Mystery of the Serial Killer in Fiore (Invited) Empty Mystery of the Serial Killer in Fiore (Invited)

Post by Merlin Ambrosius 29th May 2016, 12:52 pm

It happened during midnight, a researcher continues to study a blood sample of what appeared to be that of a vampire. The sample was retrieved from the Runeknights after having discovered a corpse in Era. To think that such crime was carried out underneath the noses of the Rune Knights, they must have been quite stealthy to get pass the patrols. The Victim appears to be a nameless beggar down the street, a few citizens in the city were familiar with the corpse, and the beggar had a lot of jewels in his cup. When he was found the next morning, the beggar’s cup was empty as well as the beggar himself, who was completely drained of blood.

SmY who is part of the forensic team, analyzes the blood sample over midnight, to find out more of this vampire, his colleagues insisted that analysis can be conducted tomorrow till the new inspector arrives to Era from Talonia. Never in his life did he actually meet a vampire in person nor believed vampires exist but according to the books, there was no doubt it was the blood of a vampire.
“SMY!” Shouted Lofa, his female colleague, she managed to get a change of clothes and the sight of her holding her bag means her imminent departure. “Its really getting late now, we can continue the investigation tomorrow that blood sample isn’t going anywhere you know.” Lofa put on her glasses as she headed towards the door.

“Yeah sure go ahead Lofa, leave me be.” Smy  waved his hand, motioning Lofa to go away as he continued to experiment on the blood sample with various chemicals. As Lofa left the forensics lab, Smy was left to study the nature of vampires through a microscope, testing a few drops of blood to see how the cells would react.

Its been a few hours, Smy sat by table with the blood sample across, along with various instruments available. He was simply about to doze off when he started to hear voices. Voices which assumed might have been his consciousness.

“Crap.. am I really going crazy? I guess Lofa was right, I should rest, Dr. Paracelsus would be disappointed if I don’t attend to my duties with the inspector arrives.”

“Maybe I should study the sample more.” Says the voice in his head.
“I don’t see much proof but if it were a vampire, is everything according to the book accurate?” says the voice in his head.

“No, no.. I must get going…” he said.
“Going so soon? He won’t mind, Lofa will be coming to his aid tomorrow…”  says he.
“Yeah I think.. wait… these aren’t my thoughts.” Smy’s eyes open.

“Am I hearing things?” He asked himself, after a few moments of silence, he shooked his head.
“I am probably hearing things.” He said.
“I am probably hearing things.” He said again.
“I am… wait, hearing things?” He asked.

“What time is it?” He asked, but shook his head to look up on the lacrima powered clock.
“Its 1Xam.” He said to himself.
“Is it 1Xam?” He asked again.
“W-what? W-who!?” Shivers ran down his spine, he knew he didn’t say that and that voice didn’t sound like it come from his head.
    “Who’s there? Lofa?” He asked.
“No.. Lofa went home there’s no way!” He said.
“No maybe Lofa is trying to pull a prank of me?” He thought.

“WHO THE HELL IS THERE!?” He asked shouting in the deep empty space of a laboratory.
“HELL!? WHO’S IN HERE!? GUARDS?” The voice asked, shivers ran down Smy’s spine as he drew a flash light.
“What time is it?” It asked again.
“What time is it?” The second time it asked.

When Smy looked at the larcima powered clock, it was twelve… no.. thirteen am.
    “Wait 13am?” He asked/
“Was that always there?” The voice asked.
“W-WHO ARE YOU!? SHOW YOURSELF!!!” HE shouted flailing the flashlight everywhere.
“No.. I must be hearing things.” It said.
“Yes.. I must be hearing things.” Smy said.

Smy ran out of the forensics lab and out into the open, where the sleeping guards were awakened, startled by his shouting. “God dammit Sir, you gave us a heart attack.” The guard stated.

“S-somebody is in the facility!” He exclaimed as the guard removed his helmet to scratch his head.
“Sir I assure you if there was anyone in the facility, our sensors would have picked it up by now and the head security office would notify us.”
“Right… sorry I have to go back, I need to pack up, I’m tired.” He said as he ran back to the forensics lab.

Smy turned on the lights, looking around to see that the forensics lab was empty. There was nothing here, nothing at all. Was it his imagination? He decided to pack up and clean the forensics lab, putting the blood sample back into its case. As he closes the glass case door, an apparition can be seen behind him. Out of shock Smy panicked and looked behind him only to see nothing. “Is my mind playing tricks on me? Smy said.”

“No.. I have finally gone insane? Or Am I really just tired?” He asked himself.
“WHO ARE YOU!? WHO THE HELL IS TALKING!?” Smy shouted as he looked around and in a matter of moment, he burst out of the lab door only to slip and fall down on the floor head first. His forehead started to bleed.

“Its bleeding… Its bleeding.” Smy’s body was shaking.
“G-guards help.. my body…” He said.
    “W-who… w-who in……” Smy’s loses vision and consciousness.

The next day, Lofa accompanied Paracelsus in order to investigate the vampire blood, to their surprise they found Smy, lying down on the floor in a pool of blood.  Lofa screamed in fear and terror as Smy just lay there on his stomach, his corpse deprived of blood, his pale flesh, dirtied by the crimson red. An alarm was sounded, guards rushed in to witness the horrible sight.

Smy was lying on the floor, dead with his eyes wide opened.

When the inspector came, he was briefed of the situation, first the beggar and now someone from the forensics team. It was confirmed they have no relation at all other than the fact Smy was left behind here to study the blood sample. The Inspector asked if there were any guards in the facility, the answer they received was that there are absolutely no guards in the facility and only familiars and Lacrima vision cameras were present. The footage shows that Smy was shouting at deep space, there was nobody else but him on the scene and it seems he started going mad as if he seen a ghost.

The inspector deduced that they are dealing with the supernatural here, early reports claimed it was a vampire that result in the bloodied corpse down on the street, but having Smy die in the facility with no cause is something, according to Smy, he was hearing voices and saw some strange things. The Familiars claimed that Smy was talking to space when he headed outside the facility.

Was he being manipulated? That’s something the Inspector has to find out but there was one thing that bothered everyone, it was Smy’s dying message. It was read as “1311/13(|” upon closer inspection the inspector managed to decipher the meaning of the message, it was read as…

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
The day after the death, or perhaps murder as some people would call it, Deniel had peacefully been sitting inside of a rented room he had in Talonia. He sat down on his chair, his coat hung up nearby with his boots just below it. Beside his chair was the scabbard to his black katana, Nidhogg, and in his hands was the actual blade. He wiped the metallic black surface with a clean piece of cloth, washing the blade and polishing it at the same time. Recently he got back from a mission that turned out to be quite bloody, and he always made sure that his blade, Nidhogg, was kept in a condition that always made it look new. The blade, the hilt, the guard, and the scabbard. He was about half an hour into his work, until suddenly he was interrupted. The long-range communication Lacrima he carried with him everywhere, which was placed down right on his bed so it was already out and open for him to see, started to ring and buzz. Deniel didn't take too kindly to being interrupted, but any time he didn't answer the Council or whatever representative they have, it wasn't good news for him. Lazily he stood up from his chair with the Lacrima still going off, and sheathed his blade in the scabbard he picked up from beside the chair.

He slowly walked over to it, picked it right up off the bed, and answered it. This time the communication was only voice, and no physical or visual projection between them. Either way, it didn't much matter; the person on the other end didn't have much to say. "Deniel Thormun, you must report to Era immediately!"

"Uh-huh... and why is there such a--"

    "Immediately, Mr. Thormun!"

After that, it was just silence. Apparently it wasn't up for discussion or debate... at the same time, he didn't even know what it was about. He looked out the window, nearby on the other end of his rented room. He was all the way in Talonia, a long way from Era. And if he was needed immediately, he didn't really have much of a choice but to fly. A journey on foot would take a couple of hours. Flying would be only a minute or so. He shrugged his shoulders, and slipped on both his combat boots and his coat. Taking his sheathed sword with him just in case, he jumped right out of the window, sprouted his wings, and flew right on out.

He wasn't even told where exactly he should go in Era, but his instincts guided him to the one where there were the most people gathered. Landing just on the outside, the black wings on his back went right back inside of his body. Though already the attention of everyone else was on him; they knew what he was, and they knew what was on the corpse. His eyes gazed around himself, noticing that all eyes were on him. Apparently this urgent necessity for his presence was much more common than he thought it was going to be. Which meant he wasn't called for some dumb old contract or job. He walked to the crowd, and they parted right down the middle for him to travel though, awfully nice of them, but also quite suspicious. Once he reached the end, he saw it right then and there... the scene of the murder. "Hmmm..." his first thought was why exactly he was called here for that, until his eyes caught notice of something else near the corpse; blood that spelled something strangely close to his own name. "Well, well..."

He was approached by someone that was standing just a few moments ago near the corpse. Probably an investigator of the scene, and the first thing Deniel asked him was: "Mind if I take a closer look?" There was a nod in response. And as Deniel made his way over to it, a few questions came his way. Predictable, to say the least. "Any enemies, Mr. Thormun? Someone who would want to get at you?" Deniel crouched down near the corpse, and his eyes gazed around it to see what exactly he could deduce. "No. I don't have many enemies that I know of. Though anyone can call me their enemy and I have no idea about it. I'm a God of Ishval...they know me. I don't know them."

    NPC
    Inspector Frank N. Stein

“Now where are my manners? Allow me to introduce myself; I am Chief Inspector Frank N. Stein, it’s a pleasure to meet one of the Gods of Ishval.” He reached out his hand to offer a handshake. “You were called over here in hopes to reach the conclusion of this investigation but since you claimed to have not known your own enemies then I guess closing this case wouldn’t be as easy as I thought it would, hence I would like permission to get an overlay of your background and past affiliations if you do so mind?”

If Deniel agreed, he’d be interviewed but if he did not then it wouldn’t matter, whether the interview were to be conducted or not does not change the outcome of the what was planned to have happen next. Regardless, both Deniel and Frank were to come up to the security office, an officer of the security personnel presented what appears to be the murder in the streets and filed reports of what happened a few nights before the researcher Smy was murdered.

Smy so happened to be working in the forensics lab late, as told by Lofa herself when she had left him. As you’d know, a crime has been committed right before the very streets of Era, a nameless beggar just so happened to be murdered a few blocks outside the department building. Now for the description and state of the body, the corpse was discovered to have been completely drained of blood, during the night, one of our lacrima visions had caught a figure in the shadows. What we can make of it was that the figure was in robes and is seen carrying weapons, probably blades.

“If you were to ask why you were brought here, there are two reasons: In order to prove that you have nothing to do with this murder, we’ll have to conduct a blood test and compare it to the vampire blood that we had found from the beggar’s body a few days ago, second once we have proven that you’re not affiliated with Smy’s death or the blood drained beggar on the street, you will have to help with the investigation of this case. “

    The interview questions:

    1. Do you have any past relations? Previous foes that could possibly hold a grudge on you?
    2. Do you have any family? If you do, does your family have enemies?
    3. What faction do you used to serve?
    4. Have you committed crimes in your past? If so who were you affiliates?
    5. You seemed akin to the supernatural, by any chance are you a part of some secrecy we aren't aware off? You don't need to tell us about it.

The purpose of all these questions, is to thoroughly find out any possibilities of Deniel's enemies.

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
"Yeah...a pleasure. I guess." It was rude for Deniel to deny a handshake, so he accepted it a little hesitantly, and shook his hand before letting go. Apparently this was the chief investigator... so already they were hitting him up with authorities. He had almost forgotten his status as a God of Ishval, being called over to some crime scene with his name on it. There was no harm in taking in the interview, in fact he hoped it would help his case if there were the possibility that he were some kind of suspect in all of this. That was the last thing he wanted to have happen to him; being accused of a crime he didn't do, and all of his fame and status on the line for something that just had his name on it. "Not that I know of. I haven't really gotten involved in any kind of wars, battles, or entangling alliances with others. The only possibility is this person knows who I am, and considers me a threat." Then he was asked about his family; he didn't really know how to answer that one. Technically his family was dead, but at the same time alive. And their past relations...? That was complex. "Any family I had is dead. All of them. And I haven't the faintest clue what their relationships were." He probably wasn't helping much with this investigation, but there was't much else he could do; even most of himself was a mystery to him.

"I've always been a Legal Mage; before I was the Guild Master of Eclipse Soul, a Legal Guild that has been destroyed and disbanded. Before that I was just a member. Before that... I was a foreigner." And then there came the next question. It was a little bit insulting to him, as a matter of a fact. "The Hell you think I am? Some kind of ex-criminal!? No I haven't done any damn crimes." And then the last one came. "If there's some kind of secret supernatural club... I don't know about it." It was a bit of a sarcastic answer, but it still served its point: he didn't.

Afterwards he was taken to a security office, and he was given the rundown of what had gone by: two murders. There was nothing to make it seem like he did it... so he was just all of a sudden a suspect because of his name? "If you're looking for a suspect, I'm afraid you've hit a dead end with me. First off I only use one blade, and if I cut someone, their whole limb would be cut off. What in the world would I be doing sucking someone's blood? I'm a Nephalem, not a vampire. Take a whole gallon of blood from me if you need it..." If he made his point clear, and if they still needed blood, he was confident it would only mean that he was still innocent. Which must have meant he needed to help participate in the investigation. "Can't say I know anything about investigating crimes... what if I refuse?"

“Mr. Thorum, I know you’re not quite happy with this but we are doing an extensive search on all individuals who share the same name as you, however since this case was that of the supernatural, you by far are the closest, do forgive us for offending you as this crime has to happen in Era itself. Unfortunately some of my colleagues believed that you could have done it whereas you just flew from Talonia if I am not sordidly mistaken.” The Inspector called in the paramedics to get a small sample of his blood but instead of paramedical personnel, a magus came with blood drawing equipment instead.

“P-paracelsus von Hohenheim!” The Inspector was surprised. “The famous Father of Modern Magecraft, its an honor to meet you!” The Inspector bowed down in respect, his presence gives everyone grace.

“Likewise Inspector but there’s no need for flattery, don’t be too surprised this happened in my department after all.” He chuckled as he looked over to Deniel.

“Ah, Deniel is it? You’ve probably have heard of me, Dr. Paracelsus von Hohenheim at your service!” He bowed down in respect towards one of the Gods of Ishval. “I must say I’m actually granted the opportunity to collect Nephalem blood! Oh forgive me Lord Deniel but it’s going to be my first time studying your race. Yours is quite a rarity and out of all the mythological creatures that I have studied, yours is one I have to explore!” If Deniel agreed to have his blood drawn to prove his innocence, then there’d be no problem at all but even if Deniel refused Paracelsus would be persistent about it.

The look on Paracelsus face was that of a child excited to get new candy while holding on to blood drawing kit. The inspector wasn’t amused, he thought Paracelsus would approach this a bit more maturely but only gave out a sigh.

“Deniel, we aren’t going to force you to cooperate with us if you don’t want to but if it really is an outside source, something we aren’t aware of, then you can expect that whoever committed these crimes to come to you naturally. IF you do find the person who caused this murder bring him to justice at once.” Perhaps this is a good thing they won’t be able to catch the murderer if they keep on following Deniel, that’s a fact.

“You really have to forgive my behavior Lord Deniel, I just thought that maybe your blood may heavily contribute to the works of alchemy.” Paracelsus said as he happily used the blood drawing kit to take a few samples of his blood.

“In any event if you see anyone you deem suspicious contact us immediately or you can take the matters into your own hands, I prefer we give you the freedom of choice here and if we really do stick around with you, we won’t catch the murderer this way.

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
Deniel just rolled his eyes and rested his cheek onto one of his palms. "Gimme' a break..." Even after his justification he gave them, which seemed to be quite enough, it still seemed as though there just wasn't enough from him. And then there came someone else... someone he wasn't entirely familiar with, but the Inspector seemed to be. Very much so. "Father of Modern Magecraft" apparently. He didn't really know what that meant, but didn't risk looking like an idiot, especially for a God of Ishval. And especially after he seemed so... enthused about being face-to-face with one. Deniel never really got the big deal in his title; to him it was just something that could strike fear into his opponents, not really gain fame just from being strong. He wasn't sure of the "Lord" part was too much, or... too much. That's all it was to Deniel. He was a little used to just being a vagabond, looked down on; he never once expected someone would even dare put 'lord' with his name. Flattering to say the least, but not really welcomed.

He wasn't too enthralled about his blood being used in the name of science and alchemy, but he wasn't against it being used to prove his innocence. "Go ahead. Take a sample. Though you're not using it for any damn research or studying, understood? I'm a Nephalem; my traits are for myself, and myself alone. This is just to prove my innocence." With his blood being drawn, Deniel started to contemplate whether or not he should cooperate, do it on his own, or just refuse all of this. Refusing it was eliminated immediately, seeing as someone was out for him or to blackmail him, so he couldn't ignore it. Working with them might make it a bit easier, since he didn't know much about investigations and doing such like that... then again he did do it with monsters and beasts for quite a while. How different could a human be? And the Investigator did make a good point that if he had authorities around him at all times, then catching the offender might be more difficult.

"I'll investigate on my own," he said at last. "No offense, but... if they're willing to kill to get to me, then fine. They can come and get me."

Mystery of the Serial Killer in Fiore (Invited) Empty Re: Mystery of the Serial Killer in Fiore (Invited)

Paracelsus pouted and exhaled in disappointment. “Very well if that’s what Lord Deniel wants then I’ll respect it.” His childish demeanor faded away in an instant to an expression that would have most likely defined him as a researcher. His assistant Lofa had a dead expression on her face, it seems she had suffered from Stein’s death and accepted the fact that he’s gone. Paracelsus ordered Lofa to clean the laboratory and prepare the blood samples for Inspector Frank.

Lofa obeyed without hesitation as she enters the laboratory in silence.

    The next evening…

Mystery of the Serial Killer in Fiore (Invited) Hqdefault

There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile,

    He found a crooked sixpence against a crooked stile;

He bought a crooked cat which caught a crooked mouse,

And they all lived together in a little crooked house.

A figure walked across the streets, from a distance it be hard to phantom what it is, in the darkest of nights, when not a single star twinkled, a moonless sky presents itself and only the light from the street lamps illuminate the dark cold roads of Era.

*Click, crack, bend* The sound of what appeared to be crushing
*creak, crack, crunch, chew* The sound of what seemed to be breaking.

What was it that echoes in the distance? A man, it came from a man, a man who twitches who grimace was as crimson as its own eyes. Saliva pours out of this man, it almost seems as if it were possessed.

*creak, crack, crunch, munch* repeatedly the sound of its approach plays, an eerie feeling sends shivers down the guard’s spines as they drew their weapons. As they looked into the man, the man looked back at them and soon they were met with a horrible sight, a monster they had never seen or ever dare dream to exist. It grabbed and snapped their necks, eating away the pieces of flesh responsible for the erection of their necks.

    GROAAAARR!!

What was it? What could it be? No other than a crooked scene.

There was a crooked man, who wore a crooked smile.
His grin was grand, a nature so evil and vile.

He walked tonight to look for a meal

A horror that roamed the area, an image so surreal.

Why did it exist? Why is it here? The mystery unravels itself, to those curious, they better run

there’s no good crossing its path, a manifestation of a man, a monster so feared.

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
Now that all of it was settled, Deniel saw no reason for him to remain where he was. If he wanted to clear his name up as fast as possible from being a suspect of any nature, then it was best he get started right away. "See you both later."

Following the scene there, Deniel had assumed his own pace at investigation. The first step was to take a much closer look, without interruption this time, at the corpse with his name on it. He examined it carefully, and discovered that the cause of the death was by tripping over; the wound on the skull was not created by a weapon, and obviously by the impact of the ground. Though nothing had shoved him either, else the position between him and his last footprint would have been more. And aside from that, he could see the spot in the ground in which he tripped. This all summed up to be that something didn't let him catch his fall... or he didn't feel like doing it. Someone could trip, but he hadn't seen someone dying from it. A person's natural reaction would be to limit the damage, but here? Dead as dead can be. "Hmmm... what about the other corpse?"

Deniel wasn't able to get access to it, but he was told that it had been completely drained of all its blood. There was no doubt in his mind that it was a vampire, but... he couldn't recall a time where a vampire would let someone trip and die. Were these really connected? The only ones they really had was that they were both drained of blood, and the doctor was inspecting the sample of vampire blood. Other than these two leads, there wasn't anything Deniel could go off of. Therefore, he made it clear to himself that there wasn't much he could go on. "Hmm... I'll either need another victim, or find... something. A new lead."

That night, and the next morning, Deniel hadn't really done much to try and pursue whatever it was had been doing the killings. There wasn't really much else he could do, and he wasn't contacted with any results either. It must have meant that they were in as much of a cold case as he was. Though if there was anything he knew about killers, it was that two victims were just not enough. So, he waited, and waited. He wandered around Era several times to see if he could find anything, both during the evening and the daytime, but still had no avail. Eventually he was going to give up searching entirely, until the next evening brought him much more promising results than the previous. It was during the late night, and he was wandering around, not many souls in sight... presumably he was alone. Until he heard something nearby, the sound of crunching, cracking, and... something inhumane. It wasn't far off, and he reached the scene in a matter of moments, witnessing the deaths of guards at the hands of something that looked much less than human, though nothing close to a vampire. Except Deniel made no move to get its attention; perhaps he would scare it off, or it would come for him next. Regardless, all he did was watch in silence, and stare onto the corpses to see if there were any connections he could make from a distance between them and the others he found earlier.

    GRRRR!!!!

    …….

It stopped for a moment, it stopped for a few seconds but what was there it stared at, what caught its attention? Nobody else but Deniel watching from a distance, tension begins the rise and static image blurs, darkness enveloped around its feet as blood dripped from its lips down to the chest. The creature grimaced as a terrible air surrounded it.

    “…!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
A sound so violent, nobody can tell if it’s a roar or a growl, perhaps a mix of both but something far terrible to be classified as a creature or a ghoul which would have groaned. This was no ghoul either, an abomination maybe but of what kind? Its head twitches despite a crooked man, the blackness that he stands would soon devour the earth and the scenery, all to which the deniel’s eyes could see was complete darkness. The Crooked man glow red, its eyes glow red, an aura of crimson starts to manifest.

    *Crack, munch, bend, snap*

It limps slowly towards the direction were Deniel was at, if Deniel was airborne he’d be brought down to the ground immediately for some strange reason, if he were watching from a high place, the crooked man would sprint all the way to where Deniel is in a split second, appearing only a few meter behind him. If Deniel was standing by the streets, the Crooked Man would continue to limp towards him but regardless of what Deniel does, for some strange reason…

….. his magic is gone and he can’t feel magic flowing into his body.

The crooked man let out a crooked roar and limped towards Deniel, and now started to walk and limp.

Walk and limp, walk and limp, walk and limp, roar, walk and limp, walk and sprint, sprint and then limp again, walk and limp.

    *churn, gurgle, bend, snap*

And it roared as it comes closer to him slowly.

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
"Ooooh. Scary." Deniel wasn't the least bit scared or intimidated. The thing didn't look so tough. To him it seemed as though it was the corpse of some kind of man that had hung himself, given the shape of his neck and the corpse. A walking corpse, that's what he was dealing with? Nothing even remotely like a vampire, so what was with the evidence of vampire activity in it all? And this guy was no invisible killer unlike what he saw on the lacrima cameras. Something about all of this did not add up one bit, and there wasn't any correlation he could make. Had he just so happened to have stumbled into something completely unrelated?

That aside, the thing was coming for him, but Deniel wasn't the least bit intimidated. Nothing a Take Over couldn't handle. Triggering the mechanisms in his Magic and body to activate the White Angel, but something had went wrong. Either in the middle or beginning of the process, nothing happened. Deniel tried once more, but to no avail. He attempted a different Take Over, as he could feel himself retreating with backwards steps very slowly. The Black Devil went through his mind, but still nothing had happened. Not even the Nephalem, which was a part of his blood, seemed to activate. He held out his palm, and Nidhogg did manage to conjure itself on his sword, but that was because the Magic that transformed him from pet to sword was completely unrelated to Deniel.

He felt quite tempted to draw his sword and start hacking and slashing away at this crooked man, but... something deep within him told him it was a bad idea. That if he even got close to this monster, he would very soon regret it. If this thing wasn't dead, what made him so sure a katana with no Magical power could kill it? Thus, Deniel had done something he had never done before: run. Without bothering to look behind him, but keeping his ears open about anything that was going on, Deniel turned right on his heels, and ran as fast as his legs could take him. He didn't dare turn to other streets, or alley ways for that matter. All of those ended horribly. If this thing didn't move so fast, then perhaps just outrunning it would be enough; no trickery was needed. At least that's what he thought.

Mystery of the Serial Killer in Fiore (Invited) Empty Re: Mystery of the Serial Killer in Fiore (Invited)

Post by Merlin Ambrosius 13th June 2016, 10:45 am

And soon begins the chase, if Deniel chooses to hide from the crooked man, he may do so successfully as the crooked man would have pass him by but regardless of that, the monster is still within the area.

Everything Deniel sees is nothing but blackness but not darkness as all the buildings in the city had lost all its color completely, the lacrima powered street lamps would confirm it. Of course after a few minutes of losing the crooked man, he’d be found and chased again, this cycle would repeat a few times over as he was chased in empty buildings, public buildings even someone’s property.

The crooked man would chase him anywhere and every few minutes after losing the monster, the routine continues on. There were notes each time he loses the crooked man, notes that had its color with letters written in blood.

    The following notes were received:

    “Come…. He is here… must collect…”

    “I’M HERE!!!”
“Pursue the man, find him and pursue…”

    “Smile…. He’s somewhere.”

    “Don’t let him leave….”

“He must reside in mainstreet and only there….”

“COLLECT! RUN! ……. Down and ….”

    “YOU…. DISCOVERED!”

    “RUN BEFORE… HE GETS YOU”

It seemed that only the church hasn’t lost its color, after a few hours of running and hiding whether he were to go into the church or not is solely up to him but none of his hiding places didn’t work so far for him and fighting the crooked man would have been indeed a bad idea. Each time Deniel collects a note, he can see that there’s a hole that’s punctured in the crooked man, almost as if something shot through it. These bloodied holes multiply for every note he’d collect.

The moment Deniel entered the church, the crooked man let loose a deafening roar and bang on the church’s main doors should Deniel close them shut.

The next morning Deniel ended up lying down on the bed, apparently he’s been sleeping in the living quarters. Its almost noon, he’s in a small room fit for anyone who wishes to live here. The church was empty, the corridors, the garden all except the bell towers were a figure stood there. It seemed like it was a young priest holding a prayer book, and soon he’d descend down towards the halls. He had orange hair and stands at a height of 173cm tall.

    “Ah I see you’re awake…”

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
Come on, again! As the chase ensued, Deniel attempted to once again use any one of his three Take Over Forms. In fact, even after that, he tried utilizing a Partial Take Over; it had been far too long since he did something like that. Though that also had an effect that was less than promising. Realizing that it was practically hopeless to so much as try any kind of Take Over form, Deniel focused on his running, and upped his speed. Luckily for him, even without his Take Overs, he was still a very strong mage and a powerful man. A fast one, too, considering his very nimble build. He found that he lost the Crooked Man very easily, and had a moment to catch his breath, and discover that there were notes made in blood. Directed at him, or...? It was strange. They carried a very similar handwriting to the one that Deniel's name was on. Perhaps the Crooked Man and the murders were connected somehow.

He didn't get much longer to think about it as he was once again discovered by the Crooked Man, and once more found a hiding place. Another note written in blood, this time something different. He was very cautious to memorize what the notes, at least as much as he could, for later. Things around him were getting dark, very swiftly going black. If he made it out of this alive, then he would need to be bale to recount each and every last detail possible to make sure that whatever was going on would not result in his death. He ran and searched desperately until at long last he came to the Church, the only building that was left in a normal state alongside all of the others. The roar entered his ears, and the doors shut... and afterwards, everything went black. His vision, his mind, everything.

He had no idea just how much time had passed, or where he was at first for a matter of a fact. The thought entered his head for just a second that he was dead, but he was in the last place that he remembered... or was he? His eyes opened themselves slowly, and everything was just a tad bit blurry, even the figure in front of him. "I am...?" he asked, though the question was mostly directed to himself. He touched his face with his hand, and rubbed his eyes with his index finger and thumb. "I am... I remember... a monster. A crooked man, actually. At least that's what I think he was. Then he chased me... notes on the walls... in blood. And then I came here before everything went black, and... wait. Was this all just a dream?"

Mystery of the Serial Killer in Fiore (Invited) 419866_289771031090661_1189309397_n
    NPC: Koshirou

The priest boy chuckles as he put down the bible on one of the seats. "Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Koshirou the newly assigned priest of the church in Era."

"Have you not remembered anything that happened last night? You've been running all over town as if something has been chasing you down." He came across the ceremonial hall and towards the doors in order to claim the newspaper to read it while walking back towards Deniel's location.

"I'm impressed with Fiore's system of delivering news to the public, they do deliver such notice at a fast rate." Koshirou was reading the news about the three murders, one was the beggar in Era and the second was the death of researcher Smy, the third one however was reported to be in Rose Garden, whereas a dismembered and rotten body was found. The priest boy sighed as he sat on one of the seats. "Please sit with me stranger."

"Now tell me about this crooked man who chased you during the night." It almost sounded as if the pirest boy isn't going to believe his story but rather curious. It seems his duty to comfort those who enter the church is one of his priorities. Though some stories are hard to believe, some are actually easy to perceive. "What happened exactly and what is it that you see that eyes cannot see?"

Hours before Deniel awakes, Rune Knights gathered at the scene whereas a patrol was found lying on the road with a huge portion of their necks missing and were found in such crooked fashion. Inspector Frank N. Stein arrived on the scene in order to examine the bodies and the lacrima vision that saw everything, apparently Deniel was caught on scene but as means to observe from a distance, then minutes afterwards it appeared as if Deniel was running away from something.

Because of this it strengthened the theory that Deniel could have done it but the Inspector said otherwise as a report just came in from the Rose Garden. Forensics team arrived at the scene only to discover that it was again the work of a vampire. First it was Era but now Black Rose Garden. "This isn't making any sense, the victims are all unrelated whatsoever but what was this vampire after?" The Inspector thought to himself, course there was a feud whether or not Deniel could be guilty or not but there was nothing about Deniel actually managing to chew off the guard's heads.

It just doesn't add up, a vampire is residing in Fiore but finding out the reason why is not easily concluded, on one point they made the victim write the name Deniel but was never specific about anything, unless of course the King of Ishval had an encounter, there's no lead or clue to get by.

Could it be the vampire's activities from Smy's murder caused them to move somewhere? How many vampires are there and if a murder happened in Rose Garden, why has one been here? Were there more than two murderers?

"I guess I have no choice, anyone who has contact with Deniel? I need to tell him about this immediately before this goes public and the press catches on, have them delay any information about this case unless we are certainly clear of the results." Rune knights can be seen everywhere, passing by and running back and forth and because of this incident happening, groups of soldiers from other divisions are coming to Era to strengthen security but as a result, the perpetrator slipped by their defenses.

    Finding Deniel is Inspector's priority.

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
There's more to this. I know there is. That had been one of Deniel's initial thoughts upon regaining the memory of what had happened last night. He sat up from where he had been laying down, and rubbed himself one last time to clear up his vision. And at last, he looked at the stranger that greeted him. "A pleasure. Really." Given any other circumstances Deniel would have not admitted so, but after the horror that had happened last night, he was just happy that he got out of it alive. He had never experienced anything more frightening. Well... he had, just one thing. This one was definitely second on his list. He had almost died, and without his Magic at that. So seeing someone, anyone that looked like a friendly face, was indeed a welcoming sight to him. The man referred to Deniel as 'stranger', which he found just slightly... odd. Anyone should have known his face by now, and unless he was knew to Ishval entirely, then Deniel's name would probably ring a bell. "Name's Deniel." He said, standing up on his feet and taking his seat beside the priest. He kept one of his palms rested on his knees, peering to the ground as if he had seen the face of the crooked man right then and here.

This just doesn't add up. The Crooked Man was nothing like any vampire I've seen or heard of. The priest boy inquired Deniel to share the story of what happened last night. In all honesty, Deniel wasn't really ready to share it with just anyone. As much as he wanted to trust a person from a church, something about this all didn't add up. Regardless, there wasn't anyone around in sight, and perhaps attempting to retell it would refresh his memories. "One thing I noticed was that I couldn't use Magic," he began. Yeah, that was actually the first thing he noticed aside from the man himself and the corpses. "He wasn't hard to lose, but somehow he always found me. Every time I lost sight of him... there was a note, in blood. And very slowly, every building was going black, as if they never existed. All that remained was the church. And then I came here, and... blackness." Suddenly Deniel recalled something that he had not yet learned, and something that was crucial for him to know.

"Wait! How long was I out for? How many days have passed? If at all?"

"Its nice to meet you Deniel." He replied as he continued to hear him out.

His eyebrow raised as Deniel mentioned the word vampire, looking like he finds it a bit hard to believe it, although vampires still exist to this day, for a vampire to actually come to populated areas and leave their dirty work behind is unheard off. Most vampires, especially the ones in Earthland, preferred obscurity above everything else and would usually not leave any trace of their work behind.

And the Crooked Man that he speaks off and the blackness that had followed it was an unusual case. Deniel mentioned something about magic and apparently it has occurred to Koshirou that the man that he sheltered is actually a mage. Finally he asked the how long he was unconscious when he arrived here.

"You were only out for a few hours, you leaned on the door as if you're struggling to keep something, whatever is chasing you, out of the church then you walked a few paces towards the hall and then collapsed but fear not dear child, surely you must be a fellow Christian among mages for you to consider this place as the only light among the darkness." And now he began to jest or at least it sounds like he's jesting.

That was probably because either he believed that Deniel was sucking up to the clergy or perhaps the church was rigged with a few blessed relics that may have protected the place. Though those factors had absolutely nothing to do with the church only being colored in actuality.

"The question is, why were they after you? Can you find some reason?" Koshirou asked, indeed that's probably the question in which Deniel wants to find an answer himself. The doors knock and would soon open, three Rune Knight officers came in. "Mr. Thormun, you are requested to report to the military station immediately, Inspector Stein would like to have a word with you."

Koshirou stood up and gave Deniel an old bronze ring. "Whatever you encountered could have been the works of an evil force, if you want to seek the answer, take this ring and wear it." Koshirou giving Deniel a ring would mean that he believed in his story even though the clergy claimed he had not seen anything Deniel as seen before.

"Now then off with you, it seems people are in need of someone like you, feel free to come to the church afterwards." Koshirou waved as he presented Deniel to the Rune Knights.

As Deniel would have reached the Military Station, the Inspector was already there waiting to meet him. "Welcome back Mr. Thormun, I'm sorry for calling you again but I do feel the need to tell you this but of course you already know."

The Inspector placed several pictures on the desk, one showing a snapped neck of a woman, another a dog with a torn off leg and its stomach opened, two guards patrolling the area died , bleeding with chewed off necks, all victims bled and stained the ground were they lie but the amount of blood however was less than what a human would generate or animals for that matter. Next Deniel was shown a visual of the streets of Era being all normal and such and for some reason he ran into the patrols and watched them killed from a distance, then ran as if he's afraid of something.

What did surprised Deniel is that the places the victims were killed, were the places the crooked man was after him. "We took care of the bodies before anyone else realizes it but for someone like you, I never would have imagined you'd be afraid of corpses."

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
A ring? He wasn't exactly sure how a ring would help him, but there seemed to be no harm in finding out, later that is. Deniel took the ring and gave a respectful bow to the priest boy. "Thank you very much. Have a good day." Obediently, and not without a word or arguing, Deniel went with the Rune Knights to go to the military corps. Certainly he might have a lot of explaining to do after last night, in spite of the fact that he needed some things explained himself. The Crooked Man and vampire blood, it just didn't add up. Unless there was something he was going about that made all of his assumptions thus far wrong. He needed new evidence, a clean plate. And he caught witness at something, so he decided to hold on to that and find out what he could later.

What the Inspector had to show Deniel was perhaps one of the most fascinating, yet solid pieces of evidence so far. The Lacrima Vision could not see the Crooked Man... just like it did not see what was with the professor in the room. Perhaps the Crooked Man was what he was looking for? Before he got that, he needed to get several things out of the way. "Well, I didn't kill em' if that's what you're wondering. And secondly, I'm not afraid of corpses. But before I explain that, there's actually something I want you to tell me; something that might give be a big clue. The body of the first victim, the beggar...was there any sign of vampire activity at all? And the professor? Their blood was drained, sure, but were there even any fang marks on their neck? And I mean small ones, ones you expect of a vampire. If their necks were snapped somehow, then... I'm close." Dead bodies in the same spot that he found the letters. All of this was adding up. And the Crooked Man, whatever it may be, was his primary suspect. If there weren't signs of vampire activity on the first victims, then the Crooked Man was his killer. He just needed to figure out a way to defeat it, or find out its identity.

Post by Merlin Ambrosius 21st June 2016, 10:22 am

“Well the beggar had teeth marks on its neck but Smy doesn’t, he only just suffered a blow to the head and bleed because his skull was fractured, bone splinters went into his cerebellum and it killed him a few minutes afterwards. Blood spurted from his head creating the pool you saw yesterday, at least that’s what Paracelsus told me.” Inspector banged his fist on the table.

“The media caught on before we were able to hide it.” Disappointment is riddled all over Inspector Stein’s face. Of course this would heavily damage the credibility of the security here in Era and the inspector will be blamed for it because he hasn’t found the culprit yet and everyone wants to blame Deniel for it because there’s evidence of him running around that night. The fact that he’s there and nobody else is reinforces that theory but thanks to Paracelsus, there was lack of proof that Deniel did it.

“Well I hope you have everything that you need Deniel, before I forget I hope you read the news lately that there has been a murder in Rose Garden, a corpse was found cut to 50 pieces and yet there wasn’t any sign of having a blade being used, I’m telling you this because I have to investigate this now but unfortunately I can’t carry two cases at once and most of the inspectors in office who were investigating missing persons became missing themselves”

For Inspector Stein this was too much stress for him and now Deniel should clearly see why he needed him to get on the Era case and solve it independently. Stein was handling too much already, the Era murder case, the missing inspector and the dismembered corpse in Rose Garden. “I didn’t just call you here to brief you of the series of murders that happened, I’m assigning you to be a temporary inspector at least until I get some of the mess sorted out.” Inspector Stein gave Deniel a badge.

“If anyone asks, use my name or have them call me via Lacrima handheld, I’m sorry to put you through this but I really, really need to get this all together and filed in, I already had word with the chief inspector so you’re authorized for this, I know you’re not used to having this kind of work but I’ll repay you.” Deniel was given a few papers, there are approximately 25 missing residents in Era with 3 Inspectors missing investigating this case, including Gregor Mckendel himself, information about the beggar is all written there as well as Smy’s.

Now that he has these information and is clearly involved in this case, Deniel must choose his own methods.

    Factors:

April 27 (15 days ago, present day June 11), Inspector Gregor, Inspector Hoftcliff and Inspector Lee were in charge of investigation of the missing residents in Era. There are a total of 25 in total and all names were listed here

June 9, a body was found, the corpse of a beggar everyone knows found on one side, drained of blood and with small bite marks, traces of blood was found in the scene and was concluded to be vampire blood, hence the assumption that a vampire could have done this.

June 10, the body of researcher Smy was found, he suffered a skull fracture and bled to death, Paracelsus was in charge of the autopsy of Smy because Smy was Hohenheim’s subordinate. He suffered a blow to the head and bled because his skull was fractured, bone splinters went into his cerebellum and it killed him a few minutes afterwards. Blood spurted from his head creating the pool.

June 11 (Present time and recently written) several bodies were found and a murder case in Rose Garden happened at the same time, a snapped neck of a woman, another a dog with a torn off leg and its stomach opened, two guards patrolling the area died, bleeding with chewed off necks.

Everything is drawn into place and its up to Deniel how to act, however this doesn’t mean that all clues to this incident didn’t reveal, remember that these must be branched together in a sequence. Anything that Deniel will do will be supported (by yours truly)

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
"Very well, then, inspector. Let me tell you what happened, what the visions cannot see." Deniel stood up from where he had been sitting, and approached a window, staring out into the Era as he explained all of the details he recalled from the case. "Either I'm dealing with different killers, or there is one mastermind attempting to trip me up. All of these corpses were killed in different fashions. A vampire attack, tripping, snapping at the neck, and cut into fifty pieces. Meaning our killer, or killers, have different methods. But there are several links to it. The first is that the Lacrima Visions cannot pick it up. I know what I saw in those crime scenes was a monster; and a monster that negated my Magic. You may or may not choose to believe me, but I have seen one of these killers... The Crooked Man." He turned back to the inspector, "I'm going to face him again tonight. Something tells me I will find him... and I'll see what this ring that boy from the church really does. You can either accompany me, or you don't need to. I'm certain after tonight, though I'll find my killer, whomever it or he may be."

With that, he gave the inspector a respectful bow, and was on his way to pass the time until nightfall occurred once more. Naturally, he was keeping his eyes and ears open in case of another killing or attack.

Mystery of the Serial Killer in Fiore (Invited) Empty Re: Mystery of the Serial Killer in Fiore (Invited)

Post by Merlin Ambrosius 2nd July 2016, 9:23 am

Deniel guessed right and because of these kinds of occurrences happening in Era, there’s a greater possibility that it will do so again. Regardless of what actions Deniel would take would not matter at this point, nothing did happened to Era until midnight completely passed, it was strange that a few number of residents in Era only recently started to come out of their homes, their pure flesh tore off from their bodies and revealing rotten and decayed ones, all their eyes glow red and each of them started to moan. For every door opened, a blood written note would fall as residents come out slowly to different directions.

    Its lost…. Ll is lost…..

    ….. point anymore…..

    .. all die, will die…. hall die…

    … purge… purge… purge…

… has to come here….. has to come….

    … kill everything… EVERYTHING… EVERYTHING…

    … KILL HIM!!!!

Regardless of Deniel’s course of actions what to do here, the crooked man will appear regardless, either if he decides to fight and eliminate the residents or follow them in certain locations. The outcome was all the same but other than the turned residents, they weren’t alone. There were two crooked man, no there are three of them. Soon afterwards they casted a black shadow from under their feet, swallowing the entire scenery just like before. However the black background faded away, the ring Deniel held started to glow and erased the blackness with its illuminating light, dissolving everything that was black.

Night patrols who were active, started to defend themselves, some were eaten and some still fighting for their lives. It was hard to call for reinforcements as numerous of the dead blocked off most of the major intersections in Era, they weren’t that many but perhaps they would be more than enough to lock down Era and preventing the Rune knights from reinforcing from each sector of the city. The beggar was alive; all the victims of the crooked man were alive.

This would have been a nightmare if Deniel couldn’t use his powers but for some reason his magic started to flow normally. The three crooked men split in all directions, one started to attack Deniel with such strength and roared a shockwave, the other was heading towards the Era building along with a number of ghouls, it was almost as if they were drawn to the Era building.

Finally the last Crooked Man with holes on its body looks as if its rallying some of the ghouls to escape from town, probably off to create more of its kind that way.

Alas everything was revealed, its no wonder that the crooked man managed to find him easily during that night. The Crooked Man wasn’t one but many… Now Deniel has to resolve this conflict before it gets out of hand. They were undead as recognized by the eyes of a mage but they seemed quite organized, however they didn’t expect that their “Black field” would have been negated. It wasn’t clearly part of the plan they had.

Deniel would certainly fight the crooked man attacking him, it almost had the same strength as his and is fighting alongside fellow undead.

But there wasn’t enough time to pursue all three of the crooked man’s groups at once. So after dealing with the first group, which one he should go after? The choice is now his but regardless the outcome is the same….

but a scenario will decide the conclusion of this little mishap in Era. The mystery of the serial killer grew more deeper than he’d expected it to be.

    "A wanderer isn't always lost."
The night had been boring at first, but he knew what to expect. At any moment now he could be attacked, or someone. He kept his guard up, but remained in place at the heart of Era. If he moved, it might decrease his chances. At long last, however, the moment of truth came. Midnight. A little predictable, but at least it wasn't a completely random time. One of his suspicions had proven to be true, in the fact that there were not one, but multiple. Three of them, in fact. Just like last time he felt the blackness consuming his vision, and his Magic Power being cut off from the rest of his body. Hoping that the ring had done what he thought it did... it did. To put simply. The blackness faded and he felt his Magic course through his body again. "Let's do this!" He clashed both of his fists together, and in almost an instant he was covered in head to toe with a glorious shining white armor. The White Angel had lit itself up like a star within the dark night sky, and he drew both of his blades on the back. The tables were turned and even now, or so he thought. He had expected to take on all three of them at once, but it seemed as though they had a change of plans. Only one of them came to him... which didn't prove itself to be much of an issue.

With his Magic rejuvenated, he was quite energetic, and wasted no time in engaging with the Crooked Man that came after him. Their strengths were similar, but the will of Deniel and his skill would make the substantial difference. He drew his twin blades, and began to deal with the first Crooked Man while also planning out his next move. One was making a move towards Era... and the other one was trying to escape. The choice seemed obvious. If he stopped the one that tried to escape, that might keep things located in Era. And he was more than certain the guards and the Council could hold themselves off. He swore to protect Fiore, and he would be going against that pledge if he just let these things escape. So, his choice was to engage the one that had been trying to flee.  He finished the one that attacked him relatively quickly; his power and skill was not to be underestimated, and the White Angel specialized in taking out targets with both speed and grace. The twin blades Vita and Mors, now alive and connected to their master's power, cut through flawlessly, and split the Crooked Man's body not into two, nor four, but at least thirty two different pieces.

And afterwards, after dealing with him, he went for the one that he thought he would go for earlier; to stop the one that was trying to escape. He took off from the ground in flight to avoid the victims that were on the ground, and flew to his destination.
