Crocus, a city of wealthy pigs and even wealthier boars. A place where there weren't many poor, only those working dead beat jobs to pay off their rest in this colossus of a city. The place, funnily enough, was to Indar's liking, it was easy to kill a target here, cause a mess big enough and no one will notice another lying sack of potatoes going missing. They'll be replaced by another just as same in a few days regardless. And that new one will be killed off in a month or two, just like the one they replaced. It was an endless cycle, one that seemed tragic to most, but to people like Indar, basically assassins then, it was an endless cycle of wealth, as all these kills would bring in money and even more money. It was great!
But everything has a downside, like this cycle, as they always increased security, well not when the politician thought they were loved by the people. Those were the easiest to hunt down, never put up a fight either, usually a clean kill. Something which Indar enjoyed, no hassle, just feed them a bullet, collect your reward and vanish. Job done and pay gotten, nothing easier in life. Though this time, it may be a tad harder to complete it so easy.
The politician Indar was hunting was loved by the poor and did a whole lot for them, something which the usual clients hated. It was obvious this man was to be hunted down sooner or later, as someone catering to the poor always makes the rich and wealthy angry. Who's gonna serve them and their fat wallets when everyone is doing well, they can't be porky piggies anymore, swimming in their wealth like ducks in a pond. So naturally, they had turned to Savage Skull for some needed headache relief. A nice idea, one that's a bit costly, but not too severe.
There were some annoying conditions though, stuff that would make this harder to do. Firstly, there had to be no connections to the ones ordering this killing, this was easy to do, just splatter a dark guild mark or leave some note there. Or make it seem like a serial killer and wipe out some neighbors as well. There were ways to hide it being an assassination. They also wanted to avoid it looking like an accident, fair enough on that part, this wasn't something Indar was good at. He could push someone off the cliff like the next guy, but this just made it way too mundane and boring, the man rather avoided this nuisance of a thing. The third requirement, was what made Indar gringe, doing the killing in public was simple with a small blade, but then claiming it as his, was the thing that bothered him to no end. He had hunters after him, ones who smelled his sweat from miles away and just showing his face in public like that would put them on him.
Now he wasn't afraid of them, but it was such a nuisance dealing with hunters again and again and again. Not only did they waste his time, they were persistent so you had to make sure you got all of them. Or the survivors would gather more hunters and come again, it was incredibly stupid and annoying. At least if they show up this time, he could leave Harrigan to deal with the poor sods. This was another thing about today's little pest control. Another member of Savage Skull was with Indar on this job, though they traveled separately, as per usual for members of the guild at most times, unless they shared closer ties, which from the man's experience very few did.
And as per usual, the young guy had reached Crocus alone and headed to the small pub, called the Smiling Corpse, where they'd meet up. The place was on the outskirts of the huge town, hidden away, but known to all of the underworld as a place for the worst of society to go to. The place was quite nice actually, as the money that came in was quite big, so the furniture was top class and the drinks were great. Speaking of drinks, that's what Indar got for himself, a glass of cold whiskey, to help him spend the time while waiting for his job ''partner'' Harrigan. The idea of calling him a regular member was making the man chuckle inside still. Seeing how this job would go, would be amusing if anything.
