Fluffiest Catch? | Hika & Dimaria

Cerulean strands of hair draped along the white sheets of the bed, a blanket neatly wrapped around a petite body. The windows were ajar to the cool windy morning as a breeze flurried into the room, blew the curtains at one end and out the other like pale flags. The sunlight penetrated through thin cloth, shining upon the pale face of a fellow Garou Knight. The young girl gently batted her eyelashes open, awoke by the morning sun. Raising up her hand over her face to conceal the sunlight from her eyes, the girl stared past the window through the tiny gaps between her fingers. ”Is it morning already?” She whispered to herself, her voice slightly raspy due to the early hours. Snowflake rested her palm against her face gently while throwing her blanket off her body – it was when she realized that the blanket had been overused, completely worn and thinned out. ”I’ll need a new blanket to prepare for the cold days then.”

Reluctantly, the girl forced her feet onto the cold marbled ground and proceeded into the bathroom to tidy up herself. Unlike other typical girls, Snowflake does not waste too much time in the shower. Merely after a couple of minutes, the girl was washed entirely from head to toe, with her hair messily wrapped into a bundle of towel. Refreshed, she found herself humming to a gentle song as she prepared herself to set off into the town. A French braid resting on the crown of her head and a choker adorned around her slender neck, her attire was simple yet classy with a white blouse underneath a dark blue blazer. Her skirt ruffled against her pale skin as she finished off her look with a slight twirl in front of the mirror.

Before departing her room, Snowflake grabbed her Dust Rapier, namely known as ’Valkyrie’ and sauntered out of the room to search for a famous fabric shop that sells particularly good quality. A huge wooden plank was designed at the peak of the store with huge letters written on it. Must be this one.

The Garou Knight pushed the wooden doors open, revealing a small store with fabrics of a variety of colours neatly draped against the wall. There seemed to be no one but the store owner himself, leaning against the counter as plumes of smoke rose up from the cigarette the man had lit up. Dark eyes crossed over the gaze of silver, a leather hat concealing his brown orbs as he spoke, ”How can I help you, lady?” Despite how his face was slightly hidden by his hat, Snowflake could tell that he was a rather attractive man for his age. ”I’d like to buy a thick blanket, a soft one if it’s possible.” A sigh escaped his lips, as if he was dissatisfied with something she had just remarked in particular, before slipping the cigar into his index and middle finger.

The profound scent of cigarettes distributed throughout the shop and puffs of smoke drifted across the room. ”Bad news, lady. We’re out of stock on that one. The sheep that produces the supply we need are in shortage and they appear to be dangerous animals. I’m sorry but we can’t do anything about it.” The man shrugged, placing the cigar back into his mouth and inhaled sharply. How can a sheep be dangerous?, the thought crossed her mind. As stubborn as she is, the girl did not plan to leave the store until she obtained the blanket she desired.

”Is there any way I can help to get the wool? I really need the blanket.” The man seemed to be astonished by the comment Snowflake had just made. With just a hint of a smile resting at the corners of his lips, the man replied, ”Of course, if you help us catch the animals needed.”

An unknown voice caused the girl to turn around, only to be greeted by a young maiden of rather similar looks as Snowflake. ”Hm?” As silver hues crossed over the gaze of sanguine, she wondered who the woman was, although it was none of her concern. The Ice wizard crossed her hands over her chest, her eyes gently closed and murmured, ”Seems like we’re looking for the same kind. I don’t mind.” Her dark eyeslashes fluttered open as silvery pools glided over towards the store owner. ”So, where do we find the wool?” The man gestured the two of them to follow after him, leading them towards the door that was hidden at the far back of the store.

The rays of sunlight almost blinded her until the vicinity of verdant trees and grass came into her vision. A wooden fence was firmly established around the area and within the structure was a flock of chickens, pigs and sheeps. ”We get everything here so it’s easy for us to make the materials. But the sheep have been acting weird recently and we can’t even lay a hand on them. Please help us with get the wool and we’ll make the blankets right away for you.”

Harsh gales blew across the land, wafting her cerulean hair with the momentum of the wind as she walked up towards the fence. ”Well, I’ll leave the rest to you two. Come call me when you’re done!” Grinning, the man departed, closing the door behind them and left her no choice but to deal with the animals to obtain the material she wanted. Bright grey pools glided towards the new girl and uttered, her eyes as dead as those of fishes and her tone gentle yet, extremely icy, ”So, do you have any idea how we should start?”

Just as Snowflake was about to climb over the fence, the other blue haired girl stated that these sort of sheep had the wrong material for the wool they wanted. Unsure if the other girl was right or not about her statement, Snowflake was indecisive to follow her since she was slightly skeptical about her. After all, they had just met but the young woman seemed to know what kind of material source she wanted. Having no choice, the Ice wizard decided to follow the steps of the girl, whose name was yet unknown. According to the direction they were travelling, it seemed to be the Spooky Forest. Snowflake had read tons of book about the country of Fiore while she was in her kingdom, mostly about the places and magic they had discovered, so she was well-aware of certain locations, or at least knew where she was going.

The tall trees of the Spooky Forest towered above her height, almost making her seem like a minute human and the wildness of gorse bushes growing all around her. There seemed to be a mysterious aura about the forest, that she could detect with her magic presence; a premonition of something unpleasant but she quickly pushed her thoughts to the back of her mind. The forest, itself, was rather odd and frightening but none of her expressions displayed any fear or panic, nor she has any feelings to be terrified. Silvery orbs involuntarily glanced outwards into the woods, and the shadows that resided within the trees were dark enough to block almost all the sunlight out.

Unable to answer, the young girl stared at the ground for a brief moment as her partner would introduce herself as Dimaria Stark. This was the first time someone had commented that her name was strange. Most of the time it was either ’beautiful’ or ’cute’ or something that mentioned that her name really suited her. It wasn’t that she was really bothered by it, nor did she care but it was a rather strange remark about her name. ”Is that supposed to be a compliment?” The girl stated, staring ahead of her passage and added, ”Snow sounds fine, I suppose.” Along with the howling of the wind was unusual animal sounds until she realized it was pigs grunting within the forest.

Unlike normal livestock, these pigs were certainly different from the rest – as if there was an odd demeanor around them, not to mention, they were eager to hunt down the two mages. ”Mhm.” With a single nod, the girl pulled out her Dust Rapier from its sheath and glistened in the dark. One of her finger was placed on the metal prongs that was close to the hilt of the sword, easily accessible so that she could switch her coloured dust whenever she wanted. There were three piglets surrounding them, growling and grunting as if they were threatening them somehow.

The Ice wizard took a battle stance, her left arm slightly pressed against her back, her chest broad while her Dust Rapier pointed straight towards the piglets. ”Yeah, nice plan.” she agreed on each of them taking care of a single piglet. The pig grunted once again before charging towards her but with her agility, she was able to evade attacks faster than normal mages. Her feet were as if it was sliding through ice, nimble and light. Swiftly, the girl raised her sword and slashed the piglet in half sideways, executing the wild animal with a single stroke. The fight was over and she would immediately return to her original battle stance once again. The two piglets were easily defeated while the last one managed to escape, although it seemed that Dimaria was persistent of chasing the final pig, thus, leaving her no other option but to follow her.

Snowflake trudged through the forest, trailing along Dimaria’s steps as they searched for the last piggy. She felt a sudden surge of aura within the surroundings and stalled her speed instantly, her eyes peeling for any enemies that might be perceived within her vision. ”Slow down. Don’t you feel something strange?” She tried to remain as quiet as she could since she was relying on her senses to find her prey.

Resolute – a trait that both Snowflake and her partners had, seeing how she wouldn’t even budge to listen to her request. A sigh escaped her lips before she felt numerous pairs of eyes staring at the two of them. The source of the material they wanted, the sheep that is, was standing at a distance as if it was the leader of the animal gang they had, which looked pretty ridiculous to her. The girl assumed that the pig that escaped before must have reported back to its comrades now that every single wild animal is after the two of them. The sheep looked absolutely determined not to give its fur to them but Snowflake would make it her possession even if she has to force her way out of it. It was her blanket and she will take it, no matter what.

”I’ll leave the pigs up to you.” she said and turned herself to face in the direction of the chickens. There were ten of them and it obviously wasn’t a small number for her to take care of. Now, what would chickens normally do when they try to attack? Peck. The Ice wizard nodded at herself after she found the result of her own question. ”Well then, let’s begin.” With a hint of a smile, she would take a battle stance once again and hoisted up her Dust Rapier.

The advantage of her magic was that she is able to spot the vital areas of any enemy she encounters. Silver orbs scanned over the bodies of the chickens and her eyes witnessed the exact locations of their organs before a nasty smirk grew on her lips. ”Found your nice spot.” she whispered to herself as she summoned a glyph under her feet with a swift movement of her weapon.


With the assistance of the glyph that would gradually boost up her speed, the girl would move ever so gently, yet rapid, around the chickens as she slashed and stabbed at their organs within a blink of an eye. Her speed and her blade was not to be underestimated of. The duelist quickly placed her weapon back into its sheath and glanced down at the wet splatter of blood that flooded the soil. ”Ah, it was an exquisite dance of blades.” She murmured to herself, closing her eyes only to open them again. ”But, not beautiful enough.”

The chickens’ life blood flowed out in slow pulses, each weaker than the one before until it came to a final dead beat. The girl wondered if she should bring the chickens back to her house so she could at least cook the meat and have a nice feast for herself – not to mention, she could save up the food for weeks if she brought the dead pigs as well. For a brief moment, the young duelist was struggling with the thought whether to bring the deceased animals with her or not, while her partner was dealing with the remaining sheep. It appeared that she single-handedly killed both the animals alone. Now that they obtained what they wanted, the two of them began to set out back to the store of their client.

Walking back from the Spooky Forest would be a long journey, which was why Snowflake decided to rent a carriage for the both of them. The coachman of the carriage was throwing skeptical glances towards them since they were carrying a dead sheep, although it was smart enough of him to never brought up the topic during their whole ride. Dimaria was responsible of carrying the sheep back to the store, however, considering how heavy the animal might be, Snowflake suggested that she would help her carry it as well.
