- Player's Note (PLEASE READ):
- Your character is, of course, completely allowed to be transphobic towards Nova IC (especially if you play a dark character or a jerk), but please keep any personal transphobic opinions to yourself in OOC conversation. I appreciate you reading this, thank you.
Name: Nova Meteoron
Gender: Non-binary, uses they/them (instead of guy or girl, call them an enby)
Age: 17, March 12
Sexuality: Demisexual (panromantic)
Special Characteristics: Minor scoliosis and deformation of their ribs, thanks to binding improperly.
- Personality:
- Nova Meteoron was raised just outside a small town in Minstrel, to a wealthy couple owning a ranch and hundreds of acres of farm and grazing land. Nova's mother, after their birth, descended into alcoholism, while Nova's father just stood by and let it happen. The Meteoron's family was little more than an improvised coverup- a shotgun wedding after a couple nights that neither newly minted spouse and parent could remember. They had hastily agreed to get married to save face, and as much love as this new father had for his child, he lacked in love and concern for his wife. This especially didn't bode well for Nova, who decided after six years that they'd had enough of pretending to be a girl for their parents. This lead to especially long arguments between Nova's mother and father, both yelling and at least one drunk. Meanwhile, Nova cut their hair, started wearing a mixture of "guy" and "girl" clothes and using they them pronouns, and- upon reaching puberty- began binding their chest, originally using improper bandages and things that eventually warped their ribs and spine slightly, causing Nova pain that still lasts, though they now have access to proper magic binders. Their parents were horrified, and attempted to keep this hidden, threatening to keep Nova's inheritance from them, insisting the inheritance was for their "daughter", not an enby. Eventually, Nova left, determined to make their own fortune, end ignorance, and to find a family in which they would belong.
Growing up as they did, Nova is incredibly shy, and suffers from major anxiety in most social situations. Give them combat and life or death situations any day, so long as they don't have to talk to people. Introverted doesnt do them justice; they rarely speak more than five sentences in a conversation, and that's pushing the limits. They also don't think very highly of themselves, treating themselves as an expendable variable. They are strong willed when it comes to a task, provided it doesn't involve human interaction, and perform duties to the best of their abilities. It is possible to befriend them, but whenever they are interacted with they break down into nervous laughter. This makes it incredibly difficult for them to get close to someone romantically, though they have many crushes, especially considering that most of those people assume they're either a guy or a girl. It is difficult and draining for Nova to keep repeating explanations and arguing over their existence, so they don't like to discuss their gender often, though it comes up fairly regularly.
In battle, Nova is selfless, making quick decisions and reasonable judgements. They tend to value the lives of others around them above their own, regardless of their opinions on Nova and other enbys. They are fast and moderately strong for their size, but lack stamina and dexterity. As a leader, Nova is detached and uncomfortable, but is good at giving orders. Under a leader, Nova is excellent at following orders to the letter, but does not do well with getting close to a team.
- Stars- Nova feels comforted by the infinite number of stars, of lights too numerous to count that outshine the darkness in life.
- Sweet Fruits- Nova isn't a huge chocolate fan, but set down a plate of strawberries in front of them and it'll be gone in a heartbeat.
- Kindness- They know too well what it's like to be beaten down by the mean people in this world, so even small acts of kindness done by others is something praiseworthy to them.
Dislikes:
- Rude People- Any time someone is mean to them, it makes them feel unwelcome and outcasted by society.
- Loud Noise- Any unnatural blaring sounds, like fireworks or the roar of a crowd,
cause them to have headaches. - Extreme temperatures- Nova, being a petite person, cannot stand anything above 85°F or below 35°F without getting sick.
Motivations:
- Acceptance- Coming from an abusive home, Nova seeks, a group who will accept them for who they are, above anything else.
- Love- They seek someone to love them romantically.
- Wealth- They believe that money can buy their happiness. Money buys attention, attention buys visibility, and visibility buys normativity, which Nova believes is the key to people accepting them.
Fears:
- Dark- whether it be evil, an unknown, or just nighttime, Nova is scared of anything relating to darkness.
- Rejection- They are afraid of people seeing them for who they are.
- Duality- Conversely, Nova is terrified of pretending to be someone they're not (pretending to be a guy or girl because that's how everyone sees them, as an example), and not being true to themselves.
- Yelling- They panic and start shaking when someone, especially people older and larger than them, screams at them angrily.
