Keianna D-Rank to C-Rank

First time I have seen someone do so much D-rank quests. Experience checks out. PM or ask your guildmaster to do the exam with you. Good luck.

Note: Yantaos Umeros is just a quick NPC specifically for ths exam and is a C-rank, just like what you want to be. His magic would be Rift Magic, my own creation. The goal for this exam? Well he'll tell you.

At the headquarters of the dark guild, Yantaos Umeros rubbed the back of his head as he sat at the edge of the training grounds within the complex, his fingers fighting against each other as he waited in impatience, wondering where this girl, one of his fellow mages, was for her exam towards a higher rank. What was her name again? He tried to recall, as his hand, with a golden ring on its index finger, gave a snap and the sand that lined the ground just beside him swirled around a mini-rift he created.

It was pretty bad, the situation of Shadow Wing. Even though they were under the guardianship of Harbinger of Death, there have been some recent power struggles over who would be guildmaster. Yantaos had no such interest in the position, being a person who desired a simple rest over all the riches in the world, but the struggle has resulted in much debate over who would do exams for younger mages, thus it was put by ballot. And Yantaos got the short straw.

"Damn it......" He moaned as he rubbed his hand over his eyes and looked straight up to the sky, waiting for the young mage, whose name he now remembered as Keilunna. Or was he wrong? Well, he did not really care.

Dang it. Looks like he got the wrong name. Keianna, not Keilunna. Bah, it was just a small difference. Nothing to be ashamed about. Upon the sight of the little girl, Yantaos got back up to his feet as he scratched the back of his head, wondering whether it was really this little girl that he was supposed to be in charge of. No matter, he might as well stretch out a bit. At first, Yantaos felt like just warpping right in front of the girl and start the fight. There was little need in having etiquette or organization in a dark mage's examination. The rules were just so simple: if you were strong, you advance in rank. Nothing else was needed; not much effort was needed to be placed in other unnecessary aspects.

But Yantaos felt a small pang of pity upon sight of the girl, though he was sure that her small frame hid a very large and powerful personality fitting for a dark mage, but Yantaos was very quick to judge a book by its cover. He was at least tall enough for Keianna to only reach up to just above his waist and he was sure that he could easily pummel to bits, if he wanted to. In his mind, Yantaos knew he outmatched her in both experience and power. And thus he pitied that he had to be the one to test her.

Unfortunately that would do little to help her. Because while he was one to pity people and judge them by their covers, he was also one who never give his opponents a chance. His magic demanded it, Yantaos knew that, as he waved his hand and open a rift. With a simple jab into the rift, Yantaos instantaneously shifted through the rift and through a second one just behind her, now stood just behind Keianna's back, his mouth just beside her ears as he hissed hostilely, his battle persona revving up in the beginning of the fight. "Good to meet you. My name is Yantaos. Let's begin."

"Haha, I can do this." The girl's confidence was indeed quite stunning. As they faced each other on the battlefield, a sea of merely dark rock and only small pockets the sparse rotten tree, Yantaos raised an eyebrow at the girl's words. Was it surprise he felt? He did not know. Either way, she got the gist quick enough, after their little trip throughout the headquarters. Actually, what he had in mind was not really a fight. It was a chase and this large field should do just fine with that. "All you need to do is to touch my head and you can pass this exam." Simple, simple objectives. But they would so terribly hard to accomplish for this little girl.

His eyes dodging to the pockets of trees to his right, Yantaos blinked as he summoned a large three-metre rift to suck in and rip about two of the trees into his own little rift dimension. His eyes then turned back towards Keianna, standing a good twenty metres away from him, and then he blinked again. A second rift, a black break in space, spawned right on top of her, sending the massive debris of broken wood plummeting down on top of the girl, while the man watched for how she reacted to the threat. At the same time, in response to her rapier, Yantaos drew his sword, a 2-meter-long Strong nodachi, that he then held down towards the ground with a low two-handed guard. He readied himself to strike with a Warp-Stab if the girl tried to dodge the debris rather than face the threat head-on.

Unfortunately for her, Keianna had moved to dodge the trees, not taking them head-on like he had wanted. And so with a sigh, Yantaos preparation allowed him strike before she could unleash the two attacks that she did. "Rift: Yari." Yantaos murmured under his breath as he thrust his nodachi straight into the air, just as a mini-rift opened to receive the tip of his sword. In the next second, another rift appeared just ahead of Keianna's chest, allowing the teleported sword tip to stab straight at her. It might skewered her if she was not careful. It was at this same time that Keianna jumped into the air, prompting a small grin from Yantaos at her dodge of his blade. But when she sent out those pressurized air cutters straight at him, Yantaos just shook his head as he extended out a finger at the air waves. "Rift," He muttered with a sigh as a second rift, this time as large as him, took in the Pressurized Air Slashes. "U-Turn." He completed his D-rank spell as the blue-black rift rotated 180 degrees, before unleashing the absorbed Pressurized Air Slashes straight back at Keianna from the other side of the rift. It was at this moment that Keianna was diving straight towards Yantaos and thus straight towards the Air Slashes that were now targeting her. Unless she had some spell that could help move her in the air, there was no way she can dodge those slashes. Only thing she could do was to block them or counter them in the split seconds that followed.
"Keep up the assault, little girl. You are getting there." Yantaos nodded as he re-positioned himself back to his Rift: Yari sword stance, instead this time he intends to unleash the C-rank version of it if Keianna tried to get close.

This girl has sorely missed the point. All she needed to do was to touch his head. And in her flurry of blows, she had forgotten her objective. How pathetic. How can a dark mage expect to succeed in their cause if they diverge away from the cause in the first place? They would utterly fail no matter what, spending time on their own little joys rather than their true necessary goal. Seeing that the girl being empowered and boosted by her lineage, Yantaos barely bothered with the girl as she tried to hit him with her Pressurized slash, the girl having taken this chance to try and attack him rather than touching his hand. How disappointing. Simply raising his sword up over his head and slightly tilted downwards would cause the girl's magic-empowered rapier to harmlessly slide down the sword's edge, wasting the explosive magical energy behind the magical slash into a shower of dust and debris that spurt up into the air. "Is that all you can do?" Yantaos challenged Keianna as he quickly took the advantage to turn his nodachi up, before slicing it down at Keianna in an attempt to get her to jump back.

Much to his mediocre surprise, though, before he could attack with the above-mentioned attack, Keinana had dived right in at him with her rapier already thrusting at him in a flurry of light and furious attacks. They were obviously intended to only wound him bit by bit, wear him down to a weakened state. Holding back his intended attack, Yantaos gritted his teeth as he stabbed his nodachi's tip into the ground, holding the sword in a backhand fashion, before drawing the sword out of the ground in a large defensive arc, pulling up a wall of sand and dust just as Keinana tried to attack him with her rapier, hence causing the girl's attack to be just a tad short of him as Yantaos took a step back, the thrusts from the rapier ending just an inch away from his chest. Close, it was close. Yantaos noticed it as he realigned his nodachi's edge back towards Keinana, sending another slice through the thin sand wall at the girl. That was just when Keinana was jumping back to her position, causing Yantaos to have a clean miss with his long blade. "Taking a step back, girl? What a failed chance for you." He chided with a sigh, as he readied himself for her next attack.

Up next, as the dust swirled in the battlefield's air, a large thick beam of energy suddenly charging straight at him, prompting Yantaos to bring his sword down to a low two-handed guard, preparing for his retaliatory spell. The beam came hurtling towards him, before Yantaos thrust out his sword tip straight at the beam in a furious flurry of magically enhanced stabs, each stab piercing through a rift to pop out from another rift just in front of the beam to strike it head on. The overall barrage of piercing strikes, appearing as a simple storm of blade tips striking out, ripped the lower-ranked spell apart into harmless shreds of magical energy, fading away uselessly into the air while Yantaos said softly the name of his C-rank spell. "Rift: Buto Yari. This is how strong a C-rank should be, Keianna." As he halted his furious stabbing and brought his 2-meter sword back such that it was now held horizontally under his chin, its blade pointed behind him and away from the girl, just as a 10-feet-wide magical sphere of pressure formed around them. No doubt one of Keianna's spells, Yantaos thought as his creased eyes watched through the smoke and dust for the girl's silouette. None of it, most likely due to her small size, was visible. "Tch...." His sword's long length was too cumbersome in the small space and thus Yantaos lowered his guard a bit lower to save up space, such that his blade's tip pointed diagonally towards the ground behind him. As his eyes scanned the sphere he was forced inside in, Yantaos wondered why Keianna thought he could not simply just teleport out of her little prison. It was most likely a trap. "Alright then, I'll take up your bluff, girl." But he would do it with a twist. Stabbing the ground with his nodachi, Yantaos focused to summon another one of his C-rank spells. "Rift: Grand Transport!" He announced to the skies as a large magical seal, twice as large as the sphere, expanded around it, before collapsing into a massive 20-feet-wide rift.

Within a blink of an eye, Yantaos pushed his spell to its maximum limit, teleporting everything within the rift, the Pressurized Sphere, a massive chunk of the ground and everyone within the spell's range up 100 metres into the air, straight up into the dangerous midst of the blue sky. For a moment, inertia meant that everything that was brought up stayed still in mid-air for a few seconds, even going up due to the momentum. But eventually, gravity took over, as everything that had come up was now forced to come down. For Yantaos, his familiarity with this situation allowed him to stay calm, as he kept his balance and weight straight, so that he could remain upright during the fall. As the wind rushed over him in his descent, Yantaos made sure he remained out-of-contact with the Pressurized Sphere that was falling with him, keeping an eye out for his potential attacker.

OOC: Descent will be 20 meters down towards the ground per post. This is a time limit. If you cannot touch my NPC's head by 5 posts, you will smash to the ground, break some bones, lose consciousness and fail the exam. I'm serious. >.<

[color=white]"Impressive...." Yantaos felt himself give two blinks of surprise at the fact that Keianna did not appear from the rift above him. Instead, the girl had swiftly gotten out of the range of the rift and now, exceeding his expectations, was using her strength and magical power to try and jump up 100 metres into the air in order to touch him. "Your physical might impresses me, little girl......" Yantaos praised Keianna as he turned to look down towards the ground, the air sailing across his body while his eyes watched the little silhouette of Keianna that was heading straight up for him, her hand stretched out in an attempt to touch his head. As she got closer, from 50 metres apart, to 30 metres, to 10 metres, each bound into the air propelling her up towards Yantaos, it might seem very likely that she would indeed be able to touch him. Only one problem, though. "Aren't you forgetting something?" Yantaos grinned as he pointed out Keianna's Pressurized Sphere that Keianna had surrounded him with just a short while ago. Right now, having been teleported by his much larger spell, the sphere was still surrounding him and falling with hiim, just as Keianna was approaching him in the air. "I'm guessing....," Yantaos pursed his lips as his finger skirted just barely over the Sphere's glowing walls, just between him and the little girl. "That if you touch this sphere, you yourself will be hit by the effect it has. Am I right? So what will you do? Shall you take the sphere head-on, in an attempt to touch me, or will you wait it out?" Yantaos smirked as he watched Keianna, eager for her reaction at this sudden obstacle.

Impressive. She just won't give up, huh? Yantaos shook his head in slight moody awe at the girl trying to do another jump at him again, despite how much energy she was sure to have expended in her previous attempt. Not to mention the fact that one of her arms were now stunned and rendered useless by the effect of her own sphere and yet now, she is trying again with just one arm. What a determined girl. As his body fully slipped out of the rift, faster than Keianna had thought he would take(OOC: You seriously thought Yantaos was still in the second rift? Fine, I'll play along.), Yantaos turned himself over upright in mid-air as the entire mass of debris, ground and all, was now 60 metres above the ground, hurtling straight down towards it. Just as Keianna, who was shouting words of self-encouragement and spurning herself on, shot straight past him from her leap of an airborne rock. Obviously she had intended to go directly for his head, but it seemed like her jump had been too strong, a surprise to Yantaos given his expectation of her gradually eroding stamina, causing the girl to go a little too high and a bit wide of Yantaos. "Hmm...." Yantaos gazed at Keianna as she quickly compensated for her mistake, having reached out with her functional arm, grabbed him by the back of his jacket, trying to stay on him in an obvious attempt to get his head. He was largely unaffected by this maneuver. After all, he was familiar with mid-air combat and he could have easily swatted off the girl off his back, or even sliced her into half with his sword in her exposed position, but as his eyes watched the short girl on his back, struggling with his height, and her stubbornness in the face of her difficulties, he felt a little sense of respect for the D-rank mage, while she tried to flail her disabled arm at his head in an attempt to get it.

Or should he say, C-rank mage, as, be it by her effort or fate, Keianna's middle finger extended just a tiny bit and just scrapped the back of his head. "Congratulations...." Yantaos nodded as he saw that Keianna had closed her eyes in focus of trying to get her hand to his head. With a simple flourish, this time a bit more serious to prevent the girl from dodging it, Yantaos' right arm swirled around as he deftly spun his body about, knocking Keianna off his back and allowing his vein-ridden hand to completely grip Keianna's face and completely have her head in his mercy. "You pass...." Yantaos whispered to the helpless girl gently, before dulling out the traditional congratulations: swerving his arm and Keianna over his head, Yantaos built up momentum in his quarry, before flinging her straight down to the ground now 50 meters below with pure brute force, the crater-creating impact cleanly able to knock even someone as physically strong as the girl completely out.
