ANCALAGON
Ethereal(+)
Species: Thunderbird
Type: Combat Pet
Description: Thunderbirds are the lesser well-known mythological creatures that reside in Fiore, as well as in all of Earthland as a whole. They are legendary beasts of the native Fiorian tribes typically located on the coast of Cloud Sea, though as deep as into Forgotten Deserts. These native Fiorian tribes believe the creatures to be ones of mass destruction, who control the bringing of storms, lightning, and thunder. While not exactly well-known like the dragons of Fiore, they are creatures not to be forgotten about in their time within the country. Being supernatural creatures of power and strength, they are often seen as worthy creatures who are most commonly associated with tribes’ chieftains. It’s said that if a man has a vision of a Thunderbird during a solitary fast, it is said that he will become the chieftain of the tribe. Revered by these native Fiorian tribes, the Thunderbird has become one of the more sacred creatures to the natives of Fiore.
They are typically seen as regular birds of prey, but they come in a variety of colors and designs depending on the tribe a person is introduced to. In some cases, Thunderbirds can range from hues of brown to hues of white or black, with the darkest shade being the rarest out of them. From the tribe which its owner hailed from, Ancalagon is the utmost rare color of its breed known to the natives of the tribe. So much so, that its color is revered by the people and it is said that if a person is able to tame such a beast, they are a god above all. But Ancalagon is not just a bird of black feathers, rather it is also a bird that has a light hue of bluish-white enveloping its entirety. This signifies the lightning that it is able to wield and control, lightning that is in its purest and most natural form known to mankind. The strangeness of this bird and how its owner was able to tame it has led the people of the tribe to not only appreciate them, but worship them as well.
Its size rivals that of the dragons of Fiore, though is no bigger than the King of Dragons and is no more powerful than it as well. Powerful, sharp horns curl out from the sides of its head into a similar shape that is typically seen upon a ram, though slightly less curled. Opening its jaws will reveal that the beast has razor-sharp teeth within its massive beak, meant to break down bones and tear apart meat. Strange, red eyes are capable of blinking and casting out lightning bolts and wings are capable of beating and causing the sound of thunder. Though tamed, Ancalagon is often ridden bareback by its owner, but when more than one person come along, a saddle can be seen upon its back. Ancalagon’s massive size allows for it to easily transfer a total of five people from one place to the next without being burdened by weight. It also has an oddly intellectual connection with its owner, as though they are able to speak to each other through their minds.
