For Victor the preparation of tea was almost like a religious ritual, not that there was anything sacred about it. But the entire ordeal of making the perfect pot of tea was time consuming and was done with so much care by the butler. That one could almost consider it that way
Naturally it was nothing so special of the sorts, but more a required skill set that was expected of a good butler. And just as so many, this one as well you had to excel at.
So the sweet and warm scent, of a red berry tea blend slowly filled the air. The aromatic extravagance tingling the very nostrils inside your nose. The blend, according to Viktor, was the perfect choice for the rather abstract situation he was in.
Standing in a small room, that served as a kitchen, living compartment and bedroom at the same time. Was Viktor, along with the man he had been tracking down the past few days. A man that according to the job sheet was a fugitive. A criminal that managed to escape the law, yet was foolish enough to hide out with his family. A young mother with a daughter of the age of five. In fact that stupidity to hide out with your loved ones, is what made this job so abstract. Instead of fighting Viktor the moment he stepped through the door, the convict fell on his knees and pleaded for some extra time with his family. That all he wanted is to say a proper goodbye.
Obviously Viktor had granted the mans wish, as he was know standing above the stove. Taking in the aromatic scent that was filling the air in the small room. And as he started pouring it into four distinct cups the scent only got stronger. Instantly creating a warmer mood.
'After this we have to go sir' Viktor said while serving out the cups.
'Off course, I remember the deal.' the man replied after which he focussed on his family again.
He was a rather large man, long and strong. The woodcutter type if one must say, or that is at least how Viktor saw it. But it was the man's probable strength that peaked Viktors interest. No it was that the man actually had the smarts to bargain instead of fight. Sure he was driven by emotion, but it could had gone the other way just as fast. In fact, the fact that the man actually thought before he acted irrationally made him perfect as an underling for the guild. And his attachment to his family made it even better, a man with a family was easily exploited. May it be through guilt, debt... or death.
'i'm done...' the man eventually said.
'Off course, then shall we sir' replied Viktor while walking up to the door. Which he pushed open and held open until the other man had walked through. 'Say have you ever heard of the guild Savage Skull by any chance? No? Well...'
But before the spouse could hear the rest of the what the elderly man said. He had already closed the door behind him. Leaving them only guessing. However while he did so, Viktor looked back, only once. just right before he closed the door. And upon seeing the family, he knew what he had to do.
