Warnings

I come to notice that positions are being stripped without warning people before hand. This is unfair and unreasonable. My main account as Alyia has been hectic and I have spoken to admins about warning people of their activity before their positions are taken from them and having them look in the farewells before stripping positions. I know that as Alyia I have posted that I would have a lower activity in both staff stuff and in posting. Yet, this has not happened either time that positions have been stripped. This is something that we need to fix because something so substantial being taken from you without a previous warning is disrupting and will force a person to change their story abruptly. I know that this account is mainly for development.

Also, in stripping positions admins should take into consideration if the person can post in topics that they have started. I know that Lamya has two threads going on, but in both I am waiting for the other person to post.

Again I am going to reiterate my point in that staff needs to give a warning before stripping a person of their position.

Agreed. It's how it was in the past when I was staff with how Kyll did things. It should remain that way still. RL sometimes gets the jump on us and keeps us away for longer than we want and might not have time to post up anything to say what's going on so that warning could remind the person to speak up or even discussing a personal issue that happened to keep them away.

While some of those people definitely needed to be removed, I agree people should be given a warning.

I agree greatly with this as a simple warning or notification from an admin stating that their slayer position was going to be taken from them if they didn't post within a certain amount of time would make all the difference, especially considering how busy some people may be and having their magic tied to their character would result in people leaving the site because of this or creating a new character entirely to replace the one who lost their position after putting so much work into it.

I'm gonna agree with this. It's highly unfair for someone to be stripped of a position without prior warning, especially if it is over something such as inactivity.

Ignoring the fact that they posted about their absences and had very good reasons about those absences doesn't seem right considering that some of them just came back and to have it stripped quite suddenly like that without warning seems wrong.

Heya should say that I think it's clear we all agree with the need for warnings, And I think all the staff involved in that merely would be reminded of when a warning should be issued.

Though my thoughts on it if the staff don't have a system in place already is to issue a warning after a month of inactivity, then give a week for them to respond to the warning. If they do give a warning about a disappearance but not clear on how long they will be gone then maybe wait two months before a warning is given. Just my thoughts.

I agree in the case of slayer positions and golden keys.
I do not agree in the case of Wizard Saints and the like. These are pretty much just 'yay i'm important' positions. They can be used for character development, but it also makes sense plot wise that if you haven't done anything for some time then the magic council won't acknowledge you as one of the strongest or the up and coming anymore.

However, should an absence be posted thats fine.

I'm iffy on the whole 'if they are just waiting on posts then its fine to let them keep it' purely because there is nothing stopping you just creating a new social thread with someone.

When I get home today i'll speak to Thorn about it.
In truth how this should work is the following:

A post is put up in the thread stating that these people are currently inactive and the positions will open in say....two weeks....unless reasoning or whatever is provided. Thus allowing people to be like 'oh that is opening up soon maybe i'll apply for it' and get thinking on their openings for applying. Then a PM should be sent out to all the relevant members issuing that warning.
