    The Heaven's Forge

OOC: Using the nightshade appearance, the second one on her profile, which a link to is in my sig.

The morning was bright and colorful, in contrast to the night, which was dark and dreary, or at least interrupted. Beauty sleep became no more as Nightshade awoke within her bed and slammed the alarm clock to silence. She wasn't sure if it was due to a hunger induced dream, or she just moved into a haunted location, but a phantom telling her to visit the glowing portals had visited her mind's machinations during her sleep and disturbed her ever so, to the point where she deemed it important to visit the portals, or at least make a concerted effort to do so. This wasn't due to wishing to help the spirit, but rather she wanted to make sure that it originated from the portals and not her new abode, otherwise she would have to hire an exorcist to take care of the problem and the house would probably smell of garlic and candle wax for weeks, as opposed to flowery perfection and glistening perfumes. Doing her usual routine, she strapped on her typical little adventuring outfit, and headed out the door, hoping to resolve the problem without much incident.

Apparently the planet was called coconut or something? Honestly, Nightshade hadn't paid much attention, aside from the scenery, which seemed, from the posters at least, to flow with magical energy and portents. It was only when she arrived at the portals that she found the planet was called Kyoka, or at least that's what the people in Fiore called it, for all Nightshade knew the planet's real name could the hokey pokey or bumstickle. All silliness aside, well for the moment, Nightshade pondered for a bit the ramifications of going onto another planet, especially one which seemed to bolster magical power, then she decided that for one such as her, it just meant that the planet could buff her abilities to a fragment what they naturally should be, which was all the more reason to dial the gate and head on through.

It was a strange feeling, being warped to another planet, and to be frank, Nightshade could do without the experience again, it wasn't unpleasant just odd. She enjoyed the more refined things in life, and having your molecules scattered about the cosmos wasn't one of the finer things. Hopefully, amidst the lush lights flickering in the sky and the beautiful greenery and magical pulses she could find some kind of refuge to the nightmare that had plagued her the night before. Thankfully it wasn't too long that a little light just like the one she had found stalking her dreams manifested itself nearby. Observing it for but a brief moment, Nightshade pondered what exactly it was trying to say to her, or what it's purpose was in the first place. Little did she know that it was waiting for another to arrive, one who had a similar experience.

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
For a second, it was like none of this had ever happened. Like the best dream you've ever had, one that fled from your mind the second your eye opened, and suddenly you were hit with reality all over again. Laughing voices surrounding her, the smell of line and fresh mountain air filling her lungs. A soft, familiar touch– And then she was jerked out of it all. From that soft, gentle dream that had been the definition of perfect to Sorano. For a second, the letter mage mourned the loss, curling up into a ball in this new dream, one where she was surrounded by darkness in the middle of nowhere. Dreams were one of the only places where she ever showed emotion, the other being back in that secluded area in the Phoenix Mountains. For who knew what would get out of hand the second she let her feelings take over?

As she floated there, in that dark, dark space, the slightest whisper caught her ears. Opening red eyes in this realm of dreams, Sorano cautiously moved towards it, the sound growing louder and louder. Images swirled through her mind, the intensity and speed nearly overwhelming her organized thoughts. Through it all, she heard just three words spoken in that high, clear voice, sounding like a triangle of sorts. Come to Kyoka! Come to Kyoka! And then it was all over. One of the youngest human mages in Fairy Tail, Sorano Granon jolted awake in her bed, upsetting a tabby exceed who laid in a hammock nearby.

"Sooooraaaanoooo!!!!" she complained, curling back up into a ball, "It's the weekend for goodness sake! We don't have to work today, riiight?" The letter mage blinked at Hoshi, realizing that it was indeed Saturday and they could take the day off. They had enough money right now, anyway. But... Sorano planted a hand against her head, remembering the dream. She quickly rolled over to grab her dream journal, recording the details exactly. "Actually, Hoshi, I believe we do have a request from a spirit or something of the sort," she said calmly, letting the exceed read what she had written. A telepathic job request...well, it wasn't exactly unusual in such a magic-filled place as Fiore, but it was a little fishy. "Hey, it's worth checking out, right?"

An hour later, the duo were soaring over Fiore, with their usual preparations for a job. After having done some quick research in the guild library, they had pinpointed the location of the Wakusei Portals and were now flying fast towards it. As they neared, however, the exceed would suddenly slow. "Someone's down there," she said cautiously, glancing down at Sorano. The girl would pause, thinking, then said, "Let's check things out, anyways. It's more likely she's a wandering mage than a dark one, really. Who knows, she might even be a legal mage?" There was also the possibility that she had received the dream-sent request, but that seemed somewhat unlikely to the emotionless mage.

Landing in front of Nightshade, with the ball of light in between them, Sorano ran her gaze quickly over the figure before nodding quickly in greeting and glancing down at the glowing ball. The woman seemed focused on the ball, as well. Could this be their guide for the job? Tilting her head back up and gazing at the stranger curiously, Sorano asked, "May I inquire as to what brought you to such a location?" What if she had been summoned by the unusual dream as well.

First, there was a spirit that had decided to mess with her in her dreams, this was fine as many times people approached her because they had only the most important of requests, but now there was another, or should she say 'another's' that had approached her. A girl and her cat, there was a joke in there somewhere but she didn't quite wish to find or say at this moment, instead, she would flicker her head back and forth between the spirit floating about her head and the newcomers to this land who had approached her. Did this thing talk to others too, was it just trying to find lewd dreams or something, what if all of this was just some kind of massive conspiracy! Nah, it was probably just needing the help of others with special talents, or at least that's what everyone would hope. After a few moments of her indecisively looking between the two groups, she would focus her gaze towards Sorano, and her fine furry friend.

"Well, I was debating having a holiday at one of the nice resort planets, but then this curious little fellow came to me while I was sleeping. It wasn't anything lewd, more like a cry for help, though I didn't understand all of it."

Crossing her arms, Nightshade attempted to reason a little bit here, as this was a weird situation, and one that she normally wouldn't care to try and solve, but her whim carried her here, so sadly now she must. There was this random little girl with her tiny winged cat, and this little glowing spirit, was she still dreaming, or was she experiencing something more sinister. No use fretting about it too much, but she would have to keep her eye on these three just to make sure there wasn't anything too strange about them, wouldn't want to walk into a trap and all that.

"Though, I don't know if all of that concerns you correct? I mean you did walk up to me which is slightly suspicious... do you happen to know anything about all of this, somehow related to the little white ball bouncing around my head? If so, please do tell, I'd love to be illuminated about this little scamp, well in the information way, I think he is already illuminating me physically with his little ghost body."

It wasn't much, but she hoped that some information could be gained. it seemed crazy, though, trying to ask a little girl for information, but in a world where people could fart fireballs, it's not like a little girl throwing around magic would be strange, heck the cat was probably magical too, which is why asking questions a bit slowly was the way to go, could never be too careful and all that, especially in a foreign land after a spirit had invaded your dreams.

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
Sorano wondered if the woman was being sarcastic or not. It seemed like that remark would seem slightly sarcastic, but then again, the Wakusei Portals and the planets they led to. Maybe there were good ones for a vacation, or maybe they were all dark and barren. It was rare for her not to have read millions of books about a place already, but she'd focused more on just Fiore in the past. She made a note to herself to get some books on the portals from the guild library when she got back. However, this woman's words piqued her interests, as it sounded suspiciously like what had happened to her.

"That's actually very interesting, as the same events occurred with me as well," Sorano said thoughtfully, thinking. "I was simply treating it like another job request, since I've had many in different forms." Honestly, she didn't think it was too weird. After all, she was emotionless and first of all, couldn't really get weirded out, and two, she'd been in way too many weird situations already. I mean, after you've gone through the Fairy Tail experience, there isn't much you're surprised by. It was such a diverse guild that anything could happen. In fact, she doubted she would be very surprised if the woman started doing the chicken dance and the ball of light turned into a giant monster that started attacking them. Nothing unusual in Fairy Tail at least.

"Well, from what I can tell with my current abilities, this ball of light has little to no emotions. It seems to be impatient, and I feel like it wants us to do something. I believe we were summoned by this, and I'm guessing it has a master controlling it, likely on Kyoka. Perhaps we are supposed to go meet it? I don't know. Why did it choose us? Are there any more people? I'm not sure either. Ah, by the way, I suppose we should introduce ourselves," Sorano would say in a cold, calm voice, then extended a hand to shake. "My name is Sorano Granon, and I'm a mage in the guild of Fairy Tail, as is Hoshi who is my exceed companion. May I inquire as to who you identify as?"

Suddenly, the ball if light made an irregular jerking motion, and flew towards the portal leading to Kyoka. Alarmed, Sorano and Hoshi would turn towards it, only to see it bobbing up and down impatiently, just barely inside. It was obvious it wanted them to follow it. Tilting her head in interest, the letter mage wondered if it would respond if she asked it a question. Where did it want them to go? What were they to do? She would probably be fine with most things it would have them do, but it was good to be cautious. She glanced back at Nightshade, almost curious as to what she would do. Would she follow? The woman's aura was mostly confused, maybe a little irritated. Who knew?

How very strange, such a flat tone and mannerism about her, it was like there wasn't much to her besides the facts. While Nightshade appreciated people who could handle an order or suggestion without much of a problem, she at least enjoyed teasing them a little bit. Didn't seem like it would be the case with this one a shame, it was so much fun when others seemed to get a little snippy at her little comments, perhaps later on they might cave a bit to let a jab slip through, all in good jest, of course, being too harsh kept them away and that meant no fun at all. Would it be surprising to say that Nightshade didn't have many actual friends after those little thoughts? I thought not.

"Hmm, I am a bit hurt that you have to ask who I am. My name is Nightshade the, apparently not, world famous fashion designer. I suppose I should really try to extend my line in Fiore more, but one step at a time I suppose. Oh, and I have joined up with Infinity Hydra to attempt to improve my own little magic tricks, thread magic to be needle point about it, helps with the whole fashion designer job and all that."

Nightshade proclaimed with a bit of a swagger about her voice, it wasn't too arrogant, more of a proud tone. Such accomplishments were due to her determination rather than purely natural talent, even if Nightshade was pretty perfect in some areas, at least according to her. Some say that an ego could come back to bite one, but according to Nightshade that only applies to those who aren't her, such talent couldn't be bound by simple restrictions, she needed to see the world and conquer it, show all that she was the absolute best at her craft. Speaking of seeing the world...

The little spirit seemed to get impatient in the extreme, it was true this was almost like a job wasn't it, but if this was almost like a job then didn't that mean Nightshade would be getting paid? She didn't do anything if she wasn't getting paid, never work for free and all that. Maybe the spirit could pay her in jewels, or other currency besides just knowledge, which was the cop out of payment. Perhaps she shouldn't actually do this "job", and should instead just walk away. If Nightshade did that though she would be leaving a little girl and her cat to handle whatever else was on the other side of that portal... well she wasn't too fond of kids, but she didn't seem like a bad kid, and Nightshade was curious as to what the spirit wanted in the first place, yeah she should stay and "help" for now, even if it was just due to her own curiosity.

"Well, I have to say that it chose me due to how important I am, and if it chose you as well, then I suppose you share a certain level of that importance; then again, perhaps you are hiding abilities that make you incredibly powerful and it sensed them so it came looking for you, who can really say hmm? Regardless we should get moving, the adventure won't wait for us forever."

It was both her prodding a bit of fun, and being inquisitive of Sorano. One couldn't be too cautious now and again, especially if they were bound for another world with another person. Regardless Nightshade would head towards the portal in order to advance through it and proceed on with the journey, though she would be cautious until Sorano took a bit more of a lead into the situation, as there was no need to advance carelessly. She wouldn't be passive forever, however, eventually, Nightshade would make her play to find out the real reason for being here, be it one way or another. If she pulled it off like she always did, her plans and intelligence gathering would go along flawlessly, and only a few would end up hurt.

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
From what Sorano had gathered so far, she decided that Nightshade was a person she might want to keep her guard up around. Despite being with a fellow legal mage which she had learned from the woman's brief introduction, Sorano wasn't one to easily trust. From her physique, she would almost certainly beat the letter mage in a physical fight. Though she stayed fit and exercised more than the average person, Sorano's physical strength was still nowhere near most mages'. She constantly had to make up for it with magic and intellect, along with teammates, which made things rather irritable. Even now, if she had been alone without Hoshi, she would have felt much more exposed.

A fashion designer, huh? It wasn't too hard to imagine, she supposed. The woman's clothes were honestly more of a mercenary's style, but who knew? No one was completely like how they looked on the outside, after all. "A fashion designer... well, I shop at mostly secondhand shops, so I suppose I wouldn't have heard of you..." the letter mage said slowly. Being someone who spent just about half their life with their nose in a book, sue barely had any fashion sense and generally wore whatever her teammates might suggest to her. Despite her rough style, even Hana, along with Chloe seemed to have a better eye for this sort of stuff, it seemed.

She had also learned that the woman used thread magic, something to keep in mind just in case she turned hostile. Her gaze slipping into that field of aural energy around people, she caught pride flickering around Nightshade briefly before she lifted her gaze again. She obviously wasn't much of an introvert, and wasn't too afraid to share her opinions bluntly. Sorano could deal with that perfectly fine. However, one thing that confused the letter mage and exceed alike was why exactly this little orb had chosen a fashion designer and a barely teenage girl for this task. It was an extremely random selection, was that the point?

Quite honestly, the letter mage had no real need to receive money from the job. Money definitely made everything easier, but she knew that her letter magic could always produce everything and anything she would ever need. Almost. Some projects would most definitely drain her of a dangerous amount of energy, but in theory, she could create anything she wished. Then, there was the kuudere's own thirst for knowledge. Having been an avid student for her entire life before magehood, the girl spent her life now working jobs and learning as !much as possible. The natural curiosity that drew mages of Fairy Tail together only increases her drive for learning.

Raising her eyebrows at the questions she was asked, Sorano could feel Nightshade trying to pull information out of her. Well, at least she underestimated Hoshi like most other mages due to the exceed's tiny size and magical aura that blended in so well with the planet it was almost nonexistent to a mage's sixth sense. Glancing back towards the thread mage, Sorano said sarcastically, with a cryptic edge, "Ah, yes, the lavender definitely smells good at this time of the year, hm? I suppose this little orb knows it as well." If Nightshade was going to hide her motives, she would gladly do so as well.

"Ehm, Sorano, we should probably get after the orb..." Hoshi stuttered in an almost nonexistent voice. Nodding briskly, the letter mage proceeded to leap through the portal, appearing in the world on the other side. Immediately, her magical power shot up, causing both to emit a gasp of surprise at the sudden boost. What was this place?

Second-hand shops, what a shame, such clothing was certainly wearable, but not anything special to make a girl feel, well special. Such a shame that much of her wardrobe was thus not up to par with many, perhaps later if she proved extra useful Nightshade might grace her with a couple of her designs, only if she was still in the correct mood of course. Said mood would depend on whether or not this spirit was of the traitorous kind or the honest kind, one didn't just randomly ask for help from two very different people after all, and that meant the spirit could realistically be anything, at least to Nightshades concerned mind. Still, the chance to explore another planet and have a mini vacation if all went well, was very tempting, so she was a bit more selfish right now than selfless. Stepping through the portal, the jump in magical power wasn't any special to her, but it certainly was nice to experience, so the gimmick of this planet wasn't a joke, power levels really did rise tremendously.

The landscape was filled with a freshness unlike Earthland, and one could feel that being here might truly improve their standing within the wizarding world. Sadly, such standing would probably become artificial as soon as they left the land, as they would merely have a more "mundane" level of power. Regardless the lush landscapes and the flickering magical pulses within the sky were pretty and peaceful. What was the purpose then of the spirit bringing them here, it was still a mystery, that was until the landscape stopped being so peaceful all of a sudden, there was a strong killing intent that flowed into the area. They must have already been enemies nearby, was it due to the spirit, were they waiting as soon as they crossed the border. if so, clever on them, but Nightshade didn't feel like losing just as her vacation had begun. pressing her hands together, with the thumb sides meeting, she stretched them out and created a sword out of strings. She could have done more, but honestly, she was just thinking like this as a sport.

"Hey, as much as those flowers smelled nice, maybe we should keep a little bit of focus, wouldn't want to have this little adventure cut short now would we? I believe that there are some ruffians about, ready yourself."

Task number one: observe your environment. Steps for entering any potentially dangerous area given to Sorano by her first mentor flickered through the letter mage's head. Calm and calculating brown eyes flickered across the landscape, taking in the extraordinary sights. Plants and animals seemed to flourish here, as if the magical boost was affecting them as well. Sorano felt as if she had more energy than ever, as if she could run a mile without breaking into a sweat. It was simply amazing. Hoshi, for the first time in a very long time had a broad smile on, and wasn't shivering from fear of something. It seemed as if the magic boost would bring her connection to nature even closer than before, calming the usually terrified creature.

Suddenly, Sorano felt something extremely out of place in the lovely landscape, something that caused her to shudder a bit. Such a malicious presence could be felt now, piercing through all the positivity that had existed in the group before. Hoshi's smile promptly disappeared and she dug her claws into the ground nervously. The letter mage's muscles tensed, preparing for something she didn't recognize yet. Could this be what they had been sent here for? Was there something to do here that only this interesting little group could do? Or... her eyes shot to the orb. Could it have led them into a trap? But why would it want them trapped? She wasn't an especially outstanding mage after all, with a very plain magic and mediocre physical strengths at best. Perhaps Nightshade was valuable in some way, but unless there was some secret ability of she had, Sorano doubted there was any reason to trap her.

Still, she was near confident that there was going to be some fight ahead. Nightshade had obviously sensed this as well, a sword forming out of threads in her hand. Sorano's own hand would slowly reach to her bag she wore, slipping loose one of her throwing knives. Twirling it quickly in her hand to get used to it, her eyes scanned the area carefully, trying to catch any sign of movement. Suddenly, an aura flickered at the edge of her vision, and Kagayaku was released from her hand in one practiced movement. A teenaged girl, looking around sixteen years in age dodged it last second, blinking in surprise as the knife flew by her head. "Kenta! We've been spotted!" she snapped at another figure hiding in the foliage. Another person peeked out, a teenage boy of around the same age. Both sported blood red cloaks, and radiated a magical signature.

The two quickly rose up, beginning their attack on our protagonists here. Seeming to be a little less bold than his partner, the boy immediately targeted the weaker-looking opponent. The girl would move to fight Nightshade, focused and ready to fight. Sorano looked the boy up and down briefly, making a brief assessment of her opponent. Her expression was utterly emotionless, and cold seemed to radiate off of her in all directions. Deciding to make the first move, the boy lunged forward, fire shooting from his hand. "Single flame!" he yelled as he did so. So he had to speak to cast a spell? Hm, interesting... seeing as it was only one fireball, Sorano easily dodged it, diving to the ground. It would appear as though this Kenta boy was trying to test her, see how she reacted. Now that he knew she wasn't too slow an opponent, she knew he would probably try to get her to use her magic.

Just like the amateurs that they probably were, one of them yelled the others name and ordered an attack. A man and a woman, they were probably just underlings, but Nightshade couldn't help but laugh a little on the inside, especially if they had really just been doing naughty things instead of a proper lookout. They rushed out towards Sorano and Nightshade, and while the effort and style seemed there, the form was a bit weak, they were nervous or rather inexperienced, they had probably been training here rather than on another planet, one which had less of a magical concentration. Nightshade could be wrong, but this is Nightshade we are talking about, she wasn't ever wrong about anything, even when she was, yes that makes sense in some reality at least.

This girl, though, her outfit, a red cloak, was that just a coincidence or was it perhaps some kind of cults outfit? Nightshade was very excited to find out. As the girl rushed towards her, Nightshade flicked her sword out in front of her and gave a bit of a grin towards her newfound opponent. The girls in the red cloak rushed with fire gathering within her hands, throwing a bolt of fire towards Nightshade, only for Nightshade to dodge to the left. Sadly the opponent wasn't as dumb as Nightshade had originally predicted, and with a flick of her wrist launched a small bolt of energy in the direction Nightshade was dodging too and a fire stream erupted from the ground ad Nightshade made contact with it. The fire was intense and charred the grounds surface, surely killing Nightshade outright if all had gone according to plan.

As the girl skid across the surface of the ground to slow her momentum, she let out a sigh of relief, all of her training had paid off, now all she had to do was deal with the other mage that was fighting against her companion. Turning to try and get a read on their fight, she barely reacted to the sword slamming downwards upon her. Surely killing her if she hadn't dodged out of the way. Turning to face the one she had tried to burn, the girl's eyes widened at the sight. Nightshade's body was indeed burned, but it was being layered over by threads and reformed. Tattered and charred clothing was being made new, and broken skin was being reformed.

"Hey that was some good awareness there, if you haven't moved I don't know what might have happened to you."

"What in the world are you!?"

"Now, now you should know better than to ask such things, after all, a great magician never reveals her tricks right? For instance, did you know you have something on that slightly tacky cloak of yours? Could it be one of my threads?"

Looking down to try and spot what Nightshade was talking about, the poor girl didn't have much time to feel her clothing restrict and tighten upon her to the point where she was made immobile. Lifted up slightly into the air, Nightshade made sure that the girls fingers couldn't move by weaving some threads around them.

"I Must admit, you have good control over fire, but if I had to say one thing, is it is your lack of ability to create it. Hand movements twice for two different spells, I'm afraid you are quite the naughty girl, giving away what you required to cast right off the bat. Now just sit tight and let's wait for your friend and my newfound companion to finish their bout before we get to the questions, alright?"

Looking over towards Sorano and this Kenta kids fight, Nightshade waited in eager anticipation for it to finish, or would find a smile on her face if it finished just then or a bit before, or after but that was a given no?

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
Sorano's greatest advantages, she knew, were probably her completely emotionless personality that allowed her to make clear and sensible choices, as well as her appearance. Seeing as she was considered very young in the world of magic, she was often underestimated. Her gaze quickly ran him up and down, observing his physique, whether he favored a side, or had a spot he didn't seem to notice as much. Just about every opponent she fought had some flaw in their defense and offense. Aha...

Brown eyes focused in on how he had almost all his concentration on her hands. A smart move for him in a way, as letter mages mostly utilized their hands. Sorano could use other limbs if she wished, but it made it more difficult to direct the spell properly. Instead, one hand behind her back made the signal for Hoshi to attack him from the back. The exceed, being small, shot into the air a second after Sorano raised her hand, as if preparing to cast a spell. As expected, the boy instinctively moved to counterattack or protect himself, not noticing the small exceed zooming overhead. Sorano them jabbed her hand towards the upper front part of his body, causing him to center in his defense there, when Hoshi struck. Letting out a caterwaul of fear or courage(either would work in Hoshi's situation), the exceed dropped onto his head.

"Ga-ah!" he yelped in surprise, reaching up and keeping his front undefended. Sorano sighed slightly. This guy wasn't very well-groomed, it seemed, as he did everything according to instinct. "Solid Script: Fire," she muttered under her breath, then "Solid Script: Water." The misty forms of the dormant spells were melded together with her hands, molded into the word 'boil'. She released the spell, watching as the steam shot out all around it, shooting the ball, enveloped with steam towards the unprotected teen. It wasn't a very typical spell she started with, but was logical in this situation where her opponent was a fire magic user. As he had been too distracted by Hoshi who barely managed to get away, he hadn't noticed how her magic worked, either. Nice.

However, he recovered quickly, suddenly forming a shield of flames around him, protecting him from another surprise attack like that. Another annoyance she had to take care of. Not having a body-repairing ability like Nightshade did, she would have to protect herself from his attacks. She wouldn't kill, but he could. That gave her a disadvantage in not being able to go all out. Then again, she had one specialty that would allow her to fulfill both parts. As her gaze slid over his aura, she quickly gestured Hoshi over. The exceed's fear was perfect for this one little thing. Placing Hoshi's paw on her shield, Sorano watched carefully as the aura slowly filled with the artificial fear that was caused by Luna. Though people around her would feel the fear as well, Nightshade and the girl's battle was happening too far to the edge of Luna's range to feel much.

His eyes widened, and his shield faltered. Sorano quickly moved up towards him, putting on speed as she neared. She wasn't sure how he would react to the fear, but in this stage, he seemed weak enough to quickly break the shield and hit a pressure point. However, as she neared, he seemed to shake off the fear a bit, a sudden burst of flames shooting towards her that she barely dodged, diving to the ground. A bit of flames till scorched her skin, and she got her teeth in pain. Shooting back up, she let her fingers flash out a word, seeing her opponent's eyes light up as he realized what her magic was. But it had come too late to notice that she had spelled out the word 'lightning'. The bolt crashed down on top of him, impacting anyone within 5 feet of it as well besides the caster. Just as it hit, his shield buckled under the weight, disappearing briefly as Sorano lunged inside, jabbing at a pressure point. A second later, he sank to the ground, unconscious.

Sorano was breathing hard, having to keep her usual iron will over her instincts to just sink down to the ground in relief and exhaustion. After all, she had a physique only slightly better than a normal girl her age. She breathed out slowly, doing a short meditative exercise to calm her breathing. Noticing that Nightshade had defeated the girl as well, she walked over to the older woman. "Their cloaks remind me of a cult or something, as red isn't a typical cloak color," she commented.

"Bingo, that was exactly what I was thinking!"

Nightshade exclaimed towards both Sorano and the other girl she had captured. While she would have commented on how tired Sorano seemed, Nightshade didn't wish to insult her, there was a fine difference between asking how one was doing, and damaging one's pride, and while she didn't show it, she must have had some if she was this tired after fighting a battle. Sorano according to Nightshades intuition, which was never wrong, showed that she wasn't weak, so the guy was either tough, judging by the small light show, or she was holding back, and thus why it was harder. Naturally the only time Nightshade held back was to get a bit of satisfaction of a battle from her opponents, though she wouldn't lie, it wasn't always easy keeping all of her abilities under wraps, as she would often have to be incredibly creative to overcome self-imposed limitations, which Sorano might be doing as well.

Looking towards the girl whom she had captured, Nightshade would once again pen her mouth, probably to others detriment.

"So then my little sparrow, what cult or group are you a part of and why has the spirit decided to seek us out?"

"You really think I'm just going to start talking?"

"Well you talked just now right? Shouldn't be too hard to continue. Come on give us the name, location, next bake sale date, to the cult or whatever you are a part of and it will all good! I'll even let you go, sounds great right?"

Giving a fateful smile towards her, the girl just gave a determined, and stern expression back, not willing to budge despite Nightshade's best little persuasion attempts, which was very disheartening. Nightshade went out of her way to be kind, and this was how she was being treated, well this wouldn't do. Perhaps she would have to resort to slightly more elaborate methods of persuasion for this little girl. She didn't wish to make Sorano offended, but there might end up being a bit of blood spilled over this little debate.

Before Nightshade could get the debate started underway proper, there was a sudden interruption in the form of a more massive fireball heading straight towards her and Sorano's location. Normally Nightshade would simply dodge out of the way or attempt to impressive and intimidate the opponent with her abilities, but she A. figured whoever was attacking had already seen her abilities, and B. she didn't wish to leave Sorano possibly taking a hit, that was quite rude, so instead Nightshade did the most logical thing she could.

Throwing with her threads the hostage in front of the attack, the fireball quickly veered away from our heroes (well one hero and an egomaniac's) location. Crashing off to the side the flames heat could be felt even from where they were standing, and with a bit of a grin forming on Nightshade's face once more, she bopped the hostage on the head to knock her out for a bit and looked towards Sorano.

"I wasn't going to ask before, as it would seem awfully rude, but are you okay to fight? whoever just attacked us seems more advanced and able to manipulate their element to a degree, that and would you like an outfit, I promise my threads are both fashionable and durable."

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
Sorano nodded slowly, finally having her breathing completely under control. There was one small thing that Nightshade had wrong, but it made sense seeing as Sorano didn't usually just up and tell someone that she was emotionless. As this was so, Sorano possessed no pride. However, in the rules she had created to follow so she wouldn't become someone who seemed completely indifferent to the world, she had included rules that went somewhere along the lines of 'pride'. It was a pretty confusing life she lived, but the rules were easy enough to enforce usually. Sorano was, however, holding back a little. Having seen from the boy's fighting, he wasn't quite as experienced as some other opponents she had gone up against. Seeing this, she had decided to conserve magical energy and wait for any tougher enemies to come out. She did, after all, have a few powerful tricks up her sleeve.

Listening to the very brief attempted questioning session, Sorano opened her mouth, about to suggest using her own abilities to persuade the girl. Being a letter mage, she had great power over words and persuasion with them. Besides, she wasn't sure how her guildmates and master would react to having heard that she let a job partner torture someone for information without asking. Just as she was about to break in, a sudden force shot at her from the front. She immediately hit the ground, rolling away as she had trained so many times before. Luckily, it never did hit, having been deflected by a shield the thread mage had created.

Slowly standing back up, Sorano's senses were on high alert. Calmly ignoring the sound of Hoshi's teeth chattering in fear, she looked around the area, switching to aural vision every now and then. Nothing in her aural vision, but something was obviously there. Either it wasn't a living thing, or it had a powerful aural shield. She patted Hoshi gently, explaining that the exceed's animal senses might be needed. The feline trembled in fear, but agreed, lifting her nose to the air and pricking her ears. "I-I smell fire..." she whispered softly, looking back at Sorano. The girl wrinkled her brow, then nodded, glancing up as she heard the thread mage's voice.

"Ah, no, it's not at all rude," Now, even if Sorano had rules to take the guise of someone with extremely subtle emotions, she would never refuse help. After all, what was the sense in not taking any? It was stupid! But then, could she trust Nightshade? Her aura didn't show the usual slight tinge of emotion that came with lying, but Nightshade seemed like she was the type who could lie skillfully and smoothly. Finally coming to a decision, she nodded slowly. "I can fight, but that would help quite a bit. Thank you."

Glancing back over, she then too began to smell the slight smell of burning. Turning to Nightshade, she told the thread mage what she knew right now. "Whatever thing hurled the fireball, it either didn't living or is extremely good at hiding itself. It seems to be burning other things as well, causing that smell. It may be a golem of sorts, but seems more elemental."

"Perfect, your petite figure and monotone expression state that you need something a little showy in order to grab a bit of attention. Nothing shameless, but something that makes you look confident but at the same time feminine."

Now the tone of Nightshade had shifted, the battle wasn't the most important part, but giving Sorano a nice outfit that would, of course, protect her, but at the same time would make her look quite nice. She could do many different styles, but the girls more modest clothing spoke of her reversed attitude. The main problem was how plain looking they were, which was a massive problem if one wanted to show their natural beauty, being plain was for around the house, not out and about! Perfect, Erika knew what she would do. Sadly Nightshade couldn't make the outfit a tight fit as it would have to go over her clothing, as she didn't wish to manipulate her outfit out of some respect for Sorano, who seemed competent and more importantly wasn't an egomaniac, Nightshade hated those types of people.

Thrusting her hand into the air, Nightshade would keep one eye on her craft and another one on any potential attacks directed against them, She didn't wish to get ambushed while making a lovely outfit after all. Around Sorano Nightshade's threads would manifest and begin to weave themselves into an outfit. The color of the threads shifted from the normal soft gray that was barely noticeable into a subtle black shade, it wasn't quite pitch black, but it was soft and could match Sorano's hair color well enough, but wouldn't compete with it. She had what looked like a black headband on, and her hair was colored with some blue and white streaks, which meant that is what the accessories would look like. Small bow's at the base of the dress she was forming weaved into various dark blue hue's, with some frills appearing in a pearl white. If one could easily evaluate the dress that was being made, it was a knee length, gothic lolita kind of outfit, but not in the extreme, several bows dotted the lower portion of the dress, and upon the short sleeves for the arms but nothing extreme. It was simply, but elegant, and should suit Sorano well in both protection, and fashion.

"There, now if the thing is a golem that isn't living, my magic will have some trouble with it, normally I can just pick on those wearing clothing or who are more solid in nature, but if it's an element then well, you have some tricks to blast them right?"

Giving her a bit of a knowing Smile, Nightshade would immediately attempt to continue her thought.

"I'll attempt to locate it for you to assault it, that outfit should keep you safe from a few shots, so feel free to take some risks. Alright, let's find this guy."

Stamping her shoe into the ground, Nightshade attempted to make a bit of a show out of her ability to transform the entire landscape into threads, sadly there was naught but the sound of a tumbleweed passing by on the wind. After the minor failure, it hit her, oh right this entire planet must be rich in magic, and she can't easily affect that which has magic in it... of course, naturally it wouldn't work then, hmm... time for a new idea.

"Uh... ignore that, time for plan B."

Manifesting what appeared to be a man-portable catapult into her hands out of threads, Nightshade would look up towards the sky and launched a small thread 'bomb" into the air, which exploded outwards into a myriad of threads floating in the air, to act as a network to try and locate it. Searching, she spotted it, quite a ways away and hiding between two tree's, or rather they would be tree's if they weren't starting to burn and char. A fireball flying towards the group, only this time Nightshade knew it was coming from a greater distance, and throwing out another, thread shield  from her palm she blocked it, and looked towards Sorano.

"Right in front of us, it's relocating to the right, attempting to move between the various natural features. Strike now while it is unaware of your movements, or at least has the lowest chance of success for a strike. Good luck."

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
Blinking in slight confusion at Nightshade's thinking aloud, Sorano would cautiously stand there as the woman's gaze moved quickly over her, trying to figure out what would look best. It would appear as though the woman was equally, if not more concerned about how well this clothing would work on her than how well it would protect her. Being emotionless, Sorano was extremely logical and found no logic in this but decided not to say anything. Many things she said had unexpectedly caused violent, sad, or angry results in people which she didn't understand. No, couldn't understand. Now, she would awkwardly stand as Nightshade raised a hand into the air to begin making the clothing.

To her slight relief, Sorano noticed how Nightshade seemed to be equally focused on making sure they weren't ambushed, as well as creating the outfit. However, just to be on the safe side, Sorano let a mirror form on her fingertips. She was used to working by herself, after all. Slowly, a soft tickling sensation was felt ay her side, causing Sorano to glance down and notice threads weaving themselves together into a dress over her current, rather plain one. The gray strands would slowly dye themselves a nice shade of black, tightening slightly so it fit comfortably. The majority of the dress was of that color, matching her dark hair. Then, small bows and ribbons began to adorn themselves on the dress, switching to colors that matched the unusual streaks in her hair very nicely. Tilting her head at the end result, Sorano almost found it amusing. Normally she wouldn't wear something quite like this, with the slightly poofed out sleeves and many ribbons. Not the most practical, but she supposed it would work well enough.

Listening to Nightshade's comment, the letter mage would frown slightly. Without Nightshade's direct help, it would be a bit more difficult. However, she knew that if she put her raining water spell in the back while she attacked this fire golem or elemental, it would be make things a million times easier to take care of. As the last threads swirled into place, weaving a white frill at the bottom of her skirt, her gaze now focused on her surroundings, Sorano barely noticed as Nightshade failed her first attempt at revealing the golem, then proceeded to send threads into the air to find it. After hearing the location, Sorano ran over Nightshade's plan in her head, until she felt it was good enough for now.

She peers in the direction the creature was, hands ready to unleash a chain of attacks to fell it. A fireball burst out, neatly blocked by the woman, protecting the letter mage. "Solid Script: Water!" She would call out, releasing the group I'd watery bullets that would suddenly rain done on the atronoch. During it's brief moment of confusion, she snapped out her hand with the mirror, the silvery surface suddenly growing and shattering, all ten shards flying at the elemental creature. Roaring in rage and confusion, the figure made of pure fire leapt forward, boosted by the power Kyoka fed it's inhabitants. The consistent rain definitely helped, but more would be needed. If Nightshade couldn't be of much help here, what else could she do? Not boil... storm, perhaps? Taking the chance, she cast the spell, sudden whirls of rainwater and wind wrapping around the elemental creature, sweeping up debris all around it. Before long, the atronoch was wrapped in a mini hurricane.

"It's an atronoch...A bit like a cross between elemental and golem," Sorano said softly while Hoshi did her best to regain some form of calm.

Nightshade didn't mind rainy days, it meant that she could normally be quite lazy. Right now however she couldn't be that lazy, she had to make sure that everyone was okay, even if she was pretty useless right now due to the terrain, and magic density, that and she wasn't all that good against those who weren't in some way physical, unless she started fighting with her full capabilities. As the torrent of attacks came flying in from her smaller companion, Nightshade was a little impressed, this was a very earnest display of ability, maybe Sorano was in for a bit of a reward from Nightshade, especially since the rain and the hurricane surrounding the elemental was probably weakening it. While Nightshade didn't know if it was fully directed at her, Sorano's words about it being a bit solid sparked ideas within Nightshade. Now she didn't have to give away anything new and could still give her a bit of a reward for her earnest work.

"Well, if it's got some solid parts I think I could attempt to give it a whooping, that hurricane is a little bit in the way, though, but no matter."

The threads which were already in the air from the previous strike attempted to dive down into the upper eye of the hurricane. Now normally Nightshade would have a difficult challenge ahead of herself in landing this strike, but due to also being physical now, and with the addition of the rain falling upon her threads, it would be quite a nice little blow. Inside the creature was struggling to stay on the ground and being lashed from all side, it was perfectly distracted, Sorano had done a great job in dealing with this thing. As the threads wove their way down the storm, some of them were confused off of their course, but enough made it in to begin the assault.

Wrapping around the atronoch with a swift fury, the fire-ridden monster's attempts to unbind itself became weaker by the second as the threads began to constrict down upon it, thrashing it into the sides of the hurricane, causing it, what could only be assumed to be some kind of pain. It wasn't nearly enough, though, again and again, Nightshade had the threads thrash the being against the edge of the hurricane, till eventually the creature was "weak" enough to reach and toss it out of the top, hurling in front 9of the dynamic duo of Nightshade and Sorano.

    "You have the honors."

Nightshade stated as she winked towards Sorano, the creature wasn't down or out by a long shot, but it didn't matter Sorano could handle it, what did matter was trying to figure out where they would have to go next. Looking around Nightshade attempted to locate the little spirit, but it wasn't here anymore, had it slipped off while Nightshade was enjoying herself? What a naughty little thing. After Sorano would finish off the being in front of her, Nightshade would mention it.

"So, it seems the little spirit deserted us, I suppose we had best go and look for the little guy, if we want to solve this mystery."

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
Sensing Nightshade's movement, Sorano glanced over, keeping one eye on the spells clashing against the atronoch before her. Unfortunately, she couldn't do anything about the hurricane besides cancelling the spell, but the woman didn't seem to need it particularly. Threads shot out of over the mass of fire, water, and wind, diving through the eye of the hurricane in one dramatic movement. The distracted creature was certainly hit hard by this attack, writhing about in that nest of random spells shoved against each other. The letter mage was a bit alarmed when some of the threads were sent flying by the force of her miniature hurricane, things seemed to turn out okay.

The threads would tighten on the monster, constricting it's movements easily. Anyone who saw this, Sorano would think, would never see fabric and thread quite the same way ever again. Evidently Hoshi felt the same way as well, being now curled up to the side, scooching as far away from Nightshade as she could. She couldn't help it, it was simply a part of her instinct. Nightshade's threads would slam the monster against the edges of the hurricane in rapid movements, slowly weakening it with Sorano's concentration moving the spells into strategic positions to deal the most damage. Finally, the thread mage would neatly toss it out the top, the elemental creature landing hard outside of the hurricane.

"You have the honors," was heard from Nightshade, and the letter mage would comply. Though it wasn't quite weak enough to put out with any simple little attack, the atronoch was plenty weak enough for her to defeat easily. Besides, Nightshade's strength may be required elsewhere on more human enemies than this. Her magic was better for elemental creatures. Lifting a hand, she wrote out a very simple spell, likely the first attack spell she had learned, letting it grow slowly to the correct size. Suddenly, with a snap and twist of her wrist, word burst to life, slight runaway buts of the breeze licking against the edge of her hand. Flicking her wrist as she might in a game of badminton, Sorano loosed the spell, swiftly guiding her other two spells with it to land a quick final attack on the atronoch, leaving it defeated.

Looking up, she would notice than Nightshade was trying to find that curious little orb of light again. It had evidently left them, seeing as Sorano could not locate even a shadow of its aura in the area. "That would be the best course of action," came the letter mage's response, beckoning Hoshi over. As they would move onwards, both faeries would keep their eyes open for any sign of enemies or the orb. However, the powerful magical presence often interfered, being of constant annoyance to them both. It would be hard to re adapt to the world without such a burst again. It felt almost impossibly wonderful, fighting with so much power.

Suddenly pausing, Sorano would pivot around on one foot, catching a faint glimmer of light. "I think I see it!" she said calmly, breaking into a run towards it. She would glance down at the clothing Nightshade had created for her, marvelling at how odd they felt especially when moving. She decided that if she could choose, he typical clothing would probably be more likely to win. The light ahead would Bob erratically, occasionally disappearing behind a tree, rock, or some other structure that obstructed their view. see it!" she said calmly, breaking into a run towards it. It was a pretty good display from the younger mage, or at least Nightshade assumed that she was younger, again one could never quite tell in this day and age, that and magic did many strange things. Regardless, this was going swimmingly for the most part if you didn't count the little spirit getting lost in all of this mess. Why would the thing run away if it was trying to get help in the first place? Was it scared, or was it after something else. Nightshade didn't believe anything the spirit had said, the blasted thing was probably after someone or something else's life or treasure, or a different form of revenge, possibly even against the two of them. Nightshade didn't lie, if this thing was going to try and hurt Sorano in some way she would do her best to protect her, the other reason she had gifted her with an outfit, just in case things got too bad. While normally Nightshade wouldn't care about those working with her, Sorano had proved useful, took directions well, and was adorable. These were all very important qualities, especially the last one, since for a fashion designer not being able to be a model via being handsome, adorable, beautiful, pretty, rugged, etc. was just useless.

Following behind Sorano as she gave a bit of a chase, Nightshade made sure that she didn't fall too behind. Naturally, she detested running, it was an annoyance in the extreme, others should simply just wait for her, and included the little pesky spirit as it was dashing off. Nightshade though, despite her resentment of running didn't want to deal with this anymore, and so instead of a run, she leapt into a full sprint towards the little spirit jerk.

    "Yeah I see it."

It was incredibly annoying right now to have to work so hard, but she, against, detested being betrayed, and having to run, honestly now she just wanted to strangle the spirit. She didn't know if it was possible, but she would find a way dang it. Zooming past the scenery, the extra magical power really helped her to move faster, that and she might have shapeshifted her legs to be a bit more toned right now as to make the fastest rush possible. Darting through the forested landscape, it almost looked like she was from some kind of ninja show, if you could believe it.

As the little spirit panicked and dove over a bit of a cliff, nightshade burst out from the tree covers and grasped it's tiny body with her hands.

    "GOT YOU!"

Falling straight down a small canyon, Nightshade let out a loud oof as she hit the bottom of it, she wasn't broken at all, her body made out of the threads was too durable for that, but it still did sting from a reeling perspective. Oh well if that was all the pain she would suffer then it would be fine. Holding up her prize, she smiled, only to hear the rustling of robes and other horrors. She took a moment to glance and noticed that the spirit had inadvertently directed her into the midst of a horde of bad guys.

"Well, how are you fine gentlemen, ladies, and creatures, doing today? Just thought I would uh, drop by!"

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
Though Nightshade hadn't been running too fast at first, she was definitely moving now. Sorano narrowed her eyes in determination to keep up as the older figure sprinted forward, a sudden speed in her step. It was always an annoyance to the letter mage, as she was bested over and over again physically. However, she did notice how the woman's aura was tinged with great annoyance, and she realized she had never seen the woman show any emotion that would show she ever regretted much of anything. It was almost as if she had an endless supply of self-esteem. Odd. Now, it was lucky Sorano could t hear Nightshade's reasons for taking on, seeing as how much she disliked being judged for her appearance or age. If the had been voiced, there was a chance Sorano would have spent the rest of the job completely silent. And trust me... she could get surprisingly creepy for a kid when she was silent.

The light didn't help either, flickering in and out of Sorano's vision every few moments and only proceeding to infuriate her. However, she decided to reassure herself just a bit at the magical energy she had sighted coursing through Nightshade's legs. It made sense that she wanted to run fast after all, right? Hoshi, the lucky thing, had wings to propel herself forward through the air without much effort, only making the poor letter mage feel even worse. It was very annoying, and someone with emotions might have even stared this.

Suddenly, Sorano's eyes widened at the sight of multiple auras flickering amidst the brightness of magic all around them, and tried to pump her limbs harder and faster to catch up. "Wait, Nightshade-san-ah!" She barely caught herself from tripping over a root, and was forced to slow and catch her breath. By now, the thread mage had already dove into the canyon, and Sorano couldn't do much else. Staying as far away from the auras as possible, she stared downwards as Nightshade triumphantly held up the spirit thing, grinning cheerfully as she caught the attention of some not-so-welcome company.

"Well, how are you fine gentlemen, ladies, and creatures, doing today? Just thought I would uh, drop by!" the faeries heard her say uncomfortably, before a woman dressed in dark red, not unlike the previous two other humans stepped forward. "Stranger! What are you doing here? Are you a friend of ours or not?" she snapped brusquely, peering down her nose at Nightshade as if she were the grandest grand villain of them all. Sorano sighed, figuring these were the enemies they had been sent to fight. Jobs these days were all pretty much in this format. However, before the thread mage could respond, a wolf pushed its way up, sniffing at Nightshade suspiciously. A howl was emitted from her throat, having smelled the fear-scent of its allies. The rest of this assorted group obviously knew what this meant, and began to surround the mage, obviously hostile.

Sorano sighed. What a typical job this was... As a brief distraction for the people down below, she flicked her wrist in one quick movement. A mirror would be formed, shooting down to its position before the leading mage. It should paralyze her for at least a short amount of time, filling her with the fears she held. It wouldn't last, though, she knew, with that amount of power.

"Whoa, whoa, let's all take it easy here. I am actually on a top-secret mission for your boss, who sent me here to recover this little spirit, I'm on your side guy's, just put down the weapons and let's all have a nice chat."

While Nightshade's sentiments were all well and good, apparently there is a little spoilsport in the form of some creature that Nightshade now detested with her entire being. Her entire plan was ruined in half a moment and now she was stuck in the middle of the enemies. She figured that Sorano would have her back, but at the same time, Nightshade didn't want to show off all of her abilities to others, but she was surrounded. Heck Sorano probably already knew she could form her body into threads and certainly knew that she could attack with them, so really it didn't matter in that regard, but Nightshade was mad right now, and that meant she wanted to give these enemies a proper punishment for stopping her flawless plan from becoming reality. She wanted to give them a bit of a time warp jump, possibly a bit of an evisceration, lashings, crucifixion, all of them were within the realm of possibility, but no, she couldn't go that cruel, it simply wasn't in her persona... right now.

Instead, she would opt for the easiest solution. Many of the fighters were distracted by Sorano's little show, which gave Nightshade some nice openings. Really she was being quite helpful, and also kept Nightshade in line a bit out of her modicum of respect for the younger mage. Still, were these the real enemies they had to fight, why was the spirit even here? Maybe the little thing was evil and just trying to work all of them into a giant fuss and at this point, Nightshade began to care less and less about the spirits welfare. Holding the tiny body in her hands, she blasted out a dome around herself out of threads to buy a little bit of time, as she grabbed a few enemies and dragged them into the dome, merely to use an excuse for what was to come.

Squeezing, the spirit using her threads Nightshade gave a bit of a crooked smile.

"I bet you were just trying to lure people here weren't you? How did they know to attack us right out of the gate when this is a possible tourism spot, how come no one else came through, how come you ran all the way here, you might be a spirit, but if I can crush you with magic does that mean you can die? I guess let's find out."

Grasping tighter and tighter, Nightshade watched as the poor little thing kept struggling, and the various members of the cult looked on in shocked horror as she was wounding it, she didn't care about any real solution to the problems now, this thing had come to her in a dream, and now lead her into two traps, guilty or innocent it had insulted her. As it struggled to try and escape, little cracks formed upon it at the pressure points till finally it burst into a small dose of white light, and fluttered upwards. It might not have been killed, but at least it's form was damaged for now. If it was the main cause of all this trouble then it would return and it could be fought properly without the ring around, and if it was innocent, she was still planning to defeat all of these enemies, so it didn't matter, and Sorano didn't seem like the type to care.

Letting her dome fall and the other members of this strange cult fall to the ground Nightshade would attempt to start off her entry into the brawl proper, and this time, she wasn't going to be nearly as "kind" to those attempting to stand against her.

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
One thing that Sorano had learned in her comparably short lifetime to most others of her profession, was that there was always something else you didn't know about a person. No matter how long you've been with someone, or how close you are to them, they will always end up surprising you in one way or the other. Even timid little Hoshi had astounded the  letter mage on several occasions, and there was no end to the clever little tricks her teammates and guildmates could come up with to force her to rethink their personality. Why, her opinion of the rather hyper and far too energetic Julius was almost completely different these days from her former disdainful view. And apparently, things were no different with Ms. Nightshade.

Sorano knew that the woman was no merciful goody good legal mage, of course, but the actions she took showed that she was either more malevolent, or more indifferent to others than the younger mage had previously assumed. As expected, Nightshade quickly took advantage of Sorano's little mirror trick, which though the mage quickly brushed off had left an adequate gap of time and let loose a blast of threads all around her in a dome form. Rage coursed through the woman's aura, not quite as pure and powerful a rage she had seen in her fellow faeries when they got really fired up, but powerful enough. Once again, it was lucky that the letter mage couldn't read minds as well, for her self-set rules forbid killing or serious maiming.

Focusing on the scene before her to wait for the correct moment to join in, Sorano watched as several opponents were tugged in with her and Nightshade snatched up the ball of light. Ah. Based on their circumstances and the tight grip Nightshade had on the spirit-like orb, it was easy to discern that the woman blamed it for their troubles. Thinking back through the events, Sorano knew that Nightshade may be correct in this decision. There were few in her life that the letter mage trusted, after all, and no one here besides Hoshi was included.

Speaking of the exceed, she watched in horror at the chaos erupting around her, unable to take it all in, and once more dove beneath the cover of a bush. However, a stern grip on her tail quickly pulled her back. "Hoshi, your abilities are needed," Sorano spoke sternly, and brought the tabby to her feet. She calmly watched as the warped light burst from Nightshade's hand in a wobbling flow of light, and prepared to enter combat herself.

Aiming for a part of the clearing that Nightshade was furthest from, Sorano relaxed as she fell into her rythym of magic, easily writing out words. A flow of oil dropped to the ground, causing the ground to become an easy surface for one to slip upon. While many elemental's, mages, and wolves were occupied with keeping their balance, Sorano began a speech, or story of sorts, making sure to keep her voice quiet enough so Nightshade wouldn't be influenced by it. The woman seemed strong enough to resist the illusions a letter mage's silver tongue could cause, but who knew?

"Did you know? All your lives, you have been settling on an extremely large wetland. The result of this is occurring right now, as a quicksand pit is opening up right in this clearing, and you are all sinking in it," she improvised. Suddenly, several weaker cult members suddenly began falling to the ground in slow motion, as if sinking in quicksand, and clawing at the sky, wailing to their gods or whatever. Higher level mages began resisting, working to repel the influence of her words. Many now made easy targets for Hoshi to go around, pressing a sheathed paw onto a certain vein and knocking several beings out cold. A daily efficient method, overall, but some were already fighting the power.

Post by Special Snowflake 18th August 2016, 8:43 pm

This entire battle had been completely annoying to Nightshade, and made her wish to return home, this wasn't a vacation but was just a massive waste of time. Lying little spirit had dared to mess with her, and Sorano too, and well, messing with Nightshade meant that you wouldn't just get away without being hurt. Sadly Nightshade to play a bit of a nice guy and not fully "kill" anything that she looked at, nor really inflict that much harm, but if the spirit was already dead then it didn't matter did it? That was Nightshades logic and she was sticking to it since she couldn't be bothered to care anymore, for the most part, she at least wished to look the part of a legal mage or whatever people assumed they were like. When the thread dome came down, however, there weren't all that many enemies left standing, which surprised Nightshade, she didn't think Sorano actually had that in her to finish most of them off like that. It was a bit refreshing as it meant Nightshade didn't have to do much heavy lifting. Basically, Nightshade didn't care with Sorano had done, but that she had done something productive, which was a rare investment for Nightshade who was normally all about gathering information on other people to make the best assessment of them.

Looking on as a few of them resisted, Nightshade decided to just cut the middle man flashy aspect out and manipulated the very threads on their back crushing parts of them till they passed out. There wouldn't be any permanent damage but... she also didn't hold back so they would be out of it for a while. About to try and crawl out of the pit she was sort of stuck in, Nightshade sighed a bit, this was a complete waste of time or...

    Was it?

A bright flash of light enveloped the little crater, and what appeared to be a giant version of the tiny spirit appeared within the valley, or at least what Nightshade assumed to be the spirit, she was a little bit mad right now and could only really see red when it came to that thing.

"I see the both of you defeated those who attempted to take over this world with their cult."

"No, nope, nada, stop right THERE!"

"But, I was just going to say I am glad that I called for the two of you to aid me?"

"Yeah, yeah I get it, we came and helped you, but there is just ONE question on my mind, how come all of the enemies knew where we were, oh and how come you ran from us straight towards the enemy, it's almost like you knew."

"Well obviously I knew that the enemy was going to try and attack you there it is why I lead you to them first, in order for you to get the ambush!"

"Right, then why on earth would you possibly show yourself now, it serves you no purpose other than to just gloat."

"Well I wanted to congratulate the both of you!"

"With that energy attack you are charging behind your back right?"

The strange light seemed to spasm at the fact of Nightshade calling it out on its little charging, and with a forward momentum thrust the attack towards Nightshade; sadly for it, the threads that Nightshade oh so loved flew out and to block the incoming attack, though she had to expend far more than she had originally intended.

"Hey Sorano, you up for killing this thing? I'm getting tired of being lead around by the necktie."

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
Sorano would continue to ramble on for a bit, having to think a bit to come up with enough random doomsday-sounding material to keep them down. "Ah, bombs are dropping everywhere, and your legs are weighed down by weights! Um, you've broken every bone it your body, and, well, you're trapped in a block of jello?" As Hoshi rushed around frantically, trying to knock as many out as possible, relief was evident in both the girl and exceed's faces as Nightshade decided to join in on the fun and apparently knocked the resisting cult members out by using their own clothes. Sorano now was realizing what great damage threads could do to a person, and was coming to respect that lowly material that everyone seemed to take for granted. Perhaps she'd have to find a way to protect herself from her own clothes in the future? Who knew?

However glancing over at the older mage, both faeries could immediately tell that she was far from happy. Besides the fact that her aura seemed to be boiling in rage, blotting out the usual emotions of a person, a sort of feeling just seemed to radiate from around her, saying that no one here was welcome. Nope. The Hydra was no happy camper here. And soon enough, the two of them would figure out exactly what it was that this eccentric woman was so ticked off by. A sudden bright flash of light enveloped the dip, and Sorano had to take a while to finally recognize the aura's identity. Wait... could it be that little ball of light from before? It's auric identity was suddenly much more advanced in size and complexity, but still had mostly that sort of monotone in terms of emotions.

"I see the both of you defeated those who attempted to take over this world with their cult." Blinking at the sudden words that emanated from the grand source of light, Sorano wondered at why it only spoke to them now. If the thing had actually talked them through the job, they could have gotten things done so much easier! Maybe it had been deterred or something? She wouldn't know. What she did know, though, was that Nightshade wasn't at all happy with the orb's first words and she wasn't going to hesitate in showing it. Immediately bursting out angrily at the light, she barely gave it any time to feebly and awkwardly defend itself verbally before the poor thing was called out on the attack it was preparing behind its back. Once more, Sorano blinked. She wasn't quite keeping up with the onslaught of events, and it showed in her darting eyes and uncertain thumb-twiddling. When the energy attack hit, though? That was clear enough. The little orb of light was obviously an enemy!

After Nightshade easily blocked the attack, she tossed a question at Sorano which the letter mage naturally had to think about. See, one of the main annoyances with being an emotional intellectual was that decisions took ages. Being able to consider every view equally, one was bound to have a countless number of views to look at the situation at. If she agreed, would it count as breaking the Fairy Law? Sure, the orb certainly didn't seem like a monster, but it wasn't quite human, either. Perhaps it didn't die? That would make things easier for the conflicted girl, but she couldn't rely on that assumption alone. So, after an excruciatingly long period of time, she finally nodded slowly, a cautious "I suppose so," dribbling from the edge of her mouth.

A small knife slipped into her hand, one she would use to track the orb so she could track is location. Placing it inside a small mirror that seemed invisible if tilted at an angle, she sent it discreetly flying about the current opponent. Doing her best to hold the attention of the orb on the two mages, she loosened the mirror, releasing the knife so it barely grazed the orb. Though it might have seen that as an attack, it was much more tool of strategic importance than offensive use. Tossing one to Nightshade, we would explain to the woman how it would guide her in the direction of wherever the or was if it travelled too fast or could go invisible.

The glowing blasted ball of light was going to become a major pain in Nightshades bum, or at least it would have if Sorano wasn't here to back her up. Well okay, that was a half-truth, nightshade could have handled it fairly easily, but Sorano made it easy for Nightshade to keep up her own actions, AND be able to fight at a competent level, again Sorano was pretty good and Nightshade didn't mind having her along for the ride, it could be worse,s he could be dealing with a buffoon who only cared about bloodshed or possibly just desired all the glory for themselves, just like that one little country girl who Nightshade had the wonderful fortune of messing with recently. Regardless, the battle being fought was a little fierce, at least on the part of Sorano and the ball of light, which Nightshade currently wished to make physical, in order to beat it up with raw satisfaction, that and she didn't like being deceived, ironic given what Nightshade truly was. As she watched the knife graze the thing, she noticed how it was a little physical, or the knife was highly magical, didn't matter it could be hurt and if it could be hurt...

The knife, however, seemed to allow her to sense the real position of the thing, or rather the hidden position of their true enemy. This giant ball of light was clearly just a distraction, which made sense the thing could reform after being destroyed by her, so naturally, it had a trick up its sleeve and it was no fault of Nightshades in the slightest. That was her logic anyway as she started to see the bigger picture, if only this place hadn't been so saturated with magic, Nightshade could have found the main source of their problems with no real effort, but sadly this planet dared to defy her by existing, eventually she would have to rectify that, but for now all she could do it take down this guy who was apparently the main cause of the entire problem. Granted, now that she knew Nightshade did the smart thing and began to push herself out of the little canyon she was stuck in and move towards the proper direction of her newly found prey, just to get all of this over with. While in the back of Nightshades mind that there was something they had missed, something else to this whole mystery, but nightshade didn't mind missing any of it, if it meant this entire nightmare could end.

Racing towards a small outcropping not too far from the location, she noticed that blasts of energy were following behind her, and hopefully, the younger mage also some ways behind her could somehow distract it further. Arriving at the scene fairly quickly because word count demands that this scene not become dragged out, Nightshade saw a man on top of some kind of summoning circle, or at least that's what she thought it looked like. Clearly, he was the one in charge, because Nightshade believed he was the one in charge, which made it the truth. Arriving down on the scene proper, Nightshade landed with flair a few feet from him, and the man looked towards her, startled by her appearance so soon.

"Stop you know not what you are doing, the monsters here, they desire the forge they will become too strong, we need sacrifices to stop them for but a time longer!"

"You need sacrifices!? Well, then you sir are in luck!"

Unleashing so many threads that the entire area was covered in them, Nightshade didn't actually show mercy unlike the last few times, where she held back and stopped them from dying. Apparently killing was a good idea as it would prevent something from occuring that would be horrible for the planet, if one believed the random main cultist here, which Nightshade did in order to get validation for her violence. Naturally he attempted to fight back by throwing his attacks in every direction, but it wasn't enough, Nightshade wasn't playing around anymore, well almost wasn't playing anymore. He was taken down fairly quickly and that put an end to that, even if the planet was doomed, not like she lived on it anyway.

Crawling out of the small pit, Nightshade looked around for Sorano, if she was still there and shouted out.

"Alright, this waste of a time field trip is done, apparently there was some sacrifice thing going on to stop something else from destroying the planet, eh whatever we got it done, that's all that matters."
