WELL, LATE AT NIGHT, WHEN YOU'RE SLEEPING,

    Job Description:

The shoreline was always a beautiful place that Ahmoria wanted to be; aside from forests and other natural places, the sea was one of the best. She loved the salty smell that coated the air, as well as the chirps of seagulls as they soared above her head, searching for things to steal. On occasion, she often went down to Akane Beach in order to collect seashells and bring them back to share with her plants. However, Hargeon Town had a lack of seashells, which happened to disappoint the young beauty as she transgressed the beachside. Each wave of the ocean pushed up to her feet, barely missing her shoeless limbs as they brought her along the sandy grounds. Mori watched as residents of Hargeon Town ran around the beach, either playing with each other or playing with their children. While it wasn’t the best of places to be, she could still enjoy the sounds of the beach over the screams of annoying humans as they played.

It was the annoying buzz of vehicles as they whizzed by the beach that would constantly drag her attention away from her promiseland. They honked and their drivers screamed at each other, waving violently from the windows at the other drivers they passed by. The sounds made her wrinkle her nose and wish that all of the noisiness would go away so that she could enjoy her natural world. However, in a large place this, it would be near impossible for the sounds to all stop at once for her to enjoy her homeland, This was the very reason why she hated humans because they had no sense of privacy, no sense of respect toward her world. They buggered into her world like they owned it, ruining everything that they could and touching everything with their grubby hands. For once, she wanted to return their favor, but she knew that if she did so, it would cause a ruckus with this supposed Magic Council.

She had only come to this dreaded place in order to receive her passport so that she could travel around the world and see other places. However, because she was a magus from a guild of rather dark status, she knew that she would be fighting for this passport. It was either fight for the passport or somehow lie her way through getting one so that she could receive it the normal way. Besides, she wasn’t someone who would purposefully cause a ruckus unless there was a reason for her to cause such a thing. What she really wanted to do was get in and get out like everyone else, but the line at the passport area was unbearably long. This was why she was down at the beach, so that she could pass a bit of time and allow for the line to shrink before she tried again. Yet, it seemed that no matter where she was, humans were bent on ruining her fun, so she couldn’t even have fun down at the beach.

Frowning, Ahmoria turned away from her path that she was creating along the shoreline, and headed toward the stairs that led into the beach. It would take her a while to get down to the docks where the passports were being handed out, but she figured a bit of travel wouldn’t hurt. Trudging up the steps, the woman clicked her tongue and whistled for her pet, who had long since disappeared somewhere on the beach. Knowing her beast, it was likely busy terrorizing humans as a means for passing time, hence why everyone was running around crazily. Though, it wasn’t long after she had whistled for her pet that the canine-like creature came rushing from the crowd of people and up the steps. It stumbled precariously along the walkway, but managed to get to the side of its owner before the two of them walked off. Her gaze, in the meantime, would meander toward the streets, watching as vehicles honked and played chicken with each other.

Despite her hatred toward the humans, their vehicles were rather intriguing to her, especially how such metallic beasts could move so quickly. On top of that, she was curious to know why they allowed for themselves to be swallowed whole by the strange, almost lifeless beasts. It was also the fact that these beasts seemed to let their owners drive and control them when they could likely control themselves. Instinctively, the woman reached down and petted the shoulders of her pet, her eyes never leaving the vehicles as they walked. Ramaham occasionally bumped into her legs, making sure that its mistress wouldn’t accidentally walked out onto the streets. Her life mattered more than its own and it was that reason alone the young magus loved the plant-like, canine-esque beast the most. She could rely on it for whatever she needed it for, and could expect that it would throw its life on the line for her in an instant.

Before long, the duo made it to the small concession-like stand where passports were being handed out willy nilly to residents. Ahmoria walked right up to the small building, seeing as there was no longer a massive line of Hargeon Town residents waiting their turn. However, she was instantly questioned as to who she was and where she was from, as well as why she wanted the passport. The last thing the person behind the desk asked was if she belonged to any guilds; her first instinct was to say Basilisk Fang, but her mouth said guildless. After that, the woman handed her the passport and told her to have a good day, then closed the shades of the window to inform others it was closed for the day. Mori stared down at the piece of paper like it was a foreign object to her, but briefly smiled and stuck it in between her leaves for safe keeping. Once that was done, the woman clicked her tongue and turned away from the building, heading back to her guild with her pet.
