blossoms' that'll aim at the two closest targets within a 5 meter radius from the original target (3 meters per second, max of 5 meters). The first target gets a full D-rank damage, whilst the others each receive half a D-rank in damage. All targets are pushed back 1 meter upon impact.
✖DEEP BLUE: Hamamelis: In its Deep Blue variant, the Witch Hazel is known as the Hamamelis, a spell that can be used to heal the caster by aiming the first Hazel at themselves rather than an opposing target. Like the original, it'll split into smaller blossoms that would heal two nearby allies in a 5 meter radius with half a D-rank.
Strengths:
✖Best used in situations where the enemies are huddled up close together.
Weaknesses:
✖Loud and alarming, so its easily evaded.
✖It can be blocked by shields.
- Azalea:
- Name: Ignis Draconia: Azalea
Rank: D
Type: Buff | Offensive | Supportive
Duration: 3 post
Cooldown: 4 posts
Description: The Azaleas were blossoms of softness and femininity, being the bright rows of pink that always charmed Edith in her younger days whenever it was time to tend to Ria's garden. Notably, it seems the flowers didn't only charm their way into her memory, but they seemed to have become some sort of staple in her magic as well.
The casting process involves a twirling motion from the caster, collecting fire in her steps. After a successful revolution, fire-y magic circles would appear at her ankles, allowing her movements to appear lightweight and graceful, where her base jumping height is increased by 20 meters and her speed in upped by an additional 25%. Edith has the option to end the buff, whether prematurely or before its duration is over, through an attack phase that comprises of an upward jumping motion, sending her body airborne. At her descent, she uses her sword to "break" the seals, where the force of the action causes an explosion (made of flames that almost look like bundles of Azaleas) that extends outwards from her figure at a speed of 10 meters per second for a total distance of 15 meters per second. The explosion will only take effect once she lands, and will deal full D-rank knock-back damage to the closest enemy within range a five meter radius, whilst dealing 75% of D-rank knock back damage to the remaining enemies.
✖DEEP BLUE: Rhododendron: As a cold flame, the Azalea is known as the Rhododendron, a supportive spell that summons a wide magic circle, affecting any ally within a 15 meter radius. Provided that they remain in range, allies will gain a boost of 20 meters to their base jumping height, and a 25% increase to their speed. When Edith chooses to "break" the large seal, it'll eventually heal all allies that remained in the circle with HP equivalent to one D-rank damage to the closest ally within a five meter radius, and 75% for the allies past that. The Rhododendron does not affect Edith, however.
Strengths:
✖Greatly serves both its functions as a buff and a "finishing" move.
Weaknesses:
✖When the buff is ended prematurely, it still retains its original cool down.
✖The time it takes for her to descend could be easily seen as a moment of escape for enemy targets.
✖The burst could potentially harm any ally within the given distance.
- Narcissus:
- Name: Ignis Draconia: Narcissus
Rank: D
Type: Utility | Offensive
Duration: 1 post
Cooldown: 2 posts
Description: The beautiful Lent Lily, or the Narcissus, was one of Ria's favorites, such that she'd often associate it with her brother, Eligos, whose armor and hair color matched the yellow sheen of these spring blossoms. In essence, Edith seemed to hold great admiration for her uncle Eligos, so it was easy to incorporate both him and the image of Narcissus' into her magic.
With the structure of these blossoms in her head, Edith positions her blade in a "thrusting" stance, pulling her arms back at a curve. Upon her own will, the Narcissus would launch her forward instantaneously at a speed of 10 meters per second, max of 15 meters. The tip of her weapon acts as a medium of force where the flames would focus on. By pushing her sword forward, she can break through a cluster of enemies within a 15 meter triangle (or 5 meter circle) in one extensive slash of fire (dealing normal melee damage), where her body would settle on the side parallel to the enemy cluster. Sheathing her sword causes the first hit target to receive full D-rank damage, whilst the succeeding enemies receive 75% of D-rank damage each in the form of an explosive flame, the burst looking like Narcissus' reaching for the sky.
This spell has no DEEP BLUE variant.
Strengths:
✖Its a lot more effective in a clustered group of enemies. The more enemies, the better the hit box.
Weaknesses:
✖Though the hit box depends on the number of opponents, many can evade this by simply stepping out of range.
✖Its easy to calculate her next move by her assumed stance, which is unlike her other spells that need minimal actions to cast.
