Chains of Resonance
Caster or Holder: Holder
Description:
The Chains of Resonance is magic that relies on the principle that every particle vibrates uniquely and thus each object has a unique resonant frequency. Using this magic the user is able to manipulate these vibrations to perform various effects. Such effects could be using sound for echolocations, using vibrations to increase the sharpness of an object or to neutralise effects.
The focus for these is a special pair of tonfa and what is unique about these is that they are actually what absorbs and stores the eternano as the user themselves is unable to store eternano any longer due to incidents in their past. However, they can channel the eternano from the tonfa into their body and then expel it via, for example, a whistle to launch a bullet of sound.
However, why is this called chains of resonance and not tonfa of resonance or simply resonance. The reason is simple. The tonfa are able to extend chains and it is the rattling of these chains and the thud of them hitting objects that is a primary focus for the resonant abilities of the magic. These chains can be manipulated via resonance giving themselves a life of their own almost.
If you were to think of it is is a mixture of chain magic, wave magic and sound magic.

Strengths:
- Highly versatile
- Great for crowd control
- Is entirely non-lethal which suits the user
Weaknesses:
- The vibrations are for the most part vibrating air and so could be eaten by sky slayers
- Is entirely non-lethal
- Relies on the user having access to the tonfa, or at least touching their body
- Not stealthy at all
Lineage:
- Gingerbread man:
Description: "Run and run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man."
Know the story of the Gingerbread Man? That obnoxious little dough stain that always runs faster than anyone else, running so fast that no matter how fast people try to run, they can never catch him. Until one man caught him of course. In a confrontation with this little prankish devil after a promise to the people to take him down, this man, whose name faded from history, chased him down for 7 years, 7 months and 7 days, around the world and through time and space, until one day, he did the impossible and caught the little guy purely based on his own speed, rather than relying on the cunning that the fox in the classic utilized. The tremendous feat that broke the impossible resulted in the creation of a legend and the power behind this legend gave those of this man's blood supernatural agility and speed, but with a twist. Reenacting the chase that gave them this power, users of this ability have Absolute Speed.
"Run and run as fast as you can. You can't escape me, I'm the Gingerbread Man."
Ability: Absolute Speed, the world's most powerful speed ability. It is an ability not based on adding just raw speed to the user, but on comparing the user's speed against the speed of the opponent the user is fighting. As a result when this ability is active, no matter the speed or reflexes of the opponent, the gingerbread man user is always faster. ALWAYS. Not even light-speed can keep up, but being able to exceed it would depend on the rank of the user. When used, the spell adds the speed of the fastest opponent/projectile in the field to their own, making them always dominant in the speed factor but has no effect if nothing is moving.
Usage: Moving so fast however may break one's body, especially when the opponent is much faster than your base speed. Thus, the limit for users is 2 uses per thread, lasting 1 post each, with 6 post cool down. The user's rank also limits the max speed their still human bodies can take, with bullet-speed (1200 m/s) as the limit for C-rank and below, Mach 100(34000 m/s) for B-rank, lightning(6000 km/s) for A-rank and light(300,000 km/s) for S-rank or higher.
The user is reduced in speed by 50% after using this and feels exhausted, both for 5 posts (reducing by 10% per post)
- Extendable chains: From the tonfa that the user wields they are able to extend chains which have a small spike at the end. These chains can extend up to 20ft in length(increases by 20ft per rank) and will do user rank melee damage + weapon damage. This weapon damage increases as the user ranks up. At D rank its weak rank, at C rank its strong, at B rank its legendary, at A rank its legendary + and at S rank its artefact(+). The user can launch these off as a projectile to stab into a target or into a wall. They can also swing them like whips. The user most commonly uses these for movement. These are a key aspect of the magic and if fired off will reach their max range in a second, and retract equally as quickly.
- Echolocation: The user sends out a continuous wave of sound by twirling one of the tonfa. Whilst this is twirling the user can map out the area within a certain radius of them including the location of people, even if they are inside buildings. Though of course, he can't identify who they are exactly unless he recognises their resonant frequency. This radius starts off at 100ft and increases by that each rank.
- Team Speak: The user is able to set up a 'team speak' channel for up to five people(including themselves) providing they remain within 100ft of the user. If the targets focus and whisper or even speak entirely under their breath then they can speak directly to the 'party'. This 100ft range increases by 100ft each rank and the number of people it can be used with increases by 1 each rank.
- D ranks:
- Sound Rifle:
Type: Offensive
Duration: Three posts
Cooldown: Four posts
Description:
With this the user whistles, or otherwise makes a small noise, charging their body with resonant energy. This resonant energy allowed them to generate bullets of sound within 10ft of them that can be fired in any direction. These have a maximum range of 65ft and this is covered in one second. Each bullet will only do 3hp damage, but the user is able to generate up to four of these bullets per post
Strengths:- Good speed
- Decent range
Weaknesses:- Linear direction
- Cannot be used if user is silenced
- Can be easily blocked with a D rank barrier
- Good speed
- Weak Point Detection:
Type: Buff
Duration: Next attack
Cooldown: 3 posts
Description: With this the user strikes a target sending a vibration through it and this vibration feeds back to the user allowing them to assess a 'weak point' in them. This weak point will allow the next attack that hits them (from the user) to do an extra 20hp damage.
Strengths:- Increases damage
Weaknesses:- Has to hit target for this to be used
- Doesn't gurantee the hit of the next attack so if it misses this attack was wasted
- Increases damage
- Chain Jail:
Type: Restriction
Duration: 3 posts
Cooldown: 4 posts
Description: With this the user strikes the target with one of their chains. This causes the chain to detach (though it reforms inside the tonfa) and bind the target like a boa constrictor essentially holding them still. This doesn't prevent them using magic or moving entirely, but it does restrict it quite a bit. A c rank mage with some sort of strength buff should be able to break free from these via pure strength. Otherwise it can put the target at the user's mercy. The range of this spell is equal to the length of the chains the user is able to produce with the unique ability extendable chains.
Strengths:- Ties up target reducing movement
- Puts target at risk
Weaknesses:- Can be easily breaken out of by C ranks and above
- Doesn't stop movement entirely
- Doesn't stop magic usage
- Ties up target reducing movement
- Resonant Armor:
Type: Defensive
Duration: 3 posts
Cooldown: 4 posts
Description: With this the user makes a noise in some way and their body, or the body of an ally (if they are within 65ft), is surrounded by a layer of vibrations. This layer of vibrations protects them from harm. For the next three posts all damage is reduced by 20%.
Strengths:- Reduces damage
Weaknesses:- Can only defend one user
- Has to make a noise for it to work
- Reduces damage
