The mountains had been a place filled with life and curiosity lately each crag seeming to hide a vulcan or if you looked to the distance the shadow of the guild Infinity Hydra had been growing as of late a soft sigh coming from the spider as she stared at it from her perch at the opening to her cave. “Each moment they encroach on my kingdom further. . . I need a way to finish these insolent fools.” A soft smile would grow across her face as she saw her spiders skittering to her with humans covered in cocoons of her silk in their grasp being dragged behind as she knelt down and pet her childrens head, “Oh~ My children you know how to cheer mommy up~” With a quick lick of her fingertip she would open the cocoons showing a unconscious woman who had seemed to look like she was down on her luck a soft smile growing as she slept. “Oh how cute the food is having sweet dreams~ Feed her to the newborns.” With a point the spider would bow and drag the woman off that blissful smile on her face.

Each chip in the walls of the cave were slowly repairing themselves as shadows morphed and twisted around them each one at an origin of Inerta herself as she walked in each of her spiders carrying their food to the directed areas. With each step leading her through the maze like cave she would end up at her throne room with the only way to truly find it being the line of only slightly whiter silken thread that leads there something normally only her spiders could follow and herself. With her quickly taking a seat she would sigh and lower her hand to the side of her throne made from web and bones tearing out a line of upper intestines from a fresh body next to her eating it like spaghetti and slurping it up chomping down half way through as the other part falls to the ground getting eaten by a hoard of smaller spiders. “Tch. . . This is beginning to grow tiresome.” she would scratch her right shoulder the faded Basilisk Fang tattoo almost gone as she sighed. Before she could even begin to think about what was going to happen today to stave of her boredom one of her threads began to vibrate signalling an intruder as she heard her children screaming to kill someone and heard their screeches as she would morph into the shadows and come up behind the intruder a scary look on her face as she hissed out her words, “What are you doing here? Need a kill another foolish human who wanders into my domain you insolent fool?”

Perhaps, it's better relics be left to the sands of time,

rather than be dragged along as a memory

    Alexander

Many people thought the wilderness was a safe place to hide. To distance oneself from society and the spread of information amongst it. That was not entirely true however, provided you know the proper sources. Hikers, gathers; many people spend their time outside the city, and are more than willing to share their sights and tales. Obviously, not all was true, but sometimes it was a good idea to investigate it regardless. Such was Alexander's current goals. Tales from an empty bar of a monster lurking in the mountains, consuming anyone who drew near. Beyond human, a creature unknown to the world. Could such a thing truly exist? Alexander was anything but a skeptic, so he decided he would investigate himself. The trek was hard on him; he was no where near physically fit, so reaching the cave alone was nothing but pure perseverance.

Slowly entering the mouth of the cave, his sword hung by his side, sheathed but ready for any moment. On the opposite side, an old tome was open, prepared for any notes he may take. His motion was silent, yet he doubted it would be enough to obscure himself. Skittering all around him, millions of frantic eyes watching. The cave was positively infested with arachnids. At least it explained the decor; the thick layers of webbing at every angle. He weaved through it carefully, making sure not to break a single strand. It wasn't his place to ruin their work or homes after all, especially when he was the guest.

He hadn't noticed the presence form behind him, enwrapped in thought and absent minded observations. It startled him slightly, his body jerking before quickly freezing. Beyond the shock however, he had no fear. Tightly wrapped in his cloak, his presence was completely concealed. He turned slowly, most of his face hidden in the shadow and cloth. All that could be seen was his eyes, meeting the creatures blankly. "Pardon the intrusion, I assure you I meant no harm. It appears I missed the signs and warnings marking your property." He was still uncomfortable with the language, his accent thick and voice soft. Breaking eye contact for a moment, he absorbed the creature's form. Truly beyond human, it was if a spider was making a mockery of one. Such a thing was unheard of, and it brought him excitement, or at least the closest he could feel to that. "I had come to see the 'monster' people had spoken of, but seeing our conversation, I feel that's not a proper description. If you would be so kind, do you have the time to entertain a simple researcher?" He bowed slightly, his frame tiny and meek. An eternal servant, even to a spider.

Looking to this strange intruder she listened to their words of apology and even assurances of no harm words many an intruder had said before and of course ones she never once seemed to listen to. “Tch No harm hmmm. . . Children come to mother tell me of this . . . Person's deeds.” As her children collected themselves thousands of spiders varying in size and venomous nature were all hording the hall they resided as her red eyes seemed to look over Alexander with a curious nature. The chittering of her children caused an eyebrow to rise from her as she heard of the fact that the intruder had killed not a single of her children nor even broke the webs themselves used for defense. “Judging from your voice. . . I can assume you are neither from here or even used to the language. . .” With a soft sigh she would look around to her children and keep her eyes on this intruder as they asked their request and even chuckling slightly at their bow. “One such as you I would normally turn to food; however, due to the curious way you carry yourself. . . And more importantly the fact you went out of your way to avoid damages to either my home or my children I shall entertain you. Not here however but in my throne chamber.” With a soft skitter down from the wall and to the side of the guest she would shift into the shadows them still with her and following within the shadow itself as they quickly moved to her throne room. Within the shadow world they were traveling through the sight of a massive world made from white, grey and black threads would be seen all in odd shapes and patterns many looked like spiders but one could be seen to look like Alexander in a more female form which soon faded as they exited the shadow in front of a massive open chamber light coming from the sun above as silken strands seemed to filter the light in like a mirror, and at the end of the room a large throne made from both strong black we and many a human bone.

As they entered the room she would gain a small grin on her face letting go of Alexander's arms and sitting in her throne a finger tapping her upper lip as her grin grew into a smile. “And here I was thinking you were male. . .But I guess my nose and the Threads of Reality are never wrong and to top it off you are under a chronolock Tsk Tsk I never thought to meet another immortal.” With a chuckle the red eyes of her children could be seen from the only entrance and exit to her chamber as she waved her hands for them to leave a soft chittering could be heard as she glared their way, “Oh don’t you sass me I said give us space now MOVE.” With a sigh she would look at the woman, “Now then I will tell you my name and in return I want yours and two other things, one I want you to remove the hood and two I would request you tell me the reason you are here besides research.” She could tell or hoped she could that one does not go into a monster's lair looking for simple research that is a fool's errand no matter what one would try and as her curiosity was piqued she wanted to know what would bring such a frail young woman into her domain.

So far, he seemed to have gained her trust. Good, that was a start at least. He was prepared for combat beyond this, so any alternative was better. Still, he didn't exactly seem welcome, nor did he feel such. So his hand stayed near his blade, not visibly, but in a range he knew he could draw quickly from. She grabbed for his hands, and every reflex in him wanted to draw, but he resisted, placing faith in his safety since she drew him closer. For a moment, he seemed to leave reality; wrapped in a world he didn't quite understand or comprehend. Every part of him wanted to question, uncover, and figure out the world before him. He knew better though. Such things were better left for the time being, without the proper information he could go mad trying to understand. Besides, he was more focused on their contact. Behind him, his grimoire floated open, it's pages filling themselves out.

Returning to reality, he shook himself, regathering his bearings and senses as she moved to her throne. He scanned the pages, noting the new information. The book had made it's entry on Inerta; triggered by their physical contact. But he wouldn't read it yet, for that would too much time and he still had to address the spider in the room. Turning, he nodded softly, standing before her throne. "Of course, that is the least I can do. I assure you, I was simply bundled from the journey, and had no time to remove it myself." Throwing back the hood, he revealed himself. Androgynous, his skin pale and hair dimmed to a pale white. Round and soft, but showing clear signs of improper care. His smile was small and courteous, but there was a misleading innocence in his expression, blank and natural. He looked to be in his 30s. Despite his lack of effort, there was a natural charm to his appearance, and with proper effort he could shine brightly.

He scanned the room, allowing her a moment to take his appearance in. He knew not what magic she had used, but she knew of him now. Composing himself, it had been a long time since he was called she. It was not that he felt shame in his gender, but long ago he was forced to cast it aside, and had simply never seen the reason to pick it up. "It's been a long time since I was referred to as a woman. As well, immortal. I don't feel that's fair to say, I am far from it. I am simply a stain that will not be cleaned from the tapestry of life." Lofty words, with a soft inflection and gentle expression. The picture of submissiveness. "But, as one who's lived this long often experiences, you eventually run out of goals. So yes, I am here simply to research. I don't really have anything else I do to pass the days." He chuckled softly, his expression never breaking from the mask he wore. "While I hate to sound rude, and forgive me if I do, now that I have given my name, I would like to request yours. As well, I'd like to inquire why one such as yourself is out here."

Listening to the woman speak she would hear what she says with a hint of curiosity as she would begin to tap her lips with a grin growing, “My my a woman such as yourself forced to act male? You are from an old society it seems. . . And as for your appearance I can tell why one would find you male it is very curious though I have to admit I find it rather cute of you~” With a soft chuckle she would rise up from her throne walking towards Alex as she received her information she wanted, “So you are here just for research hmmm? knowing that it might be fun to keep you around for a bit to answer your questions.” She would run her chitin covered finger slowly along Alexs shoulders before getting right up to her face with her own all six eyes looking right at her. “My name is Inerta. My last name I have forgotten all I have left is my brood and my curse.” With a sigh she would turn back to Alex and sit back in her throne, “I am in this cave because I have been here since time un remembered as the mother of all spiders I have been around in this world a long, long time.” Tapping her own pedipalps where human legs should be she would sigh looking towards the woman and grin, “You must know what I mean. . . As your memory begins to fade with time things become harder to deal with memory begins to mean less and you find sanity drain from you.”

With a sigh she would look away from Alex tapping her chin, “As to why I live here it is because it is the most I can do to keep my children safe. . . Spiders are all my children when they die a part of me weeps for their loss and another screams for the same pain to happen to your kind. . . Humans are revolting monsters. They kill my children because they think them ugly or scary.” One of her hands drifted down to an armrest as she began to grow angry the hand crushing a skull on the rest, “And yet when I kill them for murdering my children they call me the monster. It is for this reason that I am out here. I seek to give my children a safe home but that is a distant dream.” With a sigh she would turn her head to Alex, “People like you are rare you judge not by the title of monster but by action it is rather curious to me that any form of human would do such a thing. Honestly I tried my best in the last guild I joined one called Basilisk Fang. . .” rubbing the almost faded tattoo on her right shoulder a soft sigh would escape her breath, “Yet I could not find home there no. . . While they did have their goals of conquest which aligned with my needs they have no a clue about family or the needs I hold instead they were a simple form of conquest, no backbone to them or a sign of power. Tch. . .” With a sigh and a look towards Alex once more she would walk up to her and smile bending down so that her towering stature was on the same level as her, “And what of you? Do you belong to a guild?”
