Job: The King of Beasts
Rank: B
Player Requirements: B-Ranked Wizard(s). C-Ranked Wizards may only come if they accompany a B-Ranked Wizard. 300 word per post requirement. Thread must be at least 30 posts long. Must make 3 Monster Rolls Minimum.
Job Requirements: Find the Lion Pride outside of Hunter Village, bring back the tail, or tooth of the King of Beasts as proof of your victory. Must defeat one form of the Grand Lion.
(Note: Chief's Name is Up Too You, as Are Other Small Aspects)
Job Location: Hunter Village
Job Description:
Enemies:
Weak: Young Lions x10 (These young beasts aren't fully grown, and are in adolescence. They are nimble as can be, and somewhat powerful even in brute force. They can surround you quickly, and strike without hesitation. They show no fear, unless you display something that is too frightening for any animal too conceive of. If you display magic of A-Rank or above, they will flee. Takes one or two hits too down.)
Normal: Lionesses x5 (These fem fatals are as deadly as one would expect the hunters of a lion pride too be. They are fast, and strong, able too dominate an unaware or an opponent who underestimates them quickly. They will attempt too hide, and strike if possible. Their claws do C-Ranked damage, and their bite does B-Ranked damage. Takes 3 hits too down each Lioness.)
Strong: Grand Lion (This Lion is MUCH too big, likely the biggest you've ever seen or will see. He stands easily thirty feet above the ground at the top of his head. He is about forty feet from head too the tip of his tail. He can leap vast distances due to his size, and will attempt too pounce near you and eat you in one fell swoop. He will claw at you if you move around a lot, and his swipes are quite fast. His leaping stomps and pounces deal B-Ranked damage too you and if he bites you you'll either be swallowed or ripped for A-Rank damage. If you're swallowed, you'll have too deal 10 hits of consistent B-Ranked damage too escape his stomach. If you miss too much, within the next 10 posts after being swallowed and do not escape within 10 posts, you pass out and you'll be done for. It takes 10 hits of B-Ranked damage too down this colossal beast, and 15 hits of C-Ranked damage too down him.)
Boss: Grand Lion *Berserk* (The Grand Lion is having a pissy day. He's enraged, and is even lashing out against his own lionesses. His usual stomps and pounces are much more brutal in this form, as he makes it a point too stamp around his targets after landing on them. He deals B-Ranked and A-Ranked damage with his leaps and pounces in this form. He is incredibly fast, as if driven, and will reach you in a matter of moments when charging. He lacks the intelligence he'd have if he wasn't enraged, but this makes him all the more deadly since it takes more too bring down this adrenaline infused King of Beasts. His bite does A-Ranked damage here, as he doesn't choose too swallow but too rip and shred his opponents, shaking them around in his mouth if he's got you bitten before tossing you too the ground and likely attempting too stamp on you. His mighty roar will stun you for the next post if you don't hide behind something, use some form of magic too protect against sound or simply quickly cover your ears. His roar shakes the ground and ripples waves into the air. Takes 15 hits of B-Ranked damage to bring him down in this Berserker Form. Or 25 hits of C-Ranked damage.

What allowed a person to simply wake up without a plan? What allowed for a person to simply decide that they would do X, Y, or Z on a given day? How could a person live such a volatile life? How could one, especially on like Vlad, live life like this? Well, it was something that he had decided a while back. What was life without some form of unknown? This way of living was known, at least to him, as "winging it." By winging it, a person could experience a new adventure every day, and what was the best part of this? Having no knowledge of what tomorrow could bring. This was one of the few things that allowed Vlad to a life he found interesting. This is what made Vlad who he was; this is what allowed him to progress as far as he had in such a short time.
It was a rather average morning. The sun had just rose and already began to disturb Vlads slumber. The animals already having decided to begin their day; squirrels moving about, deer running through the land; these noises, all coupled with the constant shine of the sun, caused Vlad to awaken from his sleep; with a yawn the man would simply rub his eyes. He had no real plans for this day, as per usual, and decided that he had to stop into town; it was time to check the job board. Perhaps he would find some sort of entertainment for the day; well, maybe it would last for longer than a day? Shit, who knew these days. It was with this that he would simply shit his weight to the right. Falling through the air Vlad was able to awaken rather quickly, regain total control of his senses. The hold that sleep once held upon him now completely dissipated. Turning his body, he simply hit the ground with a loud thud. His boots holding firm beneath him. "Where am I?" Vlad asked.
This was a situation in which he often found himself; after a long day he usually was able to simply wander through the woods until he was ready to drift off to sleep; it was with this that he had decided where he would sleep. Seeing as there was no system to this behavior, he would usually awaken anywhere from a few to a few miles from town. The town, however, was always wherever he had decided to end his days. This was the fun of winging it; the unknown. Sure, it could be an inconvenience, but who cares? It was this lax attitude that he would being to pat himself off. Which way was is again? He thought to himself, though it served no use.
Making a decision, with no real facts to support this decision, he simply headed east. It took him a few minutes to finally reach the town; it seemed to be a rather small community with only a single job board; it was a bit annoying, simply because of how crowded the board was, but he could simply take his time; there was no rush at the moment. It had taken him a few moments of simply moving aside documents, to finally find one that seemed interesting enough to take. "Well, I suppose this will do..." He chuckled, simply ripping it from the board. This job, however, was located in Hunter Village; well, this meant he had to take a little trip.
Beginning his walk off to Hunter Village he began to read the flier over once more. While he usually made this decision by skimming over the job, he would always end up reading the full job on the way. It seemed that the chief wanted a Lion dead; the exact details were not printed on this paper, though he had a few ideas that would explain this. Local children missing, or perhaps adults? Livestock were dying? Who knew for sure? All that he knew was that this would be a rather interesting day.
After an hour, or so, of traveling Vlad had finally reached his destination; at least, he had reached the outskirts of the town. "Well, at least I do not need to worry about people realizing who I am." He chuckled, doubting any knew his identity. In a place like this, who even cared? So long as he was able to complete the job for them he doubted that they would care who he was. Having looked at the paper once more he would simply fold it and out it into his right pocket; it spoke of a place to meet this Chief; he was meant to inform all participants, assuming there were others that would come, to the situation in which they would find themselves.
Simply looking around the area he decided to enter the village; it took him a few moments, but he was able to find the specified location; it seemed to be the center of the village. Simply leaning himself against the outside of some building, Vlad had to wait; patience was key in some situations. This, however, did not last very long; spotting the chief Vlad quickly approached the male. "I heard you had a Lion problem? Care to explain the problem to me?" He asked, confidence glowing from his words. Perhaps it was because he knew how to speak to people, when he wanted, that he was often able to pass as a law abiding citizen; his demeanor was nothing like those one typically attributed to a villain; no, he was much more calm, approachable. It was rather pleasant.
After ten, or so, minutes of having the situation explained Vlad began to turn; he was ready to leave and complete this rather simply task. It was then that the chief grabbed him by the shoulder, explaining that there was another mage to come with me. It seemed he was meant to help a youngin on their journey. Let them learn a thing or two. It was with this that Vlad simply sighed and agreed. He only hoped they would be interesting, perhaps even useful.

Re: To Slay a King (Private|Mavis)
Mavis was in a state of dream, remember the past, which the story of her mother's death told to her by her father haunted her.
-
Mavis' mother Liliana had delivered Mavis the baby, on the verge of exhaustion and death.
"Pick it up slave!" Rankyu kicked Liliana onto the ground.
Liliana had only a day to rest after birth, she had dropped her pickax, far to weak to mine.
Rankyu spat on her. "You're daughter will replace you."
Liliana had weakly grabbed his ankle, in anger. "D-Don't you dare touch Mavis..."
He began to grind his right black loafer into her head. Liliana screamed in pain as he grinded her head into the cold ground. Pulling out Liliana's gun he had taken from her days before he pointed it at her head. - All that was heard that night was a woman screaming and a fire, the night became silent. Only to be disturbed by a crying baby.
"Hush child..." Rankyu shushed his daughter.
He began to raise Mavis as one of his slaves, just like her mother. When she began four she was transferred to one of his private islands, a island dedicated to slavery.
Over the years Mavis did work as told. Following in her mothers footsteps.
"Hey... that hurt." A small Mavis rubbed her cheek. A hooded figure had slapped the small girl with a dark smile.
He slapped her again, this time harder. "It's suppose to! Work harder you little runt!" He cackled.
A boy with brown swept hair gritted his teeth. "Hands off her!!"
He threw punches at the hooded-man unaffected.
The boy's face met by the bottom of the man's boot. "Learn your place, weakling."
The small boy gritted his teeth, Mavis had held him back by his arms. "Jeri! Stop... It's okay..."
He nodded, trying to hide his anger at the man.
She rubbed his back comforting him. "You okay... he hit you pretty hard..."
She looked at the ground, she felt as if it was all her fault.
Jeri could obviously tell she felt guilty, he wiped the blood from his nose, and gave a small smile. "Look, I'm good see? Haha. No worries, promise."
The two children were orphans, bound to be friends right away. It was destiny calling them together. The differences between the two was Mavis was sold to the slavers, only a few mere months old, Jeri had lost his family to the slavers, abducting children and mass murdering adults. Mavis studied maps every night, due to a little promise between the two. Jeri practiced with sticks on his sword wielding posture and his striking.
A few nights before Jeri had stood up to the man, Jeri and Mavis sat by a fire.
Mavis looked at Jeri, curious. "Hey... Jeri Sugimo- Sugika- Sugi burrito..."
Jeri glared at her and scoffed. "It's Sugioto..."
She nodded. "Right. Jeri Sugioto. What's your dream."
Jeri pondered for a bit looked into the fire, a intense look in his eyes, obviously a deep question to him. "My dream... to be the strongest swordsman with my magical sword, to avenge my fallen. To protect the weak who can't do it themselves... but I can't accomplish my dream... unless I get off this island. What's your dream, Mavis?"
Mavis looked at the ground. "I don't have a dream... at least not yet. The slavery life is all I know... I was raised a slave. So I guess I didn't dream big, but... now my dream is. It is to help you! I'll study every map, every inch of every map and learn to navigate and get us off this island! And to somewhere safe"
The two smiled and nodded. Their goals set and dreams in reach. They would grow to be quite the friends, Jeri practiced in secrecy his sword fighting, and Mavis her navigation by studying the maps. They continued their work on the island as slaves, so they wouldn't expect it. They made plans to escape, routed out where the extra ships were, and timing on how to make a ruckus big enough to escape on the ship.
However their plan wasn't going quite the way they wanted it too. The island was invaded by two pirates.
"Jeri!! What's going on!" She got up from her bed scared, only to be cradled by Jeri.
Jeri informed her rubbing Mavis' back. "From what I've gathered, two pirates are attacking the slavers, they call themselves the Chain Pirates, but they're hardly a crew of pirates."
Mavis got up trying to yank him up. "Lets go Jeri! We can go with the pirates!"
Jeri gave her a cold stare. "No. Not pirates, not with these jokers."
Mavis looked down at the ground, clenching her fists. "Why... are you being so difficult!!"
Jeri glared at her. "Why are you rushing into danger?!"
She looked away. "Who said it was danger..."
Jeri gave a quiet chuckle. "What happened to Mavis Lockheart, the girl who was cautious and could avoid danger and find a safer way around anything. Now. Now you're saying we should go with some pirates?! We don't even know them!"
She huffed. "I feel like this is our destiny! Please, Jeri!"
Jeri shrugged it off. "Go. I am not."
-
The dream would end as she was awoken by the Bartender of Pegasus, he had yet again gathered another mission for the woman to take on today. Mavis sighed, she was exhausted but of course she would take on a mission to help out the guild anyway she could, it was only natural to do anything and everything to help out a guild she cares about.
"Mavis, here head to this village." The bartender slipped her a paper, it held the information for the mission. "I hear you have a partner for this mission as well though"
Mavis nodded heading off to her destination, once arriving at the small village, Mavis looked around for anyone familiar, like Fade or maybe even her guild-mate, who went and found a lion cub with her. However when her eyes laid on someone of familiarity she was astonished by who she had been assigned to work with. It was Vlad. How did she get assigned with someone as powerful as him? However either way she was lucky to be missioning with a familiar face.
Mavis blinked staring at him, "Vlad...?"
She slowly walked towards him, surprised.
"So, how do you suggest we start this mission, Vlad?" Mavis asked her newly-found partner.
Excited to work with the man, their last meeting was cut-off since she fell and got embarrassed and ran off from him. Just too embarrassed to even talk or wave bye to him, it was awful, however maybe she can redeem herself here.

Re: To Slay a King (Private|Mavis)
serenity is not stillness.

Vlad was not sure who was going to be accompanying him on this job, though from what the chief had said it seemed they would be a mage of lower ranking; this, however, is not always a bad thing. There are plenty of mages at a lower level who had magic that was handy; this, however, was not the case with them all. Vlad had hoped that they would be somewhat useful, or entertaining. Either way, he would be happy. It had taken a few moments, but eventually the mage had arrived.
"Oh, look who it is!" He chuckled, walking over to the young mage. "How have you been Mavis? Are you feeling better? I do hope we can enjoy ourselves as we did in the park." He gave a slight chuckle and winked at the girl. Perhaps this would be an interesting day, perhaps it would be one where he wouldn't have to do all the work, though now he wouldn't mind. He has the idea that there was something lurking beneath the facade she wore, but he had no proof. Why pursue it without proof?
"Well, how have you been dear?" He asked, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. "Do tell me, what have you been up to since our last encounter? Have a fun time? Power up a bit? Maybe even grow up a bit? I see the assets are as... prominent as ever." He spoke with the same smirk that he often wore. It was with this that he would begin to walk, leading her away from the center of the village; they had to start this job soonish, that is, assuming the chief was correct in his assumptions. Something about it begin a very gnarly thing. A beast without limits? Well, why not hunt that in the daylight? Especially with a lower ranked mage. He didn't feel like risking the failure simply due to miscommunication or, even worse, a type of illusion. The dark can do things to people, and he did not want to assume the others were as apt in the dark as he was. "So, do tell me! Who do you serve? I take it you are a legal mage, but I am not certain. I do not believe that ever came up last we talked. If it did, then you can say that my memory is hazy!" It was with this that he simply scratched the back of his head. He was unsure of how he was expected to find this one specific lion, let alone tell it apart from the rest of the ones that would, surely, be present. "Well, we are about to have a really fun time! I suppose I should warn you. Some of my magic does not care for allies! This means that you may feel my magic. Kinda intimate, isn't it?" He laughed at his own comment. "Well, either way! I do suppose we should be on our way?" It was with this that they would exit the village, and begin their descent into the forest.
It was with the first step outside the village that a person could feel the difference; it was immediate and was, possibly, the reason many decided not to visit this village very often. Perhaps this would change that? Perhaps this place, which was in desperate need of an economic boost, would receive some new clients! Well, this was something that could not be determined until after the job was completed, until after some time had passed; it would not be known for quite some time.
"Well, where do you suppose we should be looking first? Have any suggestions? I am all ears!" He spoke, actually willing to listen to a suggestion. This was actually very different than how he would usually be. On an average day he would simply ignore his partner, but today he was feeling awfully generous; plus, it was always good to listen to what a woman has to say; it often bites one on the ass when they choose not to.
It had been no more than a minute since their descent into the forest and things were changing at an amazing pace. The amount of shrubbery instantly tripled, no. It was ten times more prominent than it was outside the forest. This was something that was both, a benefit and a disadvantage. With all this shrubbery, and foliage, it was very easy to track the movements of animals, however, it also made things a bit more complicated. Having their view obstructed could be very dangerous, however, Vlad was still able to see the souls. While it was busy, it did suck that he was not able to actually see their corporeal bodies, alas, he would make due with what he had.
"So, tell me! Why take this job? You wouldn't survive on your own... You sorta got lucky that I'm here." He chuckled, patting the girl on the head. "Think a bit more! Don't get yourself killed." This was some solid advice, especially considering everything that could have happened; hell, it could have gotten very bad simply on the way here! To be honest, there was no need to worry about something that didn't happen, but that does not mean it may not next time. Or the time after that. Who knows?
Given the situation they were in, it seemed that they may have to spend multiple days on this job; Vlad, however, was not so keen on this. Well, he may not challenge it if the two were to share a room, but he doubted that it was going to happen. Well, you never knew.
Well, no matter what was to occur, he was sure that they would be able to survive; if it there was something Vlad was amazing at it was surviving. There was less then a .1% chance of them dying on this job, and Vlad was going to ensure their survival. Well, it was time to put it all to the test. Time to hunt.

Re: To Slay a King (Private|Mavis)
Mavis was still at a shock, staring at her new-found partner for this mission she had been assigned, she kept blinking and staring out at the man, was he even real? This could all be an illusion, she did have a pretty risky breakfast that morning, it wasn't your average meal she had tried Octopus, she had no clue why she did but she felt like being a daredevil. Octopus the most foul creature alive, stinky, eight-legged, slimy and sucked you to death. Oh the thoughts mortified the woman, now that she thought about it she felt really sick to her stomach, oh god was it crawling out of her stomach to take revenge on her for trying to eat it?! It was cooked right, and killed? It didn't move when she swallowed it, she was to afraid to chew it because of it's suction cups, I mean why use the suction cups, why would you wanna suck on something to death? What a weird creature, besides how would you suck something to death?
Mavis slightly waved at Vlad, astonished, "Oh hey you..."
His wink caused her to turn red, she cursed mentally. Mavis slowly looked away, refusing to face the man, her personality was a lot different from before when they had met. The once bold woman was now shy and hiding inside a shell. When he called her dear she took a step back, her legs felt like putty. She felt like she was burning up and her limbs were jello/putty something squishy and easily dis-formed.
"O-Oh I've been good you know..." Mavis shyly smiled.
When he had asked the woman what she had been up to she thought back on everything, how could she explain what she had done since they last met. She had done so many things from telling a child her fish had died to finding a baby cub at Serene Cliff.
"You see, I recently had told a girl probably no older than seven her fish had died and one day her daddies would die too." Mavis boldly stated, now that she thought about it, it did sound harsh. "I also helped a man named Fade repair a house."
Mavis pondered on what else she had done, she knew she did a lot but when it came to pin-pointing them she couldn't think of much. Not anything important, or of a level to be noted or even given recognition.
"Oh! I did help out at a Blood Donor." As she told him, something she held dear to her had smacked her memory right in the face, "Oh wait! I had recently done a shooting for Sorcerers Weekly, I had always wanted to be in the Magazine so it was really huge for me. I'm glad they allowed me to, Chanelle even let me keep the outfit for myself, I was surprised she did after all the effort she put into it." She smirked, "But then again for a professional designer like her it was probably really easy for her, she probably did it in her sleep too!"
Mavis felt like she had felt her personality had quickly changed when she really engaged in the conversation with him, she could hear it for herself too, the tone of her voice differed from a much shy and quieter voice to a more cheery tone. It seemed her alignment had interested the pretty-boy, well that wouldn't be the first, plus she was one to be curious of someones alignment as well.
"Well you see, I hail from Blue Pegasus, I've been there for only a short time, maybe a few weeks. However I've done and represented the guild on all my missions. They've even signed me to work on missions along with other guilds to show we still exist." Mavis began to inform him on the current situation, "Although I'm sure you already know our situation the guild quickly began dying out, I however didn't wish to see that happen to a guild that had once been so mighty and popular, so I joined them. I plan to carry this guild with my own wings, even alone I will make this guild soar, with everything I have." She smirked, "I've even got a few people to join, a girl specifically who wanted to join Sabertooth, instead joined us Pegasi."
However, she wasn't alone, she remembered the dragon-like woman Akeya, she seemed like somebody you wouldn't want to piss off. Mavis would be sure to be cautious to anger the dragon woman. Then Natalia the crippled woman, due to her immense magic power, and then you had Ezra the charming man with a plan, unlike the other two. Who had thought it was best they venture fourth into a new era of Pegasi. Mavis agree'd with him to the end, it was time for change for the guild.
"Oh also that girl I convinced to join... she met me teaching a class how to dance, well twerk..." Mavis chuckled nervously, "That was an interesting day. Kinda weird, haha."
He began to warn Mavis of his magic, how it wouldn't care if she was his ally or not, even she would be blown away if not cautious. Mavis nodded. She noted that, she would be extra cautious when he engaged in battle around him.
"Noted." Mavis smiled nervously.
As they began their mission he asked where they should look first, "Well obviously the outskirts." She gave him a wink, "Later, maybe you can get a peak at my outskirts."
Laughing at her own pun and pick-up line, she was cleverly dirty. Mavis began to lead them, the outskirts looked to be a mix of tall safari grass and desert. Then a forest almost a jungle, in fact you could consider it a jungle, if you walked far enough, which they had and they had entered the jungle. It also seemed Vlad was keen on giving her advice, he seemed to question why she would take upon a job.
"I was assigned this mission by our bartender, he even warned me it was dangerous and I didn't have to, he said he could pass it onto one of our stronger members. I'll tell you exactly what I told him" Mavis grinned, "But this is my time to prove myself, I may be weak now, but it's missions like this that will truly allow me to grow... I don't want to be weak, I want to be a beacon of hope for people to look upon. Even if it's dangerous my will to win will surely conquer any situation."
Just as she told him her reasoning for being stubborn and taking the mission a foe had leaped out at her watched by it's allies, hopefully her partner's reaction time was faster than hers. Surely she wouldn't be killed but probably severely wounded if they were stronger enough. Mavis' thought about turning and firing a spell but would it be quick enough? Even though one foe had latched out at her the others remained on standby. Mavis, took a deep breathe bracing herself for the pain, hopefully she would survive.

Re: To Slay a King (Private|Mavis)
serenity is not stillness.

It seemed that the female had been rather busy with a plethora of jobs, though they were all tasks that Vlad had no use in doing any longer; sure, there was a time when he was in her shoes, but it was not now. He had been through that grind, and it was rather boring. The easy jobs; doing almost nothing and barely being rewarded. That's is the life of a D-rank mage. It sucked, but you had to live with it. Sure, it could be cut short. Hell, this job would probably advance her quite a bit, though he did question a few things of what she had said. "Blue Pegasus huh? With that attitude, you must really stand out! Yes, this is a compliment." He chuckled. It was with this that she would suggest the two investigate the outskirts first. "Well, I'm sure we could both use it. I mean, I am very talented with the... outskirts." He chuckled, returning the wink with a light smirk. Well, this day was definitely going to be interesting, perhaps it would have a happy ending. Well, a happy ending for Vlad.
It was with this hope, or rather lust, that he would continue out this job. It was not the easiest of things for Vlad to do, but he had to endure it. This was the disadvantage of being an incubus; he was usually able to be primed. Woman, especially the attractive ones, were able to easily set his mind off; lewd thoughts surging forth. This was the biggest problem he faced these days. They filled his mind to such a point where it became nearly impossible to focus on anything other than this lust which had been placed before him. It was not necessarily something he enjoyed; it was often annoyance he wished he could block. In this instance he caught himself looking Mavis over; it was true that he had seen her in her truest of forms once before, but now it was going affect his performance. He couldn't help himself though... Looking over the females body he had instantly noticed the ample breasts, round ass and sass. It was a rather enticing combination.
It was with this that Mavis would stop, bending over. Her skirt slowly moving up; revealing more and more of what lay underneath. It was as he reached his hand out that the illusion would fade and he would realize what was occurring. It seemed that they ha stumble upon some lions, though they did not match what they chief had told them. "Shit." He sighed, grabbing Mavis by the waist he yanked her into his arms; it was a rather odd way to shield her, but it worked. The Lion had lunged past the empty space, rather discontent. It seemed to be out for blood, its eyes as cold as stone. Flicking his wrist he would call forth his trusty scythe. There was very little else that Vlad relied on other than his Scythe; it was something only he could wield and call forth.
The beast quickly regained its composure as it began to assault the pari again. Spinning around, Vlad would slash at the beast; although it slit it's soul, his hand had ended up backhanding the beast.
Letting out a slight screech two lion cubs came forth; it seemed they all had an invested interested in this lioness; perhaps it was the mother? Well, the relationship between the three mattered not to Vlad. He was simply protecting the girl who had, inadvertently, incurred the wrath of the beasts. He did say that he would make sure she got through this, or did he? He could not remember, but he was sure that she would make it through this job. Each person had a certain role to play in the world, and it was interesting to think how each interaction could change that role. He wanted to see how this would play out. Call it a passing interest, or something that he planned to see out thoroughly. He was not sure yet. He did not have time to ponder this either; with all three beasts lunging forward he simply lashed out once more. As the beasts fell to the ground, defeated, they could hear the scampering of what could be mistake for a herd. Yes, it seemed he had been able to scare off quite a few by killing these. "Are you okay?" He turned around, grabbing Mavis by the chin and moving her face around. Evaluating her body, spinning her around, he was simply making sure she had held no damage. While there were not many things to make Vlad feel bad, one was allowing a lady to be hurt. Call it cliche, but it was something he could not allow to happen.
Wow, Vlad has a good side? Who would have expected that? Well, while it was not expected, it was definitely something that existed. Why reveal ones true self when all that they would get in return was something of lesser value; something that could potentially hurt them so deeply that it would make trusting others difficult. These are simply theories, and in no way are exact reasons for the way Vlad is how he is. In fact, it may simply be because he enjoys his actions. Who knew? This Vlad, however, had a soft spot for woman and children. They had to be protected.
"How are you feeling? Are you ready to continue?" He asked, patting her cheek. Perhaps she had sustained some trauma he could not see; her face echoed that of a person who was about to receive some form of pain; did she think he would harm her? Or was it simply because of the lions, which now lay dead at their feet? What was the cause? Well, it was not something he could possibly deal with. It seemed like they should get a move on it. Well, it was about time they got on the move again, and Vlad knew this. "If you cannot move I can carry you." He assured her.

Re: To Slay a King (Private|Mavis)
"Not much competition to stand out in Blue-Pegasus when it has very few members, but also when the highest ones are B-ranks and one crippled by her magic power and the other part dragon. It's difficult to stand out, as well as a man who randomly shows up with immense power" Mavis sighed, "SO not really, but hopefully one day I will stand out..."
It was good that Vlad had believed in her like Fade did, she remembered how he told her he believed in her, she was so happy.
However it quickly changed, Mavis couldn't move, her life flashing before her, was this her end? Mavis had worked so hard, now some mere lion was gonna end her story, how pathetic she wasn't actual Heroine material, a real Hero/Heroine doesn't give up, doesn't back down and knows what to do, but this one didn't she was still finding her groove. It just proved she had a long path before finding her way into becoming a legend, to making a name for herself. It was obvious this was a serious mission, her beauty wasn't going to easily get her through the day, it seemed this beautiful Queen-like figure now had to learn to be not only a beautiful being but a dangerous one too. Being a dangerous foe isn't a bad thing it actually was a good thing, and her beauty it would prove she wasn't just good for sitting still and looking pretty.
It was no lie, when you were on the brink of death or it felt like it, your life began to flash, it was sort of like how her projected flat-screens flashed ancient language scribbles down the screen, except it was her life. From being saved from the slave life by pirates, then defeating a gold-magic man with some pirates, even lecturing the small girl about her fish dying. She did regret a few choices, the one where she left Jeri in that slaver camp to take off with the pirates to escape her slave-life. Now she would never see or recognize him again and he had taken beatings for her, he took needless pain for her. Mavis didn't want to be so petty never again, not this frightened again.
However, all this fear was useless and vanished as she was snapped to reality. By reality she was snapped back and now held in the arms of Vlad.
'He... he's holding me?' Mavis thought to herself.
She couldn't deny it she felt immediately safe and at home in just his arms. It was like everything was moving twice as fast now, when it was before moving slower than usual like a slow replay back of a movie scene. She watched as the lions had been slashed back and defeated, she could hear them, the other ones fleeing away the ones who had been truly afraid of this grim-reaper-like man. However, they may have feared this terrifying man but Mavis envied him. He was so powerful, fearless and brave... so swift with his strikes.
He would be her inspiration she would try and be as strong as him, Mavis saw the glare of light reflecting in some tall grass. Mavis had jumped back, just in time yanking Vlad back with her. A lioness had leaped out to claw their eyeballs out. Mavis smirked, now was her time, her time to prove herself to him.
"Vlad-kuuun, lemme handle this one." Mavis told the man, confident in herself wanting to prove something to him, that something being that she could handle her own.
She quickly ran at the Lioness, trying her best to show no fear, however anyone could see she was trembling. The Lioness had no fear though, her movement swift as she jumped for Mavis. Mavis quickly noted the sharp claws, hopefully she wouldn't take a hit from those or it's strong-jaw.
"Hah!" Mavis had screamed as she jumped in the air to dodge the lioness' attack.
She quickly landed kicking the Lioness face, met by a scratch on her attire, ripping as well as the claw drawing blood. Mavis quickly wrapped her hand on her wound. Shit. This was more difficult than any other mission she had done. He wasn't lying, however she didn't plan on dying so soon.
However she wasn't the kind of Pegasus to yield and hold it's wings down in fear, now was the time to let them unfold and let her feathers glisten by the stage light. Mavis had ran at the Lioness again, and she watched at the Lioness went to claw her, Mavis slammed her boot's heel on the paw, using it as a start-point. Flipping over the Lioness, Mavis had used her Tri-chive Storm spell, the orbs formed by pixels began to circle Mavis, but quickly latched out at the Lioness when Mavis pointed at her. As the Lioness began to yield she blasted at the Lioness, which rushed out of projected flat-screens.
She could feel her body weakening from the lack of magic, however she wasn't one to stop fighting due to that. Mavis ran out at the Lioness opening a spell portal and a projected screen along with the spell portal, she would hold her right arm across her chest and then slash it side-ways as if she was doing a side-way karate chop. A flat wave had hit the Lioness. Mavis began to struggle to stand. Holy shit, this was really exceeding her usual use of her magic. Her legs began to tremble, but Mavis had won the fight as the Lioness laid knocked out from the barrage of attacks Mavis had unleashed on the beast.
"Are you... proud... Vlad." Mavis asked, pausing as her breathing became heavier and interrupted herself.
She weakly smiled at him, her hair ruffled her attire had a diagonal claw-mark on it. Mavis began to weakly walk off in a distance. Not even worrying about her current state. They had to accomplish their goals so they could be rewarded properly.
"This way, Vladdy." Her voice softer than usual, you could tell even talking was tiring to her, draining what bit of energy she had left.
However the woman was too determined to even suggest they should back down. Plus just having him around her made her confident they could win this fight, they had this in the bag. Who wouldn't with such a man who could summon a scythe with just a small action of his hand. However, maybe this reaper-like man couldn't handle the king of beasts, if that was the case it'd be a drag that they made it this far only to fail upon interaction with the King of Beasts, but she did her best to keep hope in the man

Re: To Slay a King (Private|Mavis)
serenity is not stillness.
● ● ● ●
● ● ● ●
It seemed that Mavis had some fight in her; this was something that was very unexpected. Seeing the girl simply charge at the lioness was something he did not expect... Well, this was the second surprise. The first had to be the way she had addressed him. It was rather unexpected, and made him chuckled slightly. This laugh, however, immediately halted when he had seen the female being hit by the lioness's claw. Perhaps he should not have allowed her to act on her own. If she had died due to some stupid move who knows how he would behave? Sure, as a dark mage people may suspect that he would have no cares for it, and in the beginning he wouldn't. It is simply the fact that he was tasked with protecting her and he had failed. He would have failed her, plus. She was rather attractive. It would be an unnecessary loss for the world. An unnecessary loss for him.
It seemed that Mavis felt the need to continue on, as though she had to prove herself. That's when he had heard her. Someone was looking to him for approval? Was this some sort of parallel universe? "Proud of you?" He spoke, befuddled. He had never heard someone ask if he was proud of them, and to be honest, he wasn't sure what to take of it? Was there some sort of reasoning behind it? Scheming? But, who would bother with such a thing? Asking such a simple question. "I suppose I am Mavis, I suppose I am." He chuckled, walking forward. It seemed that she thought it was wise to push ahead without him, but that wasn't going to fly. After what had just occurred why did she think he would allow this?
With a slight chuckled he would begin to walk deeper into the forest. He quickly approached Mavis, and as he did so grabbed her by the waist. With relative ease he would place the girl on his shoulder, a place that was relatively safe. While he doubted he would be met without opposition he simply held onto her tightly. He was not going to let her risk her won health again. "You're obviously hurt. Just relax and let me handle this. Okay?" He spoke, a softness to his voice. He doubted that aggression would get through to the girl and this seemed like the best way. This way was one that would, in his opinion, guarantee her obedience. Perhaps he was being too kind to this girl, but who cared? It is not as though there was anything saying he had to be the narcissistic prick he usually was. Well, it was nice to take a break from the norm every once in a while.
While walking through the woods it seemed as though things grew quiet; it was as though they were quickly approaching a place that called for absolute silence. A place that called for a moment of silence; it was a place of death. To the average person it would simply seem to be a place in which the trees grew unnaturally thick, the vines covered everything and the air slightly colder than that of the area around them. This was all that was different to the untrained. Vlad, however, was no ordinary mage. He was a mage who had come to learn the deepest and most private secrets of the soul. He was able to see the countless souls that lay here, unappeased. Simply waiting for a way to pass into the other world. These souls were forever abandoned; they would not be able to cross to the underworld, well. Not for a long time.
It was this that lead him to believe they were in the correct area; it was not likely that this many souls would accumulate if it was not a place that experienced death. Very often. Well, it was not something he would bother Mavis with; it was not something she had any control over, or could even help with. For these reasons it was better to keep this to himself. Perhaps all these jobs, all this time, all those he had slain were having an effect on him. Perhaps he was softening up. Was this bad? Not necessarily, did it seem odd to him? Yes.
It was at this point that Vlad would sense the movement of something large; it was something that reeked of death. It's very presence caused Vlad to question why he was acting as he was. It was odd, he had never felt something like this, or if he had it was a while back. Perhaps it was somewhat familiar. Well, either way, it was something that could not last. It was as this all occurred that the beast would make itself known. Yes, it was time to defeat the beast. It did not seem to be a very powerful beast, though it did act without any sort of fear. It was simply a beast that did as it felt it needed to; it lived on what it felt. It was as natural as it got. It was something that was very respectable, though disappointing. It had to die, it was their task. It was his task.
It was not something he was going to enjoy, but it was something that must be done, and so he would do it rather quickly. By simply whipping his arm forward chains would erupt from the ground, holding the beast in place. These chains were not all that would occur. "Well, I'll be sure to keep you alive." He chuckled, placing his hand on her ass. It was one way that he could protect her, though it seemed odd. It was with this that his aura would explode outward, simply killing all that had felt its wave. By holding her rather fine ass he was able to protect her. The beast let out a loud cry. It was dead. What a poor thing. Walking to the beast he would simply curb stomp the beasts face, knocking its tooth loose. It was their proof.

Re: To Slay a King (Private|Mavis)
Mavis was happy to hear he was proud, she felt her knees wanting to give out, as if just hearing he was proud was the only thing keeping her body pushing to succeed, but now that he was proud it seemed her body deemed it was okay to shut down and rest. Either way Mavis, mentally didn't deem it so she forced herself to keep up with him, trying to walk past him, she couldn't be a drag she had to keep up or else she would just be a nuisance to the both of them. Then if she was a nuisance it'd be useless for her to be on this mission, either way Mavis wasn't the one to give up, she wanted to keep fighting even if he didn't approve of it because she'd get harmed. Mavis just wanted to be useful, that was all she wanted, to be able to stand her ground and now she knew how to really stand it, you can't just talk and preach it you got to do it too, such as missions like this. As they got further into the forest, Mavis felt him grip her waist, she screamed in shock, not expecting the touch on a some-what low part of her body.
"WHOOOA! DON'T TOUCH ME!" Mavis screamed.
She quickly realized it was Vlad.
She sighed, "Oh... umm, you can let me down Vlad..." Mavis whispered defeated, feeling his tight grip on her.
Vlad told her to relax, and rest, she didn't like the sound of that she couldn't do anything from up here. Mavis sat on his shoulders' pouting. Now how could she prove herself to the man, he was holding her back from her potential, she was only trying to better herself. She wanted to be an important person to Blue Pegasus, sure everyone mattered especially when you're reviving the guild but honestly you mean jack shit until you do something major for the guild, and for Mavis that was proving she could carry the guild on her own shoulders. Either way, maybe she could help him fight when he least expected it.
Mavis could feel the air around them change, as they got closer to this destination the air got colder and crisper. However if you wanted to argue you could blame the shade from all the trees, but this wasn't that kind of cold and crisp air, it was the kind of coldness where you could feel yourself being watched by the eyes of others, alive or dead. Mavis quickly projected a flat-screen with information on the area.
"He's near, the king of beast. According to my information he has slain many who has tried to slay him. He's known to live around here, he's basically made a throne of bones from his slain enemies who have questioned his power. Interesting." Mavis read the information aloud, "It also states, legend has it people for years have tried to slain the King of Beasts, all because one local night a child had gone missing and they blamed the beast when they found bones of a child by his usual area."
She swallowed, closing her eyes. Wishing the spirits to find their eternal peace, it was sickening that this many beings had to die. Also it was sad this beast had to die. Mavis was ready to fight, getting ready to cast a spell as she could see the shadows of the beast. However Vlad was quick to act as he quickly lashed out at the monster with chains and then she felt her ass being gripped by Vlad. Then just as she was going to slap him aura erupted from him ending the beasts' life, Mavis would stop herself from ending Vlad's life for such a bold move, taking it he was only touching her to keep his own attack from harming her.
"Yea, thanks... but like... umm don't touch me so out of the blue." Mavis blushed.
The Pegasus woman's usual wings spread open bold personality now appeared to be a closed wings hiding her face kind of personality. Mavis didn't dislike the touch in fact she was disturbed she had liked such a bold touch, it was weird to her.
"Well... what now?" Mavis asked as the man picked up a tooth from the now fallen beast.
Mavis could feel the eyes vanishing from her, as if they had been pleased that their enemy had been killed, however the coldness from all the death still stained the ground beneath her. She sighed, what could you do, it happened and it was normal. Fighting and war it was apart of the world they lived in, and Mavis wasn't one to object the way the world worked, unless it was wrong. However sometimes you had to fight or wage war on someone or something. This just happened to be one of those scenarios, sadly.
"Hey wanna go get dinner?" Mavis asked, pointing to the sky decorated by bright stars.
What a beautiful starry night. She enjoyed nights like these, wasn't cold but wasn't drastically hot or warm. Just perfect.
"Or if you want, we could just sleep at the village, looking at the night sky..." Mavis blushed at the idea.
She probably shouldn't of even suggest such an idea to the perverted man. Sure at first Mavis saw it as he was just some horn-dog who wanted to quickly tap it, but he had actually been polite to her every encounter. He just had been flirty and touchy. Then again maybe he was like that with other women, you never knew. Mavis sighed, hopefully not. Did she actually care for some lowly pretty-boy, sure he had saved her life and possibly allowed her to live another day, but why did she like the man, she was very confused by her emotions.
However rest seemed to be calling her, she didn't know how much longer she could neglect her bodies natural want and need. She had to pay him back somehow for his help though, she just had too.

From how Mavis had reacted there was something he had been able to pick up very easily. She offered him two options:
1. Go out to dinner.
2. Sex.
As an incubus his urges would bring him to be more inclined to simply bend her over and simply take control of her body. Using it as he pleased, all in chase of the ecstasy that sex brings. While that is what his body wanted, what he was looking forward to he was unable to do so; he did have some form of morals in him. He was not going to simply take the easy option. It would mean nothing. Meaningless sex was not something that was only enjoyable in that one instant. Who cared for a one time thing? He was getting too old for that; how sad is that? An incubus thinking of what he should and should not be doing.
It was with this that he let out a slight chuckle and leaned in, their heads now at an equal level. Winking at the female and leaning into a kiss he would stay there for a moment. "Why not dinner? I'm not THAT easy a lay." He chuckled, picking her up once more. She was still too injured to walk on her own, and he was not going to allow her to simply walk on an injured leg. It wasn't the smart idea. Heading back toward the village Vlad moved at a leisurely pace. He had no real need to move quickly, it was not as though this job required him done by any sort of time; the chief simply asked for him to dispatch of the beast that plagued the town. He had done so, and was using this time to relax. "So, what did you want for dinner?" He asked. Vlad really never have much preference for what he ate. It had taken them a few minuted to return to the village, and through this time he simply allowed things to be as they were. No need to disturb anything. He would, however, continue to look up at her leg.
It was as they entered the village that the chief would quickly approach the male; he would drill them with all the average questions; what had happened, was she okay, where's the proof? It was after all of this that Vlad was finally able to collect his reward. It wasn't much, but every jewel counts. "So, where are we heading to babe?" He asked, patting her ass. It was not until she answered that he would begin to leave the town, heading to the destination.

Re: To Slay a King (Private|Mavis)
Mavis felt like everything was moving in a flash, the woman couldn't think straight as the Lioness' claw mark was still bleeding, how could she be so dumb to forget to cover the wound. Mavis would stare at Vlad, with a dazed look, it was clear to anyone the woman was in another world, one of unconsciousness. However she did manage to kiss her helper and walk into the village and collect her reward and praise and such. However her mind would drift to the past of her mother's last actions before becoming a full-fledged slave.
-Flashback-
A woman's feet pattered against the concrete beneath her feet, she had golden blonde hair, following to her thighs. She had a look of fear in her eyes, as she screamed and ran. Monuments of cold stone columns surrounded her, she had ran past all of the columns and moss covered concrete, into a huge forest. This forest consisted of monstrous sized trees. A vine that had been on the ground but scrunched upwards tripped this woman, she fell to her fate.
"Nice try, Liliana." A man in a suit approached the woman with slicked back black hair, lean and tall.
"Rankyu..." Liliana mumbled, gritting her teeth.
He had began to imprison the woman, using the vine she had tripped over as cuffs, tying her hands together behind her back. She squeaked in pain, she wasn't use to this kind of posture.
Rankyu spat on her. "Shut it!"
Liliana nodded in fear. The man that had captured her was her husband, Rankyu. Rankyu had changed over the years, Liliana, could no longer handle him and decided to escape him. However he tracked her down and was angry at her for running from him. He had many slave camps underground of Magnolia, which was where he was now taking his wife.
"Couldn't of just been a good girl, you had to go cause a delay in my plans!" Rankyu kicked her onto his magical air ship.
Liliana glared at the man with piercing eyes. "Rankyu, you're no longer my husband! My husband would not act so vulgar!"
Rankyu and Liliana had soon arrived at Magnolia, Rankyu's personal guards escorted them to his underground slave camp.
-End of Flashback-
Mavis, looked at Vlad with eyes full of pain.
"I'm so sorry to cut our reunion short-... grr..." Mavis took a deep breath, struggling to speak, "Pretty boy."
She still surprisingly had the energy to tease the man by a nickname she had attached to him since day one. Before the man could cut her off and swoop her up once again, she ran for the nearest train station. If he was to chase her she'd quickly slip into the door of a train back to Clover, heading back to her guild hall. To tend to her wounds that she had acquired. Maybe in another day in the near future she could repay his kindness, maybe even go all the way with him, if he'd like.

Re: To Slay a King (Private|Mavis)
Vlad had not much else to do, and as such, he would simply leave the village. A slowly meander through the village was all it took for him to realize the situation these people had found themselves in. Countless gravestones. Grieving mothers, fathers, families. This was the destruction that nature had brought upon its inhabitants. It was not forgiving, no. It wanted what was rightfully its own. This land; it wanted the land back. Was the creature in the wrong for doing what it's instincts told it? Was there much to debate about? It was a beast simply trying to survive in a rather cruel and uncaring world. This was what life brought about. Suffering.
This was the hallmark of life. Suffering, and pushing through the pain. What was the reward for such a long and hard fought life? What was the end goal of a persons life? Death. It was the eternal rest that a soul was in need of after having experience such a disastrous thing as life. Well, he could not blame anyone or anything for wanting to survive. It was basic nature. It was the deepest of instincts. To fight for survival. It was with these passing thoughts that he would simply exit the village, not really thinking of what was to come next. Life was something that brought about so many unexpected events, but death... death was simple. Concise. It had one goal and one job. that is all. It was with these fleeting thoughts that he began to simply walk through the woods, examining the wild life and what was once grand. Something that had once rules over all of the planet was now limited to what the human race allowed. It was not simply here, but everywhere. Well, that was life. And this was death; the death of nature. The rise of the undead. This was natures Vengeance.
