As the rules are now, Legal mages (And only Legal Mages) must be in the same Guild to form a team.

As many Guilds as there are, this makes it extremely difficult to form a team to go on higher ranked missions.  In a case like mine, I'm the only one capable of taking on missions above S-Rank in my Guild.

Thus I propose that Joint-task-Force Teams be created.  Once S-Rank, You can form teams with members of other Guilds within the same faction, to take on the big missions.  As it stands, The EXP required to rank up beyond S-Rank, is simply ridiculous even if you tackle 100 Year missions, which are extremely tedious.

Joint Task Forces also just kind of makes sense for big missions, doesn't it?  We have an example from the Series, of the gang during the Oracion Seis Arc.

    Sure.

I'm not sure team bonuses apply to SS+ jobs though,  I know Milk doesn't at least.    In which case forming an actual OOC-Legitimate "Team" is almost pointless for doing the jobs to rank up to H.

Guild Bonus & Team Bonus do count towards 10 and 100 year missions.

Or at least the rules don't say they don't >_>

I would personally prefer it if the rules changes to allow teams between guilds that have formed an alliance.

That would give the alliances some point.

This could then be done at any rank and be used to forge stronger bonds

Actually, in the factions thread I linked in the other thread Zack, that is apparently a thing. You can have teams in other guilds if there is an alliance. That just needs to be make more public to people. xD

Bumping because this deserves a second look from the current staff.

I'm still the only S-Rank in Lamia Scale, and as much as I don't want to leave the Guild, I really want to at least have the option of progressing further with my character. The entire guild won't form an Alliance just so I can have a partner to go on a mission with, even if I say please.

I agree with this idea, it would give more of a purpose between Alliances other than just some words of agreement. Even if the Exp boost is minimal compared to just taking on the job with other individuals, it would be beneficial in some form or another.

If its for plot reasons i'm sure Lamia would form an alliance with at least some guilds. You have links to BP as the former guildmaster(my alt Zack Rose) was a member of Lamia Scale before joining BP. Black Rose would also probably appreciate allies (though I think we have PC and GP) in order to strengthen ourselves as a new guild (after we got destroyed and rebuilt).

    Just gotta make it plot.

Also, even if you don't get the bonuses you could still do jobs with people in other guilds. It will be slower, but what is the rush to grow? Just make it plot and enjoy the story

There are 0 OOC or IC benefits to forming alliances as far as I know. IC "Alliances" are also pointless, because Legal Guilds are all on the same side regardless of bonds between them.

It would in fact make more sense to have a Rivalry system, where Guilds who can't ally are specified... For Example: Blue Pegasus has a Rivalry with Sabertooth so their members cannot ally...

That being said, since all Legal Guilds are technically working for the same side, there should be absolutely no reason each guild could pool their resources to tackle extremely tough missions. Like I said in the original post, we have a prime example from the manga of guilds (Who had no prior affiliation with one another) forming a joint task force to take on Oracion Seis.

Except that in that case the joint task force was a specialized case formed by the magic council to defeat a dark guild that was threatening everything.

There is nothing stopping you doing a job with people from other guilds. You just won't get bonuses for it. Is that such a big deal?

The current exp required for H-Rank is 550000

The current exp earned from a 100Y: 168750 EXP

As it is, it requires 3 100Y missions to achieve H-Rank.  You've done a 100Y mission Zack, they're ridiculously long and tedious with upwards of 100 posts with enormous post count requirements and most requires a lot of players to participate.  A mission like that could take Months or a year or even more... High rank mages are not as common as they used to be.  A single 100Y missions is VERY significant.

Call me Lazy, but I don't want to do 3 100Y missions.

The team bonus is 50% which would cut 1 of those 100Y missions out entirely and actually make it seem like H-Rank is achievable.

If multiple members from different Guilds can go on the same Mission, why can't they form a Joint task force team?  The benefits make perfect sense IC and OOC.  Also, like I said in the original post... ONLY Legal Mages cannot form teams with other guilds.  This makes zero sense and is unfair to the Legals like myself who are in a Guild with no other High Ranking mages.  Why must I turn Dark or switch guilds to form a team?  This makes no sense to me.

I've been on 100y jobs and yes they do take time.
However, H rank is now not AS big a deal as it was back when I became H rank.

When I became H rank the spells they cast, their stats etc were all thrice as high as an S rank mage.
Their is no longer as big a gap.
You are also forgetting that you are S rank and there is an SS rank now which I believe, if I remember the systems I implemeneted correctly, is available to everyone. It also provides almost all the benefits of H rank except the extra UA and the H rank spell. (there is some slight stat increases for melee, but eh)

The issue appears to be that you are wanting to rank up quickly as if ranking up should be the goal. The goal of the site, as I see it, is to enjoy the story writing and the story. Not everyone is destined to become a H rank mage, which is why they are limited. H rank tbh is fairly boring because there isn't then much to do.

The joint task force thing was a specialized team especially for that task. So it wouldn't make sense for bonuses to be given for a one time team. However, if the bond between your guild and their guild is strong it would make sense to form a legitimate team.

In truth I think its stupid that we don't allow people to form teams with other people of their alignment regardless of the guild. You're SS and want to team up with GH. Go for it. You're BP and want to team up with LS? Go for it.

The only issue comes really when a legal mage wants to ally with the 'illegal' alignments of independant and dark. Mostly because the MC won't like it lol

I'm only using my own example to demonstrate how limiting and ridiculous the system is right now.

Why aren't Legals allowed to form teams with other Legals if Dark Mages can form teams with other Dark Mages?

Dark Mages can do exactly what I'm trying to get achieved, and can do a reduced number of missions to achieve a higher rank while Legals can not.

This goes for lower ranked missions as well.

If ranking up fast was the only thing I cared about then I would go dark or just switch to a guild with more high ranking mages, but it's not. I want to stay in Lamia Scale and have the Same benefits as everyone else.

You should probably have phrased your argument a bit more like that then. The way it was phrased made it seem like you were doing this just for your own ranking up benefits.

I think the 'IC reasoning' is that the magic council probably prohibits interaction between guilds in that way so if an incident involving a team occurs they know who to pin it on. This isn't an issue for darks because they have no legal body governing them.

The 'OOC reasoning' is probably to make it so darks can level up a bit easier because there are fewer of them and they basically lose anyway. At one point we had six H ranks on the legal side and 0 on the dark. That's not balanced at all.

Still this OOC reasoning is bullshit and so is the IC reasoning. I honestly think that legals should be able to team up with legals for the benefit of everyone. Probably the only exception would be the RK if they still existed.

So here is the rule change:

Legals can only form a team with legal mages. They do not have to be part of the same guild to form a team.
Independants can form a team with independants. Maybe darks, but that risks getting your guild darked if you aren't excommunicated.
Darks can team up with darks and they don't have to be in the same guild.
Guildless can form a team with anyone.

I do wonder if team bonus shouldn't apply if you are from different guilds e.g.
Guild bonus is 25% and team bonus is 50%. For legals this is basically 25% + 25%.

So what if we changed the rule to instead encourage people to form teams within their guild.

    So:
    Same guild bonus 25%
    Same team bonus 25%
Same guild and same team bonus 50%
