Kondo sleeping soundly on his cot, he gets a rude awakening from non other than his landlady, Old woman Nora. She threw a piece of paper with a rock inside to make the impact harder, “Kondo...another job was posted on the board,” as Nora explains to Kondo, “this time you get to travel to a little town near the Ancient Ruins for another job.” Kondo can see her optimism and agreed with a grunt. Kondo went back to bed and slept for another few hours, and understanding if he denies the job the Old Lady would persuade him one way or another. Kondo knew that the orphanage was doing badly because it isn’t getting any funding. Because Kondo is indebted to Nora for saving his life, actually it wasn’t Nora but her husband who saved Kondo from death’s doorstep. Kondo woke up few minutes later and came down to eat with the foster children. Sitting down at the unoccupied adult size chair, the children stares at Kondo while they continue on eating their breakfast. Without a word Kondo left for his job, but before he left completely he smiled back the children and gave them a thumbs up. They smiled reassuring that Kondo will return to them safe and sound.
Kondo finds the old man looking timid and beat up, sitting on a bench at the location Nora provided, so Kondo can start his job. The Old man, Kondo has a soft heart for old people, wishing they won’t push as hard as they should at a certain age so they can enjoy the rest of their remaining lives. Kondo walks up to the Old man and introduces himself, “Hello, my name is Kondo...I was sent by my old lady, saying you have a job for me.” The old man stares at Kondo for a bit and suddenly smacks him on the head.
“Never call any woman an old lady ya hear?” The old man has more energy then what he appears, that blow to the head came at a surprise and it could have knocked Kondo if he didn’t have that sand shell on himself. “Now, as for the job I think it might be too much for you...” the old man speaks as Kondo has no experience, “you do realize you have to defeat the whole army right?” Kondo listens silently, not wanting to say something that might offend the old man’s value. “But that lady, Nora told me you are the best in town...”
Kondo thought to himself, “Of course that old woman Nora would say something that exaggerated...” Kondo continues, “maybe if I defeat all of this army this old man speak of I can get some sort of recognition and aid the orphanage.” The old man continues to talk while Kondo was speaking, finally Kondo said something out-loud, “So if I do this mission, will you help the orphanage...Nora” Kondo said Nora in the most awkward tone, “runs?”
The old man looks at Kondo and speaks as the village itself is under poverty, the village doesn’t make enough revenue and that most of the villagers are poor. Either the old man was trying to run away from helping others or the village near the ruins is actually in worse condition than the orphanage. “I agree to the job you requested, even if my life counts on it,” Kondo speaks bravely, “I will not let you down.” The old man scoffs and together with Kondo they traveled to the village.
