Job Description:
"Hello newer members of Golden Phoenix! Here, we like to give you a chance to make some jewels quickly while you learn. So I am personally going to give you a quest that will advance your detection and fighting skills in a safe manner. Come back to me safely now, and any treasures you happen to find along the way are yours. Good luck!"
Enemies:
Weak: Money-Shaker: It's a random bag of money lying on the ground. It was induced with magic, allowing it to strike back onto opponents with it's body, just simply by hopping. While it does seem to constantly attack, there seems to be a drawstring holding in all the jewels that allow it's body to move. Wonder what happens if it were pulled.
Normal: Thief: A common thief with no experience in magic, and nothing separates them from another average thief. They come armed with a dagger, and a hood over their heads. Each one of these take 3 D rank hits to defeat. Each hit from the dagger inflicts D rank damage.
Strong: Great Thief: This one comes with two daggers and swings with them with grace. A lot more agile and often can lose the eye of the average mage. Keep a close eye on them, for if you lose them, they will make sure to end it quickly. Each one takes 5 D rank hits to defeat, and inflicts C rank damage per hit.
Boss: Treasure Hunter: A rival. They want your treasure, and they do not seem too keen on letting you have what they think is theirs. For that, expect this to end up in a battle. This hunter excels at using basic water magic. It takes 15 D rank hits to take down this enemy. Each strike inflicted by this enemy inflicts nasty B rank damage.
Reward: 2,000 Jewels.
Multiplier Seed (1x): Can only be used on D rank jobs. This seed allows the user to gain triple the jewels that a job offers at the cost of the exp, meaning the user will not get Exp for that job.
Alex's first job. This was going to be amazing. Well, it was Alex's second job, however this was his first job as a Golden Phoenix mage. And this was a job that, apparently, no other mages but those from Golden Phoenix could take. This was amazing! He had the chance to do something only a select few could do, meaning he was special. His guild was special, or at least he thought so.
As he drowsed away while on the boat going to Snowfall Island, Alex recapped with Dilon the Hawk about all that was going to happen, while in dreamland. He was to first, go search Snowfall Island for the tomb of an ancient ice mage, and then afterward, apparently go through that tomb and find some treasure. The thing was, the guild master didn't exactly explain what that treasure would be. But nonetheless, Alex put his trust in his guild master, and as such he went out. This was where he was now, on the outskirts of Snowfall Island, on a boat, slowly sleeping as he waited for-
BOOOOOOOOOOM
The crash suddenly jolted Alex up. Not enough to wake him up, but instead enough to knock him out of deep sleep. He went into his lighter sleeping mode, and shook his head, and got up. A crewman ran forward, and spoke very rushed towards Alex.
"Ms... I'm sorry, Mr. Alexander. We've reached the outskirts of Snowfall Island. The thing is, the water is frozen, so I'm afraid this is as far as we can go."
"Thank you, that'll be... all."
Alex hopped off the ship, and landed with the crack of the ice. He instantly began to freak out, and ran forward towards the shore. If there was one thing in the world he feared most, it was water... that, or being awoke. Either way, he ran forward, and just before he reached the shore, Alex slipped and fell flat on his face, and slid headfirst into a pile of snow. The freezing sensation overtook him, and he hopped up and yelled out loud. His face stung like crazy, and the wind was blowing harder than ever. Alex was lucky that he had his trusty coat on, else he might freeze to death.
Alex put up his hood, and walked forward, the footprints he left in the snow being quickly overtaken with more snow, as that was how much was falling. He had to quickly get this job done, as otherwise his coat wouldn't be enough. So he trekked forward, and forward, and forward, until suddenly the snow turned into ice, and he was above another waterway. But here was the thing: The tomb was underneath this frozen water.
"Just... My... Luck..."
However, a couple of voices could be heard off on the distance, and Alex slowly, and carefully walked forward to check it out. About a hundred meters forward, a group of people were digging deep through the snow, trying to get into the tomb underneath. Alex knew they must have been there for whatever treasure he was there for, and that made him think he was a little less special than he made himself think he was, as there were of course other treasure hunters out through the world. However, this was a blessing in disguise, as all he had to do was go over there when they finished digging and-
*Crack*
"No... please... NOOOOO-"
Alex was suddenly submerged in water, and freaking out at that. Not only was the water COLD AS ALL CRAZY HELL, his fear emerged. Not only that, he was forcefully awoken from the cold water. He suddenly began to freak out more, swimming as fast as he could towards the entrance to the tomb. Making it there in 30 seconds, he quickly dove through an opening, and swam upward. His entire body was cold, but he was alive. Grabbing onto a ledge, he pulled himself out of the water, and began to continue having his panic attack.
After about 25 minutes, Alex fell back asleep. His body was wet, his clothes were wet, he was freezing cold, but he was asleep. So, he shivered, but continue to walk. Looking around at the tomb, the mage began to think about how amazing this ice mage must have been. The entire tomb was made out of ice, snow, or slush. He or she must've been insanely powerful, enough to embody this entire island with snow. They would have made an excellent ally.
Suddenly, the sound of jingling money could be heard. Alexander's expression changed to that of confusion, until he turned around to get hit in the chest with a bag of gold. A bag... of gold... Surprisingly, it didn't hurt at all, and Alex was simply pushed back a little bit. Alex noticed a string on the bag of money, and gave another questionable expression.
"If I pull that... Would you die? Are the gold coins like... your insides? I'm a little confused- Hey!"
The bag pushed itself into Alex once again. He pulled the strings, and the gold spilled all over the ground. Alex looked at the gold, which wasn't sentient like the bag was. So, thinking the classic 'finders keepers' rule applied here, he retied the bag with all of the gold in it. It was no longer hopping, nor trying to fight Alex. However, just as Alex was about to walk off back into the tomb, a quick slash spilled the gold onto the floor once again. Alex looked confused, until he took a quick slash to the stomach, which caused him to double over, and turn to look at his assailant. It was a man - a group of them, actually. About 6 men that all carried daggers except one, who had his own magic aura, like Alex. The one without the daggers spoke aloud.
"I thought I heard a woman earlier, you were the one that was watching us off in the distance, weren't you? Oh well, you'd best walk away and leave the treasure hunting to the real men, alright?"
The man laughed, and then Alex stood up, his posture was now wobbly, as he entered his own dreamland. One that seemed happy, a land of rainbows, grasslands, nothing like the true scenery around him. With that, Alex put his hands to his head, and began channeling his magic, expelling a lot of it at one time. He first summoned his favorite spell, Senor Porkchop, the pig that got Alexander through many battles. He told the pig to charge forward, and, due to its massive size, it toppled over everyone of the men in front of Alex, whom were all baffled due to the fact that Alex challenged the numbers of them. However, Alex was a strategist. He knew he was outnumbered, but he also knew it was easy to overcome these odds, by simply increasing his own. Alex then summoned up Dilon, his spirit animal, which attacked one of the weaker theifs, which was the one who slashed Alex earlier. This beam of red light that Dilon conjured healed up the slash that Alex took, and then soon dissipated into gold light, like Porkchop. The men now recovered, and the leader of sorts commanded the three weakest mages to attack Alex, assuming him to not be able to handle three at one time.
If he really wanted to take me out easily, he'd make the strongest attack me... but whatever.
Alex put his hands to his head again, and soon a suit of armor covered his body, one that protected him from the basic slashes of the thieves. Having expended 30% of his mana now, Alex knew he had to save some up, as he knew he'd eventually have to fight their leader. Alex conjured up the panty robot, and then kicked the one man who attacked him earlier in the face, knocking him unconscious. The panty robot proceeded to blast each of the other two basic thieves in the chest, knocking the wind out of them, and then stomping on each of them, knocking them out as well.
Alex was only left with the last three to deal with, and his arsenal was running low. If he were to use any of his nightmare spells, he'd risk his own life and deal less damage due to the environment, so he needed to take out the commander. The commander would be the one that would cause the domino effect, and cause the other two to surrender.
Alex put his hands to his head one last time, and soon a pair of giant hands appeared behind him. Alex ran forward, and vanished before each of their eyes. He soon reappeared in front of the water mage, and punched forward, and one of the hands struck him and sent him flying. Capitalizing off of this, Alex fired the ball of energy from his suit of armor, which hit the water mage and launched him into a statue made of ice. The mage growled, and then caused the walls to shoot spikes of ice at Alex, whom was not protected by the armor anymore. Alex braced himself, until he realized that he still had his hands. Covering his body like a shield, the hands soon broke into light, as the man's spell was far too powerful for Alex to handle.
"Wait! Hold on!... Why are you here?"
"I'm looking for the body of an ancient ice mage. Apparently he had an amazing weapon for water and ice mages alike. You're here for that too, so I must protect my winnings."
"No! I'm not here for that at all! I'm here on behalf of Golden Phoenix, as a test to prove my treasure hunting skills. I'm here for the money, and apparently some seed that can duplicate jewels."
"Really? Sounds boring. I don't care about jewels. Whatever, you leave me alone and we'll leave you alone."
That was... Easy, to say the least.
To that, Alex nodded, and went forward, into another corridor. There, he saw a room with the Golden Phoenix emblem on it. Giving out a sigh of relief, he entered the room, and saw... a ton of jewels, to say the least. As well as a small, baseball-sized bag. Inside the bag, was a seed. Thinking this wasn't the time to use it, Alex began piling the jewels into bags that were, conviniently, left inside this room, and then began the frequent back-and-forth transition between the hole that the previous thieves drilled, and the ship. Eventually, it was done. Alex's first job as a Golden Phoenix mage was done!
