Apparently, the absence of Chrono had made its arrival; the sand mage was nowhere to be seen, thus the sand that made up Mura’s cover began to shrink away. What would be left on him was destroyed garments of his previous gi, luckily but surprisingly covering his most important parts. On top of that, bruises were made on his skin, but they were too insignificant to notice for him. So… where was that red-haired Infinity Hydra mage, now? His eyes rolled around, just as his guildmate Sorano asked the same question that he was thinking of. “Huh… he was here a moment ago. Perhaps he got lost in the forest somewhere…” he replied to her. It was a little inappropriate for him to disappear just like that; there were still two Vulcans that he left behind. He decided to take care of them a few moments ago, and now this…

“MURA!” the samurai spirit’s voice echoed towards the shaman as one of the Vulcans made their charging way at him from the side, suddenly surprising both. His shocking reaction caused his feet to leap back from the crushing punch that was launched at him. In the middle of the heat, he couldn’t speculate much more about Chrono’s whereabouts; if the guy was lost, then he would most likely find a way back. For now, Mura had to focus as he moved both hands before his chest to parry a pair of bloodthirsty claws that were swung at him. Did Vulcans naturally have that long nails? It was most likely a kind of mutation… perhaps by the same thing that altered Mura’s and Sorano’s physique a while ago. Nonetheless were those claws extremely sharp as they began to tear down the protective scales from Mura’s skin. He could’ve normally gone for a counter, but using a dragon’s spirit was harder than it looked. He was way more accustomed to Kyuken’s abilities and traits, and having a superior being fused into your own self caused some strains on his body if he kept it for too long. “I might… need a helping hand over here..!” he forced himself to speak out in the middle of the struggle. Slowly, veins could be seen on his body as a direct result of the strain, but he couldn’t worry about that. Not now…

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
There was no such thing as a person with a perfect sense of direction in the mind of this certain letter mage, for new places were always forming and changing upon this earth. Thus, there was no way the possibility of Chrono having lost his direction was completely invalid. Yet, something within the depths of this extremely logical mind resided a part of Sorano that frowned upon this theory. After all, there was no such thing as a rock that didn't wear away under steady diligence of water, or ice that never melted. Through the cracks, drips of typical common sense slipped nevertheless into her mind. Nope. Chrono wasn't dumb enough just to have lost his way. But evidently, there were more immediate matters on hand than the Disappearance of Chrono Libra, an occurrence that was only slightly slower and much more low-key than Hatsune Miku's version.

As the now oversized clothes she wore began to grow large and drapey, Sorano carefully adjusted them with twitches of her fingertips, pulling and tugging with threads of magic until it settled upon her form quite nicely again. "MURA!" The old spirit with quite the voice, aye, certainly caught the attention of this mage. Amber gaze flying up to face the scene before her, Sorano barely noticed the thorny pricking of burr-like claws digging into her heels. "Ch-chh, Hoshi. You're good," was her soothing response. Heh! If only this situation could be called good at all. Mutated apes with terrible tastes in fashion was just about the worst thing ever, right?!?

Well, in the heat of the moment, it definitely for sure was. Lifting a careful finger, swirls of words were printed into the air, curling into being in an odd form of literature. Radiating a spectral glow from deep within, they seemed almost to pierce the gloom of the forest. Raising the spell above her head, she moved as close to Mura as she dared, then released the radiant dome. As light fell upon the land, a powerful dome of brightness enveloped the group, draining enemies of energy and power while supplying Mura and his spirits with a fresh boost. Aye, the newest battle had begun indeed.

The Vulcan was one tough bastard and didn’t seem to cool down in the middle of its rampage. Mura was fully occupied in blocking its razor-sharp claws and ferocious attitude. Meanwhile, his spell was about to turn off, and the pressure was only increasing on him, until a radiant sphere was engulfing him and Sorano, plus the Vulcans that were trying to gang up on the two Fairy Tail mages. Immediately, he could feel the pressure leave his body as well as his bruises disappearing slowly. It was also just before Zirconis was meant to leave Mura’s body, before he overstrained it. “Just in time,” the dragon commented as it made its arrival beside Mura’s head, “It appears as if I don’t really suit your physique… what a laugh.” The dragon was obviously joking; not every human was accustomed to the powers of a dragon. The only ones who appeared to be was those Dragon Slayers that Mura had met in his lifetime, but Zirconis also had his grudges against that title.

“Just on a hanging hair. Thanks, Sorano,” he spoke to her as he felt quite lifted from a ton of weight once again, “Kyuken, you’re up now!” As he said that, the samurai spirit shone up in happiness as he was finally going to fight. The spirit head charged towards Mura’s palm, before it was launched into his chest as usual. The light that was surrounding them would intensify by the phenomenon, temporarily blinding the Vulcans for a moment. As their eyes opened, Mura was nowhere to be found for about a second, until his knee was spotted on the side of one of the Vulcans. It appeared to roar out in pain, due to its already existing injuries from its battle against Chrono, which motivated Mura to go all-out as a clone of himself was seen landing a sharp cut on the other’s shoulder. Along with the light, it was just enough to bring them down as they were practically walking around ‘danger-zone’; the light from Sorano’s Solid Script spell would damage them, but leave Mura unharmed as he could do as he pleased.

With a heavy fall, they were out. Mura shook his head a little, before moving his eyes around the lab once again. He barely got to say anything to Sorano, before he too felt the presence of others. “Show yourselves!” he let out quite randomly with the combined voices of his and Kyuken's, hoping to force whoever hid around here to reveal their faces, and thus explain the situation…

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
Hearing the reassuring thank you that trickled out the edge of Mura's mouth, only to be whipped into the frenzied air of battle around them, Sorano allowed herself to lend her own small hand to the fight. As the comforting weight of Kagayaku dropped into her hand, she slid over, low to the ground and let it fly fairly accurately into the creature's foot. Hearing the anguished howl that resonated through the forest, she could tell her effort had been a success. Now that it was distracted, she could only leave the rest up to the shamanic mage. As that was being done, she slipped on over to the second vulcan, one who was possibly uglier and more scarring than the sight of the Flame of the Phoenix's cosplay photos.

Here, she dropped a small surprise by his feet, one that swelled up into a panel of silvery glass to reflect horrible images into the mind of the vulcan, perhaps it's own image even. There. Tasks complete. A high-pitched squeal accented that one. Yup, things were going along a lot more smoothly by now~!

As Mura finished the dreadful mutants off, Sorano moved over to him, only to be interrupted in her path by the awkwardly dramatic proclamation that issued out the diaphragm of Mura. Oh, wait. Allow a speedy correction of that, Mura and Kyuken. Aye, it was quite the dramatic moment, a proud "Show yourselves!" Ricocheting through the trees. What came next? Prettier things than the vulcans, but ugly in their own unique way. Carrying little forests of electric rods and transportable test tube racks, they looked fairly comical at first sight. But from a quick energy scan of the miniature chemical forests, these were nothing to be trifled with. "Watch the test tubes, everyone," she said softly, beginning to swirl letters through the air behind her back.

From a secret hole in the floor, a pair of scientists made their presences aware, while wielding something. That was the only way that Mura could describe the get-up; several test tubes were tied to their mechanical suits as well as their armory containing pairs of electric rods to their disposal. Despite not expressing much magic power, their spirits were extremely toughened in the eyes of the shaman. Perhaps Sorano could see it too… something was odd with them. They didn’t look mutated like the two Vulcans from earlier, but that was soon to be explained. “I guess that you’re the ones who caused this issue,” he spoke up to the couple. He would move Harusame to the side, revealing its sharpened blade as Kyuken began to leak out of Mura and into the metal. Soon, it was fully transformed into one of his spirit-bound weapons.

“Hmpf… we must give our thanks to you, though,” one of the strangers replied to them. It was surprising; just what did the mage crew exactly do to earn their gratitude? Also, why thanking the ones who were obviously about to stop you from whatever you were doing? “You provided with more than enough information, dear test subjects,” he continued with a strangely calm voice, “However, if you dare stop us from learning more, then sure-“ Suddenly, the scientist’s words got stuck in his throat by a sudden, single glare from Mura that dug right into the eyes of them both, striking fear effortlessly. It was a rare sight, yet reasonable. Slowly, his hair bristled in the breeze, exposing bursts of a very familiar energy… the dark one. “There’s nothing for you to thank us for,” a rather intensified voice of Mura spoke back to them. The two scientists immediately backed off and made distance between themselves and what thing had appeared inside of Mura. He threw a quick glance at Sorano, well aware that she’d seen this before. It must’ve worried her back then, in which he assured with a rather childish smile: “Don’t worry. I found a way to control it.”

“What is this?” the other scientist let out in confusion, while clicking around with a binocular that was attached to his mechanical exoskeleton, “This came out of nowhere… hehe, exciting!" He suddenly bursted out in laughter; thick, insane laughter. "Is it more of your Magic, no? Then please, learn us more!!!” They appeared like two learning-sick persons, and despite their supposedly high level of intelligence (due to being scientists in the end), there was something odd with their expressions. Nonetheless could it prevent them from charging towards the two Fairy Tail mages with their electric rods swung towards their first target; Sorano. They were surprisingly fast, but Mura was already having his spirit katana cut into one of them, thus interrupting their charge. The other one proceeded to help his partner by throwing one of his many test tubes towards Mura, who remembered Sorano’s warning and fiercely cut it to nothing with his blade.

“Sorano!” he yelled up to inform his teammate of something suspicious, “There’s still one more down there! Try and bring him out of here, so that we can take them all out in one blow!” Somehow, there was still the presence of a single soul from the hole where the two other scientists came from. However, the idea sounded a little odd, due to how the situation could ease by more enemies to fight. Mura always had a reason, though… or not always. At least, not this time; his mind was slowly swaying back and forth in this form, which could clearly turn out dangerously...

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
Glancing over, the letter mage watched with slightly narrowed eyes at the transfer of Kyuken into the blade the samurai carried. Mm. All seemed well there, while she carefully let her finger slide it's way down the back of Hoshi's ear. "You may have to put in work here, Hoshi." Light trembling emanated from the lump of fur, but a nod was still detectable by way of touch. Eyes gauging the power levels of these scientists, Sorano turned her sensitivity levels up. They seemed to be decently powerful creatures, capable of fairly strong attacks. Though their build was lean, she knew from experience that muscle power gained from endurance wasn't created by the damaging of muscle fibers and the increase in size, but increase in fluid around the muscle cells. Thus, they appeared leaner.

Auras were calm, but as often seem in deranged people, when struck upon by her senses, an odd echo was reflected back, one that hurt her ears with the ugliness of it. And that gnarled and blackened forest about them, oh, how it reeked! Perhaps not in the literal way, but the simple presence of it leaked a putrid and horrible essence, one that shriveled Hoshi's courage up, laughing in excitement as it did so. But this had to be fought, and so noses were pinched, and eyes narrowed into slits. And after the evil scientist monologue given, something happened. Light slammed across dark irises, countless follicles of black finding themselves airborne. With a finger placed upon the surface of Luna, Sorano was prepared to manipulate auras.

There it was again, that sudden blackness oozing about the samurai, Mura being coated in a layer of disgustingness. But it was alright? Perhaps that simple, silly smile was reassurance enough, for the shield was lowered and muscles relaxed, only to tense once more at the movements of their opponents. As musical nonsense danced from their diaphragms and into the musty air, electricity cracked and peace was shattered.

Watching in the background for the briefest of moments, Sorano observed the going-ons with a watchful eye. Noting the movements her guildmate made, and the erratic moves the cerebrums of the scientists commanded their muscles to make, she was poised to join Mura when her thoughts were interrupted with the shamanic mage's call. A third person? Darting a glance over, Sorano nodded slowly. "On it!" was the response as she ran scenarios through her head as fast as she could. Assuring herself that her allies were far away enough not to hear her, she started a strategic combination of magicks.

First, the playing with emotions was involved, slowly alternating between anger and excitement, riling the aura until it was fired up enough to seriously consider exiting. Then, careful choice of words were flung into the air. "This is your one and only chance at complete victory. If you exit this place, you've got a chance! Come on, come on! Just come out and face your final opponents!" Infusing the words with utmost power, the final scientist was lured out. Well... a scientist with four arms.

Post by Mura Kensho 24th October 2016, 7:51 am

As Sorano ran down to bring out the true danger, Mura moved his gaze back to the scientists. With his awakened magic, he might’ve felt confident of his victory; however, that wasn’t the case. He thought that his journey to the Underworld would’ve helped him with the aura problem that he felt so many times when using this, but he could clearly feel some remains of the side effects. For instance, the lack of concentration was apparent; every time that he swung Harusame, then he felt that he swung a little too harder than necessary, in which the opponent had time to recover from the attempt to dodge his blade. Kyuken! Kyuken, can you hear me?, his thoughts sought out to the spirit bound within the katana, We got to hurry! I can feel something slipping..! Suddenly, he noticed the test tube right in front of his face, in which he barely dodged the glass. He would’ve dodged it easier if not for the damn side effects. On it..!, the samurai spirit replied, Use it! Now!

As the two scientists ganged up from the air, something seemed to block their electric rods from touching their opponent. A sinister aura was coating around Mura like a sphere, while crescent slashes soared around the contour. “Kyuken-Style!” Mura roared out, causing the sphere to crack open, “Halo Blade!” The cracks turned into a countless amounts of slashes that cut through the scientists’ very bodies, while the dark aura raged upon them like a blaze. Mura held his katana up beside his torso, while the darkness leaked out into nothingness, slowly disappearing by the command of the shaman.

“Mura! Mura, are you alright?!” the ancient samurai asked out, watching Mura’s sweating face. The shaman lifted up a hand with a faint smile to assure that he was okay, before looking around. “I gotta say, that power always changes the battle,” Zirconis commented as he also witnessed its might back then. But the fight was far from over… and their next opponent was suddenly standing out with his extremely strange condition; four arms? Mura could’ve went with the 1/3 times bigger head, and his Herculean muscle mass, but four arms? The new danger looked around in wonder, watching the two heavily damaged scientists. Then, his face moved towards Sorano, the one that was closest. With the help from his intellect, he concluded that taking her on was the most reasonable as she was seemingly left out; Mura could see that on his face. And as the madman charged with his four arms digging through the ground to speed him up, Mura wanted to help; however, a warning from Zirconis made him switch focus towards one of the scientists that swung his electric rod towards the shaman’s torso. Quickly, the shaman’s body disappeared into the scientists, in which he gained enough control to redirect that rod towards the scientist’s companion. Whoever was possessed was completely confused of the situation, until he suddenly redirected the rod towards his own belly. It hurt, but Mura managed to shatter his soul from the body before suffering too much damage there, returning to his original form. Standing there, he was exhausted and unable to directly hasten to his guildmate’s help. “Sorano..!”

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
Even as she eyed the oddity with an incredulous expression for someone like her painted upon her face, Sorano blinked at a sudden change in aura behind her. Feeling blindly about with her aural senses, they latched upon something distantly familiar. Frowning, she let her sense roam over it carefully, checking to see how stable the aura was. Wishing she could support it, the mage frowned, hoping the shaman would deal okay. Instead, she turned, squaring her center of balance so she faced the mutant on steady feet. Though she was no master when it came to combat, books had taught her at least this tiny little trick.

Feeling the weakening of the auras around her from friend and foe alike, she quickly centered herself, focusing her magic with great care. Slowly, she began to speak again, filling her words to the brim with magic. "Say, sir. What are you? You may consider yourself powerful, but by ingesting that serum, what can you be considered as now? A robot? Another experiment only to be controlled?" A slow trickle of sweat made its way down her cheek as Sorano did her best to keep the flow steady. The will of this mutant was strong and wild, a hard one to hold under the spell of her words. "You're useless, you know. The second you swallowed that thing, you died. You died, you know! You can't change the world anymore, because you're dead! So why keep fighting? Give up already! This is useless!"

Strengthening her own resolve before those tilting eyes, that clouded gaze, she ignored the snaps in emotion from those behind her. Those were not her worries now. For here she stood, locked in mental battle with this man, mouth moving without a word coming out. As those horrible horrible eyes gazed into hers, she would forget herself a moment, nearly falling into those clouds, but re!aimed still. Finally, the word was mouthed, the shortest sentence possible in English. "Go."

And Hoshi went. A flash of powerful energy springing from snowy mittens, a sting, a shock spread from exceed to mutant occurred, causing him to whirl around in surprise, another chance for Sorano to prepare for a strike.

Something happened when the mutant approached Sorano; it wasn’t clear enough to hear exactly what she was saying. It wasn’t even loud enough to be heard, but her mouth moved and caused the next enemy to alter its spiritual order slightly. However, it merely stood there in front of her, and the sweat trickling from her face was a sign of exhaustion. Before he could even make his way to his guildmate, Hoshi appeared with a surprise-attack that shocked him the most. That spark went directly into the mutant’s torso, launching it meters into the low shrubbery. That little cat sure surprised the shaman and his spirits, even Zirconis didn’t see that coming from such a timid animal.

“Oh, well… I have a lot to realize,” he mumbled as he approached Sorano, “I can’t sense others nearby, and the two others are down for the count. I guess that this is the last enemy here…” He got to take a closer look at the new, mutated scientist with the multiple pairs of arms, a giant head and apparently no expressions of a human. A rather sad result from an experiment, it was. However, that thought was thrown away like hitting a ball with a baseball club; the mutant came out of nowhere, swinging both its pairs of arms against Mura and Sorano. It let out a howl after realizing that the samurai had used his katana to soften the impact, thus cutting through the mutant’s bicep. As his feet grabbed onto the earth, he launched himself forward with his spell-fused sword to land a heavier hit, but the mutant was faster and smarter than he thought. Rapidly, its other arm was aimed at Mura’s face as he was mere inches away from it, and in that moment, time appeared to slow down…

Somehow, Mura got the first hit. The mutant appeared to get stunned mid-punching the shaman in the head, but if you took a quick look, then you would spot the branches strangling the scientist from toes to neck. It was because of those branches from the Onmyōji that the tables turned in that little moment. And now that the mutant was weakened even more, the shaman leaped a few meters away from it. “You might look tougher on the outside…” he commented, while having the spiritual blade resting on his shoulder, “But your soul is weak.” As he said that, he barely noticed the dog tags under his feet that appeared to shine up discreetly...

    GRACE UNDER FIRE
And as electricity stung the air, a tension was broken as the atmosphere roared back in revenge at the little fly that had dared to disturb it. The mutant lurched in shock at the prick, one that had injured him little but offended him much. Arms wild in indecision as to where to hit, the wotld spun and righted itself as a streak of spiritual energy waved itself tantalizingly before the opposing one. And a horrible groan of madness and pain was released as the slender blade embedded itself within bulging flesh, stinking of rot and chemical as the katana emerged once more. And they leapt at each other, arms flailing, blades swinging. Silent preparation swirled about the mind of the letter mage as she stood, attaining to her own breathing and gazing determinedly at the monstrous thing.

And as Mura came through, silvery blade whisking itself into the stink once more, Hoshi let her muscles guide her through a routine she had gone through in training so many times. Gathering lightning within her paws, she let the electricity build, feeding off the essence of Nature that swelled up within her, filling the area with the presence of the deity. And a gentle, loving release. The orb of power descended gently into the back of the bramble-studded creature. Feeding off the chemicals in the oddity, lightning spread. And Sorano let her muscles loosen here as well, mixing magicks with ease. Fingers swirling, directing her orchestra of words, they clicked into place. Boiling water on lightning, followed by the most powerful blast of electricity yet.

He fell. Too much metal, too many liquids. Really simple, to be honest. The enemy of artificial beings were almost always electricity. Thus, things worked here. Barely escaping her collapse, she exited limping gently with a deep cut in arm from some accident in the process she guessed was from the poodles, and miscellaneous little maladies all over. Hoshi has a torn claw and a few minor scratches as well, but the group seemed fairly unhurt. Applying a healing spell to herself and her mates, she bowed a shallow little bow to Mura. "Thank you very much for working with us on this job. You've improved a significant amount in just about everything." A serene nod, and they were gone off again, towards wherever they were to go now.

The entire opening in the forest lit up by Sorano’s and Hoshi’s team-up combo as the mutant was barely conscious now. With the combined attacks of lightning, the more natural kind, and Sorano’s Solid Script, it was a beautiful finisher. Of course, Mura could have some credit too; he was the one who subdued the mutant in the beginning. He’d grown accustomed to his inherited powers a little more, and he was surely getting closer and closer to his ancestors. This fight required all of his powers that ran through his blood, and as he watched the falling mutant, he could clearly see the silhouettes of his fathers. His father, the one, indian/looking warrior that he met in his visit to the Underworld, The First Onmyōji, and at last, the ruler of the above/mentioned world of the dead… all proud of the offspring.

He spotted Sorano approach him as his skin began to feel better when she bowed shallowly to him, thanking him for joining her in this job. It was kind of like the last time that they took a job together, back at the giant tower with the worshippers of the sun; everything loosened out in the end. "Well, you helped out a lot too-" he spoke back to her, before realizing that she was gone, “... Hehe. That was weird.” The shaman began to laugh a little after Sorano’s very quick departure. Kyuken and Zirconis showed up beside his shoulders, each looking after her. “Well…let’s get these guys tied up,” he suggested, “They shouldn’t wake up and cause any more problems right after.” He began to move his leg, until he spotted the dog tag beneath it; it was bright and white, with a few weird words written on it. Curiously, he picked it up and took a quick look on it. “Hm…” Putting it into his pocket, he switched topic, “Kyuken, Zirconis… I’ve gotten closer.” The two spirits turned their gaze at him with surprise at his random statement. “My blood… it’s not as insignificant as I thought earlier…”
