    Job Link:

Magna, for once, was not in the kitchen of Black Rose. Nor was he out on a mission. He was instead sitting in his room in a meditative state focusing on the animal spirits that resided within him. Recently, they had begun to be a bit more vocal and he had almost had them manifest entirely when he had entered his equivalent of force for the first time. It seemed that the twin monkeys dubbed Toasty and Frosty by him were no the only spirit that resided within him now. The cerberus slayer lacrima had seemingly added a third or manipulated his own soul to form a third spirit. This one was canine in appearance and was almost werewolf like. This was one he was trying to learn about this time, but also the others. The more he used their powers it seemed the more they would make their presence felt. Both Toasty and Frosty had requested him to journey to locations recently and Toasty's had almost got him killed. He needed to know why Toasty had taken him there. Was it so he could encounter the members of the Withered Lotus? But if it was then how had it known?

As he was sitting there a knock came at his door and he sighed in irritation lifting himself up on his hands and flipping over onto his feet heading for the door. He opened it slowly, but no-one was present. He raised an eyebrow and then noted that opposite his room door a note had  been pinned to the wall. He headed over to it and pulled it off the wall reading it slowly. It was a message from the magic council but something seemed off about it. The details however peaked his interest. A seven year old child with the power of an A rank mage who had wiped out a guild by herself? That was a child that needed to be stopped one way or another. Capture was preferable by him and probably by the magic council and that was what he'd go for.

However, the message did worry him. An A rank class mage who could take out a guild was a major threat. He wasn't sure he could handle that solo and yet he didn't have time to go and track down his usual mission partners. Shade, from what he remembered, was away from the guild on a mission herself and he didn't want to bother Jiyu too often, especially after their last job where he had been forced to treat her as a dog to prevent her attacking him. She still hadn't got her revenge. For this reason he headed down to the main tavern area to look for anyone who might be able to help with the job. It was pretty quiet, but a few were about.

"Hey there. Anyone want to come on a mission with me...C rank mages and above only." It would be too dangerous to take a D rank on it though he'd of course try his best to protect them if they did tag along. He'd rather have a higher ranked mage, but whoever came along would be useful.

Ruminal Blackflower • Black Rose • C Rank

Today and for the past week, Ruminal spent his mornings locked away in his room. As of late he hadn't been feeling to well. Unknown to the rest of his guildmates, Ruminal harbored a demon inside of him for at least the past year and a half now. Ever sense he had helped Kaisto with his exam he had slowly started to realize that his mental seal's holding the demon at bay had started to break. The demon was getting stronger somehow and tearing away the seal's one by one trying to take control and free itself. Ruminal was spending his mornings now repairing the seal's as best as he could but it seemed whatever he did meant little. Everyday it seems the same seals needed repairing so all of Ruminal's efforts were merely to slow it down. Ruminal knew he can't keep doing this forever, eventually he would need to come up with a solution but this was the best way for now. He needed to buy as much time as possible to figure out a solution.

When he was finally finished for this morning he noticed the clock and it seemed it kept taking longer and longer for him to repair the seal's each day by mere minutes at a time. That may not seem like much but eventually those minutes will escalate into hours. In time he won't be able to keep up with it even if he spent every waking moment keeping the demon sealed. There were a total of 7 seals inside of him keeping the demon trapped and one keeps breaking on a daily basis. The seal's aren't easy even for Ruminal to get to in his own mind if more than two started breaking at once, he feared the worst. Regardless he had nothing to worry about at this moment in time and Ruminal was ready for some breakfast.

He maid his way down to the main tavern area and ordered his usual breakfast, bacon and eggs with some hash browns and toast. He enjoyed yet another fantastic breakfast, going about his day as if nothing was wrong so is to not worry his other guildmates with his problems. This situation was his burden to bare and his problem to solve. Was then that Magna stormed into the tavern asking around for help on a job he was about to take. He asked that they be at least C rank and it didn't look like there was any takers. He must be taking a dangerous job to be asking for someone at least C rank. However something bugged him, Magna usually went on jobs with Shade and Jiyu. Ruminal knew Jiyu was busy today with other things but wondered why he wouldn't just ask Shade? It must have been one of those rare moments where both his job partners were unavailable and Ruminal was more then happy to help. Ruminal jumped up and raised his hand to the sky with a big smile on his face saying "I'd be glad to help you out! Where we going?" Ruminal had never worked with Magna before or even really conversed with him much in the many months he's been here now. However Ruminal had observed most of his guildmates around often enough to feel as if he knew most of them by now.

In a way it was perhaps fortunate that Jiyu wasn't the one who had suddenly appeared to take the job. After all, he had a feeling he was going to have to go all out against this girl in order to bring her down, should a capture seem impossible, and for that he'd need his fire spells. Those were spells he couldn't use with Jiyu about or she'd faint or go wild or something equally bad. All people on this job would need to take part in order to succeed. Still, at least he knew Jiyu well enough. In all honesty he'd rather take Shade, but then against she was his girlfriend so it made sense that he'd want to be with her.

At first he thought that no-one was going to show any interest. In fact, it got to such a state that he was about to leave and look somewhere else or perhaps just solo it, but it was just as he turned to walk away that someone jumped up with their hand raised saying they would come along. It was a young child and one he knew of, but not one he'd really interacted with except perhaps putting a meal out or something similar. However, what he did know was that this particular mage had an impressive lineage. They were the son of the former guildmaster Kakuma and her mate Marschal. It seemed that Marschal linked to a few of his job partners in one way or the other. He was one of the few people Jiyu trusted for example. With that heritage it was likely that Ruminal had a lot of hidden potential. It also meant they probably didn't appreciate food as well as Magna would like. They were in it more to fill their bellies rather than satisfy their heart and soul. Or at least that was how Kakuma had been.

With a swift motion Magna folded the job notice into a paper aeroplane and sent it over towards Ruminal. There was no particular reason for this other than that he felt like it. "The location is the haunted village. A dangerous zone, but all the more dangerous now." Magna explained simply causing a few who had looked like they might be interested now that they wouldn't be the only one tagging along to turn away. The haunted village had a bad reputation. A lot of people in the guild had bad experiences there. This time Magna hoped nothing too bad would happen. "Read the job details and let me know if you still want to come."

He walked over to the bar and had a quick whispered conversation with someone behind it who nodded in understanding. They would pass on the message to Gala and he would take care of the kitchen whilst Magna was out on a mission. If Gala wasn't around then he'd find the next in command kitchen wise. Either way the kitchen would be in safe hands whilst he was gone. Even the lowest ranking chef was skilled in his kitchen. He'd made sure of it via hiring and training.

As he waited for Ruminal's response his hand instinctively went to the knife at his waist. It was a simple looking kitchen knife, but it housed a secret that some in the guild were aware of. It housed Aegis, his guardian warrior spirit, who had always helped him, but now he was sealed away due to an incident. It was the very village they were heading for where the incident had happened. As said previously, many had bad memories of that village and Magna was not an exception to that rule.

Ruminal Blackflower • Black Rose • C Rank

Magna folded up a piece of paper into a paper airplane and had it glide over to Ruminal. Luckily Ruminal was just far enough away to react in time to catch it. Magna mentioned that the job location was the Haunted Village, a village Ruminal actually hasn't been to before. He spent a great deal of his time exploring the land and all its beauty but hasn't even heard of this village. Magna continued to mention that it was a dangerous zone so that would explain why no one talks about it much. Moving on Ruminal unfolded the letter and began to look it over. It was a message from the Magic Council addressed to Magna in hopes he could take care of a high value threat in Haunted Village. Now this is what interested Ruminal the most, the threat was a 7 year old girl. The Council classified her as a A rank dark mage that needs to be captured or killed. Apparently she took out a whole guild by herself and has even took down some other dark mages. Its apparent this little girl is going after whoever gets in her way. What could posses a child to commit such atrocity?

The whole time Ruminal was looking over the letter from the Magic Council Magna made his way over to the bar and seemed to be having a conversation with someone behind it. If Ruminal remembered correctly, Magna was the head chief. He must be letting them know he's going to be out for the day. Ruminal walked over to Magna and handed him back the letter. "Ok now you diffidently caught my interest." Ruminal wanted to have a chat if possible with this little girl and see if he can't figure out what's going on here. However by the way it sounds that isn't going to be possible. "Well, I'm good to go whenever you are."

Magna nodded at Ruminal. The young one appeared to have some interest in the job. Perhaps he wanted to try and save the girl or something like that? Well, Magna wasn't aiming to kill the girl. That wasn't in his style, and in his opinion shouldn't be the style of any legal mage, and it seemed like the magic council would prefer her alive. No harm in being on the good side of the government. "We'll head out straight away before she has a chance to move on to other areas." he said heading out into the town and heading straight over to a coach house. The man seemed worried to go near the haunted village at all so Magna merely requested passage for as close as the man was willing to get them. Even the outskirts of the woods near the village would be a significant saving in time and energy for the pair. Money for travel wasn't exactly an issue for the chef. He worked in a high class kitchen and people came and paid him to cook them food. Even people outside the guild came to his kitchen. Why? Because he was a famous chef with a few titles under his belt.

The journey was likely to be uneventful. For the most part the journey to the forest that skirted the haunted village was through safe paths where little was likely to happen and even if it did the coachman likely knew how to handle it. As such the chef mage sat down comfortably in the coach to relax. "So Ruminal. I know next to nothing about you and as we're going into combat it might be useful to know a few bits like how you fight, what your magic is, any other important details." he said conversationally. In truth, it was better to learn these through combat, but a basic overview or even a few details like an element would be handy. If he specialised in AOE centering on himself for example then Magna would know not to stay close. "Me i'm a chef mage and cerberus slayer. I hit canines and spirits hard and use various cooking techniques as spells. I rely on fusing spells together a lot though."

"Sounds good." Ruminal replied to Magna as they started to head out into town. Ruminal's mind kept racing which idea's on what could possibly drive such an innocent girl to do such horrible things. Manga managed to find them some transportation to as close to the village as the driver could possible dare to go. As they got comfortable Magna asked Ruminal if he wouldn't mind sharing some information about himself. "Well... To put it simply I'm a support type mage specializing in healing and protection. My magic allows me to tap into natures energy supplies in order to cast my spells. Think of it like I use my magic to take old of natures natural energies and use it how I see fit. A healing spell for example, I normally take hold of enough energy to surround my target with it and the energy causes the targets body to rapidly heal itself until the energy I grabbed is depleted. I can also bring forth other elements of nature to help me as well such as water from the plants to ward way attackers around me and I can take the earth on the ground to create a second skin around my target to absorb damage." Ruminal explained as best he could. Most of his magic skills to this day have been mostly a mystery on how exactly it works. He mostly goes off of feeling it out, it must be his god blood that is helping him with what he can't understand.

Magna went into a short detail of what magic he specialized with saying he mostly uses cooking type magic and something called Cerberus slayer magic. Ruminal has heard of slayer type magic before but nothing like what Magna described. The one's he was familiar with are the usual dragon, god, and demon slayer types of lost magic and to his knowledge has yet to meet anyone that uses those types. Magna went on to say he mostly relies on fusing spells together and was fascinated that he could do such a thing. "I heard spell fusion was extremely difficult to master. Most difficult of them all being Unison Raids." He asked.

The journey to the haunted Village was a long one. Ruminal was conversing with Magna most of the way but the rest of the time Ruminal spent it looking out the window. They were currently at the entrance to the forest to the Haunted Village. As he was looking around he could have swore he saw someone standing in the distance. It was just a glimpse however and when he turned back to confirm what he saw, it was gone. He didn't want to shrug it off as his imagination just in case and felt it was worth mentioning it to Magna. "I think I just saw someone watching us over there. I didn't get a good look though."

"Fusions are difficult, especially with other people. Its a matter of not only understanding the spells, but how they can blend together. Its easier with your own spells because you know them, but with other people...you have to know them as well." Magna responded looking at Ruminal and trying to explain it. "For me though...I find fusions a bit easier than normal spells sometimes. Perhaps because i'm used to blending ingredients for a meal rather than just using a single one." It was, in Magna's opinion, a mentality thing as to why he was able to fuse spells. However, he knew that how it had developed and become stronger was due to the harmony between the two spider monkey animal spirits that dwelt within him. They also seemed to get on pretty well with the cerberus soul trapped within the lacrima embedded within his chest. The three worked well together and that allowed Magna to unleash greater magical power when combining spells.

The magic that his ally had described was interesting. Natural energy taken from around him in order to fuel his spells which supported and healed people. A truly natural support mage in more ways than one. It would be interesting to see how the two worked together this day.

At the mention of someone watching them Magna's nose twitched and he sniffed the air. Someone or something was out there. Ruminal was certainly right on that. Magna opened up a small panel near the front which allowed him to converse quietly to the driver. There was a slight nod and then the coach turned round and began to go back the other way. Magna however had pushed open the door and dropped out beckoning for Ruminal to do the same. They'd dropped out on the opposite side to where the supposed person was and Magna had darted behind some trees. With a bit of luck whoever or whatever it was wouldn't have spotted them getting off. Magna whispered to Ruminal.

"It could be the target, but for now let's head towards the village. If you see it or otherwise detect it again let me know, but don't let them know you're letting me know." Magna said calmly. If they were being spied on or watched it could indeed be their target or it could be members of the Withered Lotus. He'd ran into some recently and it seemed they had some kind of vendetta against Black Rose.

Magna opened a small panel to the driver of the coach and told him that this was far enough and that they could walk the rest of the way. In addition to that Magna asked that he drop them off discreetly cause they believed someone was watching off in the woods. The coach nodded slightly cause he didn't want whoever was watching to be tipped off on what they were doing. Ruminal and Magna exited the coach from the opposite way Ruminal noticed the unknown person as quietly as possible and quickly hid behind some nearby tree's. The driver turned the coach around and began to head back  home while Ruminal and Manga tried to sneak there way towards the village. Was then that Magna asked Ruminal if he notices the unknown individual again to try and let him know without signaling to whoever is watching that Magna also knew. "Not a problem. While outside I can detect any presence within a 25 meter radius thanks to the connection I have with nature. He wont sneak up on us easily. I'll signal you by having nature blow some leafs to dance in your path." Ruminal conversed under his breath.

It was still a little way's to the Haunted Village yet, at least 5 miles. It was getting late into the day already so by Ruminal's calculations they should reach the village by sun down. It was a rather long way to go for sneaking so Ruminal kept his senses sharp. He even switched into his wolf form to have less visibility and sharper hearing to boot. While in wolf form Ruminal was only 9 inches off the ground from shoulder to paw making him walk pretty quietly as well. He followed as close behind Magna as he could while ducking in and out between tree's.

By now they have traveled about 3 miles to there destination and there was still no sign of the person Ruminal caught a glimpse of before. Either they gave it the slip or it was really good at hide and seek. About another mile in Ruminal got a whiff of  who was watching them. It was a scent he wasn't familiar with and they weren't far behind them. It was at least 30 meters back, did this person somehow know about Ruminal's ability? Or were they just being careful? Ruminal didn't want to look incase he gave away there element of surprise. Instead he did what he said he was going to do and communed with nature to blow some leafs in Magna's path to give him a head's up. The leafs would dance in front of Magna for a few moments before being blown away to let him know that it was without mistake Ruminal trying to contact him.

The plan had seemingly been successful for the time being. They'd manage to get out of the coach and into cover without being seen or at least that was what he thought. Ruminal confirmed this using their nature power and the two proceeded through the forest towards the village. However, what was interesting was that Ruminal assumed the form of a wolf and a rather small one at that. It was an ability, that if his memory served him correctly(and it generally did), that Kakuma also possessed so it was natural that Ruminal might possess it. Ruminal's wolf form however did raise a worry in his mind. If Magna used his cerberus slayer powers and the wolf, or part wolf, got caught in the cross fire then the damage caused could be immense. Why was everyone in the guild canine? It was really quite irksome. In truth, he hadn't yet mastered the power of the slayer and after entering a form he liked to call 'triforce' in his last encounter he felt he knew much more about it and as such planned to spend some time developing his control so it was more to his liking. It would also mean people were less likely to get caught in the crossfire.

As they walked his hand instinctively went to the knife at his waist and in his mind he asked Aegis to protect them even if he couldn't come forth physically. There was a sense of reassurance from the knife, at least for him, and that was enough.

It was once they'd travelled about three miles that the leaves briefly danced in front of him before going back to normal. That meant there mysterious assasilant had been detected. Now the question was whether or not to strike immediately. He sniffed the air to get a rough idea of the location and then turned quickly flicked his wrist back sending a metal fork flying straight at the assailant. He quickly turned to see the fork quiver into a tree with no sign of anyone nearby and yet he could still smell them. It was then that a sword came forth from where the fork had hit. It twirled through the air approaching them slowly and yet nobody was holding it.

He sniffed the air again. There was certainly no-one nearby or somehow they had no scent. The blade itself also didn't appear to be real. There was no scent of metal in the air. "Ruminal. That blade seem real to you?"

Ruminal watched as Magna quickly turned to throw what looked like a fork at a tree like a kunai. Not to long after a sword floated out into sight. Ruminal reverted back into his human form and he has a suspicious look on his face. How is this blade floating in the air like that? Is something there invisible to there eyes or perhaps its just a magic sword? Ruminal didn't believe so. It seemed Magna was thinking the same thing. "I don't know. It might be an illusion, but that doesn't mean it can't hurt us regardless. If there is an illusionist around here we can't rule out the fact it can make the illusions real." Ruminal replied. He watched the blade closely, it kept creeping closer slowly but surely. It didn't seem hasty to start a fight. Ruminal blinked and noticed something odd. He closed his eyes for a second and he could still see the floating blade. That wasn't normal, guess that confirmed it being an illusion. "Hey Magna close your eyes for a sec and look at the blade. What do you see?" Ruminal wanted to confirm if Magna would see the same thing. If so then yes this blade wasn't real. After confirming he could still see even though his eyes were closed Ruminal said "Then yes this blade isn't real, its an illusion made to spread fear into there opponents."

The blade was halfway to them at this point still taking its sweet time. It wasn't doing a good job giving off any fear to the two magi. Suddenly the blade stopped in its floating tracks and began to glow with a dark aura. Not wanting to take any chances Ruminal turned to get behind Magna but when he did the blade moved fast enough to stay in his sight. It seems this illusion was made to stay in the opponents sights at all times. "It seems as though this blade doesn't want to leave our sights. I'm guessing its still behind me where your looking?" Ruminal asked. After hearing Magna's answer Ruminal asked "Any ideas?"

The word's Ruminal spoke were true. Even if it was an illusion, and his sense of smell told him it was, that did not mean it wasn't a threat. A clever illusionist could, potentially, use illusions on a real sword to make it seem like an illusion and thus trick the target. That seemed a bit of a stretch, but it certainly was possible. However, if this blade was a threat then it was the slowest one had had ever seen. The blade was approaching swinging through the air as if the person was just walking forward using very short paces. At Ruminal's suggestion of closing his eyes he raised an eyebrow briefly, but did the same and too still saw the blade spinning in front of him as if his eyes were still open. A bizarre situation in truth, but not one he was too worried about. The blade was almost certainly an illusion.

This was confirmed even more once Ruminal turned away and still saw the blade in front of them. Especially as Magna saw the blade in front of him still whilst Ruminal saw it in a completely different directly. Unless there was more than one. He focused quickly and suddenly, for a brief moment, he had three faces, six arms and a second tail. This tail had a snake head. It was possible that Ruminal would not see it because it truly was for an instant. In that instant each of the three faces saw a blade twirling towards them. That did not prove anything in truth, but the tail also saw one and that wasn't pointing in the same direction any of the others, or Ruminal, were. Either there were multiple. Or they were an illusion.

"Let's get moving and ignore the blades. They don't seem to be doing any harm for now." he said and began to run in the direction of the village.

Taking Magna's advice they decided to ignore the floating blades and continue to make there way towards the village. However it was hard to ignore something that stayed in your line of sight at all times. After a few moments of running this started to be less scary and more funny. No matter how fast they ran the blade would stay its exact same distance away from them and give off the illusion that it was getting closer slowly. Ruminal would shack his head a bit here and there to make the blade look like he was spinning around out of control and chuckling a bit at the thought.  Apparently someone made this illusion to slow them down but why? What was going on at the village that someone would try to slow them down or scare people away? Could it be the little girl mentioned in the letter? Was she trying to warn us to stay away? Nothing was certain and Ruminal wanted to get answers. Luckily the blade vanished after a while and to Ruminal's disappointment cause he was getting some mild entertainment out of it.

Finally it was getting dark and they made it to the village. "I see why its called the Haunted Village. It looks like a twister hit the place hard." Ruminal stated. The village was in ruins with buildings broken down, roofs collapsed in, windows broken out and there was no living person in sight. Not only that but the village seemed to give off an ominous presence like they were being watched. Suddenly Ruminal heard some whispering in a nearby building but when he turned towards it there was no one in sight and the voices seemed to have moved over to another building. They were loud enough for anyone to hear but Magna didn't seem to notice. "Hey, did you hear that?" Ruminal asked. The whispering voices didn't stop and every time Ruminal would turn towards them they bounce to another location. He couldn't make out what they were saying even with his heightened hearing. It was starting to freak him out but he remained strong. He just kept telling himself that they aren't real just another illusion but Ruminal couldn't really tell if it was the illusionist doing this or the village itself.

The swords were indeed humerous to some extent. No matter what they did they would always be in front of them at a fixed distance, slowly coming towards them, but never reaching them. It was really an odd situation and as they walked Magna periodically threw off energy forks and knives towards the oncoming blades because it relieved the boredom of the walk. It also made sure that the blades hadn't suddenly been replaced with real ones. However, eventually they got to the village itself and it did indeed look like a twister had struck it. He noted one building in particular which had a hole through its roof and several heavy indentations as well. That was the building where he had fought against several werewolves and where Aegis had been bitten. It wasn't a pleasent site for him and once more his hand went to the knife at his waist.

"I was here a while ago, so were a few others including the guild master." he said as part of an explanation to Ruminal. "An event happens here every so often where the moon rises and the people change into werewolves. Normally they keep control, but on rare situations they lose control and go on a rampage. We all came to stop them, though we didn't come together. The damage to the village is from that battle I think. Though some of these marks are newer."

When Ruminal asked if he could hear something he focused and used his own enhanced hearing, normally only really used for cooking, in order to try and hear anything out of the ordinary. All he could hear was the wind blowing through the town rattling shutters and twirling round buildings causing eeries noises. Ruminal kept looking at various buildings as if they were hearing something comign from them. "All I hear is the wind." he said and in truth that's all he thought there was. He might not have as advanced hearing as some, but due to his cooking he was good at picking out certain noises mixed in with others. It allowed him to know when certain things were approaching a point. A useful trick especially when combined with enhanced smell and taste. "If you're hearing something i'm not its probably another illusion. Don't ignore it entirely, but try to keep your ears open for other things."

It was that point that Magna realised that the sword had vanished from his sight. He looked around for a few moments, but nothing could be seen. He even briefly went into asura mode so he had more viewpoints at once, but it indeed seemed the illusionary blade had gone. A tactic to scare them off? Or slow them down? Or was it just someone playing silly buggers? It wasn't clear, but something was up.

While Ruminal was being messed around by some mysterious whispers, Magna seemed preoccupied at looking around for some reason. Not only that but he put his hand to his knife again. It wasn't the first time Ruminal noticed him doing that and it got him wondering what that was about. Magna went on to talk about his last experience in this village. Apparently an event happens here every so often. It seemed like a kind of event for werewolves to gather to ride out there transformation till dawn so no one would get hurt. Normally its controlled but that time it wasn't, the werewolves went on a rampage. That would explain why this village is so damaged but Magna also mentioned that there was more damage done recently.

Magna couldn't hear any of this annoying whispers meaning it really was an illusion being cast specifically on Ruminal. However the moment Magna suggested Ruminal try to not ignore them entirely they suddenly stopped. Finally Ruminal could think again. "I think they have finally stopped. Thank god too, they were starting to give me a headache." He said giving off a sigh of relief. "So I've been meaning to ask you something." Ruminal started to say. "Why do you keep grabbing that knife on your waist?" It was a question Ruminal had been wanting to ask for a while now and felt it was now or never. "If its to personal then forget I mentioned it." He was curious but didn't want to dig into anything personal.

Was then that he heard someone laughing off in the distance. The voice was echoing all over the place making it impossible to determine where it was coming from. The laughter was that of a little girl. "Please say I'm not imagining this too."  Ruminal said grabbing Magna's legs as if trying to hide.

Magna paused at the question of his knife, but nodded. It was a habit he'd picked up recently and as they were on a mission he supposed Ruiminal deserved some explanation especially as this place was the reason. "The knife contains the spirit of a friend of mine. He used to be able to come out of the knife and take form as an armored knight." he said as the beginning of the explanation. "Aegis is a spirit bound to my family by oath and friendship. He defended me when last I was here and was bitten by one of the werewolves. You'd think being a spirit warrior it wouldn't of effected him, but it did." He sighed deeply and pulled the knife out staring at his face in the reflection.

"Ever since that bite he has remained in this form and no longer communicates. I saw him once when facing another spirit in battle, but other than that I have not heard from him. However...I find that touching the blade and asking for his protection gives me a sense of assurance." he said with a shrug. "It seems a bit silly I guess, but I guess if he can't be here in his true physical form at least his spirit is with me and his thoughts are with me and that is reassuring."

It was as he spoke those last words that the laughter started. A laughter that seemed to echo from everywhere and caused Ruminal to grab his leg as if to hide. In the time they'd been on the job he'd almost forgotten that Ruminal was too a child. Magna himself was only fifteen, but laughter was the least of their concerns. He closed his eyes and tried to focus on the sound alone trying to discern the location that it came from. "You're not imagining it or if you're then we both are." he said opening his eyes. "We can't tell where its coming from though which suggests it might be another illusion. It seems this girl is determined to scare us off...or the village is trying to protect us. Either way..it seems sticking together won't find the target." He looked down at Ruminal. "If you're ok with it I suggest we split up and look for clues." Magna twirled the knife around and held it handle first towards Ruminal. "Take this with you. It will keep you safe. Oh and take this."

Magna focused and in each of his hands formed a powder. In one hand was red dust and the other was green. He slammed the hands together and a bright yellow mist was formed which flowed over Ruminal. Instantly, the young male would find their speed, stamina, strength and endurance increased. This was one of his fusions mixing the spell Thunder Peppermint and Velvet Revolution to make Thunderbolt Revolution. They were C rank spells, but due to his knowledge of fusions and spells they were combined to make something slightly stronger than an A rank. As such the effect of the spell, which to an A rank mage, would boost those stats by 33% would boost a B rank by 36 and a C rank by 40%. It was a powerful buff and one he hoped would keep Ruminal safe.

"If you find the girl run whilst calling my name and focusing on the knife. She's not something either of us should face alone."

Magna told his story about the spirit within his knife. It was a spirit bound by oath and friendship to help keep him safe from harm. Sadly Magna hasn't seen or heard from  this spirit sense it saved him  from the werewolves last time he came to this village. Ruminal felt sad about Magna's story and hoped they be able to communicate again.

At least Magna could hear the laughter unlike the whispers  from earlier. Ruminal was starting to feel like he was going insane, but it turned out to be more illusions. However after what was coming next Ruminal would think Magna was the one going insane. He suggested that it would be better if they split up to search for the little girl. "Wait, WHAT!?" Ruminal said loudly and confused on where this became a good idea. As Ruminal continued to voice his opinion on this matter Magna kept going on with this plan. He handed Ruminal his precious knife and even cast a strength, speed, endurance, and stamina buff on him then left."Wait! Don't go!! When did this become a good idea and he's gone...." Magna left Ruminal standing there alone in a small broken down village named for how haunted it was. Not only that there was a serial killer on the loose.

Ruminal walked around the main road of the Village into the town square. He was quickly looking around all over the place making sure no one was going to sneak up on him. He was breathing fast and his heart was pounding out of his chest. Finally he took a deep breath to try and calm down. "Get a hold of yourself Ruminal. You can do this. Sure you can't fight but you sure can run. Remember you out ran over 30 vegetable demons at once!" Was then he heard something run by behind him in a dark ally way and he did a quick yell of surprise  and quickly turned. "Who's there! Show yourself!" As if he really expected whoever that was to just walk out and surrender. He inched his way towards the dark alleyway. He peeked his head around the corner and started to hear crying? Ruminal was to smart to fall for this old trick but he couldn't just ignore this either. "Why must I be such a goody goody...." He followed the crying till he saw the little girl just squatting in a corner crying her lungs out. Ruminal kept his distance not wanting to get close. He has her cornered but no way of keeping her there if she decided to attack. "A... Alright! Get up slowly and keep your hands where I can see them! Don't make me have to hurt you!" He said lying in order to try and end this peacefully. She didn't budged or respond to his commands. "I'm not coming over there! I wasn't born yesterday!" He yelled and yet she still didn't move. "Alright... How about we start by you telling me your name?"

"L... Lilith" She finally said. "Ok, Lilith. Are you the one who took down that small guild all by yourself?" She nodded her head a couple of times while still sitting down sobbing. "Why you do it?"

"I had no choice. It made me do it"

    "Who made you do it?"

She finally stopped crying at this point and managed to get up on her feet however she was still facing away from Ruminal. He was expecting the little girl to turn around showing her true evil colors but that wasn't the case. She turned round slowly face red and wet from all her crying and said.pointing behind him. "He did." Ruminal's heart skipped a beat and broke out in a cold sweet. He slowly turned his head and saw! A teddy bear laying on the ground. Ruminal took a big sigh of relief. But when he turned back towards the little girl she was standing right in front of him and was covered in shadow energies and her teeth were like a sharks.. He yelled as loud as he could and fell backwards onto the ground and tried to crawl away as fast as he could but it was too late. Lilith cast some kind of illusion spell that bound Ruminal in chains, he was trapped.

As the shadow energy began to swarm over the girl and the illusions swarmed over the girl Magna revealed his true plan and struck with a powerful double footed kick to the girl's side. OR at least so he'd intended, but suddenly her head twisted and he found his leg bound in a chain that spun him round and hurled him into a wall. He thought he'd caught her off guard, but it seemed she'd seen through his ruse. Yet how had Magna got there so quickly? Well, in truth he had never actually left. That was why he'd seemingly ignored Ruminal's arguments against the plan because it wasn't his real plan. He wasn't going to leave a small child alone. However, it was unlikely the girl would reveal herself quickly if they stayed as a pair. So he'd decided to fake 'splitting up' so that she'd reveal herself. She was a young child and so likely to be playful and want to toy with them and so her target at first would be the weaker of the two, which was Ruminal even with his boosts. If she'd been smarter she would of attacks Magna first, but people generally tried to take the weaker ones out first before striking the bigger target. It was just the way people's minds worked.

So when they'd split up Magna had quickly doubled round a corner and gone to the roof tops following Ruminal in silence and waiting for an opening. An opening he thought had been provided when her attention was so focused on Ruminal, but it seemed that wasn't the case. He emerged from the rubble and looked at the girl. The girl turned to glanced at him whilst Ruminal was still bound by the illusionary chains. Well, at least Magna assumed they were illusions, but the chains that had grabbed him seemed very real.

He flicked a knife at her, one of the energy knives, but it was stopped by a rapidly swirling chain that appeared in her hand, just for a moment, before vanishing. This girl was going to be a tough opponent.

Just as Ruminal thought he was done for Magna swooped in to save the day. He jumped down from the rooftops and firmly landed a double kick to Lilith's rib cage however she didn't move from her position. Just when Ruminal thought he could breath easy again Lilith twisted her head around to look at Magna with an her eerie smile. "It's about time, I was getting bored." It seemed as if she conjured some more of her chains and had them around Magna's ankles keeping him from landing the blow. In one swift motion she spun Magna around like a rag doll and sent him flying into the back part of the  alleyway. "Magna!" Ruminal shouted trying to get up but the chains around his arms and legs wouldn't give. It was as if his arm's and legs didn't want to move.

Lilith laughed maniacally at Magna's pathetic attempt to catch her off guard. She walked over to where Ruminal was being held down and grabbed her teddy bear. "Let's play some more!" She spoke raising her free hand into the air. Suddenly the chains that bound Ruminal began to lift him up onto his feet. A chain appeared in Lilith's hand that was connected to all the chains on Ruminal and she lashed her arm down and Ruminal charges head first towards Magna. "Hey what's going on!" Ruminal yelled. Lilith was controlling Ruminal's body with the illusionary chains and forcing him to attack Magna. If one would look closely enough, they would see that Lilith's teddy bear's eye's were glowing with a purple light. "This is my Crippled Soul spell. The chains are like puppet strings and your the puppet!" She explained laughing her evil little laugh. "You two thought you could come here and beat me? You're easier to toy with then that weak guild."

The girl was controlling Ruminal like a puppet. The chains themselves were controlling each of his limbs. It was clear Ruminal was trying to resist, but was unable to. In truth Magna wanted to do something to stop this, but he couldn't think of a clear way. Even if he was to put Ruminal to sleep he'd just then be fighting an unconcious puppet. There was no easy path to victory except to take out the girl. Or perhaps the best course of action was to bring down the teddy bear. Every spell she'd used the teddy bear had begun to glow or react in some way. So if he brought down the bear then he'd likely end the spells. That of course was easier said than done and he really wished Aegis was an option, but sadly that was not the case. He needed to take Ruminal out of the picture for at least a little bit.

He slammed a foot down and a pit opened beneath Ruminal's feet causing Ruminal to drop into it or at least that was the idea. He was using the pit in its defensive sense rather than its offensive. The target would drop into the pit and then it would close trapping them inside to some extent. Normally he used this offensively in which case the sides heated up but he did not want to hurt Ruminal.

Whilst that was happening Magna suddenly leaped into the air and propelled himself via his gauntlets in an arc to try and slam into the teddy bear a blade extending from his wrist to try and pierce it, but once more a chain bound his arm forcing him off course and into the ground. He tried to twirl his leg round and strike the teddy bear. This time his foot hit the bear and sent it sliding.

"HOW DARE YOU HURT MR.FLUFFY!" the girl screamed and suddenly spears began to fill the sky raining down towards him. He focused and tiwlred on the spot extending energy from the tips of his blades forming a field of energy that deflected the spears away. Yet more were coming down forcing him to blast back using his gauntlets and send him in another direction to try and avoid them. A few blades stabbed into him, but he dodged the most.

Ruminal Blackflower • Black Rose • C Rank

It was a nice attempt, opening a hole in the ground in order to trap Ruminal so they didn't have to fight each other would have been a good move in any other situation. Unfortunately for this situation, falling into a pit wasn't a solution. Thanks to the chains around Ruminal's wrists and ankles working like puppet strings, Lilith was able to suspend Ruminal in the air preventing him from falling. That didn't stop Magna though, while Lilith was busy trying to save Ruminal so the fight could continue the chief leaped into the air and propelled himself via his gauntlets in an arc to try and slam into the teddy bear. Magna had a blade extend from his wrist to try and pierce the bear but once more Lilith was one step ahead of him. Chains spawned to block him attacks once again. They bound themselves to Magna's arm forcing him off course and onto the ground. Magna wasn't going to take this lying down however, pun intended!!! He twirled his leg around and struck the teddy bear right out of Lilith's hand and sent it sliding down the alleyway.

Meanwhile, Ruminal was suspended in mid air trying to break free of his chains. It was no use, he used every trick the could think of but to no avail. He was floating in mid around just off ground level above the pit Magna had made earlier. He watched as Magna tried to do his best to free him. Once Magna managed to knock the bear out of Lilith's hand Ruminal yelled out in joy "Yah! Nice going Magna!" However the chains around Ruminal's arms and legs didn't vanish like he'd hoped. It seems that the bear wasn't her medium for her magic after all. Outraged that Magna hurt her toy bear she took a more firm grip on the chain that was connected to Ruminal and lashed it down towards Magna while jumping back a distance. As a result Ruminal began to move again and began to fly towards Magna while pulling out the knife he gave to Rumi earlier. The knife lunged forth right before Ruminal got to Magna, it was speeding right for his heart! Ruminal closed his eyes not wanting to watch how this unfolds fearing that he might end the life of a new friend.

The pit had failed, which was quite unfortunate, but not really that unexpected. The chains were likely to save someone from falling in the pit. Still, he had managed to seperate the girl from the bear slightly and it seemed that it had triggered her somewhat. What's more, though he wasn't sure, her spirit seemed to change slightly. Could the bear somehow be tied directly to her powers in a way other than that of a holder mage. It was something he would have to look into, but before that a rather swift moving Ruminal was being launched at him wielding the knife that housed Aegis. Magna didn't even flinch though as a large frying pan appeared in his hand and blocked the blow and for some reason a chef hat appeared on his head. Then with a swift motion he launched a stream of fire from his finger tip to try to melt the chains. With luck it would work and then Ruminal would be freed. Strength didn't seem to be enough, but perhaps the power of magic would be. Like before he'd combined spells this time. He had combined his B rank class spell blow torch with his B rank spell cooking flame high. This was focused via blow torch, being the base, and thus it was a super intense flame that extended from his finger. The power was so great it could be compared to a H rank spell or at least it would of been if he hadn't been wearing the hat. The hat boosted the power even further pushed it beyond that of a H rank and almost to the realm of X ranks. The chains would melt and splutter beneath the heat and even evaporate whilst the ground and buildings also hit by the flame would melt and turn into pools of super heated magma. This was in truth one of his most powerful spell combinations, but he couldn't keep fighting Ruminal so he had to do everything in his power to free them.

Of course, it meant he wouldn't be able to use those spells for a while, but that did not matter. What did matter was that Ruminal was free and now could fight alongside him. "Try not to get hit by those chains again." he said calmly preparing the frying pan. "And get ready for anymore tricks."

Ruminal Blackflower • Black Rose • C Rank

Magna successfully managed to block Ruminal's unwanted attack and free him from his chains. Ruminal was relieved to finally have them removed, he didn't want to harm a friend by any means. Now that he was free he was mad and ready to finish this fight. Lilith was bearless and out numbered two to one. She could still access her magic even though the bear was blown down the alleyway a bit behind Ruminal and Magna. With them blocking the path to the bear victory was almost assured. Magna made wanted to make sure Ruminal kept a keen eye out for more chains and any other tricks she might have up her sleeves. "Don't worry, I won't fall for the same trick twice." He replied. Also while they had a moment to breath, Ruminal kicked Magna in the chin. "That was for leaving me alone!" The kick wouldn't hurt  as much as it looked but it still make Ruminal feel better. "Next time warn me when you want to use me as bait."

While this was going on Lilith was slowly backing up into the dead end part of the alleyway, smiling like nothing has changed. "It's over, surrender now and we wont hurt you." Ruminal offered. He knew full well she wouldn't surrender but at the least it would make Ruminal feel better knowing he  gave her the  option. "You should know better then to corner a wild animal, they have a tendency to show there teeth." She said mockingly. Ruminal kept his eye's on her ready for her to make the first move. Suddenly she slowly raised her right arm and pointed behind them. Ruminal's eye's narrowed, last time she pulled this trick it was her bear behind him. "I'm not falling for tha..." Was then that Ruminal questioned something, how did that bear get there last time? It wasn't there when he walked in. He remembered the first job he went on after first coming to this world, him and his father went to investigate some strange toys that could move on there own. He quickly glanced back to the bear and it was standing on its own feet glowing that sinister purple aura. "Magna! The bear is alive!" It was too late however, the energies the bear was charging up unleashed and enveloped both Ruminal and Magna. The strange thing was, it didn't seem to do anything. Ruminal had a bad feeling about this. Suddenly an afterimage walked out of Ruminal and Magna then took a solid form. The bear cloned them, created a pair of illusion that resemble them both.

Ruminal looked back at the girl but she was gone and when he looked back at the bear so was it. An echo of the little girls voice could be heard then "Let's see how well you fair against yourselves!" She taunted laughing maniacally. The Ruminal clone looked exactly like the original however you can see the difference with the clones eyes. They were black as the void, empty as a hallow shell. It started to laugh as well while Ruminal was looking it over. "Your pathetic, I'm so glad to finally be free of you. No matter how hard you try you will never be any use to anyone." It spoke attacking Ruminal with its words. "Let's find out then." Ruminal replied getting ready for the fight that was about to go down.

Nightmare unleashed (Ruminal/Shard Mission) Empty Re: Nightmare unleashed (Ruminal/Shard Mission)

Magna felt the energy of the bear flow through him and it was such a strange sensation like being torn in half. However, unlike Ruminal who had a clone of him standing before him and other than that looked almost exactly the same Magna's clone and himself were quite different. THe clone's hair was white and the eyes glowed white. Body hair also appeared thicker and there was a slightly wolf or dog-like appearance to the face, but it was also monkey like. The tail was also white rather than the intricate play of white and orange that Magna normally had. Magna himself now also appeared a bit more feral and the colour from his tail had gone leaving it as just orange. In his head and body he felt an emptiness. Somehow the spell had split his soul and the white monkey spirit Frosty was in the other body whilst he retained Toasty.

"Its been a while since we fought brother." the opponent said speaking not to Magna but to Toasty who seemed to now somehow have greater control of Magna as he replied.

"Aye and Loch afair i'll beat ye doon hard ye ken?" The accent that the fire monkey had was not what Magna had expected at all, but he had no control of his body as the two Magna's ran at eachother their firsts colliding in a massive burst of kinetic energy that threw the pair back so they both slammed into buildings. In terms of brute strength it seemed the two were evenly matched. "When its fire versus ice yer gonnae lose every time brither." The orange magna said as he emerged from the rubble the blades from his gauntlets extended and clearly red and radiating heat.

The white magna extended his own blades that were white and radiating cold. "Its not just fire versus fire. Its cold versus heat and eventually the cold will always triumph. Everything cools down." he said and then the two collided once more their blades striking sending off sparked.

"Och aye, but aam still burnin' up sae prepaur tae be beaten doon."

Ruminal Blackflower • Black Rose • C Rank

Ruminal charged at his clone, with only one offensive spell under his belt that did little damage he was  left with just his fists to fight. His clone was in the same boat with nothing but support spells and there fists. His clone, which will now be called shadow, stood there as Ruminal threw the first punch of the fight. Ruminal hit his shadow square in the face. Shadow just smiled "That all you got?" Ruminal kept up his attacks punching his shadow multiple times aiming for his face and chest area's. Again Shadow just stood there taking every blow not moving from his spot. No matter how many times Ruminal punched him he wasn't going to move and it kept a disappointed look on his face. Ruminal jumped back suddenly. He had a worried look on this face. "What's going on? I can't be this weak?" Ruminal thought to himself. Shadow spat out some blood before saying "You are weak, until you give in to it that's all you will ever be." Ruminal knew what he was talking about. "That's not going to happen. I don't need it to beat you."

"Then allow me to show you  what you could be capable of." The Shadow replied. He leaned forward slightly and soon after his body began to alter. His hands became claws, teeth replaced by fangs, skin darkened and had that familiar symbol appear on this forehead however instead of red it was black. His hear grew longer down to his mid back. Ruminal stood strong ready for what his shadow was going to happen next. Shadow charged forth faster then ever, he grabbed Ruminal by his face and slammed him threw the back wall into the broken down house. The assault didn't stop there, while still holding onto Ruminal his shadow kept going till they passed straight through the whole building and made there way to the main streets on the other side. Once there Shadow threw Ruminal across the street. Ruminal got up slowly, his head was ringing like a bell and bleeding in multiple places. "Now we can get some privae."

Nightmare unleashed (Ruminal/Shard Mission) Empty Re: Nightmare unleashed (Ruminal/Shard Mission)

The two Magna's were essentially ignoring Ruminal entirely as their blades classed against eachother creating small explosions of sparks. Both seemed evenly matched, but neither seemed to want to give up. All speech for the time had ceased as the two classed together unwilling to surrender. With each clash of their blades new tricks were involved. Feints, tail sweeps to the legs, the frying pan and more. However, neither seemed to be able to get the edge up on the other and it was after a few minutes of seemingly pointless clashes that the two backed away from another.

"In terms of melee we are quite evenly matched. Your brute force matched by my finesse." the white one said calmly. "It seems we are left with no choice, but to resort to the arcane arts." Or at least that was what the white one thought, but as it went to prepare a spell the orange one charged ignoring the blades entirely which quickly swung out and bullrushed his opponent straight into the wall knocking the wind out of him. That moment allowed the orange one to swing round and slam his elbow into the side of the target and sending him spinning to the side.

"I dinnae need magic to beat ye doon ye ken?" the orange one said spitting slightly. "But if its magic yer lookin' fur try some ay thes." With that a droplet of oil flew from the orange one's finger causing the white one to rise into the air and be surrounded by the oil. Oil which began to boil at an intense pace causing the white one to yell out in agony. "Somethin' Magna woods nae use, but it shoods end thes." Or at least that was what the orange one thought, but suddenly the boiling oil froze solid and shattered allowing the white one to drop down. Its flesh and fur were heavily burned and it looked rather pissed. The orange one looked more surprised than annoyed or scared.
