    Hi! Empty Hi!

Post by Suzuri 25th November 2016, 3:31 pm

    Hello, fellow roleplayers!

I'm a fan of reading, writing, sci-fi, fantasy, science, making plans of World Domination and, of course, Fairy Tail. Once again I find myself at that time of my life when I am looking for greener pastures to take my writing to, and have stumbled upon your lovely site. I particularly appreciated the bits of the rules which basically stated 'be nice to each other', due to experiences in the past.

Now, if it was just me, this would be all and I'd juuump straight ahead into creating my character, writing, and otherwise bothering you people. But! I seem to have picked up one of those 'awesome friend' thingies back on my last site, so I would like to pick a community that fits us both. Ideally, this would involve being able to have some sort of continuity with our story, in which we are invested in, while of course following the rules. So, if you don't mind, I would really appreciate answers to a few questions:

    1. Thread limit. Is it a hard or a soft rule? On one hand, I empathize with the idea of character development, because I really like writing stories, exploring my character's personality/actions etc. But. I'm a slow writer. While one might think that a slow writer would need even fewer threads than average, the truth is not that simple. If I write together with another slow writer (and potentially the best roleplaying partner I ever had was someone who wrote about 3 posts every 6 months due to IRL reasons), then the effective limit is 3. And then 2, 1, 0...I really don't like dropping threads just because people can't post fast. I'm a fan of continuity, and in the past have managed to easily achieve it with considerably more than 4 threads. So, to go back to my original question - hard or soft rule?

    2. Activity level. Now...is it possible to go around this rule? eg. would it be possible to have a thread in the Introductions/Farewells forum that stated an absence for several months, by which time I'd write another thread like that...(during which time, of course, I'll write). Not wanting to seem like a loophole-picker, but...four days (99 hours) is practically nothing for me. I may post once every two days, or I may post once every two weeks (I do warn my rp partners about my timing), and knowing that I 'have' to sign in every four days would be an additional stress...and...I don't deal well with stress. I'm sorry if I seem annoying, but this is important to me.

    3. Lineages. Now, I think I got this, but let me check. They're more like extra abilities and don't affect the type of magic that one can create for their character...or can they?

    4. VIP shop. I understand that a quality site might need funding; I would just like to ask whether, in your opinion, what is the difference for a character with/without using the VIP shop (okay? big? unsurmountable?)

5.Silly question, but would it be possible to have magic that expressed as someone being permanently turned into a gargoyle-sort-of-person? Continuity thing here. ^^

Again, sorry if I seem nitpicky and annoying. Just want to make sure that I am a good fit for this place (and if not, to settle it at the start rather than storming out dramatically later on =P ). Either way, it looks like a nice place!

Hey there Suzuri! Glad you decided to join the community. I'm no expert, but I think I can help answer your questions somewhat.

    1. Well...it kinda depends on the kind of thread itself. There's a particular thread limit involving jobs, or missions that you can find in the jobs sub-forum. Jobs will be your main source of XP and jewel, and initially, you're limited to three jobs per character. This can increase up to six jobs, provided that you gain yourself a Quality Badge that you can get via the Achievement system. This is your main guide on the available achievements. This is where you can request one. One QB is equal to +1 job slot. Three giving you +3 extra job slots. For plot threads or "socials", you aren't limited to a set number. You can have as much as you want, but yeah....kinda hard keeping track of socials.

    2. Um....are you talking about an activity rule or something? Well...there isn't actually a strict rule on how active you should be per se, but your activity sorta influences your jobs more or less. You can just write an inactivity notice on this same sub-forum, stating your reasons, and your RP partners will understand you. It's not mandatory to log in every 4 days or something. However, if you suddenly disappear without notice for a very long time, your job partner can move to replace you with someone else in their job. But don't worry, most people here are very patient still.

    3. Yes, lineages are extra bonus abilities. They don't really influence the magic you make, but there have been some people who work around their lineage as a form of inspiration for their magic. This is, however, entirely up to you. You don't need to make your magic completely based on the lineage you chose. (Which, btw, you get to roll three times when you first start.)

    4. Hmm...well, I'd like to say that there is a significant difference, but you don't need to donate to have fun. Being a VIP gives access to the God Slayer and Demon Slayer positions, as well as getting cosmetic effects such as a glow for your name, or a personal chatbox icon to go alongside your name. Buying VIPs also give you extra XP and jewels, but those you can always get by doing jobs and so. The only time that VIP would actually become needed, I think, is if you wish to hit H-rank, because you can't get it unless you buy the Regular VIP, which is the cheapest of them all.

    5. Magic in general can be anything you want here. The mods are there to help you balance it according to rules and make it reasonable. However, that doesn't mean you can go all out and make it crazy OP. Sometimes, things might not go the way you wanted, but things are graded to make it balanced for everyone.

And it's fine that you asked. ^^ A lot of people are willing to help new people here, at least. If you've any other concerns, don't be shy to drop by the chat box to ask the people there. You can also PM me if you'd like. Otherwise, welcome! I hope you'll have fun here if you decide to stay. : D

Thank you, Terith! That's very helpful!

Sorry, I misread the quitting rule for a no-activity rule. As in, in the 'you post a quitting thread and then drop off the 99 hour list and you will be reset', I didn't read the first part. Silly me! ^^'

Does the H-Rank rule also apply to Guild Masters/Aces? Or is getting the Regular VIP a prerequisite to that?

I agree about not making stuff OP. With the accent the rules seems to put on creativity, I'm sure we'll get along!

Oh! There's a chat box! I was sure there might've been one, but some sites banned them, so I wasn't sure. Might I ask for the directions, please? ^^ I'm a total clutz!

    You're welcome. : D

As for the H-rank thing, I'm assuming you're talking about the whole GM-Ace thing. Yes, apart from VIP, you can get H-rank by becoming an Ace of a guild and having your GM train you to it. But knowing how there's a limited number of Aces per guild, 3 being the minimum initially (unless they buy more Ace slots), and how only one of those Ace can be trained to H, I think it's easier to get it via VIP. But it's best to worry about H-rank later. It's a long way. xD

You should be able to see a large box below the site banner. That's the CB. It's called the Tavern. Feel free to just click Log In and you'll find yourself in. ^^

    ahoy there!

If you see people with pure white names like mine, we are mods..
Or pure black names (like, super dark as in you can't even see the name w/o highlighting, those are admin) Feel free to ask us any questions you have for the site.

Terith seemed to do a good job answering your questions, but I'll give you my take on them

I'm a fan of continuity, and in the past have managed to easily achieve it with considerably more than 4 threads. So, to go back to my original question - hard or soft rule?
The only thread limits there are is for how many jobs you're in. You can be in as many socials as you can handle. Don't worry too much about your posting speed, however, i would like to advise on committing to a job if you could only post a few posts every 6 months. But if you find someone patient enough, they'll stick with you

Naw, people come and go and take breaks all the time. If you say "i'll be gone for a while, I'll be back sometime" it's fine. However, if you quit the site saying "i'll never return" then you'll lose all your EXP, jewels, and everything you've earned, so be aware of that. But otherwise, as long as you don't say "I quit" you should be A-OK

    3. Lineages. Now, I think I got this, but let me check. They're more like extra abilities and don't affect the type of magic that one can create for their character...or can they?
    Correct, they are just extras

    4. VIP shop. I understand that a quality site might need funding; I would just like to ask whether, in your opinion, what is the difference for a character with/without using the VIP shop (okay? big? unsurmountable?)
A normal non-donator start off with 0 EXP and can unlock Dragon Slayer positions with a max of SS Rank. A donator of an actual rank can achieve H Rank and have access to God and Demon slayer. Otherwise, no real big difference

5.Silly question, but would it be possible to have magic that expressed as someone being permanently turned into a gargoyle-sort-of-person? Continuity thing here. ^^
You could always play a gargoyle if you'd like. However, with how the site rule is for magic, permanence isn't allowed, unfortunately.

Hope that answered all your questions and we hope you stay for a while :D
