Hmm... I think the signature spells still dealing normal spell damage would be fine, personally, since sacrificing say an artifact weapon that'd normally give 2 S-rank abilities and melee damage for an S-rank signature and A-rank spell. You're losing out on an S-rank spell for an A-rank one, and losing melee damage, but getting a much more spammable S-rank spell. I don't see why that S-rank spell should have reduced damage, since you're giving up a fair bit for them. Additionally, if you really want to make sure they're not spammed, you could put a rather minor cooldown on them that only lets them be cast once or twice per post, that way you can still cast it a bunch, but not to any obscene amounts.

Hmm but an S rank sig spell(spammable) does almost three times that of an artefact grade weapon wielded by an S rank. On top of that it has range, potential for elemental effect (say you're using a fire sig spell and you fight an ice opponent). Then again as fred said a 'signature' spell should be a spell the user is famed for and can cast with ease. Limiting the amount of times it can be used per post if it has no duration...could be interesting.

What do you think of the updated trades though? They seem more balanced? Or are the trades now giving too much?

I think it seems pretty fair, and keep in mind that while you would get an S-rank signature, you also only get an A-rank spell instead of another S-rank spell from giving up an artifact, the boost in mana from giving up + grade slots was really the big dealbreaker, since getting every item slot + grade would give you like 40% more MP in the end. If you are worried about signature spell spam, limiting casts per post would probably be for the best, since yeah, an S-rank sig spell may do about 3 times the damage of a weapon attack, you would only be able to cast it once or twice per post, whereas you could string multiple weapon strikes in, so the damage would probably come to be about equal. Weapon attacks could also be ranged, if you were to use a bow or gun.
