    Completed Daniel Trains Some Recruits

Post by Febrakari 26th February 2016, 11:42 am

It didn’t take Daniel long to reach Era, and it was quite a sight. High atop the mountain it sat, in all it’s glory, the headquarters of the magic council. Daniel shifted his toothpick around in his jaw, climbing slowly up the road to the grand gate. It was a mix of grey-blue and white bricks, and in particular, it looked pretty tough. Daniel liked it, reminded him of himself. He passed through the gate, showing the guards whatever they needed to see to pass through.
The white wolf gazed around the city, looking around for some sign about that job he heard of. “Train a batch of newbies for the Rune Knights, find yourself handsomely rewarded.” It had seemed easy enough, and now, as Dan wandered the streets looking for where he needed to go, he felt a pang of nervousness. Damn, he thought, I feel sick to my stomach, but why? The answer smashed him in the face.
A couple of greens, obviously recruits, started clambering over the knocked down Daniel. Dan was quick to shove them off with a loud grunt. “Get off!” He picked them up by the scruffs of their smocks and put them in headlocks, one a piece. The struggled and groaned, trying to wrench free of the big wolf-man’s arms. “Come on dude, not cool! Stop, let go c’mon!” An old lady came down the side walk, swinging a rolling pin above her head.
“Yew think yew can steal my pies and git away wif it!?” The old lady began bonking their heads with the rolling pin as Daniel widened his eyes. “Stealing from old ladies? Really?” The two recruits whined and continued struggling, letting out their ows and oofs with every head smack. “Okay okay, we’ll repay ya! Please stop hitting me!” One of the recruits gave up struggling and hung kind of limp in Dan’s arm.
He reached into his pocket and held out a sack of Jewel’s to the old lady. She smiled, put away her rolling pin into a huge brown purse, then took the sack and squeezed it before putting it in the purse as well. “Thank you dearie.” She grabbed Daniel by the extra fur across his cheeks, painfully pulling his head down to her level. She shook his cheek a bit. “Good Doggie!”  She then landed a resounding slap against his jaw, and Daniel blinked, looking a bit shocked at her.
The old lady walked away, humming to herself happily. Daniel was left with two squirming greens under his arms. “Where’s your C.O.?” They looked up at his face, then pointed off down the street. As weird as you can imagine, Dan took them down the street, not releasing his head locks. A commanding looking Rune Knight was watching over some recruits fighting dummies, rather poorly, in a park looking area.
The Rune Knight took notice of Daniel as he strolled up, and the men under his arms tried their best to salute. “Found em causing a real stir.” The rune knight rolled his eyes and pointed to the training yard, and Dan released them, and they quickly ran off to tell their friends of the escapades. “I’m so sick and tired of recruits. I wish someone would take the job instead of me already.” Dan smirked and moved the toothpick to the left of his maw. “That’s what I’m here for. You need these guys to whip up? I got you covered.”
The Rune Knight raised an eyebrow. “Really? Name?” Dan stood proud and tall. “Daniel Jaruntavir, sir.” The Rune Knight nodded, then threw a thumb behind him. “Let’s see your stuff then, Daniel.” Dan nodded in acknowledgement and ran into the grass and stood in front of all the greens. There were about 7 in total. “Alright! Listen up!” The trainees paid no attention, continuing their gaggling and mock fighting. “Hey, maggots!” Still no response. Fine, Dan thought, So it’s the hard way then. Daniel let a snarl rip across his muzzle, and he growled, a low rumbling sound that quickly built and he began running around the recruits, barking viciously and snapping at shirts and hands.
Needless to say, Dan herded them into one straight line, and the Trainees were dumb founded. Daniel took a deep breath, then walked in front of them once more, wiping a bit of angry spittle from his lips. “Alright, now that I have your attention.” He went down the line and socked each and every one of the men in the gut, making most keel over for a moment. “I’m the sunavabitch who’s gonna command you!”
After the men stood back up, looking at lot more submissive, Dan smiled at them. “Hut, let’s go, push ups until I say stop! Anyone who stops gets to do laps!” The recruits quickly got on all fours and started doing push-ups. Dan walked around them hands behind his back. He would sometimes push them over with his foot, forcing them to get back up as soon as possible.
After he was satisfied with about 130 push-ups, he barked. “Alright, good. Now, Get up” They got up. “Look at the man to the left and the right of you. Now shake his hand, and punch him with the other.” The trainees quickly were all smiles as they shook hands and socked each others guts. Dan barked once more and they stopped. “That’s what it’s like to be in the Rune Knights. hand shakes, and hard hits. You WILL obey your officers, and you WILL NOT steal, or be a rebel rouser.” Dan pointed to the Rune Knight as the recruits did hard salutes. “Yessir!”
The Rune Knight came up and clapped Daniel on the shoulder. “That was.. good stuff. Thanks for straightening em out Daniel.” With that, The Rune Knight held out a small sack of gems and shook his hand. “No problem sir, have a good day now.” He waved to the recruits, saluted the rune knight, and then went on his way. Another day, another bad dog joke.
