Face Claim: Velouria (Fire Emblem Fates)
History:
To understand Amaris one has to first understand where she’s coming from. Her being the product of two worlds has her in a position where the world can be out to get her even if she hadn’t done anything wrong. So let’s start from the beginning shall we.
Deep inside the confines of the Spooky Forest lies an abandoned village that upon closer look one could actually see that it’s not abandoned at all. A mixture of wolf and human prints liter the ground leaving behind death and destruction all around the village. It looks like an enormous battle had ensued at one point but to those living in the village it’s just the natural look they all live in and obey by. An ancient tribe of wolf people inhabit the village hiding from outsiders and warding off intruders that enter into their territory. This pack, known as the Gonzangi, is where Amaris originates and to this day she still tries to call it home.
The Gonzangi are an ancient race of werewolves that use magic to transform their bodies from human form to wolf form and back at will. They were driven out of Fiore long ago for fear that their magic was too dangerous and couldn’t be contained. The original founder of the tribe Sorin Von-Bell, Amaris’s great-great-great-great grandfather, gathered up what remained of their people after the Magic Council had banished them and fled into the confines of the Spooky forest where for years afterwards their kind vanished into history with no trace left behind as if they had never once made a mark on the history of Fiore.
At first the tribe struggled as the change from a stable society to pack hunters was almost too much for the tribe to handle. Many Gonzangi fled from the hardships and turned to fleeing the continent but it was Sorin who suggested that no matter where they went they would be treated the same and the only way the tribe could prosper was to be together. Sorin took control of the tribe and under his leadership the tribe prospered under secrecy making sure to never get too big to ever catch the attention of the Magic Council again.
Enter into the present day where Amaris’s father, Zayiner Von-Bell, is the leader of the Gonzangi. He was the first Gonzangi to marry an outsider in nearly one hundred years, a tradition that the rest of the tribe took to heart. The tribe believed in keeping their lineage sacred and pure and when Zayiner broke that it caused a rift among the main families of the Gonzangi tribe. To top it off Amaris’s mother wasn’t just any normal outsider. She was a demonic witch that dwelled in the spooky forest after having been chased in there years before by the very people she was trying to protect with her magic. If it wasn’t for Zayiner Amaris’s mother may have perished in the Spooky Forest but the man felt sorry for her. He saw her as a person who was wronged by the world just as the same as the Gonzangi had been by the Magic Council all those years prior.
As time went by Zayiner fell in love with the witch and took her in as his wife. This didn’t go well with the rest of the tribe but since the man was the leader there wasn’t much they could do. It was the first time that a main branch leader had veered away from the path that Sorin had laid for the tribe. Things changed even more when Amaris was born meaning that the successor to the Gonzangi hierarchy wasn’t going to be a Von-Bell, something that hadn’t happened since the conception of the tribe. The law dictated that only the first born son of the head of the tribe would be allowed to take control when the time came. However after Amaris was born her mother was unable to have another child meaning the leadership would transfer out of the family.
This mixture of magic…this law….ruined much of Amaris childhood. Because of her bloodlines she didn’t have the magic like that of the other kids. The demonic magic overtook and changed the form of her wolf to something that looked of olden times. She could train with other people but not to the extent that her father underwent when he was growing up. It separated Amaris from the tribe and the only other person she could confine in was her mother. It was a sad time for Amaris not being able to mix and mingle with the rest of the kids she grew up with. Never once partaking in the tribes hunting traditions or in their seasonal celebrations.
Then the time came when Amaris turned twenty that she had to make a very important decision. Zayiner was getting older and the leadership of the tribe needed to be handed over. In order to do so the tribe demanded that Amaris marry into one of the other pure blood families once again strengthening the original Von-Bell bloodline that Zayiner had tarnished with his marriage. The man caved to the demands of the tribe and held a competition that would choose the next leader and to be Amaris future husband. Low and behold though Amaris couldn’t stand for this but Zayiner wouldn’t take no for an answer.
So the day before the competition in the middle of the night Amaris fled the tribe back into the confines of Fiore with the help of her mother. The woman bestowed on Amaris the Beast Bane’s Dagger, an ancient weapon that had been passed down in her family, and as much money as the woman had been saving from her time of living in Fiore. With tears in her eyes, the dagger in hand, and taking on the last name of her mother Amaris left the confines of the Spooky forest and began her new adventure hoping to find the freedom and acceptance that she had always hoped for.
