    Job Info:

Inside the enclosed forest that didn't work hard in tearing your sanity apart bits by bits, one figure was crossing paths with it. He stood at the gate, simply studying the forest that he was going to enter for the second time. Sei was tightly holding onto his back, a frightened atmosphere around that poor being. Imai could sense its anxiety and patted its back to calm Sei down. "Just stick close to me, alright..?" he friendly spoke to it, seemingly removing some of its nervousity. He couldn't blame it; he was quite scared too, if you judge by the contain of that box, which was sent to his house. He still had goosebumps from the suddenly dying statics, not wishing to know what happened after the lacrima died. "... I can't let myself get scared. I'm a Saber," he spoke to himself, before stepping his feet into the ethereal...

The second that he stepped on the forest, he cringed due to the exciting, yet irritating goosebumps that was travelling through his spine. His mind expected something to arrive at the moment, but to his surprise and relief, nothing seemed to react to his entrance. "Phew... I thought for a second that..." he was about to let out, before his ears caught a grasp of a strange sound from the shrubbery, "!" His head would freeze for a moment, before slowly moving towards a bush, seemingly where the voice came from. He kept his eyes at it for a while, but nothing seemed to jump out... yet.

"So much for a jump-scare, though..." he let out, wiping sweat off his forehead. This forest was already in the middle of cutting down his sanity, a very impatient place this is. However, despite that Imai couldn't hear anything for now, Sei kept its ears towards a direction before the star mage... something else was most likely approaching.

It took a while, before the little alien patted its partner, trying to get his attention for a second. "Huh? Something wrong, Sei?" Imai asked it. The little guy would nod towards the direction where it heard the strange sound emerging from. Imai would turn his head towards the location too, and slowly approach it with caution. "... Rune Knights... Doctor," he called, but got no answer. Not even a single reaction would answer his call, except a step-like sound coming from behind! Imai would dart forward, hiding himself behind a bush before he even knew it. Shaking like a washing machine, the 'brave' star mage popped his head out slowly, only to see that nothing was there. "... Ey, this is just getting worse and worse," he complained, "Sei, let's go deeper and find those guys in a hurry. I don't want to be in this forest any longer..."

And so, the bold star mage went further into the depths of the forest, having an unknown faith await his arrival. He could hear the cracking sound from below, seemingly the all-year old, fallen leaves that were stamped on his move. It couldn't help but build up suspense to this poor guy's mind, unconsciously making him look to the left and right a few times per tenth second, just to make sure that he didn't encounter anything unwished. "Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay," he repeated to himself, "Nothing's wrong here... except what I heard from the lacrima... oh, darn all this, I can't concentrate!" As soon as he let out that complaint, he could not only hear but spot movements of a bush nearby. He would instantly go fight-stance mode, darting his eyes towards the shrubbery. "... Who's there?" he slowly spoke, "Come out, whoever you are..!"

Apparently, no one were reacting to his call as the bush stood still as if it've never moved an inch. Question marks popped out of his head; was he finally losing his mind? He begged to the lord that he was just being too paranoid...

Now, this must've been the point of no return; as he slowly concluded the situation as peaceful, a bonk on his head knocked him forward, causing the ambushed star mage to fall over the bush. "WAH!!!" he roared in shock, spotting that behind that same bush was a small ravine, which had a rolling Imai and alien approaching. They both landed on another little bush with their heads first, deeply sticked to the leaf ball. He quickly pulled his head off, shaking leaves off it before commenting: "... Great, perhaps that was just me... or..." He began shaking a little, due to his mind imagining all kinds of reasons that he was bonked down the ravine.

The bush that he landed on seemed annoyed by the mere movement of it, causing Imai to jump up in fright. "WHAT?!" he shouted, standing quite comical with his hands launched back and all, "... Did that just move?" It was unluckily concluding him that nothing was normal, either peaceful at the moment...

"Sei, I think that we're in trouble now..." he spoke to his partner, calmly stroking its back, "But don't worry... scared or not, we'll get out of this." He would stand normally once again, adjusting his foothold before looking forward. "Just watch my back, okay? And not literally my back... you know what I mean," he told it, before moving on with the mission. That was right, he had to find the Rune Knights and whoever accompanied them during the time where he heard them in the lacrima. If they were still alive, then they would most likely need his help or something...

Luckily, he took the diary from the box with him, just in case if he needed its content. He read about the man and his beloved back at the guild hall, feeling quite the compassion for his whereabouts. "I hope that you're okay, bud'," he let out, feeling some of the fear flushing away from his skin...

Holding the book tightly to his arm, the star mage wandered further. The light was fading away from the supposedly bright night sky, ending his previous star research. If anything would help his mind to calm down, it would be those objects up there. However, as the branches were densing the view, a thick shadow was all that he could see now. Plus the fog that had been surrounding him for the longest time now, when did it dismiss itself? He kept walking forward, surprised that he didn't bump into any trees just yet, when he could suddenly sense the presence of a figure at the end of the fog. "!!!!!!!" It caused all his nerves to jump, making the star mage twitch his entire body up to the air in a very funny way, until landing on the wet ground after that jump-scare. He quickly launched himself up again, convincing himself that it would most likely be a Rune Knight; either that or the diary's owner.

"... He-Hello?" he stuttered, squinting his eyes as he focused on the figure that just seemed to be at the edge of the fog, "Rune K-Knight? Anyone..?" No answer, except the silence and presence of that figure. It touched his nerves a lot, even to the point where the star mage didn't care of whom the figure belonged to; with one leap, he approaching it with high speed. However, at the arrival, the figure revealed nothing but the background of trees and bushes...

"... What the hell was that?" he asked himself and Sei, "I'm getting enough of all this. Show yourself, monster! I know that you're out there!" It was very stupid to shout out like that, but he was getting annoyed. He didn't want to waste so much energy just to be scared of mere sounds, figures and shadows. He had to pull himself together now. And (un)luckily, the figure seemed to appear once again, sheltered by the fog and sending darts through Imai's back. "..." His fear hadn't left him just yet.

He began chasing the figure, regretting nothing of the future outcome; sadly, it appeared gone when he arrived. He kept doing that same thing for a little while, having his hair rise higher for every moment. This was about to leave him crazy, and he would hate to lose his focus now. "W-We ain't stopping yet; d-don't run a-away..!"

All of a sudden, he got closer to the figure without its annoying vanish. Now, he had to gather his courage, because he couldn't prevent what was about to happen when he reached its position. He squinted his eyes in and hoped for a good start in the upcoming fight, but faith surprised him once more. His face bumped right into a 100% human being; and a normal one, just to mention. He rolled back on the floor with a red mark on his nose, complaining: "Ouch, who's there?!" He would quickly stand ready for battle, when slowly moving his eyes towards the person laying down. "No, show mercy!" the stranger begged while curving into a ball, "Please, spare my life gods, wake me up of this nightmare..." Imai just stood there, watching the guy pray with blank eyes. "... Phew, you scared me there," he commented, catching the stranger's attention.

"Oh, I'm saved!" he spoke up, tightly hugging onto Imai's legs, "Please... you have to get out of here, you have no idea of what's chasing us..." Imai would by those words figure out that he must've been one of the Rune Knights; either that or the diary's owner...

"Ehm..." Imai was being quite tightly hugged now, as if some scared kid was holding to his legs, "Alright, it's okay. Just... can you tell me what happened? I'm on a mission." The male would slowly stand up, realizing his situation slowly then reply: "Y-You see... I'm a Rune Knight, a-apparently, w-who was scouting this place with my group. S-Suddenly, while we were... w-w-while we were..." he began stammering while talking, which didn't help the star mage a lot. Although, he could understand it if the poor mage had been out for quite a shock.

"Wait, can you tell me what happened then?" Imai tried to speed the man's explanation up. He would take a brief break, then continue: "This person... or rather, this beast came after us... i-it teared my squad apart, one by one... it was..." The man would begin stammer again, making the situation a level more difficult. "And... she was so dark, like a living shadow... and it's nearby," he would speak up, tightly grabbing onto Imai's arms, "Please, you have to get out of here now! You won't survive its presence..!"

"Hey, I can't just cancel my mission..!" Imai protested, "Besides, I'm not that easy to scare! Just watch..!" He was obviously bluffing, judging by his previous state. "Are you crazy?! It'll rip your body in two!" the scared Rune Knight replied, suddenly looking around the area. Apparently, due to his paranoid state, he was extra-aware of the slightest movement in the bushes, which scared the hell out of him. "..." Imai was quite aware of someone else's presence, but to be sure, he moved towards one of the bushes to check out. He did it slowly, which appeared to build up suspense, just like in a horror movie. When his head stuck its eyes behind the bush, he was relieved by its emptiness. "Phew..."

A scream would be heard from behind, causing the surprised star mage to turn around. His buddy was now pulled to a corner by a sudden, dark figure that held him by the collar; its appearance was like a curse, affecting everyone around it. Its eyes were previously focused on the last survivor of the squad, but were now moving towards the interrupter...

    Post by Imai-chi 20th July 2016, 10:02 am

His first reaction was simple; with a shocked mind and magic power surging from his body, the star mage charged towards the beast with a cloak of bluish stardust, faster than it could follow up. He landed a quite tough kneel on its 'face', launching it towards the shrubbery again. "Hey, are you..?!" he was trying to ask the Rune Knight, checking if it'd hurt him fatally. "What... it's back. Oh no..!" the Rune Knight complained in terror. Imai would focus his eyes onto the reddish eyes that shone in the middle of the plutonian forest, soon to move around them like a predator. Imai, now surrounded in his offensive shield, would dash into the forest and follow those bloodthirsty eyes, until the beast would move out to the opening of the forest again...

Once exposed, Imai would land a charging kick to its chin, launching it right into a giant log. "Hey, Rune Knight! You got any helpful spells?" he asked the scaredy-cat, "Like, supportive spells or weapons that I can use..? Or perhaps a meteor to end this abomination..?" The earlier curling Rune Knight would stand up, responding to his question by creating a greenish light that would soon form into an emerald spear, launching it towards the beast's pinned arm...

The spear hit, but Imai's surprise was soon to be denied as the beast quickly hurled one of its unexpected tentacles at him. The star mage just barely parried them with his hands and proceeded forward, landing another good pair of hits before the spell cancelled. Surprisingly, it was persistent and managed to lash its tentacles all around his body, holding him in a trap. "Crap..!" he spoke out in shock, quickly noticing the feeling of being squeezed by the merciless being. The Rune Knight reacted a little late by charging at the beast with closed eyes and an emerald sword advancing towards its body as he eduded its gaze. A poor choice as he was lashed by another tentacle, now almost knocked out.

An auric presence was apparent on his back, reminding him of Sei; that poor guy was still hoding to his back. "Sei..!" he spoke to it, hoping that it would respond quicker. The aura that surged from it was quite helpful, confirming its safety. On top of that, it supported its partner with power, enough to challenge the shadow's grab.

He was getting annoyed, and desperate, by the squeezing of this beast. Its deep-red, glowing eyes were giving Imai nightmares while awaken and in pain, as well as partly stunning him and thus keeping him from giving it his all at the moment. It was surely merciless, not changing its sinister smile the least by the screams of pain that it squeezed out of the star mage. The Rune Knight was out of the picture, so he had to do something himself. "Don't you..." he let out with hardship, surprising himself for a moment, "... don't you smile at me like that!!!" As he roared that, bluish beams erupted from every aspect of his body in any direction; the tentacles were instantly pushed away from existence as they faded from sight. Imai caught his foothold again, this time with a changed attitude; the curious, excited guy was switched out with one who thirsted for an end to that beast...

"Scary or not... this is it!!!" he roared at the shadow as he moved his hands behind his hips. Forming a ball with them, he would give it a second, before a small, black hole was concentrating its mass between his palms. The beast wasn't just going to wait, though, and charged towards Imai as he was charging. The star mage jumped upwards to evade the tackle, and launched the black ball downwards. "Taste this!" he stated with cockiness, watching the ball grow in size quicker than expected. In a brief second, it would've reached the shadow's figure and began to pull the being into the black hole in a spiral-like track. The black hole swallowed it entirely, thus disappering with a little pop.

"..." Imai was quite sure that it was gone for good; unfortunately, his black hole didn't really work as a normal one would. In a moment, the beast was popped out of another hole, a few meters away from him. "Darn this, it's still alive..." he let out with disappointment...

He couldn't handle to face this beast mcuh longer; its very presence was enough to make your spine shake all the way down to your butt. Despite his anger, fear was about to take over his little mind if he stayed any longer. The black hole was apparent, but the beast was quite aware of it right now. That said, it wouldn't go near it; however, Imai had an idea to push it in again. He knew how much damage that it dealt to it, thus granting it anxiousness of his spell. With an uplifted hand, he called upon the stars that surpassed the very heaven that he knew, calling: "Draco! Descend..!" The four eyes, Imai's and Sei's, would watch a reddish, shiny dragon descend from the sky and land between the beast and Imai, calming some of his frightened mind and supporting with a little ease.

He jumped on it and focused his eyes on the shadow; it kept hiding itself in the fog as it worked as a kind of curtain to keep it hidden. "You won't hide from us forever..!" he spoke to it, before riding Draco around the area to make its tail whip across the surface. With that move, the fog was pushed back and revealing the beast's position...

"... Let's see if this will work," he spoke, before moving Draco towards the beast. The shadow would obviously launch another pair of tentacles against the celestial being, which elegantly dodged its attacks with a smooth twitch of its snake-like body. It would swing its tail towards it, counterattacking with the whip-like slash. It would step back in shock, approaching the black hole. "S-Serves you right, monster!" he spoke to it in anger and fear combined, letting Draco hand it another whip with its tail, hitting it critically as it was launched back. The being was lead right into the black hole that was soon to disappear, only to spit it out from a white hole besides it. It looked exhausted as its speed was slowing down, and Imai was sure that it was about to give up or decay...

Within a blink of his eyes, the shadow disappeared out of nothing. What the hell? He just blinked; all he could remember of its last actions was that it looked straight into his eyes, red, glowing, bloodthirsty eyes that spread out sinister aura. Now, it left... and left a pissed off Saber.

The boy clenched his teeth in letdown, watching the poor Rune Knight who tried to help him. Luckily, he was still alive, but imagining the terror that the poor guy went through... and how lucky Imai was that the beast left him, before he dropped all his power was something to think about later. "... I feel sorry for you, bud'," he let out, lifting up the Rune Knight and holding him on the shoulder, "... I-I can't stay here anymore... a-and poop, I can't stop shaking..." Surprisingly, Sei was looking alright; not a single sign of fear came from it. It was to be envy, actually. Now, the only thing that kept him from leaving this place was all the papers that he didn't spot earlier. Quickly, he took one up and realized that they were signed with the same name as the one on the diary. He couldn't but begin reading, despite his plan to leave...

After having read the pages, he began trying to wake up the Rune Knight. It was harder than he thought as he tried several options, kicking him in the face, slapping, bonking a piece of wood on his head... until he began blinking in pain. "Argh... ARGH!!!" he suddenly screamed, twitching his body everywhere, "LEAVE ME ALONE, MONSTER!!!" Imai would've landed a few meters away from the roar, sitting on his butt with amaze in his eyes. "Hey, wait, it's just me..!" he tried to convince the paranoid Rune Knight, who just moved his gaze towards Imai to make sure that he hadn't lost his mind. "... Oh, s-sorry about that," he excused to the star mage, bowing down with humbleness in his face, "You... did you face it? W-What happened?" "Well... it ran away," he told him, which seemed to lighten up his face, "But it's still out there... so we might leave this place. Now." The Rune Knight found that very painful, due to his friends being left in this god-forsaken forest, but he knew the boundies of keeping his own life. Imai kept the floating pages and put htem into the diary, keeeping them save as he looked around out of paranoia. The presence of danger was slowly fading away, but it was annoying...

Walking across the forest once again, Imai was getting paranoid. The beast just left them, perhaps it was too damaged to face a monster like Imai; at least, that was what he wished. He didn't bother it to disappear forever, or at least come back to another ass-whooping. "I hope that beast stays away, if it knows what's good for it..." he spoke out, "But... hey, isn't a man's wife supposedly lost out here too?" The Rune Knight would turn his face towards Imai with pain, questioning Imai of why he looked at him like that. He didn't mention the wife earlier... or was the beast somehow involved in her absence? "... You know... we were doing a kind of exorcism to her earlier," he replied to Imai, "And she went... let me tell you it clear enough; I think that the monster is HER. The wife itself." Those words shocked Imai in both a frightening and fascinating way; he did read about some excorcism in the diary. Did that mean... that she was possessed by whatever caused the black beast's presence? Now to think of it, he just hurt a seemingly innocent woman quite fatally...
