Event ideas.

I was thinking since events are so widely popular and enjoyed on this site. That having dark mage's have more incentive to join them would make the site a lot more fun. As of now legal mage's make it hard for dark mage's to have a good reason to join them. Sometimes even guild-less mage's are a bummer on our fun and enjoyment. Anyhow am getting off-topic in my rantings so I'll rap this up rather quickly then. To put it simply my idea was making it so events had two goals one for the legal mage's and a separate one for the dark mage's. My thinking on this matter was that events had a goal for the npc enemy. The dark mage's of course help the npc enemy to reach that goal of there's like being a bodyguard of sorts. Mainly so that legal mage's don't win the event by brute number's alone; not counting the fact most of the strongest players are legal. This however was just an idea to give more incentive for dark mage's to join public events.

We've already had this goal occur, in Priory of the Wyrm which didn't really work out that well. The thing with Dark Mages is that the light side of things always pretty much has the "Goal" porsay, so unless an event is entirely centered around dark mages, they will pretty much always lose. Even if the Dark Guilds help out the NPC enemy, we probably won't do that well if someone destroys the entire country of Fiore and then just pays us a huge lump some, the Light Guilds still have to somehow make it out and be happy and all that crap. So basically, Dark Guilds always lose... Bummer, I know. However there is always Guild Events, which is cool. But whatevs.

We have considered this highly, which is why in the next event we're going to try and give them an actual reason for jumping into the fray, on either side. I can't speak for the other events, but the one after RT will keep this in mind. Ultimately it will be up to the dark mages what they want to do. I'd give specifics, but that would spoil the event xD

Well the fact it was once tried and failed is a bit of a bummer. But it still doesn't mean that something can't be done to give people an incentive. Whatever happens I hope the the next event is a fun one am looking forward to it in fact my character on this account has changed a little bit. The changes may seem small but they impact bigger things greatly in the end. Much like I hope people may change to join in on events if given a motive. Sadly people don't seem to do things purely for fun anymore it makes my feel a bit odd here; as that why one should be on a site like this. That my thought on it but again am off-topic in my rantings. Sorry about that.

Why is it that everyone notices someone else's plea for plot proposal than me?

I am working on an event that ANYONE can participate in! Dark, Neutral, Legal, Potatoes! All will have choices to make, whether to work together or against each other.

Currently I have people working on making NPC's, which will be made based on plot and not power, and after that it is simply writing out the intro for it and it will be ready to go. The event has long term effects, which even affect the site itself, and lead into other events whatever the outcome will be! (There are multiple outcomes for the event based on choices and who does what!)

Was gonna wait to say anything on site, but saw this topic and felt it would be best to mention it.

Had a random thought to pitch; why not have dark guild or other conquering force(npc, actual or alliance), take over one of the RP areas that are hardly used ( like other nations/places in wakusei). That way darks get some progression.

I am planning a plot myself that could work well though I will need to run it past admins. With a bit of luck it should work as an event for both sides.

fact is, even if Aiyanna develops a plot that lets dark mages partake, what Kissos said was and will always be true. Dark always will lose, period.

Not necessarily. For example, the goal might be to kill off some of the magic council. That has been done before. The rest of the fighting could be as a distraction. Or perhaps for other goals. However, it would only be a loss if every goal the darks are trying to perform is not accomplished.

So say they have five goals
1. Kill a member of the magic council
2. Steal treasure from the royal vault
3. Release prisoners from jail
4. Destroy the research division of the rune knights
5. Take control of the etherion cannon and use it to blast bosco.

Several of those goals are possible without letting the legals/guildless etc have their own way.
We could for example accomplish goal 1, 2 and 3. Sure we didn't accomplish 4 and 5 but its not a complete loss is it?


The biggest issue with events recently is they follow the same pattern. Mysterious group comes along that are really powerful. They are trying to destroy/conquer. Good guys attack them. Bad guys either side with the mysterious group, help the good guys or don't partcipate. Only real goal is save people and beat the big bad guy. We need events where everyone can shine in some way or another. Even a loss can be great if its done properly.

Heero here, some friendly advice for Events from someone who knows.

- Events should be tailored to certain Guilds.

(Savage Skull had several events in their name in the past) This allows for a certain Guild to have not only spotlight, but personal plots that they are going to reveal during the event. An example would be an event named Savage Skull v. Blue Pegasus or what have you.

Pharoah's Call, Grim Heresy, and Basilisk Fang could all use a site wide event such as this. Not only for their members, but for validity in the nation of Fiore and world of Earthland.

Without these types of Events, they're just winging it trying to prove themselves. Instead of more REALISTICALLY, as a group of dark wizards. Inacting a plan that has huge ramifications or happenings IC.

I suggest these 4 things:

1. Tailor an event for Grim Heresy. Site wide. Some major plan they inact that results in a huge battle. Work with Eris / Siren on this.

2. Tailor an event in which two Light Guilds come to blows and perhaps the Dark Guilds capitalize during the chaos.

3. Tailor a Magic Council event in which they inact Martial Law, in every city in Fiore due to recent events by the order of the King. This doesn't have to be a combat event, it can be everyone reacting to it IC. Dark Wizards included.

4. Bring Acnologia back into the fold. It's been about 6 years IC since Yugi ressurected him and Tartarus appeared. He's somewhere out there flying around Earthland or camping in a cave somewhere like Dragons do.

That's all. Do what you will though. :3

With this I fully agree as missions/jobs are fundamentally the same in this aspect. I don't have anything that would be considered an improvement that has not been suggested already. But I do have one thought on the multi-goal idea for events it sound like a wonderful idea.

That's a great idea Zack. A war between Fiore and another nation would be a lot of fun to RP out.

We could even divide it into 3 Topics that take place over a year.

1. The First Battle

2. Midway through the War with _____ (Bellum, Pergrande, whoever)

3. The Final Climactic Battle, either in Crocus in Fiore or in the capitol of the enemy nation.

My initial thought (and i do have plans for this for when I replace Zack) is to have one of the dark guild's frame Fiore for an attack and so they retaliate. The war however is merely a diversion for them so they can accomplish their own goals, perhaps in unison with other dark guilds.

The nation I had in mind was Bosco. As the guild could want to steal technology from them in the diversion. Also, as Black Rose (I think) have ties with Bosco it could add some plot their by creating tension within the legal guilds.


I don't really see the point in introducing a new nation purely for this. We have a bunch and we do nothing with them .

Gee wilikers,  that doesn't sound familiar or anything.  

A lot of this topic is full of stuff Grim Heresy already has plans on doing,  or is doing.

Considering I don't even know who Grim Heresy are I don't think you can really say i seem to be stealing your ideas.

I said nothing of the sort and did not even address you specifically in that respect.  I said a lot of the things being said in this topic are things that are already on to-do lists.

How about we actually finish 1 event as a site, and guilds finish their events before anyone thinks of any other events that are simply going to die out?

Its called planning ahead Ryo. We are thinking of ideas that could be used in the future. Especially as the current event seems to have died for half the threads. It would be good to have an event that doesn't follow the traditional patterns.

How about instead of something that is so dragged out and planned to the point where it affects players actions crucially, we do something less extravagant in the mean time. After the current event of course.... Something similar to the gender swap that happened forever ago. It was simple but everyone loved it!

That honestly sound like fun. The gender-bend idea I mean. Doing something of that sort as a side effect of power gone haywire on everyone joining the event sounds fascinating. I think that would make people have a bit of interest if they want a bit of flavor to things like myself.

I can actually get behind minor events such as "This is what's happening with the world, it's up to you to RP it or not".

Yeah, something like a strange spell cast over the world that causes people to temporarily change genders is actually a pretty cool idea. Or even one where the sun has been blotted out. Even little things that lend itself to the RP environment is a pretty cool one in my opinion.

Hell, even something like a never ending rain that slowly raises the sea-levels would be quite interesting as well (Poor Hargeon). Even if the event team doesn't want to actively host an event, passive events like those also give people something to RP about.
