Zeno was waiting for Enma Kozato to arrive at the main gate of Karakuri City. The young mage had been growing fast in power and skill, and today Zeno wanted to put that to the test. Not long ago Marros Graven passed his test, and Zeno knew both of them wanted to keep up with one another. Today was Enma's chance to prove he was just as powerful as his rival.

Today was a quiet day in the town, and most people were inside enjoying their dinner. There was some wind, and the temperatures were rather low as usual, but it felt refreshing. Zeno stared out into the distance and observed the oriental towers and buildings of the city.

This test was going to be very different.

It seemed Marros was the first of the two to arrive. Zeno was already here, but the person who would be taking the exam was not. He greeted Zeno with a nod and a raised hand, but said nothing. He was here not so much to test Enma, but to test himself against his rival. Of course, the whole point of today was to see if Enma was ready for C-rank stuff like himself, but Marros saw it as a good chance to test himself.

The test was very simply in its own way and Marros had been put in charge of it whilst Zeno would be watching to analyse and see what both of them were capable of. It was also a chance for him to show Zeno exactly what he was capable of now he was C rank. He'd struggled against the guild master before, but he would struggle less now. Then again, Zeno probably had a lot more powerful spells up his sleeve than those he had seen.

He considered his knowledge of Enma. A man who had once been a lightning mage, but now walked along the road of a darkness make mage. A very powerful and versatile magic. If he recalled Enma's style correctly then he was one who valued speed over power. Marros had a couple of speedy forms which should give him some trouble and when combined with the others...he should be able to make this test very challenging.

Zeno nodded in acknowledgement of the presence of his subordinates and spoke immediately.

"All right, your examination will be very simple. We are going to play tag. I will run to the other side of the city, the mountain peak, you have to tag me before I get there. Marros will try to stop you from getting to me. Ready? Set, go!" Zeno explained quickly and dashed off.

He knew he was going to have to hold back his speed a lot for the others to keep up, and for Enma to even have a chance at succeeding. So he decided not to go too fast. He leapt upward, grab onto the edge of a platform on one of the towers, climbed up immediately and disappeared through the window. He was going travel over, under and around many obstacles to make it even more difficult for Enma to follow.

A game of tag? Not what Marros had been expected. He'd been expecting a greater test of his own skill then to stop Enma catching someone he probably wouldn't be able to catch anyway. He knew Zeno wouldn't go all out in his avoidance. If he did then this test would be impossible. It was a good test for someone who favoured agility like Enma, but still....just being an obstacle didn't suit Marros at all. Why was he even here? To make the test more challenging? No, Zeno could easily do that without him. The two of them were rivals that was true, but speed and agility was something he could probably only rival Enma on in one or two of his takeovers. It wasn't a full way of comparing their abilities.

Oh well, it gave him something to do at least. Plus if he had to keep up with Enma to distract him and Enma was trying to catch Zeno then Marros was also trying to keep up with Zeno. It would be a good test of agility, both physical and mental. The target was the mountain. A decent course through this town. He wondered how Enma would 'pass' because Zeno couldn't just let himself be caught. Perhaps if he just did well enough and came close a few times. After all, Marros had fought against Zeno and only won by getting in a single hit. However, it was also because he used his skill. If Enma used his skill and magical strength to a high enough level he'd be worthy of the C rank title.

As Enma flung the shadow copy at Marros he decided to activate one of his more useful takeovers. With this he would be able to keep up with his rival, even if he took to the air. "Upper body of Fujin." Wind swirled over his body and when it cleared his form had changed. His chest was now of a goldish hue and scaled like that of a dragon as were his arms. His arms were of the same length, but were thicker and clawed. He had also gained two large black bat-like wings giving him a wingspan of 12ft. His shoulders had bulked and formed into spikes. This was the partial take over, Upper Body Of Fujin. It gave him the form of the wind dragon demon Fujin. With a casual punch he destroyed the shadow and was relieved that he had made the right choice of takeover because his target took to the skies as well. He knew his rival had guns in this form which made things more difficult as all Marros had was his current form.

He rocketed into the air after his target. The man had got a little distance, but Marros aimed to catch up to him and flew straight at him aiming to knock him out of the sky with a powerful punch to the back. He had not been told to hold back and so he didn't plan to. He suspected Enma capable of dodging such a blow, even if it was a surprise, but it would be a good first test.

The attack was a miss, much to his dismay, but as he shot past he quickly turned it into a rise flying upwards once more, narrowly missing the bullets. However, he wasn't able to quite dodge the blow from the roundhouse kick which, whilst it didn't hit its target, still hit him. It hit him on the back and sent him flying downwards. However, he managed to stop himself hitting the ground narrowly. Of course, this momentary distraction would be enough for his target to gain a little distance towards Zeno. He flew upwards once more, taking to the sky once more. This time he flew up towards the low clouds.

"What's the best way to do this?" he mused as he flew above the clouds. His opponent wouldn't be able to see him unless he too flew up here to deal with Marros, but that would merely be slowing him down and he needed all of his efforts if he wanted to catch Zeno.


Upper body of fujin: 2/4 posts

Marros slowly glided down from below the cloud cover. Not enough so he was visible. Just enough to see. From here he could at least his opponent. Well, opponent was perhaps too strong a word. They weren't competing. Marros was merely an obstacle. There wasn't much he could do though. He needed some sort of ranged attack. He really did. He took a deep breath and then dove down suddenly landing on top of a building. There wasn't a lot he could do with his attacks, but if he got a hold of some materials he could rain them down on his opponent. Fortunately, the building he was on had a few bits and bobs, like plant pots and stones, that he could use and once he had them he took to the sky again returning swiftly to above the cloud cover. He would prepare his attack soon.

He knew though that he couldn't sustain this form for much longer and would have to think of some alternate method of keeping his opponent in check. This wasn't due to him not having the magic power. It was due to him not having the mental strength. The demons who he took over would take over him if he tried to take the forms for too long.

Marros flew through the sky and saw his partner make the clones. However, he also saw which one had made the symbols so he knew which was which. He grinned and threw down several stones at the real Enma. He aimed not do heavy damage, but to just cause a distraction. However, a distraction might not be necessary simply because he too could not see Zeno. Perhaps the clones would locate Zeno, but from here in the sky he couldn't. However, he couldn't stay in the sky any longer and flew down landing on a building. His dragonic form dissapeared and he considered another form. Perhaps if he had a faster form he could do something.

"Limbs of Raijin." he said causing electricity to coat his arms and legs. When it faded his arms and legs had become made of a blue energy. The legs were longer and the arms clawed. They crackled constantly with electricity. This was his fastest form. With that he began to run towards the target location, leaping across the rooftops. If Zeno was going anywhere he would be going towards the target location. He'd get near that location in this form and then stop his opponent somehow.

Marros didn't particularly care that he was going to be stopping a clone. Well, he wouldn't care if he knew. He wasn't particularly aiming to take out Enma or hurt him. He was just trying to make things more difficult. It would be quite interesting to see what his rival would do. As the clone came towards him he leapt at it with an electricity charged punch aiming to hit it in the face and knock his opponent out of the air.

"Let's see if you can take this." he said with a grin as he struck out. He'd be interested to see if his rival could.

Marros did not give chase to the clone simply because he saw no point in wasting time or energy to chase a clone. Besides, it seemed odd that the clone wasn't attempting to fight back. Therefore the only logical reason to him was that the clone was attempting to lure him somewhere perhaps into a trap. He would continue to stand on top of the building waiting. He had seen no sign of Zeno nor had he seen any sign of the real version of Enma. He had to keep an eye out to intercept Enma somehow. After a short while he decided to head a bit closer to the mountain whilst he still had this high speed advantage.

"I wonder how Enma will catch Zeno." he mused.

All of the clones evaporated into the air. The darkness found it's way back to Enma, crawling back inside of him. Memories flowed into him. ONe of the clones found Marros, on his way to the mountain. Enma began to think of ways to go. The path the clone had took was a simple straightway, and Enma decided not to go that way, as that's where Marros was.

Running to the left, Enma took off, crafting a pair of wings and his two guns, flying at a speed to make it to the mountain. The way he was going was a semicircle to the mountain. It was longer than the straightway, but it was the path Marros was not on.

There was no sign of Zeno. No sign of Enma. His path was truly empty. Well, except for the people of the town, but they didn't count. He considered what best to do as his form was coming to its climax. He had to think of what form to use next. If he waited a little while he should be able to use his flight form again, which was probably the most useful at this point. Until then though he would run towards the mountain, when the form wore off he would continue to do so, but at a much slower rate.

Zeno stood at the top of one of the higher towers near the mountain's peak. He gazed down over the city and then into the distance. His guildhall was right in front of him, only half a kilometer away. Enma had very little time left. Zeno looked behind him.

He had disregarded the sounds of battle between Enma and Marros, and had only focused on the road ahead. He had kept his speed constant, but his path irregular and sometimes the tag had become more hide and seek.

Then, a winged Enma appeared not much further to his left. Zeno was pleased to see Enma had kept up. So instead of disappearing from sight, he waited for Enma to spot him and alter his course, before eventually leaping from the current tower to the opposite one.

Zeno grabbed the edge of the oriental roof platform and swung himself through an open window. Enma would probably fly over these towers and time his tackle correctly. So Zeno decided to spice it up and waited inside the tower for Enma to start circling around it.

Marros had too arrived at this point and watched from the floor to see his rival attempting to tackle Zeno. He stood there watching, not doing anything for now. Zeno was doing well enough by himself so there was no real need for him to interfere anymore. Of course, he was able to do something and would, but was waiting for the right moment. Right now was not that moment. However, after two failed tackles the man known as Enma seemed to be getting rather flustered. Marros considered what move to make. All of his forms that were useful at this point in time were known in some way by Enma.

"The towers." Marros said to himself as an idea came to him. One he had not considered before because he had never thought of using anything except the optimum form for an attack. However, the optimum forms were now sub-optimal due to the knowledge of his opponent. Fujin was the optimal form simply because it had flight so could get to Enma easily. This was closely followed by Raijin who could use the speed and a decent run up to jump up to him or something. However, these were not the forms he was going to use. No, instead he would use one of his more power based forms in a way he had never considered using it. "Limbs of Ifrit, Body of Ifrit." he said and fire engulfed all except his head. When the fire cleared he was significantly taller. Those areas which had been covered in flame had now become heavily tanned, heavily muscular and in places like the crotch and chest spouted orange hair. The form was sexless, but this was the almost complete form of Ifrit. Both his hands and feet were clawed and radiated heat. The body provided slightly more defense, but its true ability was to allow him to use the arms to a greater use. Marros felt that to Enma and probably Zeno that this form would look comical. A human head on a demon body. It would look quite strange. However, it would be enough for now.

"Time to see if this works." he said and ran to the bottom of the tower. His form was slower, far slower than Raijin, and even slower than his normal form. However, what it lacked in speed it made up for in power. When he reached the bottom of the towers he leapt with all his might at one and grabbed onto it with his claws before kicking off and leaping onto the other tower. This process was repeated till Marros eventually landed on the top of the oriental tower. However, from here he couldn't do much. Not with the body itself. However, the tower had some odds and ends on it which would make useful projectiles and these he began to throw at Enma. There was quite a large number and most were quite heavy, but not to Ifrit. No, they were light to him and they would hit Enma hard. He wasn't really aiming to hit though. Merely to irritate.
