    K
ateri continued channeling her magic power into the world around her, slowly making the massive magic circle overhead grow bigger and bigger as it began glowing brighter. The bright blue glow set against the dark clouds of the thunder storm Lexa had brought with her made for the spell to seem considerably more powerful that it actually was. A ripple of energy shot from the magic circle, sending a spherical blast of energy out that seemed to hold no effect on the world. However, soon small droplets began floating gracefully from the magical anomaly.

A memory came back to Kateri as her spell was being finished. The memory of the trials and tribulations she had to go through to learn this type of spell. How she had to exhaust every last bit of magic she had in her to take down a dragon, relying almost entirely on Shadow to keep it busy while she scurried about like a rat in the walls. She remembered how she'd started strong, running about and using the dragon's enormous size to her advantage, and primarily used her launcher to deal damage to it.

Another memory flashed its way into her mind, about how she woke up to find a letter next to her from the new guild master... that tiny blue-haired, B-shonen lookin' spit fuck named Ni-ju that Kateri wanted to hug the hell into before taking orders from since he was so adorable. The letter had told her that she was granted permissions to enter the restricted section of the guild hall, including the library which housed almost as many books as the non-restricted section. She remembered sifting through hundreds of books while she recovered in the infirmary, having sent Kazimir to get them in her stead. Having done that made the demon a known face in the guild, as well as gave him some time for himself since he normally hid in Kateri's shadow until she called for him.

Another memory that fast forwarded her all the way to when some of her magic returned, and her body was still covered up in bandages. She had begun training her magic, reading from countless books and recreating the spells as best she could. Some of them, most of them really, had strained her so much she could only practice them once per day. This spell she was casting... it was listed as an extremely low ranking spell, but was so grand in size that she only managed to practice it once a week.

Finally, the glowing grew more intense as snow began falling down on the field in heavier numbers. Her golem had nearly finished transporting the children, being half done by now.

ack on the Sentinel, Lillian was watching blasts of lightning slamming down on the water's surface in rapid succession. A small smile formed on her face at the sight since she rarely saw Lexa exercising her magic anymore. Before, Lexa would constantly practice using her light and dark spells on dummies, people, herself personally, or even on trees and bushes. Then, after her circuits got ripped out, and then replaced in the same instance... she just stopped. It was also after that, that Lexa stopped smiling, laughing, being weird and annoying to others. She stopped calling everyone family, and turned into an excessively cold person when compared to her former self.

Lillian took a deep breath, slowly exhaling while letting the thoughts void her mind for a while. At the moment, she had an entire ship to run and didn't need that kind of stuff fogging her thoughts up and preventing her from doing her job. "Uhhh... Miss Grimoire, we're 30 knots out. You're orders ma'am?" the voice came in on the intercoms. "I see something going on there, get a sniper and tell me whats happening please." she responded. A man wielding an enormous rifle with a scope that was nearly as large came running onto the deck and laid down at the very front. "We got a lot of massive snakes moving about cap'n. We're in range to fire, what's your call?" the sniper called over the intercom. Lexa would let them get closer to keep accuracy up, but Lillian was different. "Engage the displacement drive, take us out of line of those ships. Diagonal movement, then light the candles." she replied, her soft voice sounding more confident. The crew noted the lack of caution, and respected her decisiveness at such a young age. "Aye sir!" the voices called from the deck as the ship began to hum with the sound of magitech being used. "Displacement core online... charging... displacement effect in t-minus 15 hold onto your balls." the voice called to all the members of the ship. The ship made a massive leap, closing 5 knots at a forty five degree angle. "Displacement core charging for second leap, give us a few moments cap."

A small sigh of relief escaped Rae's lips as she saw the last few onlookers get inside the warmth and safety of the ship's walls. Smiling at the people politely she thanked for their help with the children before closing the doors to the inside, making sure no cold air can go in. Looking up, her crimson eyes landed on the small snowflake which just passed in front of her face. The Duchess loved snow for her entire life. It made no sense really, as she was a devil not a Yukki-onna, but everything icy was attracted to her, or was she attracted to it? As a child she could remember how her father would schedule as much important meetings as he could during the winter- he was never in his office. During the summer however his he barely worked and would stay holed up in his bedroom or his office saying he was sick, the heat of the season was something he couldn't bear to feel.

A hiss woke Rae up from her daydream of the good old Havoc family times. Glaring over to its source, the devil came face to face with two opponents not so different from the ones before. Their toothy grins and scaly skin annoyed her. She could definitely sell their skin off for a good price, serpent-skin bags were quite fashionable in the hierarchy at this very moment, their teeth could work for jewelry. Shaking her head at her own thoughts the female reminded herself that as a light guild mage she could not go to Talonia's black market and sell things off as she pleased. It would not only harm her good reputation with the fans and ruin her chances of getting back up on her family's throne but it could get the magic council to label her "dark" if they were to find out.

"I guess Ill just serve you guys to my ship as dinner then." The wizard said calmly as she ran a hand through her hair. The creatures seemed to understand what the Duchess had said as they hissed at her again in a somewhat disapproving manner. As she enveloped her hands in shadow balls, Rae threw a couple at the snakes, hitting them straight on the center of their heads before jumping off of the edge of the ship and landing on top of the mouth of one of them. Quickly she punched it's skull several times before taking out Ghelgath and slamming the dull edge of the broadsword down onto the serpent, quickly defeating it. Instead of letting it fall back into the ocean however she slit off it's head and using her wings and devil strength, which allowed to pick up much more than the average human, the noble dragged the body of the serpent back onto the ship. She really did intend to use it for dinner. Turning back to the other enemy however she could only tilts her head as it had swam off, probably scared at the Duchess' fast work with its kind.

he casting complete, the massive circle overhead let off a final pulse of bright blue energy that shook the entertainment vessel. Despite being such a low leveled spell, using so little magic, and requiring little effort on Kateri's part the spell itself held tremendous power. Hundreds of tiny, rocket shaped items all began falling from the magic circle. Each arranged roughly one meter from each other, the fell slowly or seemingly so as their distance from the water's surface was determined by the bottom of Lexa's storm. Some of the serpents below the water's surface had gone and stopped entirely, slowing their advance towards the two ships and poking their heads above the water surface. Shimmering pockets of ice, each filtering the ambient lighting as it passed through them. The result was a dream scape, a strange pareidolia where the raging storm above was completely blotted out by a mass of shimmering blue lights, replicating the sky's color and acting as the water's surface in a glorious unison of sea and air.

The world was in slow motion as the mass attack came down. Falling like the first snow of winter, gracefully dropping out the sky as countless snake like creatures watched in awe at the shining world above them. Just ten seconds... that was all it took for Kateri's special weapon to make contact with the water. But in those ten seconds, every last serpent reached nirvana and realized they messed up. The rockets individually were worthless, each only creating a one meter explosion that froze the water as it erupted. However, it wasn't just one or two... but rather it was five hundred of them all exploding and freezing at the same time. The force of the collective blasts rocked the entertainment vessel, freezing the deck over and killing off Kateri's golem as it protected the children from it. The various explosions had caused a massive plume of ice, snow, haze, and magic particles that obscured the ocean from view for quite some time. Kateri let out a sigh of relief as she'd finally cast the spell perfectly, though she did feel a bit weak as she walked towards the edge of the ship to scan the water. The white cloud that engulfed the battle ground made the task rather daunting, it was only till several long minutes when the haze began to subside that Kateri saw the tip of several massive spiky structures beginning to show. Soon, the rest of her spell showed its true colors.

An entire field of frozen serpents laid before the entertainment vessel. Unfortunately, the attack also froze much the her vessel as well as the cruise liner that had brought in the Duchess, Rae Havoc. The ice was getting thicker, making it so none of the ships would sink from the weight of the frost on them but it would make it dangerous for the other ship to leave. As soon as it separated from the ice that locked it in place, the ship would either capsize, or just go straight down. 'Shadow, get to work on unfreezing that ship.' she ordered while holding onto her forehead as the world became unstable for her. Kateri sat down on the edge, her magic power began destabilizing from the immense stress the spell had put on her. It didn't use much energy, but controlling it and sustaining it took more physical energy and focus than even the best sniper in Fiore could take with stride. While the serpents had all been disposed of, there came the matter of getting all these people to Lexa's ship. Kateri lifted her sniper, the large object feeling much heavier than it normally did. Her arms felt like jelly, her head was spinning as she forcefully lifted the scope to her right eye and shut her left. The ship was thirty knots out, and Kateri still had to summon her plane to get them there... Suddenly, the world turned black for the young ice mage and her body went limp. The sniper as the first thing to become loose, falling before she did and hitting the many feet of frozen water first. Soon after, but not by a great margin of time, Kateri herself slammed onto the sheet of ice completely limp.

illian watched as a wave of shimmering blue sparkles fell from the sky over the battle field she and the crew Lexa had put under her command were approaching. It was like nothing she'd ever seen... the amount of power it would take to encompass such an immense area, to control so many individual things, to keep it from exploding prematurely... to do all of those things would take more magic power than Lillian herself could muster. At least, that's what she thought. Had she known the spell properly she'd know that it took next to no magic power at all. She would know that the effects of it were more a physical fatigue than magical exhaustion; but both cases were hard for the individual to deal with since it left them in a considerably less favorable state of being.

"Twenty knots out captain." the voice came in over the intercom. "Thank you." Lillian responded in a voice so sweet that honey seemed bitter as hell. The crew at this point was far too busy to concentrate on their melting hearts. One of the new guys, who's name no one initially cared to remember despite it being plastered onto his uniform, had erupted from his station and charged at his commanding officer shoving a printout from a radar scan into the officer's hands. He was panting heavily, trying to catch his breath after learning parkour in under ten seconds, having to had jumped over five people, slide under a pipe, slide through two more pipes, and vault over a missile just to get to the door. The officer looked at it, an enormous creature easily half the size of The Sentinel had showed up. Looking over the scans before, the one directly before showed it slightly smaller, the one before that didn't show anything at all. The beast was something that lurked in the depths of the sea, only coming out when there was the promise of more food than it normally got... With the sheer amount of other sea serpents, and the humans that were on the cruise ship... the amount of food it would have was immense.

"C-c-capt-tain..." the voice came over the intercom. "We... we got a situation here..." he said nervously looking at the large beast under the ship. "What is i- ... oh... well shit." Lillian began her statement with curiosity, ending it with the first swear she'd ever said. The back of the creature rose above the deck of the ship, the poor crew not expecting it all ran back to avoid being hit by it should the beast attack. It was moving towards the three fighters at a much faster pace than the sentinel, easily getting out of range of the crew's guns in moments. Lillian wasn't worried. Lexa was the fastest, most powerful mage Lillian had known of, and she knew that Lexa could take on the world if it charged her.

Meanwhile, back at the battle zone Lexa had barely managed to dodge one of the falling objects. She watched as Kateri passed out, falling onto the field of ice her attack created completely limp. Had Lexa not been a human fly zapper, she would have gone down and helped her, but as it stood she would have killed Kateri the moment she touched her. However, much to her surprise a man appeared from inside Kateri's shadow. He looked like a butler and picker her up as though he were cradling a very large, black cloak wearing baby. A single push of the frozen ground and the man was soaring, landing on the deck of the entertainment vessel helping the girl to wake up so she can finish her task.
