It was once again time for the annual Rose Garden blood drive. Though, it was strange to the musician. It felt just like yesterday she was here for the first time, nearly fainting at the sight of blood, nothing on her but a violin and the Black Rose guild mark, a simple novice mage who had yet to make a name for herself.
But now... So much had changed since then. She had been through so much... She felt like a completely different person. Older, tougher... Maybe a little wiser. That Astrid from so long ago almost felt like an entire other being. Nothing compared to what she was now.
She played, and she left. This was one of the first ever places the name 'Astrid Foss' began to circle around. Who knows, maybe it was this very place that really did begin her climb to fame...
All because a little girl tugged on her dress and ask for her to play.
"... Miss Foss?" A light call of the ace's name managed to bring her back to reality, snapping her back from her nostalgic thoughts.
She blinked crimson optics away from the green painted wall up towards a taller woman, with neatly braided black hair and red framed glasses. Clearly a nurse, as she wore the usual white nurse uniform and held a clipboard firmly within her grasp.
She smiled gently, holding out a hand for the slayer to shake.
"It's good to see you again. Welcome back."
See her again... Did she know this nurse? She wasn't quite sure. She was terrible with matching names to faces unless she knew the person well... Maybe she had been a nurse here back the last time Astrid had visited...
It took the light mage a few seconds before she finally moved her hand to meet her's, giving it a small shake.
"It's good to be back." The short girl smiled back, pushing away the always questioning part of her mind as she let go and dropped her hand back to her side, using the other hand to push her thumb under her leather case strap around her chest, grabbing at it tightly.
"Where should i begin?" Astrid questioned, eager to get started and revisit and get lost in the nostalgia where she truly felt like her adventure began.
"Where you worked last time. The waiting room. Follow me, please."
The waiting room, where she was last time. That could have been the best possible answer. Not just because she wanted to revisit it. But simply because... Well, if it were any other room, she would probably get sick from the needles and blood.
With a simple nod, Astrid followed close behind the nurse, a cheery spring in her step.

Kaya Bryndís ♥ Golden Phoenix ♥ D Rank
It was strange to be working at a place where they specifically took blood donations to transfuse into others. It made sense, but still seemed odd for her of all people to be working there. Naturally, the young vampire made it a point to conceal her identity, not daring to let anyone know what she was. In such a place, it could prove to have a negative outcome. Kaya was already in the waiting room, assisting those who had just donated their blood. Naturally, it was probably a good idea that she was not in a room directly around the blood. Her keen senses could already smell the blood underneath the bandages of those who had already done the procedure, and while she was not the type of vampire to go insane from the scent of blood, it was nevertheless enticing.
It was late afternoon, branching into the evening. Typically, Kaya avoided word in the late mornings and the middle of the day. This work was borderline, but members of legal guilds were encouraged to help out, so why refuse without a valid reason? The youthful celestial mage had already given some juice to a young man who was still feeling lightheaded from his blood loss. To keep the blood sugar up of guests, sweet drinks and light snacks like crackers would be offered. Suddenly, the door opened again, but instead of another patient, there was a nurse and another young woman behind her. "Miss Bryndis, this is Miss Astrid Foss. She will be working with you for the next few hours," the nurse introduced as Kaya began to walk towards the two.
"Just call me Kaya," the young vampire said with a pleasant grin, careful to conceal her fangs as she did so. Out she stretched her hand towards Astrid, ready to shake it in an amiable manner.

Kaya... Kaya...
There was something familiar about that name, like she should know it for some reason. She could remember the name leaving her lips before, but could not remember exactly why... Perhaps she had met another person of the same name? It seemed possible enough.
Staring at the hand in front of her for a moment Astrid slowly lifted her hand to shake the mage's daintily in return, pushing forward a small smile.
"Just call me Astrid" she returned the statement, not seeing the need for the girl to use her full name constantly.
The ace placed her hand back under the leather strap of her violin case, tugging at it with the base of her thumb.
"Is this your first time helping donate blood?"

"It is," Kaya responded honestly, with a small smile. This was her first time, yet it was really not too hard of a job at all.
Having not been completely familiar with the members of the Golden Phoenix guild just yet, Kaya new almost next to none of her guildmates even on a level of simply being acquainted. As such, the name Astrid Foss did ring a bell somehow, but not for the reasons one would expect. It was only upon shaking her hand and hearing what she had just said echoed back in a mirrored way that Kaya could inspect the girl closer. Having a keen eye, bright crimson eyes quickly locked on the silver-haired girl's left hand. The mark was undoubtedly that of a Phoenix, and one that matched the vampire's very own tattoo on her inner wrist.
"So, you're from the Golden Phoenix guild too?" the white-haired girl exclaimed in a cheerful and excited manner before pointing at Astrid's left hand, and lifting her own right arm to extend and show her wrist- featuring a mirrored guildmark. One of her own guildmates was here on the job with her! How exciting!

The light mage's eyes widened at the sight of the girl's guild mark.
Slowly it dawned onto her why her name was so familiar to her now. She had seen it on the new member's report... The same report she accidentally fell asleep on and messed up the fresh ink so it rubbed into an unreadable mess. That had been fun to deal with. And by fun she meant trying not to cry as she redid the entire paper that same night, afraid Elyx would get mad at her for either sleeping on the job or messing up an important paper.
Recalling the events forced the musician's face to lightly flush red for a few seconds, until, she remembered she was talking to someone.
"O-Oh. A fellow member. How lovely" a sheepish smile etched onto her lips, though the rest of her expression still held some awkwardness to them. Maybe not the best meeting conditions, but it was always nice to meet guild members on jobs. In a way it helped to get to know each other. If there was ever a reason she missed their entrance into the guild, this always was a nice alternative.
"The Ace of Topaz at your service, Mademoiselle" Astrid gave a small curtsy, feeling the sudden urge to be a bit more fancy with her greeting after failing to recognize the woman sooner.
Standing back up straight whatever was left the violinist's nervousness managed to melt itself away, clasping her hands together with a smile, a sudden surge of brightness in her eyes, as if meeting a fellow member of the guild gave her some sort of spike in energy.
"Well, Madame Kaya, shall we begin?"
