- Job Title: A Wizard's Grace
Rank: D-Ranked Wizard (Solo Only)
Player Requirements: Thread must be 20 posts long. 200 Words per post. May only be completed ONCE by the character attempting the Job.
Job Requirements: Must defeat at least 5 groups of Plant Demons! Without using magic that can damage the crops and farms of Beanstalk Village! If the Boss is rolled; the curse on the crops will disappear; but you now have to face off against the Dark Wizard who cursed them in the first place!
Job Location: Beanstalk Village
Job Description: Beanstalk Village; nestled in the most northern forests of Fiore alongside the Clover River. This village is responsible for a good bit of Fiore's farm and produce production alongside River Village, and Peace Village. Everything from vegetables, too beef, too steak, too pork can come from here.
However; all crops in the village; have whithered and grown thorns. Quite strange no? They also glow with a strange light; as if some kind of bad magics are at work; holding the crops into this foul state.
There aren't any wizards in the village; so they're completely baffled how entire crop fields of wheat, corn, and tomatoes could just sprout black thorns, wither, and glow. It's very, very, VERY; strange to them.
However; when you arrive; the cursed plants react to your magic power; revealing to the villagers the source of the problem. Plant Demons; feeding off of their crops.
The Plant Demons appear; popping up in waves. They look quite cute; each Plant Demon either has a head and body made up of whatever vegetable it is; with thin white legs and arms; and glowing red eyes with a mouth that they love to use to eat real crops; and too trash talk.
They will pop out of the ground randomly when they sense Magic Power for the first time in Beanstalk Village; and attack. The curse will wear off when you dispose of the Plant Demons.
Enemies:
Weak: Tomato Plant Demon x10 (D-Ranked, these Demons are real trash talkers; nothing is off limits to them. With a body like a giant tomato. Despite their tough talk; they're very weak and go down in just two hits of D-Ranked damage each; they will try to belly flop and body slam their opponents; their special technique is 'Tomato Juice Cannon'; which blasts their opponent with a stream of ketchup from their mouth; careful it packs a punch and deals D-Ranked damage and knockback that will lift you off your feet if hit.)
Normal: Corn Plant Demon x5 (D-Ranked, these Demons have a body like a giant corn cob. They don't talk tough; but think themselves very stylish. They will attempt to body flop, and body ram opponents much like the Tomato Plant Demons. Their special technique is 'Corn Corn Cannon' in which they exhale a stream of Corn, flying at bullet speed. They hurt like hell; equivalent to almost having baseballs thrown at you. Enough of them will K.O even tough wizards. This deals C-Ranked damage if hit. The Corn Plant Demons go down in 3 hits of D-Ranked damage each.)
Strong: Broccolli Plant Demon x10 (C-Ranked, these demons have a body like broccolli with glowing red eyes. They are very fast; and will charge opponents quickly with shoulder rams, and punches. Their special technique is 'Broccolli Swat'; in which they cock their body back like a gigantic fly swatter, and slam their Broccolli heads down on their opponent in a gigantic smash. This deals C-Ranked damage, and can K.O quite easily. If caught off guard you will be slow to move around and be sore for the next post. The Broccolli Plant Demons go down in 5 hits of D-Ranked damage each.)
Boss: Dark Wizard (The one who put the curse on the entire Farmlands of Beanstalk Village; this guy is not to be trifled with. He is an middle aged man with an extremely impressive beard; wearing dark robes. He uses Curse Magic. Once per turn; he will try to make one of your limbs like jelly, as well as cause you to see and hear things that aren't there. His Curse spells can do everything from make you blind, make you not able to hear, paralyze one limb, make you not be able to speak, and the ability to make your own spells backfire on you. If you roll a 'Failed Block'; you will be Cursed with one of these effects, takes 15 hits of D-Ranked damage to bring this guy down.)
Reward: 10,000 Jewels + 2 Extra D ranks exp(added after any bonus calculation)

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
The sun was nearly setting as Zoey saw beanstalk village in the distance. She took a request to remove a curse some days ago at Magnolia. Apparently crops didn't yield anything. It wasn't just a bad year, it was a complete disaster. At this rate the entire village was in danger as they wouldn't have enough food to eat, leave alone make a living from it. The village looked rather simple and a little outlandish. Maybe it had something to do with them not being that far from the border and far away from any real city.
Once she entered in she first wanted to go find a place to sleep. Doing so shouldn't be that hard if she told the villagers she was here to help them. At least she hoped it was. However that was just about the problem. Everyone seemed to be already inside once she started to look around town. Not a soul was to be found in the town which really was strange. Zoey started to wonder if something happened here. Only one way to find out. She went towards the door of one of the strange tents. One of the largest she could find, maybe she could be filled in on what is going on and why everyone was already inside despite the sun only just being set and nowhere the time for an entire village to get all quiet like this. Or maybe she just gotten so used to the busy streets of Magnolia, even at night. At least compared to this.

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
As if if she summoned herself, tomatoes that were growing in the garden here came to life. A surprising turn of events. They didn't look like they were doing well in the first state, but from what she heard they only were supposed to go bad. They certainly shouldn't be moving on their own... Unless someone or something was using magic on them. Of course why someone would do so would be a part of her job, after she has dealt with these ones. For the rest she should be careful when approaching any more plants in town, other than the one created by her own magic.
She set herself up to start fighting off those aggressive plants which kinda just rushed at her. This would be her first big fight by herself. It was kinda scary though not having anyone else to rely on. Better adopt fast to it.
Zoey fired her razor leaf quickly at the tomatoes effectively cutting through most of the small groep of living tomatoes. She aimed her attack to damage her surroundings as little as possible, though some collateral damage might still be made. It was a fight of life and death after all. And she wasn't about to lose it.

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
As the monstrous plants neared the young girl, Zoey got ready and raised her shield in advance. After the tomato plants crawled close enough she bashed the remaining ones with her shield. It was... much easier than she thought. Those battles against those demons earlier really payed off. After she had defeated the plants the door opened and a man stepped outside.
"Oh, sorry about that... But... They attacked me." Zoey apologized for her brutally turning those tomatoes into tomato juice, even if it was a bad and stinking one. Luckily the elder man didn't really care all to much.
"It doesn't matter, they were bad anyway. I can tell that something happened though. They shouldn't be here. But in the Garden a bit away." That at least explained why he didn't start shouting angrily at the stranger that turned up in his doorstep(or equivalent in this strange village) when things already seemed to look rather bad. He invited her inside to talk things over with the village.
"So a few weeks ago there were a lot of vegetable and fruit plants that all went bad of a sudden, way before they actually should? " Zoey asked the man after he had explained the current situation.
"Yes, Please find the source of this and stop this. If you can't, the town will die out!" He said. Things seemed to be really bad here. If it was that bad something had to be going on, not to mention their strange behavior earlier.

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
"Any leads on what actually happened here?" She asked. Of course they had told her the story, but they didn't told her anyhow or if they had any clues other than the ruined and aggressive plants.
"No, nothing. After the plants started to go bad nothing else happened." He said. Of course they probably were too busy trying to survive while all the harvest went bad. One thing was sure: If this went on the village wouldn't have enough food for the winter and nobody knew what happened after that, but it couldn't be very good.
"Eh, it must have been a far journey. My wife will escort you to an empty tent so you can rest." He said as he beckoned to his wife who had been sitting there the entire moment silently. After she stood up Zoey followed the woman to an empty tent.
The woman was surprisingly silent for some reason. She didn't spoke a word and Zoey didn't really felt like talking to someone right now. She could only think about sleeping. That wish however was swiftly crushed as she saw more cursed plants approaching in the distance. There was were multiple tomato plants that came to attack her again, and also that seemed to be... corn? The more she moved around the village the more she felt something was wrong here.
"Stand back. I'll deal with them!" Zoey said as she went forward. After all she didn't want to endanger any of the townsfolk with her fighting. Let's just hope there weren't any more trying to attack the woman, but for now that were worries for after these were defeated. Zoey wasn't all that confident facing that many enemies at once, but she had to try it for the village.

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
Zoey fired another leaf at the enemies coming closer. A magic circle appeared out of her stretched hand in a green color with numerous runes on before the spell fired off itself. Definitely beating a large amount of them, but those that weren't downed by it or those she completely missed kept going forward. There had to be a faster way to defeat those mutated crops or whatever they were. Actually some of them began firing stuff at Zoey instead of just trying to attack her in melee. The remaining tomato plants fired a red liquid at Zoey.
While the red liquid hurt... somehow it didn't really hurt all that much. The stream however was quite hard and Zoey was flung into the air backwards. She managed to roll back a few meters behind where she first stood, also making more distance using the plant's attack. Didn't mean the others stopped their advance. As Zoey made some vines to crush the tomatoes the corn plant demons didn't let up their assault.
Zoey simply called her shield up again to fight all the remaining corn plants. They smelled badly and their attacks hurt a lot. She even got bit once. However after a good well aimed blows the corn plant demons were no more.

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
"Oh thank you. What was that?" The woman asked after the plants were defeated and she returned to Zoey. A good question, though if Zoey knew the answer she would seek out the true source instead of fighting random disgusting plants.
"I have no idea. But we should move on." Zoey answered unusually quickly. The last thing she wanted was to have more of these things running around. That and her magic power was growing low, so she kinda wanted to have a rest. Especially after that long and tiresome journey. They traveled a short place and eventually arrived to a small but cozy tent at the edge of town. The woman opened the flap of the tent before letting Zoey in, after which she followed the younger girl inside.
"There is a bed. Since this is a guest room, there isn't much else here." She said. There really wasn't much else in there. She guessed the bathroom must be a global tent in this village. She hoped it was at least split between genders, but with small unknown villages you never knew.
"Is there any toilet I could use, if I needed one?" She asked reluctantly.
"Sure, there are a few around the village. That'd be all? " She said as she stepped outside and pointed to a tent a little further inside town. After which Zoey Nodded as everything was clear for her now. Well for the night, not for the request. But right now there was little she could do about that. So with that she prepared for the night and lay down inside the small bed. Despite the possible thread of more plant attacks she slept rather fast once she got inside the bed. Despite it looked it was rather comfortable. No super-deluxe service, but much better than it looked like at first glance.

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
Even though the night was short Zoey slept rather well. It didn't took her long after lying down to fall asleep last night. Though she woke once when she thought she heard something or someone. Might have just been a drunken villager, but somehow she doubted it. She was more thinking around the lines of one of those magical plants. Yet in the end nothing happened and in a few minutes she was back to dreamland.
When she woke in the morning she quickly got dressed again and since there wasn't anything else to do she quickly went for a walk so she could wash herself. The afore mentioned bathtent might have a bath, a shower or at least a basin to wash herself.
Turns out the bathing tent at least had a basin. Since no one else was here Zoey washed herself quickly before looking for a place to eat. After that she should probably go find out what the cause was of this village's misfortune. She was happy that she at least could sleep and wash herself unharmed. Imagine that she would have been followed through the entire night inside this village. Her mind wavered of to last night again, she couldn't shake of that one of those plants visited her. It's most likely was going to see if she was a problem. That or maybe it couldn't enter the tent itself. In any case she putted on her clothes again as she was finished with washing herself. She then returned to her tent. Once she arrived there a small troy with simple food was delivered inside. Zoey simply started eating. The food was rather bland and not plenty, but with the food shortage that was to be expected.
After a meager breakfast Zoey started to gather more clues on the problems this village was heaving she decided to return to the place where she fought with the plants yesterday. The strange thing was that there were no remains of the downed plants. Either they cleaned it already, or someone purposely reclaimed them either to reuse them or destroy evidence. Her wounds from yesterday hadn't healed yet, but luckily they weren't that bad.

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
As she arrived there she noticed that was being followed, Maybe it was this man that tried to sneak up on her last night. Even so she shouldn't just run just yet. it could be a coincidence. So she first took a turn earlier then yesterday. She noticed the man behind her did the same. After which she turned left so she would be back on route. Or course the man followed suit, she juist decided to go back to the place last night and see what happened if she went there.
As she arrived the man was still following her. Yet when she started to look around he didn't seem to stop moving and instead moved closer to her. Of course, he realized Zoey had seen him before. There was a moment of silence once he neared. Zoey realized what had to be done so she shot a piece of leaf towards the man who in turn tried to cast a spell on her, she couldn't really see well what kind of spell it was. It just was a dark circle that appeared in front of his hand just as a green one appeared in front of Zoey's when she cast her own spell.

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
As soon as the black circle disappeared Zoey almost fell on the ground. She felt her left leg nearly falling on the ground and when finished firing her own spell. while that seemed to have hit is mark, she could swear the man was bleeding a little on his leg. Even so it didn't seem to bother him that much. Even if it did hurt he didn't let on much. Meanwhile Zoey tried to run away. It would be difficult to fight with a leg like that. She had no idea how long it would take to turn to normal either, if it even would.
Sadly not only would it be more difficult to fight like this it also was harder to run away. It didn't take very long for the man to reach her as Zoey did her best to hop away on her right leg. Immediately she felt someone in her bag pushing her on the ground. Since the ground was dirt and not stone this didn't hurt that much. Still this was not a good nor comfortable position to be in. She could feel the heavier man on top of her. While she tried to struggle herself free didn't really work out very well. With one hand on her head pushing it in the mud wasn't exactly fun either.
"Little miss mage. Got you." He said as another black circle appeared in his free hand. Whatever happened she realized it wouldn't be very good if that circle managed to hit her.

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
Just when the circle was nearly complete Zoey unleashed a strong kick which it the man in the middle of his legs. Thorns also grew out of Zoey's entire body which pierced in the man skin a little. normally this wouldn't hurt that much, but he was sitting on Zoey, so he would receive many little stings that only hurt a little but hurt very much more than the actual wound was. So he got up rather quickly once he start feeling those. Hereby he also had to drop the current casting of his spell, which gave Zoey a chance to strike back at the older man.
"Shield of Thorns" She shouted as hard as she could as she started to beat up the larger man with it. Mhhhmmmm gurl she wasn't the hardest hitting mage around, but she certainly could pack a punch once that shield was up. It also helpt with dealing with incoming attacks so it was fit for melee combat. A few punches on both sides later they found themselves standing eye in eye with each other a bit more out of arms reach.
"Say, little girl. Finely warmed up?" He said with confidence. it was clearly he was merely toying with her up till now. Even so Zoey couldn't just leave it at this. So many questions about this one were floating around in her little head, but one in particular shone above the others.
"Mr... why do you do all of this? "She asked him. He didn't seem to like to answer though. Still if he wasn't going to talk there wasn't much she could do.
"Enough Talk." He said as he raised his hand and another black circle appeared in them. She was getting tired of those already, especially as it was a pain to move with this leg now. It seemed there was only one option. Fight him and beat the answers out of him, sadly. Why did things like these always ended with fighting?

"Shield of Thorns" She shouted as hard as she could as she started to beat up the larger man with it. Mhhhmmmm gurl she wasn't the hardest hitting mage around, but she certainly could pack a punch once that shield was up. It also helpt with dealing with incoming attacks so it was fit for melee combat. A few punches on both sides later they found themselves standing eye in eye with each other a bit more out of arms reach.

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
This time, after the circle disappeared Zoey found it difficult to see her opponent. In fact it became very difficult to see at all for her. This was starting to become more than just a bit troublesome. Not very long after Zoey's lights went out. She started to panic, there was nothing to see and one leg did not do anything she wanted it to. It certainly wasn't looking good for the young mage, but that didn't mean she gave up. She heard someone rushing closer to her which caused her to try to retaliate with her shield with thorns but it was futile trying to and she was pushed on the ground again. This time he just stayed trying to kick her instead of trying to grab her or whatever he was trying to do to her earlier.
It could certainly have gone worse though. After the first kick she managed to place her shield in front of his feed, causing him to to be hurt. She could hear the guy scream after the thorns pierced in his feet through his shoes. She then jumped at him and used to sound to discern where to strike. She managed to get a few more hits in before she heard another magic circle opening. She tried to hit the other mage again, but by the time she tried to reel in another hit he had already fled away. She tried to rush after him before he could complete the spell. She wondered what this one was going to do, but would rather not find out. His magic was certainly starting to work on her nerves and on her body. Seriously she couldn't see herself but she felt herself bleeding in multiple spots and varying degrees of harshness. Anyway it hurt a lot.

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
So while trying to deal with not being able to see she also had to deal with a man trying to take her down and who know what he would do to her once he did. She didn't really want to think about it, but that cursed left leg wouldn't help her much. As a result she spend much of the fight lying on the ground. Luckily she was standing again, but she still couldn't see a damn nor was that leg feeling any better at all.
Still she could hear him create his magic circle and with a well concentrated vine she pulled his arm down before he could create the circle. It was difficult, but she succeeded in visualizing vines pulling the man's arm down. With the man partially restrained she rushed forward for a final blow to the man's face before the shield disappeared. She could feel her leg turning back to normal as well as her field of vision restoring to how it was before she was hit with that awful curse. Still Zoey was glad everything was alright in the end. Yet, her job wasn't over yet. Even if this person was the culprit with the spoiled greens and even if beating him solved it there was no guarantee he wouldn't simply do it again. First things first though she had to make sure he wouldn't escape. She knocked on one of the tent poles of the village elder's tent.
"I eh... think I found the culprit." She said after the man came outside. She couldn't be sure of course. It could have been someone else, but it was rather strange that no plants seemed to intervene with their duel. If he wasn't the culprit then why didn't any of the plants come over to the duel. If he was the culprit then why didn't any of those plants try to help him? It was so strange, but she didn't really care much about it now. Right now she wanted to tie him up and treat her wounds.
"Alright... We'll get a rope" He said after he disappeared into his tent. After a few minutes of waiting the old man came outside with a rather big rope. He clearly wasn't about to let this one go to chance. It probably wouldn't be easy to cut this rope.

Re: Plants vs plants [Job/solo]
So that was that. After Zoey and the old man finished tying the mysterious mage up they showed Zoey the way to the local doctor. While he didn't look in the slightest like a doctor in any of the main cities it certainly felt like he was the only one in the village actually capable of treating anything. Like most doctors he had a large amount of bottles and a varying amount of tools lying neatly sorted around the room. A young woman just left before Zoey came in. it seemed he got a lot more patients while the curse was on the village. Well it would be great to have her wounds tended after that fight. Even if most were rather large bruises they still hurt a lot.
"Come on in." The young man said. Zoey complied immediately.
"Welcome in... Wait, what have you done? Where did you get those wounds?" He suddenly asked. Well most of her bruises were hidden by her clothes, but some of them were still very visible as well as the red spots of blood on some of the worse spots that went straight through her clothes. His rather puzzled look began to shine through his professional attitude.
"Well... I fought with the man who caused the curse of this village... Or at least I think I did." Zoey answered rather uncertainly. Of course there was no guaranty that that would even remove the curse permanently. Even if it did, that still didn't mean another friend of the man couldn't come back to finish the job. But at least there townsfolk should have a small break at the least.
"Well then, let's have a look." He said as he gestured her to take place on what looked like a rather well crafted wooden chair. It did have some rather soft cushions attached to it though. Zoey removed her clothes so the doctor could get a view of the wounds beneath.
It didn't really take very long since the wounds looked much worse than they actually were. Just some rests and it should be alright. A few plasters on the worse places for a few days was all she needed to fully recover from this fight. Once she was out she noticed the plants around the village to already look more lively. It felt really great for Zoey to see that she helped so many life forms in and around the village. Still there was one more thing they had to do.
She arrived in the tent. it seemed her assailant already came to his senses. Zoey Gave the elder a questioning look who shook his head in return.
"No luck yet? She asked to confirm.
"He hasn't spoken a word since he came up." The elder said. If he kept this up who knew what they would eventually do to him. It didn't help that they didn't really knew why the man cursed the village in first place.
"Would you... please tell use why you cursed the village in the first place?" Zoey asked the man nicely. Who finally seemed to give up. Maybe the meaning didn't mean so much to him in the first place. Maybe he realized he had already lost? Well he finally started talking.
"Alright I'll confess. It's... My daughter. She died two years ago. We were farmers nearby who worked hard, but one winter we didn't have enough. I was physically though, but my little girl didn't make it. I begged others for some food for her but they wouldn't give us a thing." He was tearing up at this point. It certainly hurt to tell all of this after all he had done.
"Alright... Thanks for telling us. I am sorry for your loss." She said. It probably wasn't much but it was the least she could tell. She could ask many things right now, but they either didn't matter or would be mean to ask right now. Later, the rune knights would probably come to pick him up. That is unless they manage to get out of this disagreement together. Even then that was their problem. Zoey's job was catching the criminal, which was done. So she received her reward and went left for home not long after.
