Comments, Concerns, Etc.: Okay so this first round is intros. The next round will be introducing the two NPCs On the 3rd or fourth round, we'll start rolling.

A ton of things happened in the past month without relenting. The Rune Knights, whom were run by the Magic Council, were found to be guilty of corruption in the higher ranks of the order. Fiore's King ordered a Purge on the organization and the ones who were to carry that out were known as the Garou Knights. Hero himself was requested an audience with by an officer from that organization. Though the giant answered the call, he did not accept the invitation to join their ranks. The reason for that? Yamamoto felt that an organization led by royalty was ultimately doomed to corruption eventually and he did not want to commit to a faction that was not going to hold true to their ideals. Hero wanted something more than that, though he did not know or understand what it was he wanted. He did know though that he wanted the strength to genuinely protect those that are, or would be, close to him. That was the main thing spurring him forward currently.

After that whole thing happened, he continued to get mail from their organization regarding the Rune Knights and such though there was nothing substantial yet that drew the giant's attention. Meanwhile, his cousin Elyx had the man go on a little trip for him into this active volcano for a treasure chest. Yeah. Sounds fun, doesn't it? Hero was in there for about an hour and a half before he finally found it, though it was not that simple. It was slightly confusing as well, considering what happened. At first, there was Elyx who wanted to challenge him to get the chest by getting through him first. That was fine and all, but then another Elyx appeared. Yes, there were two of them but then it went downhill from there. The Elyx who had arrived second knocked the other Elyx on the head and then that Elyx poofed into a woman. The woman was explained to be the real Elyx's girlfriend and that she liked playing pranks on unsuspecting people. The man had already figured that something was off about the first Elyx but he never would have thought it was a shape-shifting tanuki woman. After all that nonsense, his cousin explained the reasons behind why he wanted Yamamoto to take this little game of a request and it made at least some sense, though it would have been easier to just ask. The giant had no legitimate reason to deny the offer from his cousin so he accepted and thus joined the legal guild, Golden Phoenix. Hero also obtained an empty bottle from the chest; Elyx said that a good friend of his wanted to know what lava tasted like and wanted the giant to fill the bottle with some lava and take it to the friend. There was a problem with that though: he had no idea where to find that person. His only clue was that she worked as the guild's bartender when she was not out on jobs.

The bottle of lava was still in his house out of sight and it was likely going to stay that way until he knew exactly where to find that friend. If this person was a friend of Elyx, chances were high that they were also very strong though that of course was only conjecture. After that day, it was actually pretty quiet. Since there was no guild hall yet according to Elyx, there was no way for the man to know where that friend lived or worked, which meant he had to either wait for his cousin to give him another hint or try and search for them by going on some pilgrimage to every city and town in Fiore. He was NOT going to do the latter for the sake of one person whom he had never met before. Unfortunately, Hero was not kind enough to do something like that without some more legitimate reason than "they want to know what lava tastes like". There was one thing however that he deduced from that. The friend must have been a Slayer of some type and he also figured that they had to be a Fire Slayer. However, there were three known types of Slayers that they could have been; they were distinctly different in the way the types obtained their power. It was simply a matter that the man was not willing to handle just yet.

Just the day after that, his cousin threw him under the bus metaphorically speaking. Granted he ended up not being alone for the entire ordeal but it was pretty intense. I mean... it was not every day one got to take on a horde of ravenous, bloodthirsty werewolves on a Perfect Moon with three other people until the sun came up. That was a really intense night, though he and the others managed to get through the night with non-lethal injuries, save for himself whom was covered in bruises from the smacks he took by that behemoth of a beast in the village. It would have been a lot worse, had the alpha not been assaulted by a mob of its own kin during the battle. When the sun finally came up, all of the turned villagers returned to normal and the group of four people were thanked by the village elders who knew it was going to happen from the start. All in all, it turned out to be another invaluable experience for the giant.

Then the day after that, which was also pretty fun, he and a fellow guild mate named Luna Jaeger went treasure hunting out in the Ancient Ruins. It did not take us too long to get to the bottom of the whole ideal and found this guy Harper Goldenshine to be extremely troublesome. He was also searching for this treasure and was found to be wanting the treasure for darker intentions, which Hero could not allow. He and the woman found the treasure and then left with Harper in tow to inform local authorities on the matter; later that day, Yamamoto was informed that the Magic Council was thankful for their efforts in protecting the sanctity of the deceased Wizard Saint's tomb. It was a good feeling to do good deeds for the sake of tomb preservation. A thought also crossed his mind while at the ruins. Why were those ruins such a hotspot for all these different occurrences? It was at the very least strange and the giant was very interested in finding out what it was all about.

Then there was the matter of the friend of Elyx's he was supposed to find on his own. He did end up eventually finding her on an island off the coast of the mainland, Crescent Island the resort, and goodness she was a beauty. It was at first strange to watch her drink down that bottle of lava like it was some kind of alcohol. Though the thought was a little funny and ironic because the friend was a bartender. Turns out the friend was also a woman, in case one had not noticed. Long blonde hair and the kind of body that just about anyone would fall to their knees for. The more important thing was getting that lava to her though so that was a success at the very least. Her name was Venir RuLush and she was an S-class wizard part of the same guild as he, Golden Phoenix. Hero himself was on vacation yesterday, so most of the time was simply spent at the resort talking with the woman. Though if that were all that happened, he would have been lying. That day turned into a run-in with an extremely large Dark Guild known as the Syndicate, which was run by these people called "executives" whom were the top ranking members of the guild. It was a hard-fought battle, since it was ten against three. Another member of Golden Phoenix, Leila Vergious, had joined both Hero and Venir on the task and they all managed to pull through it without fatal injuries, save for Hero, whom got cut up pretty bad by the boss of the guild, Doflamingo.

Then there was that little adventure in Kyoka, where he teamed up with an old colleague from the Rune Knights, Isaac. Despite the fact that Hero did most of the fighting, it was a very strange day. The two men were led around by this dim wisp-like orb through dense fog to fight a bunch of creatures who were native to the land. The giant spoke with a talking wolf, which was also strange on its own, and then after over one hundred creatures later they came to a large castle where they met the “Forgemaster” and got sent back to the mainland because they did not have all the items the blacksmith needed, though he did take the two items they did retrieve and thanked them. A little adventure born of a whim and curiosity due to a dream ended up being mostly fruitless aside from getting some target practice.

After that, not much happened over the next few days. The giant traveled to his home village in the mountains with a woman by the name of Leila Vergious, which went well despite the mob of bandits and that storm they had to fight against. That same day, when they returned from said journey, Hero received an “official business” letter from his cousin Elyx. The letter stated that he was eligible to become an Ace of Golden Phoenix. It was a rather high honor for someone who only just recently found cause for attaining different kinds of strength, even though the road was a lot more bumpy than he made it sound. Of course he responded immediately and had it sent off the same day he received it; to his surprise, Elyx accepted what the man wrote and thus Yamamoto became the Ace of Diamonds.

Along with that return letter from Elyx came another letter, from a high-ranking restaurant owner who resided in Meshi. Meshi was a land based entirely around food, from the land itself, to the animals that lived there, to the jobs people had. The letter said that they had heard a lot of good things about him from the Magic Council and wanted his assistance on a matter regarding a… cheese wheel. What ensued was a night alone with a young woman by the name of Audrey Ackerman whom was flirting intensely with him the entire time. Despite it being slightly uncomfortable, they also had to deal with some angry protesters. For the most part however, the task went over well and Hero got to have a taste of the cheese he protected which strangely enough gave him a big boost. The flavors mixed in with the rest of the meal awakened a whole new part of the giant's mind and allowed him to surpass his previous limits.

Early this morning, a letter from the Magic Council arrived from a wizard courier. The letter spoke of several cases where people had gone missing and it wasn't just a handful. Thousands of people... Hero was not about to let this continue any longer but he was not going to do it alone. The first person that came to mind was Leila since he had just recently gone traveling with her; the giant gave her a call and told her that he would tell her more once they met up. The place of meeting was in Motor City, near the primary entrance. With the talking done for the time being, he hung up and began a mad dash out of his home and toward the mechanized city.

A call from someone she had met not that long ago. Hero, apparently the two of them would be working together again. It actually seemed kinda odd for someone like him to be calling other people like this, but then again, you should never judge a book by it's cover. This man, he certainly didn't seem like a whole lot on the outside, but there was plenty of things inside that the girl didn't know about at all. And since she had nothing better to do anyway, she saw no real reason for refusing this request. Their last job went through pretty smoothly with the exception of few destroyed homes by a storm and mansion that probably needed a fresh coat of paint after they left. Something like that could surely be still called a success to some extend, right? Well, the girl actually wasted little time after she received the said call. Donning her usual outfit that was tailed exactly for her and the magic she possessed, she said her goodbyes to the other two residents of the hotel room she was staying in. Ori was was running around and stretching and of course Yuki who was sitting on a bed and reading a book. They probably didn't need to get involved in this one, as a due of two Aces from a guild like Golden Phoenix would surely be enough to solve any problems that they could be facing on this little new journey. Last time, they didn't really get too much room to demonstrate their true battle potential. Or at least Hero didn't, as Leila showed quit a number of her spells while her partner didn't exactly do much more than few punches that managed to wipe out most of the bandit forces they were facing. That man really was scary in a way...

"Eh, whatever. I'm sure everything will be just fine... I'm leaving you two! Try to not destroy the room while I'm gone~"

Saying her playful goodbye, she left through the door and closed behind herself. Of course she wasn't actually worried that any destruction at all would happen, since both of her companions were rather docile most of the time. It was at least one perk of having someone who barely talks as your roommate. And even though Leila felt safer with Yuki by her side, she just decided to keep on walking forward and not going back there, picking her up. She was slowly approaching a level of power where she alone should be able to take care of many different tasks, so she should not rely on having company all the time. She had to learn how to work alone again... because of Jiyu and few other individuals, she had completely forgotten how to do so. And it was needed for her to be reminded sooner rather than later, especially with the plans she had for the future. It was a shame, poor Leila got rather sad as soon as she started thinking about those plans, but it was necessary. Life was always unfair and people had to learn how to move on when they were denied something they loved most. She had to as well. Shaking her head, she tired to not think about it too much as she approach the stable and rented a horse that would carry her towards the motor city much faster than her own two feet. Still probably slower that moving by using her own magic, but she didn't want to start wasting magical energy already before the job even started. And her target was that mechanized city, she could only imagine what would be waiting for her out there and what would they have to eventually fight...

Titan Pallas. That was one of few nicknames Hero was given in recent days by the people, most likely due to his sheer size. Despite being beyond his growing ages, the man actually still had more growing to do. Even he could tell that people were getting much shorter. Each of the giant's footsteps shook the ground and caused car alarms to go off if they were parked on the street. It took Yamamoto far less time to reach the outskirts of the city, though he did not stop to think about anything else. Getting to Motor City was the only thing on his mind right now, aside from a couple of random thoughts. One of those things was... this was the first time he was going to that mechanized town. Sure he heard plenty of things about it and had seen it from afar while he traveled from place to place but he never had a need to go there until today. The man also wondered if Leila was going to be there before he did. Hero was a very unconventional person after all and normally only moved from place to place on foot. Regardless, he hurried on as quickly as his legs could manage.

Hero was in such a rush that he left his cloak behind at the house, so his upper body was exposed to the lukewarm air. Around his neck was a finely-made necklace, along with a pair of simple earrings, he recently received in the mail. The package had no name stamped on it and the card it came with only said "Surpass yourself and come find me." He did not understand the meaning behind that, but whoever it was must have known him from somewhere which made him somewhat cautious. In the end, it did not matter currently. The city was starting to come into view, and with it the smell of coal and melted metal reached his nose. Even though it was slightly unpleasant, Hero did not really mind. After all it was only a smell he was not familiar with yet. Some more time passed as the giant seemingly flew through the air toward the city which became larger and larger as he drew closer. Eventually he arrived at the front gate and thus waited for Leila to arrive. Once she got here, it was going to be time to explain what she was called out here for and why it was so important.

Despite being outside the main entrance, there was plenty of noise coming out from the place. Sounds of metal clanging against one another, the many sounds of hammers clashing against steel, the sounds of cogs turning endlessly, and the sounds of many people shouting and getting work done. Motor City was certainly a busy place... but it also apparently some dark secret that needed to be taken care of, for the peoples' sake. It was a difficult thing to stomach in all honesty. Four thousand deaths at least in the past couple of weeks. As he waited for Leila to arrive, he wondered how she was going to react to the information. This tragedy was going to end today. Not one more person was going to die if he could help it.

Post by Noheme 13th October 2016, 1:15 pm

It was rather windy for some reason today. But something like that didn't bother Leila at all. In fact, it only helped make her coat look all the more awesome as it swayed in the gusts and lines of wind passing her. It would be fairly short ride on the horseback, but there was still at least few minutes left in there that the silver haired girl could use thinking. And just like that, she tried to recall just when was the last time she visited any mechanical city. Motor city, it would be her first time actually going to the place. But she was to neutral grounds before, and given how magic didn't work at all in that place, it was pretty reliant on machinery as well. But seeing as this place was actually named "Motor City" it would probably be even more modern looking than the Neutral Grounds. In all honesty, Leila could barely contain herself! While she was a nature girl for very obvious reasons, she actually enjoyed these things as well. Or rather, she enjoyed the steampunk era which was unfortunately somewhat rare these days. Golden and rusted gears spinning with pipes that would be nearly bursting because of the pressure from it's contents, it all looked so good in her head! And of course that was only one single part of it all. There was so much more that could be seen with this setting, it should appear more! In all honesty, if Leila wasn't born to wield nature magic in the form of Gardens of Eden, she would have probably gone for something themed like this. Magic related to the era of steampunk, however would that work. But something had to exist in that style, after all, the world was a big place. And some crazy pants who was just as obsessed with it would make the greatest gear magic of them all!

And it was not only aesthetics that pleased this girl. In the past when she was travelling across all of the continent, she had met many knowledgeable people. And as they shared their secrets with her, she grew more and more interested. At this point, she knew quite a bit too. How it all actually worked, what was needed to make those shiny or rusted gears turn, how to actually make all the parts so that they would fit together. It was all pretty brutal, requiring a sharp mind that wants to learn. Many different formulas were needed to count all the exact measurements and then only the best of machines could make the parts with such accuracy that they would fit together and not fall apart. And as it usually is, the old principles are usually the best! While the age was still moving forward, methods of creation stayed mostly the same. And even with all the futuristic technology that some tinkerers managed to create, it was easily visible that the good old method of forging and shaping metals was still the most effective one. Though it did require a living being to be present, one that knew everything he had to while remaining very cautious and precise! But as fun as it all sounded in her head, she would probably never be able to do the job. Because for Leila, life was almost nothing more than a daily fight against boredom at this point! And watching as a blade slowly cuts away pieces of metal from a larger component to create something new entirely? Simply too boring with not nearly enough excitement! Even before she became wizard, she was a traveler. A profession that comes with many exciting adventures that give great life experiences. In other words, that was simply who she was. Someone completely incapable of just not doing something very active. Because of that, she also hoped that today's contract would be something that she could at least somewhat enjoy and loose herself in. But she had to find Hero first in order to get any concrete information.

Finally approaching the city from afar, she started analyzing it's shape as soon as the blurry silhouette became a little bit more focused. Yes, even from that distance it looked like a place where technology thrived. And it certainly smelled like that too. Oh, Jiyu would not enjoy this place at all with her highly enhanced senses if even Leila could have her nose turned by all this. Funny how that black haired girl always came into the mind of the Eden's mage. Shaking her head and trying to focus on the task at hand once more, she also started noticing just how many more cars and other vehicles were around. She on her horse actually seemed like a pretty rare sight that lured many different gazes from bystanders that were going about their daily business. Having people watch you like this, it was kinda embarrassing, almost as if they were pointing at you in their minds because you did something. Even after all this time, she disliked being the center of attention when it came to big crowds of people. But at least she was now managing them fairly well without breaking apart. And thank goodness the person she was looking for was basically like a tower among tiny houses. Hero's height certainly had the advantage of the fact that no one could ever loose him in a crowded place. Hopping down onto the hard ground, she made sure to tie the horse's leash somewhere nearby and approach the giant with a smile on her face and a thought in her mind. Has he grown a little larger since their last assignment together? Maybe it was just Leila's mind playing tricks on her, but she could have sword that he was a bit shorter when she last saw him. But oh well, not that it actually mattered at all. Another question entirely was why this man stood here shirtless. If he loved his muscles so much, it would be much easier to just shoot few photos for the weekly sorcerers magazine. At least that way he would get tons of fan girls nearly fainting over his body. Actually, scratch that... thinking about what else they could be doing over his photos creeped Leila out just a bit too much.

"Your trusty Ace has arrived. So... gonna spill the beans on what we're actually doing out here? It would be pretty unpleasant if I rode all the way here for nothing interesting!"

All of her words were accompanied by a powerful grin that could not be bent by any response... maybe. Just from her stance right now and the new attire she chose to don, it was probably clear that this girl had turned over a new leaf and was trying to enjoy her life a little bit more. In the past, she was always such a stickler for rules, she barely had any moments when she could truly enjoy herself. But now, she intended on acting recklessly! Which was only supported by the new scar that was now slapped across her right eye. At least the eye itself looked and worked just fine.

Hero noticed the young Leila come up on a horse and tied it up securely before making her way over. Her appearance was somewhat different from the last time he spoke with her in person. Donned on her shoulders was a cloak of some kind and it looked like there was a scar upon her right eye that was not there previously. Clearly there had been much she went through in recent days. Yamamoto also bore a few new scars since they last saw each other. They had been busy. Speaking of appearances, Hero felt somewhat uncomfortable being unclothed at the upper half of his body. Normally the giant wore a large cloak to largely conceal himself, since his previous gear no longer fit him. Being in such a rush out the door today made him forget to grab it. Generally speaking, it was not entirely bad that he did not have a shirt or something on considering he did not have anything to hide; he was not some young girl either.

As the woman walked up, she started in by saying that she arrived and was ready to hear what this was all about. While Hero did wish the news was not so... unpleasant, it was necessary in expressing just how dire the situation in Motor City really was. Hero's face became very serious, along with a deep sense of sorrow welled up within his eyes. As he spoke, each word became heavy with grief.

"I am sorry, but the news is not good. I received an urgent letter from the Magic Council regarding several disappearances in Motor City. However, I wish it could only be summed up that simply. Leila, more than 4,000 people have gone missing from their homes in the last two weeks. I called you out here knowing that you would come with me. I need you to have my back on this. We must root out what is causing these disappearances before it can get any worse than it already is."

After the little monologue, there was a few moments worth of reprieve to let it all really sink in. There was not much information in the first place so the two wizards were on their own. With some investigating around the city, perhaps they could come across something vital. Whatever was causing these incidents could not have been human because such an advanced city would have required at least a small army to do that kind of damage; there were obviously no such signs in plain sight, so the root must have been something that was already in the city previously. The true answer alluded him, though he had a few hunches on the burner currently that he was willing to pursue first. Returning back to the current moment, his thoughts on the matter were pushed back slightly. He still had something to say to the young woman before they started digging.

"I realize that our last meeting was rough to say the least. I hope I can provide a more exemplary example of myself this time around. After all, this task may be more than either of us could bargain for."

Those news certainly were nothing good as Hero slowly threw all of those words at Leila. As a reaction to something like that, she simply looked to the side and brought her fingers to her chin, quickly assuming the position of someone who was intensely thinking. Kinda strange that she herself didn't hear about this incident, considering how huge it was. They probably wanted to keep it as much of a secret as was possible, not alerting the wide public as a great panic would quickly spread through the streets of this city if this knowledge became public. But why did the magical council not inform Leila herself of this? She was a capable mage for sure! Eh, maybe they already forgot of her existence altogether, it would not surprise her at all. Even when she was the Rising Star, she was still nothing more than a simple ghost to fill that spot as there was no one else. She lost it about as quickly as she gained it, meaning it's weight was just pure nothing. What a shame, truly... she though that she worked hard to get where she was but to others, it probably meant naught. But enough of that, there was at least one person who remembered that this girl existed in these situations, and he was standing right in front of her! So they could tackle this job together just like the last one, surely completing it flawlessly with no stumbles at all. But before she could start speaking again, he would say few more things that actually kinda forced another smile onto Leila's expression, her gaze once more fixating onto the giant's face. Even though she was now a bit taller, he was still far away from the reach, not that it was too bad. She could use him as a good climbing point or something.

"Are you seriously thinking that this is something we cannot handle unless we do our absolute best? While I agree on the doing our best part, I would like to remind you that the two of us are aces of Golden Phoenix! We're no weak mages that we once were, and we're more than capable of solving this situation, bringing peace to the Motor City! You shouldn't doubt that for ever a single second, buddy! So let's just get to it, find whatever is causing all the trouble and beat the crap outta it, cause that's how I like to do things!"

Well... maybe there was a little lie about Leila liking to do things this way, that was actually something completely new on her side. In the past, she liked being careful and tactical, approaching every single battle so that she would instantly gain the advantage. But recently, she just kinda discovered that charging on ahead without thinking could lead into much more fun scenarios and even more danger that you had to conquer! Not necessarily a bad thing, as long as you didn't put other people in the danger because of it. It all probably reflected in her new fighting style as well, but Hero would probably not quite recognize that, since they fought only very briefly on their last contract. This time it would be probably different, as there was a clear threat that they had to get rid of without fail. And it was probably about time they started searching for whatever they could find, getting on the branch that would lead them to their ultimate goal.

"Try to not smash the city with your fists while we're at it, okay? It would be shame to have all this lovely technology in tiny pieces after we're done~"

Unfortunately, Hero was incapable of thinking so positively at this point. He had been through a lot in his lifetime and he knew all too well the cruelty of reality. While it did make enough sense to remain positive in the face of danger, it was naïve to believe everything would turn out for the best with a little positive thinking. At a time like this, it was important to understand the nature of this task. Unlike the last time they worked together, their lives were really on the line now. With that in mind, it was just as vital that they had a positive outlook on completing it with little to no errors. There was no point in getting through this by risking more lives. The two wizards had to keep this between themselves so as to not involve anyone in the city. Fortunately, the Magic Council had a lid on these incidents from early on according to the letter, despite them not being able to solve it without proper assistance. Speaking of that, Hero was actually kind of irritated that he was not informed of this sooner. In fact, why did they not request assistance from anyone at all?! That thought made him angry with the irresponsibility of the council members. However, this was not the best time to be getting amped up by the faults of those in positions of power.

"Considering what we may be up against, there may be some destruction here and there. But that is a small price to pay for the safety of all the residents. Besides, it's not like we will get complaints for saving their asses."

The man's voice on that last statement was laced with some chuckles, though he was serious at the same time. In the end, what the man truly wanted most was success in today's task, even though he knew it was likely going to be more dangerous than anything he faced previously. Up until now, Yamamoto had not seen such large numbers caused within a single city, so it was just a bit daunting. The most he was capable of doing now was leading the charge in removing this threat with his comrade and friend, Leila Vergious. Titan Pallas was just about to turn and walk into the city when he heard a young male voice call out his name. It was unrecognizable and he was certain that no one knew of his arrival here. Upon searching out the owner of the voice, he spotted a young man and young woman headed straight toward them and one of them was waving casually. As they got close enough to be within hearing distance, the young man spoke up.

"Hello! You must be Hero, the wizard we have heard so much about! Is that your partner?"

"I am sorry, but who are you?"

"Did the Magic Council not tell you anything? My apologize. My name is Kenta and this is my little sister, Yuka. We're the ones who sent in the request for assistance with the incidents."

"I don't feel too comfortable about involving others in this matter, but I cannot stop the contractors themselves. This is a friend of mine, Leila and we are Aces of the guild known as Golden Phoenix. We will be your back-up in this, though we have no concrete information. What can you tell us?"

He felt wrong to include such young people in on something that could very well be a task that had very high risk factors. However, he never would have even known about these incidents if the request had not been sent in, which meant that Hero could not do or say anything to prevent the two siblings from joining them. How did Leila feel about this?

While Leila herself was keeping her spirit up, it didn't seem that it was working all that way on her partner at all. Oh, this gentle giant... it appeared that he was still not quite there with getting his personality into a more excited state. But at least it didn't seem as bad as last time when he just straight up looked completely emotionless at several occasions. Something like that was a big no-no for the younger girl as she placed her palms on her hips, looking into the city with narrowed eyes. She was eager to enter the place and start their search, but she suddenly stopped and started pondering in this pose. It was because she realized that they might be dealing with something that she would have no experience with. So many people missing, most likely dead and no one really knew who or what the enemy was. Did that mean they would have to deal with ninjas?! You know, the stealthy types that are generally pretty obnoxious and hard to get rid of as they are basically invisible and moving from one place to another at the speed of light. Hopefully that wasn't the case with this one, she really was in no mood to be dealing with enemy like that! Because of all the bad info she got from Hero, she just wanted to smash something or someone into teeny pieces! Yes, while it was pretty much invisible on the outside or in her speech and behaviour as whole... there was a boiling rage inside of her, just waiting to be unleashed. Leila was no hero of people at all, but even she hated to see other suffering and this was pretty much a mountain of sorrow in front of them, standing tall and waiting to be cut down by someone who is actually capable of doing so. And the Eden's mage was now pretty confident in her abilities to deal with nonsense like this, enemy of nearly any type as long as they weren't made out of fire. That one element was still the single greatest weakness of hers and she hated the fact, mainly because it will probably remain that way for the rest of the eternity. Her body was made out of Eden's essence, she was basically a walking tree that was shaped like a human. Very flammable... and then there was a voice, probably belonging to a youthful boy, that managed to tear her out of the dreaming world, breaking her thought chain and forcing her to turn in the direction the voice was coming from. Indeed, there was a boy who was dressed in a traditional style and with a katana by his side and a rather adorable girl next to him with... a giant mace? That was being dragged behind her in a rather menacing manner. That certainly was one odd combo right there, clearly no lost children that would just find themselves here on accident. And of course the first one they called over was her partner, the mighty Hero that was known all over the continent...

"Hello! You must be Hero, the wizard we have heard so much about! Is that your partner?"

While the girl was used to this by now, it still cut surprisingly deep. The fact that they knew the one she was here with but not her... she was just a shadow of this colossus and nothing more... just a petty partner that was here to act as a meat shield. Well, she would flipping show them that it was completely different than that! As she stood behind Hero who was talking, her eyes were burning with flames of... not really sure what, but it probably looked scary to the new duo that arrived. Actually, looking at the boy from closer distance, he really reminded Leila of an old friend that she had not seen in quite a while. Perhaps she should go and try to find the good ol' swordsman, though who knows where he could be right now. In any case, she listened to whatever the boy had to say and narrowed her sharp gaze even more than before. So these were the ones that reported this whole thing? And here she thought that everyone who went inside was missing and probably dead already. Guess not. The fact that they wanted to join was a bit worrisome however. After all, they still looked pretty much like children. Well, the guy was clearly older than the girl... but yeah, his sister was not exactly there in the terms of age. As cute and lovely as she was, it was just too young for Leila, what a shame. But to the silver haired maiden's surprise, Hero had no actual objections to this, didn't even try to persuade them to stay here and not actually go inside. He probably already knew that something like that would be utterly useless and that this duo would follow them inside anyway, no matter how hard they would try to stop them in their tracks. So why even bother... they just had to make sure to protect both of them on the way. But if they reported this incident, then they probably knew more than anyone. And every single bit of information was useful while fulfilling contract such as this one.

"So... Kenta and Yuka, was it? Cute names~ But could you share with us as much as you can about the situation? As much as I like charging into the unknown, it would be nice to know if there is a trap waiting in there to cut my head right off as I step on the pressure plate or something."

While the way she phrased it probably wasn't the best one, the smart little girl seemed to understand perfect and brought her index finger to her cheek as she smirked, seemingly proud that she could provide some extra information before they would begin.

"Of course! I took a little peek inside and saw a little bit of what was going on. It appears that we are dealing with inorganic threat, machines that are programmed to take out anyone they see! I saw only few of them, but judging by their structure... they probably very sturdy with little in the way of actual attack. I should be able to smash them just fine with my trusty hammer, so there is no need to worry!"

It sure was nice to see that they had confidence in them, but it would be best if that very confidence had it's limits. The last thing the duo of phoenixes needed was for these two to charge the enemy recklessly and get hurt in the process. But they had to see... it also looked like they did not have any more information regarding what was going on. Machines... Leila's mind started quickly wondering about again as she recalled that word. Yuka said they were programmed to do a specific task, but there was no way she could actually be sure of that just from looking at the enemy from afar. Though, hopefully she was right. Fighting against machias... it would be rather troublesome for Leila. Not only those sentient machines usually used fire as their weapon, her adoptive father was one as well. Having to fight one of his kind, it would bring great pain to her heart most likely. But they had to enter the town and see for themselves that as well. Hopefully, what Yuka said was accurate and all those robots were not actually sentient at all. That would help a lot, since machines like that can be quite easily outsmarted as well, even if their bodies are hard to destroy. Wood was not exactly all that powerful against metal, but with Leila's new abilities, she should be still able to smash them all good! Looking at Hero, she nodded and smiled slightly, trying to convey to him that she was ready to proceed and find with the presence of those two kids. They should probably get going and finish this as soon as possible, ensuring that no more innocent victims would perish by hands of those stupid walking pieces of metal scraps! It was their duty to liberate this place completely.

Leila, after Hero, emphasized the need to know everything that was already known about the disappearances, as well as what was causing them. The young woman's comment about charging in made the giant want to giggle due to the irony that Hero's style of fighting was all about simply charging in guns blazing. However, he refrained from such an outburst and listened to the little girl who responded rather well to the request. Clearly, she was rather intelligent for her apparent age but she tended to underestimate what exactly they were up against. According to Yuka, what was causing these incidents were inorganic beings. So... machines? That actually made a lot of sense. For such a large number of people missing in that short of time without being noticed, there was no way any outside forces could have managed it. So if that was the case, there must have been something controlling these machines and telling them to cause trouble. Something in this city was giving orders and that must have been what they were gathered here for. Before that, there was also the fact that there had to be a set-up for the group. A placement of roles, rather.

"Thank you for the information, Yuka. That means we will have company along the way. For that, we need to decide how we will fight for the most efficiency."

"What do you have in mind, Mister?"

"Kenta and I will be at the front to provide openings for you two to take any targets out without expending too much energy. Leila will attack from blind spots in order to get the most out of her multiple-hitting Magic, while Yuka will attack when enemies are bunched closer together to get the most out of that mace. As for us, I will focus on bringing enemies in close while Kenta's swordplay will keep them occupied. That should enable us to cover each of our own blind spots and enable us to expend the least energy while still dishing out the most hell on our enemies along the way."

"That actually sounds really thorough! I thought you'd be all brawn with all that muscle but I guess I was wrong."

"It's settled, then! Lets get going."

While Hero was glad that he could provide a solid strategy for taking on our vicious company, he was still rather unsure about their actual prowess in combat. A job like this was not for practically children to undertake. He even felt the same way about his cousin, Elyx, despite him being a Wizard Saint. The giant would most likely find out soon enough. In light of getting set to go, Kenta and Hero walked to the front while Leila and Yuka were just behind them. This formation happened to be the best considering he and Kenta were the ones who would be jumping in first. Speaking of which, in this kind of scenario, the enemy had the better advantages especially if they were inorganic. Knowing that, Yamamoto's body tensed up and was ready for any enemies who may have appeared.

"I forgot to say this earlier, Kenta, but I found it slightly offensive that you called my friend my partner. She is a good friend and is in fact at least as proficient as me."

"O-Oh, I apologize! I didn't mean any harm by it. In fact, I do recognize her. She was a Rising Star wasn't she? That's a pretty amazing feat!"

"It is fine, so long as we're clear on that. But nevermind for the time being. Have any of you noticed that the city has gotten incredibly quiet?"

Just as the giant said that, everything really was dead silent. In front of the four fighters appeared five indistinct metallic objects that slowly formed into humanoids, though clearly they were not human. It seemed that they had company and they did not look like they wanted to talk; the first one to move was Hero whom rushed forward and landed a punch on one of them. While it did get pushed back a significant distance, it did not fall to the ground. Such was the resilience of machines, he supposed. Then again, this was not the first time Hero dealt with machines. He was already prepared to meet them all evenly but then he called out to the other three.

"Just like we talked about, everyone! Let's end it quickly!"

The giant ran again at the one he originally punched, and once he reached it, he once again punched it in the chest and then threw it at one of the other machines. Meanwhile, Kenta was already starting to keep the others busy while Yuka was currently waiting for an opening. It was up to Leila to really dish out the pain, though Hero managed to deal some damage at the same time. The two that were on the ground due to Hero's efforts eventually got back up and headed on after Kenta who was starting to have trouble taking on all of them. Because of that, Hero ran on over to assist in keeping them all together and busy while the ladies thrashed them.

As always, Hero quickly took charge both in conversation and the whole party as well. It was… just like him to be doing something like that. Even during their last job, all the girl did was follow the big man wherever he went. And now, it seemed that it would be just like that time too. To be completely honest, it kinda ticked Leila off. She always wanted to be the leader, despite being kinda bad at it in all honesty. She was not great with leading other people, much worse than many in fact. And yet, there was always this desire to insert herself into that position of power. It was probably wrong of her to be thinking this way, but she did regardless. At least she was not the type of person that would always rebel against something that she did not like, meaning she said not a single world when her partner took the charge. And no, she did not care for his excuses such as protect the fragile girls. Because this little goddess was very far from actually being anything fragile, especially with the way her body was now. In any case, the strategy was decided and formation formed. Though Leila would probably break it eventually with how her fighting style worked… she never truly followed a set of rules that were given, she simply made her own plans as how to deal with the enemy during the encounter itself. While there were good strategies and surely the one they were going with now was no of them, every enemy required a unique approach. Everyone was good at something else and weak against a specific thing. Figuring stuff like that out usually changed Leila’s fighting style greatly in her battles. Hero probably did not quite know that yet, but he would surely learn today. After all, he just so happened to not be all brawn with all them muscles as Yuka mentioned. That comment alone made the silver haired maiden chuckle quite a bit in the background, as she actually thought exactly the same thing before she met the giant for the very first time herself. It really was funny how appearances could deceive in some cases. It also lead to a simple though, a question where Leila wondered just what did other people think when they saw her walking around. Her looks were… pretty unique with the silver hair that was getting transparent the longer it was after all. A fresh scar across one of her eyes and patches of weird gray skin everywhere on her body. Yeah, she probably looked like a big weirdo that over did it with some magical experiment or something. Especially with how there were people very quick to judge based on appearances alone, it would not really surprise her if she was ever called something like a failed experiment. She was actually used to quite a lot from the old days when she was travelling with her mechanic father. Some places on this continent… pretty unwelcoming! She was called a freak and vermin many times throughout the years already. Not exactly nice when you call a child that she was like that, but it was what it was. Nothing she could do about it now except maybe try to make sure that they won’t call her like that in the future as well. She was not on a good way towards that though. Thankfully she cared very little about what others thought about her. Of course she had a desire to be seen in a positive light and being adored by others, everyone craved that. But she was just fine without it all as well, and that was what counted for her. Or at least that was what she said to herself every single day she woke up and went to bed. If her character wasn’t hardened by her past and all the battles she went through, she would be probably crying herself to sleep awfully often. But as strange as it all seemed to her at times, there were people that liked her. Like Hero, with his strange sense of justice and equality or whatever. The fact that he called out Kenta on what he said, it embarrassed Leila slightly. She wanted to stop him before he finished, but was unable to do so. And like that, the sword wielding boy was scolded by the intimidating giant. That in itself didn’t make the Eden’s mage all that happy, and the fact that he knew she was a rising star… well, frankly, it looked like this new duo was all about the magical world. And fanboys like that, it was only natural that they would be aware of every single little change in that list of people. She got the title and then she lost it in extremely short amount of time, there was no need to even mention the fact that she was in there ever. At least the conversation itself went away as soon as it started with Leila being silent through the whole duration of it, just blushing gently. Their words echoed between the homes, truly showing the weight of Hero’s words when he said that it was awfully quiet around here. That was probably not a good thing? It meant that there were no civilians at least, no one that could get caught in the crossfire, and that was always a good thing for wizards on this lever. Her own spells finally started getting some range on them and she had no doubt in mind that Hero was the same way. There would be some destruction wherever they wanted it to happen or not, and they had to accept that fact. WIth not a sound around, that fact was way more bearable and it also meant that they would not have to hold back at all once the battle begins. And speaking of battle, some of those machines that Yuka mentioned earlier finally appeared! At last, the battle would begin. With five of them and four of their own, it looked like pretty equal battle. Though Leila had no doubt in her mind that this was only the first wave of many, many more that were waiting for them to deal with this first. And of course, Hero was the first one to attack without giving a single signal to the group. Well, at least it looked like his fists were pretty hard hitting, so that was something! Of course it made Leila question once more just how many spells he could have. There was only so many ways you could punch the enemy, at least as far as she knew anyway. Kenta started going soon after and the silver haired maiden looked for whatever she could do. And once they all started piling on top of the swordsman, she got an interesting idea. Running around then, she tried to face backs of as many of those robots she could, giving those in front her own signal.

“Outta the way! We don’t want you two to get caught in all of this!”

Hopefully the two guys managed to hear her and took the advice, leaving only the five machines in a bulk. Spreading her hands, two big roots started rising from the ground and circling the small crowd of enemies and eventually tightening around them, almost as if it was a robe that was trying to tied them all together in one place. And as soon as their movement wa at least a little bit restricted, Leila showed her spell’s true power! Giant wooden spikes suddenly shot out of the roots, partially impaling all the robots at once. That was one attack down… and seeing as they were all still together like that, Yuka took some action as well! Running towards them all with that mace of hers, she made sure to put all her force into the swing, everyone else simply watching as the two metals connected. The hit completely shattered all the roots and spikes, but it also greatly damaged all the enemies and sent them flying into a nearby building that nearly collapsed because of the impact that occurred. Something like that created a really big cloud of dust and other nasty particles, restriction vision of the area. So for now, the girls were a bit unsure of what happened to the enemy, if they were truly and completely defeated. The hit Yuka landed looked pretty painful along with what Leila and everyone else did, so perhaps they would not get up again. But again, the Eden’s mage could only wait and see right now, not wanting to launch another attack without analyzing the situation at least a little bit first. Wasting her energy really would not be the best right now, even though she was capable of getting most of her magical energy back in pretty short amount of time, something that not many other wizards were capable of and a great gift from her Gardens of Eden that were very much saturated with magical energy. But just in case they would get up and try to attack back all of a sudden, she decided to put up some quickly acting defenses. Snapping her fingers, she felt as a certain magical imprint disappeared from her back and reformed as eight floating black balls behind her back, emitting an alluring purple glow. A concentrated dark energy that appeared on her body when she reaquired her partial godhood. Whatever it really was, she was a bit unsure. But she knew that it was a very useful tool that served her a great deal so far. Moving all the balls in front of her body instead of their usual position, she made sure that they could turn into shields at moment’s notice if necessary. Though she prefered to keep them for attack instead of having them shattered because they had to be used for defense against some ordinary robotic punches.

At the very least these things were sturdy. They had to have some kind of weakness but at this rate, for the sake of time, they all just needed to whack them until they became scrap. Currently, Leila was doing her own thing in dealing with the machines. Something occurred to him then. Why was the giant constantly setting up strategies like this? Of course the first thing that came to mind was the fact that a group needed order to function efficiently under pressure. However, in this type of scenario, it was unnecessary. The reason why it was unnecessary? Well, put simply, Leila and he were friends, right? That meant they should have been able to stay relaxed around one another and have each others’ backs. Instead, Hero tried to force a leadership role upon himself without even considering the fact that it was not needed this time.

This was definitely not the first time he did this either. He also did the same thing when he went on that job with Elyx to combat that organization of machines under Ein Heim. He did not have to give everyone labels, especially since at the time Yamamoto was still very weak in comparison to others. There were also many times where he took initiative and did things all on his own, such as when he fought that swarm of werewolves and the alpha; that time when he and Isaac traveled into Kyoka, wherein he did the brunt of the fighting by himself. Was this all because of the way he wanted to use his strength? The way he brought himself to this point was protecting others at the cost of his own safety. It made logical sense to him that the sacrifice of one to protect the lives of several was a worthy investment. In reality though, that was a very lonely road he treaded on. Was that truly what he wanted? No. More than anything what Hero wanted was to be surrounded by people whom he cared about, and he wanted the strength to protect all of them knowing he was not alone anymore. Sure it was extremely cliche, but it was a fact.

Nearly his entire life was spent alone. No family, no friends, no lovers. For the longest time, he was okay with it. Certainly habit was what the man reverted to in most situations still, but he could not afford to remain like that forever. Titan Pallas did not need to be a leader, neither in its myths nor in Hero’s own timeline. To protect. That was his desire. To that end, Yamamoto had to make changes, no matter how insignificant they may have seemed. In order for the giant to become what he wanted to be, he had to first of all be less commanding. To others around him he probably sounded kind of like a prick when he threw orders around like he was some kind of boss. Secondly, he needed to lighten up a bit more. Morale was an important factor in nearly any scenario that dealt with combat and groups of people after all. Actually, that way of thinking was another reason why he was distant from others to begin with. Thinking as though the people around him were only comrades-in-arms. Was Leila only a comrade? Was his cousin Elyx only a comrade? They could not have been solely so. That was such a distant way of describing those two people, especially Elyx since he was literally family.

All around the man was fighting going on while he was going through a personality crisis. Five more of those mechanical troops came from the shadows and joined the fray. Things were starting to really get hectic. What was Hero to do then? Forego the strategy he came up with earlier and wipe all of them out with Leila? Or continue to follow this path alone? The answer was obvious when it was put that way. Hero’s mind was silenced by an intense will he had never shown before, which caused the ground beneath him to shudder and crack. Ethernano gathered quickly into his body and then he flung himself back into the thick of combat. Titan started by using the force of his right hand to smack one of the machines on the side of its head, causing it to cartwheel through the air and into a couple of others who were fighting with Kenta. Then the giant jumped into the air and pushed off of a wind draft to then grab one of the other weakened machines by their shoulders, thus making a front flip and smashing it into the ground. The resulting force of the blow broke it in half and sundered the floor under it. At this point, the man was near his friend Leila and took the bit of reprieve to speak quickly to her.

“Thank you, Leila. You helped me realize something very important. I can’t remain as I have been forever. I must change. I must grow. Nothing is ever so simple that a plan can be made for everything. So let’s really get this show on the road. Back to back!”

What could the man go after next? Kenta was still getting swarmed but he seemed to be handling them rather well. He knew Leila could handle herself but at the same time he wanted to fight alongside her. In order to do that, Hero needed to gather up as many of them as he could and get them away from Kenta and Yuka. With that knowledge, the giant pulled along each of the inorganic soldiers by their solid, metallic arms and threw them to the ground further ahead from the four wizards. It took him only a few moments to gather them all up in one area. Due to his size and strength, he was easily capable of moving the hefty human-shaped piles of metal where he wanted without too much effort. What was going through his mind right now, one may have asked? Well, Leila and he were the experienced wizards despite being hired to assist, so in his mind, the ones who needed protecting were the younger members of the small group. Moments later after moving the enemies away, Yamamoto spoke in a confident, reassuring tone to the others who were probably close by somewhere.

“Kenta. Yuka. Leila and I have this covered so you two sit back and relax. We’ll do the protecting from here on out. Why is that, you may ask?! Because we are here!”

Post by Noheme 26th October 2016, 2:17 pm

It seemed that the robotic enemies were indeed down for good, as nothing seemed to get out of the dust cloud of the half-way collapsed building. So that was five of them down, while many more were probably on their way because of all the noise they made just now. As useful as it would be right now, their magic was not exactly made for stealth missions. But in the end, that hardly mattered! All of them were strong, even the newly added pair that consisted of Yuka and Kenta. While they were young and inexperienced, there was certainly talent for magic and fight inside of them. That much could the silver haired girl tell just from looking at the way they moved and fought alongside them. With the four of them, nothing could properly stand in their way! No matter the strength and power, they will conquer whatever is waiting for them, obtaining victory and saving all the future lives that would otherwise perish at the hands of this mechanical threat. And just as the Eden's mage crossed her hands at her chest, looking happy at the tiny victory, more enemies appeared. And just as all the dust settled on the battlefield, the ones that she had thought were defeated until now stood back up again. Were they simply pretending because they knew that reinforcements were coming? It was possible, and if so, then they were actually pretty damn smart. But that only made it all more exciting! It was a while since Leila faced a proper challenge, so this was a good way to test all of her new abilities. And not only that, something seemed to have changed with Yamamoto as well. It was rather subtle from his movement and fighting alone, but it became much more obvious the moment he started talking. And once he did, he ignited those flames of excitement inside of the girl's eyes as she showed a confident smile directed at her partner.

"Took you long enough to get it, you big dummy! To finish this and bring closure to the deaths that didn't have to happen... we'll happily kick them all the way to scrapyard! You better do your best to show me how well you can fight without your plans too!"

A little challenge for her newly awakened friend to show off. Even if he was trying to be humble, everyone needed to shine brightly from time to time! And today could be his time to show just how good and strong he could be. And just how much he trusted his friends, how much he was willing to place his own life into their hands. Because only with that, you could truly fight alongside one another. It was possible to do so without this trust, but it just wasn't it. Absolute trust in one another, that was an unbreakable bond that could lead anyone a long, long way. So right now, they had to show the whole world that they were capable of forming this bond and making it the strongest thing in the entire universe! And it looked like they understood one another quite a bit already with Hero doing his best to gather them all in one spot where Leila could hit them hard, all at once. Though she still didn't quite agree with what he said next, though she definitely wasn't planning on scolding the big man because of it. Rather, she tried to go about it in much more playful way. Sticking her tongue out at him for a bit, she also winked with confidence that the two children behind them could handle this much.

"These two came here to see two real wizards in action, true. But I'm sure they also want to showcase their own powers so that those two real wizards can tell them where to improve and whatnot, isn't that right?"

Looking behind her, she easily spotted both Yuka and Kenta giving deep nods to her words, smiles splattered across their faces as their eyes had the same spark as she had herself. They wanted to prove themselves, test the limits of their abilities and their bonds. So she returned her gaze at the titan and sighed gently.

"Sit tight for just a moment. I'll show you just how much you can do, even without giving any real orders or having strategies! Since everyone has to start learning somewhere, and I always wanted to be in the role of a big sister~"

Giving him those playful worlds, she wasted no more time and started sprinting towards the newly formed horde of enemies, many of them still trying to properly get back on their feet from being tossed about by the rather strong wizard. And jumping right in the middle of them, she placed her hands on the ground, her magical energy flowing into the Earth itself. Four giant roots suddenly sprung from the ground, forming a rather big spiral around the girl and sending all the robots flying into the air above where they were standing just mere moments ago. And just as she cast that spell, all eight orbs that were behind her back started floating freely in the air, hitting the flying robots and seemingly random intervals. While it looked like that was simply made to inflict some more damage on them, it actually oriented their metallic bodies mid air slightly so that each of the balls could pick a target and ram into it, once again sending all the targets flying in a specific direction. That direction was at Yuka who was already preparing with her giant mace. And just as the robots started unwillingly travelling towards her, she started spinning at rather rapid pace, eventually hitting every single one of the remaining enemies, sending them further into the air. The combo was shaping nicely and there was only one single piece missing. Kenta who was standing a little bit further away finally started running as well, jumping onto Yuka's shoulders and from there, jumping even higher and finding himself among the flying robotic parts that were slowly falling apart. And to showcase his own move set, he once more unleashed the katana and started cutting all around him with precise movements, remaking the weakened robots into not very tasty looking sushi. Only spare parts started falling all around Hero as the other tree people looked at him, all clad in smug expression.

"I know that you want to protect us, mister Hero. But that is not why we came here. We want to help as well, even if we cannot do as much... so please, allow us to shine a little bit too. We promise that we'll stay out of your way as much as possible, retreating into the back lines as soon as something above our lever shows up."

Yuka accompanied Kenta's words with a big smile and constant nodding of her head, the giant mace resting against the ground behind her back. They clearly respected Hero, but because of that very fact, they also desired to fight alongside him, just like they did their best to accompany Leila right now. And while they were but children, their spirits were still burning with indescribable desire to help all the people that could suffer from this unknown thread! Right now, they also wanted to be heroes of their own story.

Despite what Leila said, Hero continued to get a bad feeling about this whole thing. Sure those mechanical troops were sturdy, but they were not even truly trying to attack. It was as though their sole purpose was to buy time for something else. It was important to consider that, as technology, they were more intelligent than the wizards were and with their kind of numbers it made sense that if they were trying to buy time, this would have been the way to do it. But for what? There had to be some sort of source behind these things and there had to be a reason why it was happening. What worried him the most was the rest of the group’s positivity. The giant was not so certain that the younger ones truly understood the danger of this task. Leila had a point when it came to his own way of communicating and such, but it would have been naive to think everything would turn out fine if they thought positively. Unfortunately, reality was cruel.

It did not take long for the three of them to take care of the eight machines that remained after the two Hero took care of previously. Their teamwork skills were pretty solid but they weren’t as efficient as they could have been. Leila set the attack up perfectly by launching them at Yuka, but the girl made an error in judgment when she twirled around to attack them. What would have happened if there were more? She would not have been able to stop her momentum in time to defend herself that way and thus could have been in a lot of danger. Kenta did well in the way he dealt with the targets in the air, but he neglected the protection of his sister. Scientifically speaking, in the air, velocity was zero in most cases and unless he had some way of pressing off of the wind he would have been incapable of protecting his sister from threats in time. While they did remove the visible threats, they left themselves wide open for anything else that may have shown itself from nearby shadows or unseen corners.

“If I tell you to run, you run. If I tell you to move, you move. As great and all that is, this is not a game. There is real danger in this place.”

The giant took a breath out and shook his head before chuckling a few times. Titan Pallas laughed because it almost felt like a father scolding his son and daughter. Perhaps, as one of the oldest members of Golden Phoenix, he could start being like a father or elder brother to them all. The man had more to fight for now, than ever before in his life. That was his story. To protect his family, blood or no. A couple moments passed before he spoke again with a confident and more easy-going tone, despite the serious thoughts which lingered in the back of his head.

“With that out of the way, let’s find out what is really going on in this place!”

Thankfully Leila knew that machines were always made one way or another. They would always behave a certain way and do nothing outside of that specification. That was giving advantage to the wizards, as long as they knew what exactly was their enemy built to do anyway. And Leila got a pretty good grasp at that already. And about their teamwork... well, it was pretty rather obvious from the very beginning that it would be nowhere near perfect. After all, they just met one another not that long ago! No one could create a good teamwork in a time frame that short, no matter how good they were. Which was a grave flaw of many teams that did not work together very often. Or people that were happy enough with choosing mercenaries as their partners when need appeared. No matter how strong or skilled individuals were there, every single person required a different approach, a different strategy. It was pretty much exactly as with their previous discussion about formations and overall victory strategies. Unless they were talking things like 'Hit it till it days' then there truly was no universal way they could follow in order to obtain victory. It was probably hard to follow that if you were always thinking that you could win with a simple strategy that you thought was impenetrable, but it would all come with time surely. For now, both Yuka and Kenta had their fun. So upon hearing words from Hero, they just kinda silently retreated behind the more experienced mages, just observing the destruction around them that they caused only few seconds in the past. At least they could be proud on themselves for this! Even if it was not perfect, they managed to show that they indeed had plenty of skill to actually fight, which may have been even enough for the two of them. But they were just too deep in now, so they had to see it through to the end, even if they had the option to retreat right now.

"You worry too much. They're good kids and when you order, they will follow no doubt. I don't think there is any need to be confirming that after our display, they can be as obedient as sheep when the situation requires it!"

It probably sounded a bit like Leila was against what Yamamoto said, but she was in fact trying to make sure that he understood. His words were true and the two darlings would follow their every order, as they were aware of the possible dangers in this place. It just didn't show quite as much as the taller man would probably like to. It was also then that something rather strange happened. Almost as if the air itself started vibrating, making Leila feel a tad bit disoriented all of a sudden. Pretty uncomfortable this thing, but the Eden's mage tried to not think about it too much. Though there was a possibility that this was an enemy's attack.

"Did you feel that just now?"

Her question was obviously directed at Hero, but Yuka answered instead, seemingly knowing just what in the world were they all feeling right now.

"That's a disturbance in the air! It's harmless, however... considering out position right now, it must mean that we are in fact heading in the right direction, right into the center of this lion's den! The close we are, the more often we'll probably feel these, so please, pay no attention to it at all. It's sole purpose is to distract anything that gets too close, it should not be a hindrance in battle unless one of you is a slayer, prone to a motion sickness."

Leila certainly wasn't one and as far as she knew, Hero wasn't one either. So it was probably fine and they could continue walking on just fine without having to worry too much. Though it did make her a little bit more... aware of their current situation and everything that was going on, a constant feeling that they could be attack by something very powerful in the moment's notice. Definitely a nice feeling, that for sure. Even a walking tower like Yamamoto had to feel that way, and perhaps he did ever sooner than the silver haired girl. After all, he was a little bit of a worrying type, the one that would nearly always consider the worst possible outcome to their situation just to make sure that they can actually avoid it if it were to come to it at all. It was good to have someone like that with her on the job, though she did not know how to deal with that way of thinking. But at least she was making an impact on him so far, changing him hopefully for the better step by step. They just had to keep that up, not letting anything screw it all up. It was shame that sometimes they could just not prevent that however. Bad things just happened from time to time, and that was nothing pleasant. Especially when it was actually completely unavoidable by any means. Things like that were frustrating to say the least. And Leila simply hated it when things like that happened, things that were out of her power even though she was supposed to be an almighty goddess. Of course, she was kinda placed into that position and she was only a goddess in the way of having followers, but still... some great power would have been nice to had. Especially these days when it seemed that the whole world was somehow falling apart, all her friends busy or having some problems of their own, wanting to be left alone or being straight-up busy all the time. It kinda felt as if she was back in the old days when she was all alone nearly all the time. But at least she had Hero right now, so it wasn't just everything bad. There was something good too, in a form of a friend that she knew she could count on!

When the young Yuka mentioned it, there was actually something odd about the air around them. Acknowledging the feeling made his entire body tense up; it was not out of fear… but out of rage. This man was beyond angry at whatever was causing these things to happen. Because of this intense feeling he had never experienced until now, he was unable to contain his magic presence. Sure, he was not the best at sensing others… but he was certainly quite skilled in concealing the strength he had earned in the last couple of months. What flowed out around his body was a bright golden hue that was smooth in its appearance and his pure white eyes seemed to also glow like that of two lighthouses. Was this anger? Was this what it meant to feel hatred toward someone or something? He did not like the feeling initially, but after a couple of moments he accepted it. Elyx would have told him it was okay to get mad every once in awhile. The problem with that was… was it really okay to let someone like Hero lose his temperament, which he held onto his entire life?

    “Kill.”

A voice made itself known in the back of Yamamoto’s head, and he recognized it. Was it himself? That couldn’t have been right. As far as he knew, the giant was not one to legitimately talk to himself on a conscious level like this.

“Let yourself feel. Unleash yourself. Let your enemies fear you. Kill!”

As the voice spoke in this cold, cryptic manner in the back of his mind, more humanoid machines made themselves known. Hero was angry, but at what exactly? The answer was clear as day when he asked the question. Corruption. Blood boiled within the man as he took a deep breath outward before speaking to the others who were close by. A grin grew on his face, though it was not quite the same as before. The emotions he gave off with his Magic and his eyes turned the grin almost… cynical in nature. Rage toward corruption and what it could do to innocent people. Rage.

“You three gave me quite a show. Let me show you how the big shots get the job done.”

Each footstep forward after speaking forced the ground to groan; moments later, he stooped low and dug his large feet into the concrete and launched himself at the five machines who were also headed toward the rage-filled giant. Titan then clenched his fists and said aloud, “Grit those teeth!” Not even a second later, he brought his right fist to the ground and launched the five machines into the air via a large torrent of compressed air. Impact on the ground created a ten-meter-wide circular crater. The torrent of air, brought the five things close together before they began to fall back to the ground. The giant took one step back and charged ethernano into his right arm. As he did so, everything around him seemed to grow silent, as though the city was bracing itself for what was about to happen. The strike was timed perfectly to where, when he threw it, his fist would connect with the machines that were crunched together. Moments later, said punch finally connected… and there was a delay. For a brief moment there was absolutely no impact or shock wave or anything. Then the sound that became heard first was the terrible sound of metal bending and twisting and churning into something completely unrecognizable. Then following that sound was a huge shock wave that blew the machines several meters away and into two buildings before it stopped. Windows in surrounding buildings shattered from the strike’s pressure, and a straight line in the direction of where the machines flew was solid concrete sundered. Torn apart. Yamamoto stood tall amidst the destruction. It was necessary to make a statement. They, the wizards, were coming to stop this mechanical force. The buildings in this city were sturdy enough to remain standing even if they were to go all-out; they could rebuild when this mess was over.

His body after a few moments began to calm down, the golden hue fading away into nothing and his eyes returning to normal. The anger he felt subsided for the time being, though his blood continued to boil over the entire situation. Then the man laughed a few times and turned around to face his two young allies and friend. He spoke in that same confident, proud manner which was very different from what he was giving off only moments ago. Something was changing deep within the giant’s heart, for better or for worse. Only time could tell which way he would eventually go.

“You two have a long way to go! Leila is just as good as I am, or better. This path is long and filled with obstacles like this one. With this kind of confident attitude that you already have, I am certain you will arrive at your destination. Now, let us hope that we can get through the day with as little effort as we have thus far!”

Even as he smiled widely, however, a voice lingered within the subconsciousness of his mind which spoke cryptically once more before fading away.

“Yes. Know that rage. Come. Your Will shall become Justice upon corruption.”
