GRACE UNDER FIRE
Checking the final words of the spell, Sorano practiced smiling yet again. Who knew that such a simple task of moving your muscles could be so difficult? Simply curving your lips upwards no big deal, but even the emotionless mage could tell that it didn't look quite right. Her eyes were to empty, and one could see the forced miss bulging awkwardly beneath skin. When she relaxed, it looked more like she was a chipmunk of sorts, and what she tried to laugh, it sounded creepy. Nope, nope, not happening.
Turning, she gently released the last spell into the guild hall, creating a magical confetti that fell constantly and dissipated into sparkling powder once it touched the floor. It was ready. Stepping back, the letter mage surveyed her work. Ribbons and balloons adorned the entryways and any place they looked right. Tables were covered in detailed woven tablecloths and were covered in to of all types. A huge banner hung over the table in the middle, at the moment only holding a huge cake and two presents from Hoshi and herself. The banner had these simple words written upon it: "Happy Birthday, Julius!" And every single thing was blue.
The doors were thrown open, and Sorano would watch as her guildmates entered. It was Julius' birthday, after all.
