    CALL OF THEWILD
Trust each other in the hardest of times [Kanix Laspor & Mitsuo] Tumblr12
As normal, Fairy Tail's guild hall was bustling with sound from its members, and at the center would be the young maiden, Kanix Laspor. She made her way to one of the wooden tables, where she would set her staff against the side of it and take a seat on the bench. Unfortunately, she didn't have the motivation to do any jobs, she had done many of them already and they no longer appealed to her. For once, she didn't mind sitting around for a while, just listening to her guildmates; the sounded far happier than her anyway. Kanix would stare down at her hands, that were clasped in her lap, and a smile would briefly grace the pretty woman's face. A lot had happened before she joined Fairy Tail, and she was amazed that she hadn't been slaughtered by Famine right away. Maybe that's why she loved her new guild so much... because she could trust they would protect her from any harm.

So much had happened to Kanix, and most of it was stuff that she barely remembered much of or nothing of it at all. Her mind would not let her physically remember all of the bad things that had happened to her, and maybe that was a good thing... The woman would let out a relieved sigh and pull her hands from her lap, placing them, together, onto the top of the table.

"You know, I'm blessed to have been given a chance to redeem myself," the shamaness woudl speak to herself in a low whisper. Her hand would raise up to the temples of her head, in which she would press her fingertips to and gently rub the sore areas. "Well, I think we would've just done better if we had killed them all... fooled them into believing that we had changed... But... we did change, don't you see that? We changed for the better!" Kanix would sigh and pull her fingers away from her temples.

Mitsuo was beginning to get the hang of being around the guild hall. Even though it was always busy he had begun to come to terms with the fact that these people were his new family, and that had eased his anxiety quite sufficiently. He ran his fingers through his messy hair and sighed softly and contently. The last job he had done was still bothering him a little bit, the dark wizard he had fought wouldn't give in and Mitsuo had to go further than he really wanted to in order to defeat him. He walked up to the bar and grabbed a cup of green tea, looking to find someone whom he hadn't spoken with before so that he could get to know more people in the guild.

Mitsuo hadn't been in the guild long, but he had also only met about three people from it. One of those people was the guild master, Heero, who introduced him to it on his first day in the guild and his exceed who had stamped his hand. Another was Kazyto who he had formed a team with and the two of them had gone on a couple of jobs together. He liked Kaz quite a bit and had enjoyed the times they had spent working together. He was looking forward to meeting more Fairy Tail members.

As he looked across the hall he saw a woman sitting alone, the only one who seemed to be alone at the moment. He decided he would walk towards her and try to talk to her. "Excuse me, miss? My name is Mitsuo, I'm fairly new to the guild. Do you mind if I take a seat with you?" He smiled warmly at her, hoping that he would be well received. He crossed his arms over his chest, his right hand with his guild mark visible as he had become accustomed to doing since he had been made a member of the guild, something that he was extremely proud of.

The blind mage would lift her head and listen to what Mitsuo was saying to her, shrugging her shoulders in response to him. "Hello, Mitsuo," the woman would speak, though her eyes would not be looking to him, but straight ahead of her. "I won't keep you back from sitting here, as I never laid claim to the table, but you may sit here if you'd like." Kanix would smile for Mitsuo, sightless eyes ever staring at the empty space as she tried pinpointing where he was. She would wait for him to sit down, and once Mitsuo had sat down where he wanted, she would turn her head in his general direction. "I'm fairly new to Fairy Tail as well... I came here only a few weeks ago from my old guild I was trying to get out of." Smiling at him again, the mage would drop her gaze to her hands, fiddling with her fingers as the silence surrounded them.

"Hey..." Kanix would begin, lifting her head up to look at him--well, Mitsuo's general direction that was-- before continuing on. "Do you mind if I feel your face? I-I mean... if that doesn't bother you or anything. I'd just like to know what you look like." In all honesty, it was embarrassing to have to touch people in order to know what they looked like to her.

It didn't take Mitsuo very long to notice that the girl was blind, smiling once more as she offered him the seat. The blank look was somewhat off putting at first, but he didn't let it bother him. He couldn't imagine what it would be like to be missing one of your senses, but he imagined that her other senses worked overtime to compensate for her sight. He thanked her and sat down, taking a sip of his tea and listening to her words, deciding not to ask about her old guild but instead saying, "Well I'm glad I'm not the only new one around here. It seems like everyone knows each other so well." He may have sounded a little sad when he said this, but in reality he was quite happy about how the guild seemed to be so close. The environment was so inviting and it really felt like a family.

When she asked if she could touch her face, Mitsuo took her hands in his and brought them towards his face so that she could do so. "Of course, I don't mind at all. What's your name by the way?" He asked her, committing her face to memory so he would never forget her. As he sat there and she "looked him over" in the way that she could, he was examining her as well, quite curious as to what her magic was or where she had come from. He would love to see what kind of magic a blind girl uses, and how she sees in battle. It was something that he was completely fascinated by as someone who loved to learn other people's abilities and add them to his potential repertoire.

"This is Fairy Tail we're talking about here; this place was designed to act like a family," Kanix answered Mitsuo and giggled. "The very fact that this guild treats each other like a family is what drew me in... it's far different than how Basilisk Fang treats its people." Her fingertips would trail along the contours of his nose and over his lips, gently touching his eyes, then his cheeks and forehead. Blue eyes would narrow, eyebrows scrunched together, as she tried imagining what Mitsuo looked like in the silence that followed after. After another moment of silence, Kanix would remove her hands from his face and place them back into her lap. Images flashed through her head, which gave her a major headache, but there wasn't anything she could do to stop it. "Don't worry, Mitsuo... you'll never be useless to a guild like this, no matter how weak you are or the magic that you have."

Pursing her lips, she would fall quiet for a second, believing that her own name was as important as rocks in the ground. "My name is Kanix Laspor, and if you're curious, I was formerly a dark mage, should you not have been clued in. Oh, and Mitsuo? Please, don't let the thought of dying alone cloud your mind; you are a part of Fairy Tail now, never forget that... for you are never alone." A smile would pull her lips back and she would lift her head to look at Mitsuo again, but not saying anything else. She figured that her finding out about his fears would be something that terrified him, so she would let it settle in. Not that many people knew that she could see things most others couldn't, and she liked to surprise them with it. Sometimes, it got tiring though, and she wouldn't do such a thing as much, but Mitsuo seemed like someone she could pull it off on.

When the girl giggled, Mitsuo smiled, assuming she felt the smile as she ran her fingers over his lips. She was very gentle, Mitsuo knowing that she wanted to find out what he looked like through feeling his features. He had no idea what it would be like to do something like that, somewhat curious but having no interest in asking such an odd question. He decided instead that he would simply reply to her. "The family aspect is why I'm here as well, though I was never with another guild. This is my first, and hopefully only, guild." He chuckled softly and waited until she removed her hands from his face in order to take a sip of his green tea, letting the taste roll over his thumb before he swallowed it.

The next things that she said would shake the young Fairy Tail wizard, as he wasn't expecting anyone to know these things. The first thing she said was reassuring, but at the same time it was a nagging feeling that he always had, and something that he was always afraid of. She somehow seemed to know that he thought, quite often, of how much he wanted to be useful, and how afraid he was of failure. After this she would take a pause, Mitsuo taking another sip of his tea, trying to keep himself relaxed as she would continue, introducing herself. Mitsuo knew that fear of failure was a common one, but what she said next was something that nobody knew.

She addressed the fact that he was afraid of dying alone, and it wasn't just fleeting, it was as though she knew without a doubt that he was afraid of it. He clearly would have a shocked expression on his face, though she wouldn't be able to see it, so he wasn't too worried about it. As she stopped speaking he smiled, her words, while shocking, were extremely comforting. It was a big deal havimg someone tell you exactly what you needed to hear. "Thank you Kanix..." His voice broke slightly, but he attempted to keep it steady. "I don't care about your past, all I care about is the fact that you are a Fairy Tail wizard, which means you're family. Whatever you did in the past is in the past..." As he looked back at her he tried to remember if he had heard of magics that would allow a wizard to know a target's fears, assuming that they existed but never having read about them. It was truly a shocking thing to behold.

"What kind of magic do you use Kanix, if you don't mind me asking? I've never heard of an ability like the one you seem to have."

"I'd like to think that my past is merely in the past, but it isn't," Kanix murmured her reply to him, dropping her gaze back to her hands. "In Basilisk Fang, you give your life to the guild and the master, any betrayal of the guild will result in your death. Because I left Basilisk Fang after having vowed that I would protect that guild, they are out to get me... to kill me. Famine has a bounty over my head... it's only a matter of time before the rest of the dark guilds find out the reward and try to get me. Hell, maybe even some of the legal guilds will try to turn me in to Famine because of the fact I was a dark mage. All we deserve is a swift ending to our lives, in recompense to the lives that we had taken as a dark mage. It's only deserving that someone turns me into Famine, so that they may slaughter me for the betrayal I made."

She would laugh at the idea that she had a bounty over her head now, for merely leaving the guild on her own choice. Why Famine had something like that against her was beyond her belief; she just couldn't comprehend why she did. The entire time she had lived in Basilisk Fang, she had only been a nuisance to the guild master, why didn't she like that she was gone now? Or would Famine only be happy if she had her heart plastered on the mantle of her room, victory to the living?

Kanix would look up at Mitsuo when he asked what her magic was, and she would shrug in reply to him. "I'm labeled as a dark shaman," the woman would say before continuing on, "I contact the Upperworld, Spirit World, and the Underworld. I make bargains with spirits, gods, and demons, who, in turn, give me their power in exchange for something they want. I'm given limited clairvoyance, which means I can see into the future for a small amount of time to decide outcomes. It gives me a headache, but I've learned to deal with the headaches if it means helping me through life."

Lifting a hand, she would lightly tap her temple with her pointer finger, chuckling a bit and setting her hand back on the table. "I am blessed with knowledge that no one else has, so I can see and learn things about those around me without them ever knowing how."

"Well they can send who they will. I'll protect you, and so will the rest of us." Mitsuo would take another sip of his tea. He had heard of the reputation of Basilisk Fang, and the types of things that dark guilds like them did. It made him sick, and it was another part of the reason he had decided to join a guild like Fairy Tail. He wanted to help Fiore and he wanted to make sure that guilds like Basilisk Fang couldn't hurt anyone. He worked on becoming more powerful each day, trying to learn stronger magic so he could protect those who he cared about, his family, people like Kanix. "And we would never turn you in, anyone who would try would have to deal with Fairy Tail."

The girls words had made him a little upset, believing that everyone deserved a chance at redemption, and that she clearly was trying that with Fairy Tail. When she explained her magic to him it didn't necessarily explain the way that she was able to know what she did about him, and her explination for that wasn't overly satisfying either, though he wouldn't press about it, deciding that it wasn't overly important. "Future sight sounds extremely useful, though a tad dangerous perhaps." He took another sip of his tea, his thumb and forefinger on his right hand moving up to his face rubbing his temples. She was interesting for sure, a curious individual and someone he was happy to be able to learn something about.

"You know," he chuckled softly, "I'm realizing that I keep speaking for Fairy Tail without having been here very long. But based on our reputation as a guild, I have confidence that everything I'm saying is true."

She giggled at his words, flattered that someone, who she had just met, would be willing to put their life on the line for her. Putting her life on the line for someone else was something she would never do for anyone because she didn't want to be the one that caused them to get in trouble. At the worst of times, trouble meant death, and she really didn't want to be the one involved in someone's death. A death was her worst nightmare: the agonizing pain of feeling that person slowly lose their life to the Reaper was horrible. Her ability to feel those who died, were dying, or were to die in the future was the very reason why she had left Basilisk Fang. It wasn't the reason that they treated their members like pawns in a game of chest, she did that on a daily basis. It was the fact that many of the jobs she had taken were for killing innocents who did nothing wrong, but anger someone else.

"I suppose, at times, it can be dangerous to see every outcome of a certain event," Kanix rambled to Mitsuo. "But I don't see every bit of the outcome, it's just a certain piece that I'm looking for that my future vision gives me. Sometimes, it doesn't give it to me at all, so I'm still left in the dark quite often, especially when I'm in battle. Because people change their minds and paths so often, my ability to see into the future doesn't work as well, or at all for that matter, when in battle... Do you want to know the worst part of my magic?" She asked a rhetorical question at the end of her better explanation, but wasn't looking for a direct answer. "The worst part of my magic is that I can sense and feel every time someone is about to die, is dying, or has died somewhere. Someone that I know is dying? I can feel their soul being ripped from the core of their body, like your innards being pulled out of you."

A smile laced itself over her lips as Mitsuo realized what he had been doing the entire time talking to her. "You aren't far from it... Fairy Tail isn't a murderous guild, but if one of their members is hurt, all stand beside them," Kanix pointed out to him. "They don't stand for what is wrong, and they'd do everything in their power to make sure that the wronged are righted. The Fairies here, they believe that everyone has a chance to redeem themselves, so they won't kill the dark mages unless there's no hope for them. I doubt, even then, that they would kill them, truly, because of their choice of path, but hand them off to the Rune Knights. At that point, they'd be the Rune Knights's issue, and from there, the Rune Knights get to make all the decisions for them." Kanix shrugged, though she was proud of the views of her newly found home; they were far better than Basilisk Fang's views.

Her words kind of backed up his thoughts as Mitsuo intently listened to what she had to say. Her magic sounded like a curse moreso than a gift and he couldn't possibly begin to imagine what it would be like to feel someone die. "That sounds horrible," he would whisper quietly under his breath. The magic that he had learned had its downsides as well, though not nearly as bad. His memory was something that could be considered a curse sometimes, as there were definately things that he wished he could forget, such as the sight of broken and beaten children in the street, or the vision of his parents dead in front of him. He wasn't sure if he wanted to tell her this, or honestly if she already knew about it. He figured it was something that she might have just known, but he had no idea about how her magic worked. Mental magics were ones that he could never figure out.

As the conversation turned towards fairy tail and its morals persay, he noticed that she was smiling. She told him about the things that he had always assumed about Fairy Tail, and the reasons he had joined them in the first place. "That is why I joined Fairy Tail, to protect people. And because I also believe that everyone deserves a shot at redemption. I know that some people do bad things, but that doesn't make them bad people at their core. They're just people, and they can all be saved and shown the right way." He took another sip of his tea. "I'm curious, what do you like to drink? I love tea, it's my absolute favorite thing in the world." He figured that turning the conversation away from magic and the guild may be a good idea, as he wanted to get to know a little more about Kanix, but also didn't want to keep bringing up the memories of dark things that had happened in her past.

Mitsuo wanted to know what she liked to drink was the oddest thing for her, mostly because no one had asked her it before. She had to think this one over for a minute or two, as there had been lots of drinks that she had tried, but didn't truly like. After thinking it over for a bit, she would settle her sightless gaze back on Mitsuo before she responded to him. "I'd have to say that Star Mango smoothies are definitely my go to drink, especially after a battle or a long day," Kanix answered him. In fact, she hadn't had one in a while, and now she was starting to crave that bittersweet taste of the mango. There were only so many places that sold that kind of drink though, and most of them were not within Fiore. One of those places happened to be Caracole Island, but after it being shrunk down to nothing, she couldn't go there anymore.

"Not a lot of places sell it though, and it's almost being an endangered species of drink," the woman stated shortly after. "It's a bit depressing because then that means I'll find to try and find a new drink that I liked just as much as it." Kanix pouted at the thought of losing her Star Mango smoothie, or even the Star Mango gelato that Caracole Island had. Unfortunately, she really wanted it now, and that would mean she had to go out and find a place that had it. "What about you? What do you like besides tea? Doesn't have to be a drink, it can be anything that you think of." She had shared what Mitsuo wanted to know, now it was time that he shared something that she wanted to know. Of course, if she didn't already know it about him, but that was quite difficult for someone who had her powers.
