SmY who is part of the forensic team, analyzes the blood sample over midnight, to find out more of this vampire, his colleagues insisted that analysis can be conducted tomorrow till the new inspector arrives to Era from Talonia. Never in his life did he actually meet a vampire in person nor believed vampires exist but according to the books, there was no doubt it was the blood of a vampire.
“SMY!” Shouted Lofa, his female colleague, she managed to get a change of clothes and the sight of her holding her bag means her imminent departure. “Its really getting late now, we can continue the investigation tomorrow that blood sample isn’t going anywhere you know.” Lofa put on her glasses as she headed towards the door.
“Yeah sure go ahead Lofa, leave me be.” Smy waved his hand, motioning Lofa to go away as he continued to experiment on the blood sample with various chemicals. As Lofa left the forensics lab, Smy was left to study the nature of vampires through a microscope, testing a few drops of blood to see how the cells would react.
Its been a few hours, Smy sat by table with the blood sample across, along with various instruments available. He was simply about to doze off when he started to hear voices. Voices which assumed might have been his consciousness.
“Crap.. am I really going crazy? I guess Lofa was right, I should rest, Dr. Paracelsus would be disappointed if I don’t attend to my duties with the inspector arrives.”
“Maybe I should study the sample more.” Says the voice in his head.
“I don’t see much proof but if it were a vampire, is everything according to the book accurate?” says the voice in his head.
“No, no.. I must get going…” he said.
“Going so soon? He won’t mind, Lofa will be coming to his aid tomorrow…” says he.
“Yeah I think.. wait… these aren’t my thoughts.” Smy’s eyes open.
“Am I hearing things?” He asked himself, after a few moments of silence, he shooked his head.
“I am probably hearing things.” He said.
“I am probably hearing things.” He said again.
“I am… wait, hearing things?” He asked.
“What time is it?” He asked, but shook his head to look up on the lacrima powered clock.
“Its 1Xam.” He said to himself.
“Is it 1Xam?” He asked again.
“W-what? W-who!?” Shivers ran down his spine, he knew he didn’t say that and that voice didn’t sound like it come from his head.
“Who’s there? Lofa?” He asked.
“No.. Lofa went home there’s no way!” He said.
“No maybe Lofa is trying to pull a prank of me?” He thought.
“WHO THE HELL IS THERE!?” He asked shouting in the deep empty space of a laboratory.
“HELL!? WHO’S IN HERE!? GUARDS?” The voice asked, shivers ran down Smy’s spine as he drew a flash light.
“What time is it?” It asked again.
“What time is it?” The second time it asked.
When Smy looked at the larcima powered clock, it was twelve… no.. thirteen am.
“Wait 13am?” He asked/
“Was that always there?” The voice asked.
“W-WHO ARE YOU!? SHOW YOURSELF!!!” HE shouted flailing the flashlight everywhere.
“No.. I must be hearing things.” It said.
“Yes.. I must be hearing things.” Smy said.
Smy ran out of the forensics lab and out into the open, where the sleeping guards were awakened, startled by his shouting. “God dammit Sir, you gave us a heart attack.” The guard stated.
“S-somebody is in the facility!” He exclaimed as the guard removed his helmet to scratch his head.
“Sir I assure you if there was anyone in the facility, our sensors would have picked it up by now and the head security office would notify us.”
“Right… sorry I have to go back, I need to pack up, I’m tired.” He said as he ran back to the forensics lab.
Smy turned on the lights, looking around to see that the forensics lab was empty. There was nothing here, nothing at all. Was it his imagination? He decided to pack up and clean the forensics lab, putting the blood sample back into its case. As he closes the glass case door, an apparition can be seen behind him. Out of shock Smy panicked and looked behind him only to see nothing. “Is my mind playing tricks on me? Smy said.”
“No.. I have finally gone insane? Or Am I really just tired?” He asked himself.
“WHO ARE YOU!? WHO THE HELL IS TALKING!?” Smy shouted as he looked around and in a matter of moment, he burst out of the lab door only to slip and fall down on the floor head first. His forehead started to bleed.
“Its bleeding… Its bleeding.” Smy’s body was shaking.
“G-guards help.. my body…” He said.
“W-who… w-who in……” Smy’s loses vision and consciousness.
The next day, Lofa accompanied Paracelsus in order to investigate the vampire blood, to their surprise they found Smy, lying down on the floor in a pool of blood. Lofa screamed in fear and terror as Smy just lay there on his stomach, his corpse deprived of blood, his pale flesh, dirtied by the crimson red. An alarm was sounded, guards rushed in to witness the horrible sight.
Smy was lying on the floor, dead with his eyes wide opened.
When the inspector came, he was briefed of the situation, first the beggar and now someone from the forensics team. It was confirmed they have no relation at all other than the fact Smy was left behind here to study the blood sample. The Inspector asked if there were any guards in the facility, the answer they received was that there are absolutely no guards in the facility and only familiars and Lacrima vision cameras were present. The footage shows that Smy was shouting at deep space, there was nobody else but him on the scene and it seems he started going mad as if he seen a ghost.
The inspector deduced that they are dealing with the supernatural here, early reports claimed it was a vampire that result in the bloodied corpse down on the street, but having Smy die in the facility with no cause is something, according to Smy, he was hearing voices and saw some strange things. The Familiars claimed that Smy was talking to space when he headed outside the facility.
Was he being manipulated? That’s something the Inspector has to find out but there was one thing that bothered everyone, it was Smy’s dying message. It was read as “1311/13(|” upon closer inspection the inspector managed to decipher the meaning of the message, it was read as…
