    Private Nightmares at Spooky forest

    Post by Cake 22nd November 2015, 12:29 am

    Job::

    Sometimes she wonders why she even bothers to do work, although getting money is one of the obvious reasons. Some of the jobs that she accepts are way too difficult but the one that had brought Kayla here had a reward of 1,000 jewels that was enough to pay for at least a months rent! A offer she couldn't ignore although she would have preferred to work alone the guild master insisted that she brought someone with her and now here she was.. Coughing, Kayla had cleared her throat stuffing her hands in her pockets and giving her partner a intimidating glare. They were both rookies and D-ranked, Kayla would have felt a lot more confident if she could of worked this mission with someone that was B-ranked like Lexa but sometimes you have to work with people that you don't want to work with. "What was your name again?" Kayla asked with a nonchalant tone "Dont feel bad, Im not good with names."

    Marschal was not that open of a person, but knew if he wanted to do certain jobs, he would have to take others on them. That was the deal with being a mage: learn to work with others and you would succeed in life a lot quicker than you would alone. Life was all about that--connections-- know a few people, higher ups would like you a lot better than some who have worked harder than you. Have connections? Well, then you are good to go! No need to work any farther than you have already happened to work. Marschy stared back at Kayla, besides having agreed to go on the job with her, not many words were spoken between each other.

    "Marschal Leigh," he answered her a tight voice, no more relaxed than he was when he was asked to do this mission. He turned his attention away from her, ran his hand through his long, black hair and stared ahead of him, discontinuing answering her.

    What a weird name. An eyebrow slightly rose at the sound of the boys name, although she didn't question it she just glanced away and looked at the job request. Mumbling something under her breath and stuffing it away in her pocket again. "Job looks tough, sure you're up too it." Kayla Croft had asked, she was fine doing this job solo she had confidence in her abilities although she couldn't say for the same for Marschal.. however you say his name. Kayla took another glance at her partner, Marschal didn't look too talkative but no matter Kayla wasn't very talkative as well. When this job is done both of them would part ways, probably never speak too each other again. In either case the pair should get moving Kayla didn't want too be in the Spooky forest when it was dark. "Come on we're wasting day light."

    "I've honestly done harder," the mage responded quietly to Kayla, looking at the job description. It read something about a Spooky Forest, and that some woman had been possessed by a demon, which interested Marschy. Demonology had always been his favorite subject, and he wasn't sure why, it had just always interested for some reason. So, this was sort of his forté, considering the fact that he could manipulate the very fire from the demon's domain. His eyes shifted back up to Kayla when she mentioned something about wasting daylight, but he highly doubted it would matter. He cleared his throat and turned away from the job board, rolling his eyes in the process, though Kayla would not see it. "This is the Spooky Forest, we're talking about; there isn't going to any source of light in that place. You can expect the very least, that we'll be in there for a few hours without much light at all. Besides, didn't you listen to the lacrima recording? The forest is so dense that it just isn't a good place for lighting at all."

    Kayla Crofts eyes narrowed, why was he bragging? She hated working with snobs. "...In any case." The brunette had said looking back at the forest, she had a bad feeling whoever had named the forest was right.. it was incredibly spooky. Although the name 'Spooky Forest' wasn't exactly the most creative thing you heard. Kayla sighed, it was always work after work and some jobs just werent up her ally. Also the mission didn't even start but Kayla felt distrust at her other partner.. Maybe it would have been better if her and Lexa just formed a team. Kayla's eyebrow rose at Marshy, she then had realized how stupid she had been for saying that. In any case, they still would be wasting time just standing around. "Right.. forgot about that." She said coughing a little after she had said that. "Lets head in then." Kayla said as she entered the forest and already the lightning was poor, she would hardly be able to make anything out.. Creepy mission indeed, "Stay close okay?" She called out to her partner.

    Marschal rolled his eyes at Kayla and followed solemnly after the nuisance, though his walk was borderline slower than a tortoise. His ears perked forward as he heard her say something about sticking close to her, which made the half-breed laugh. "I won't be far behind," the man stated, stuffing his hands into his pockets and looking along the forest boundaries. It was a slightly creepy place, but in all honesty, he was not scared of the forest in the least bit, it was just dark. He yawned slightly, and slowly caught up to Kayla, his eyes quickly adjusting the sudden darkness that enveloped them. Even more so, a fog began to curl around them, just as the lieutenant had said would happen the moment they entered. "Spooky," Marschal joked, making little ghost noises toward Kayla as they walked. He was being the more annoying here, but he wasn't even sure what they were supposed to be looking for in the beginning. "What is even the point of this job?"

    Kayla sighed, honestly.. she fucking hated this guy. The brunette practically had goose-bumps all over her and with Marschal making stupid ghost sounds was not helping at all.. Glancing over she had snapped at him. "Honestly! What are you a fucking five year old? Quit!" She had said her fist clenching in frustration, she couldn't wait too deal with this demon freak and high tail the fuck out of here. "The fucks with this fog?!" The brunette had felt like she was going to lose her mind during this mission, she was stuck with some immature guild-mate while being in the dark unaware what could happen. They were at a huge disadvantage, sighing Kayla had shook her head this dumbass.. "Did you even read the job description? Or Listen to what I said?!" She slowly started too quiet down, maybe yelling wasn't such a good idea anybody could hear her. As she walked she hit her head against a low-hanging branch which scared the living shit out of her. "Ow!! What The hell!"

    "Someone can't clearly take a joke very well," Marschal grumbled, clearing his throat afterward and looking back at the surroundings. "It didn't specify what we were supposed to do other than just explore this damned place, so I don't see much help there. Would you quiet your voice down, too? We don't know what the hell is out here and you could be attracting shit." His red eyes glared back at Kayla, and due to his feline nature, shone slightly in the light that shone down from tiny shafts in the leaves. When Kayla jumped and complained about being stabbed by a branch unknowingly, the half-breed smiled and chuckled a bit. "It's just a branch, see?" the mage stated, walking over and snapping the branch off to poke her with it. "Scared of trees now, are we? Who's the five year old one now?" He tossed the branch aside and beckoned with a hand for them to proceed forth into the unknown, dark, scary forest.

    Kayla had felt her body trembling, man oh man! She didn't know how much she just wanted too ditch this guy and complete this mission on her own. "Hahahaha.. Nice one" She had said forcing her laughter. Sighing the girl nodded with an annoyed look, "Yeah yeah! I know." When Marsh had snapped off the branch Kayla had scoffed glancing away a faint blush on her face. "I-I totally knew that.." She had stated still glancing away before a vein had popped in her forehead, did he just make fun of her? "Shuut it or I'll pummel you!!" She had raised her voice again although nothing seemedto have happened. As she followed Marschal she had heard foot-steps nearby. The brunette had felt anxious and her heart beat had raised, were they discovered already?

    His ears flicked backward, catching the sound of footsteps that Kayla had heard, only to him it felt like it was more than one. "Someone's close by or something for that matter," he rumbled, moving a little closer to Kayla in a defensive, almost protective stance. "It doesn't sound like just one person though, it sounds like it's more than one. . . or maybe that's just me. I honestly don't know right now." The hanyo glanced around warily, pupils dilating as he tried to see farther along the forestry, though nothing came to sight. "Don't say another word after this," he murmured in a tone that was just slightly lower than that of a whisper. His ears pricked forward again, but he could not hear the footsteps, just the eerie silence ringing in his ears like it previously had. He bared his fangs at the air, skin crawling from the silence.
