Calico sat slumped over in the back of an old rickety wooden cart being pulled by a slow-moving horse. Snores sneaked out of his drooling mouth until the cart's front left wheel bumped over an unlucky stone in the cobble road. The man jerked awake and searched his surroundings for his whereabouts. A bright blue sky and a lively sun floated above him while the scent of freshly cut grass and well groomed gardens graced his nose. Regular town chatter and the rolling of wheels against the cobblestone made up the majority of the noise that occupied the man's ears. Calico wiped the drool from his lips onto the wrists of his metal gauntlets and twisted his head to meet the cart's driver to ask, "Mister, we 'bout there?" He spoke gently like any man blessed with a rejuvenating nap would.
The man grumbled, "Mhm. We in Magnolia Town now. Not much longer." The age-stricken cart driver bowed his hat-covered head in a somber tiredness. He gave everyone who passed by the impression he worked as a farmer which was not inaccurate. Calico happened upon the man while moving through Onibus. A tired Calico had offered him a few coins in return for a ride to Magnolia Town and the farmer willingly obliged for the Jewels.
Calico stretched his legs out and leaned back against the front of the cart. He stared up into the blue serene sky as he reached over for the light leather bag in the cart's corner and pulled out one of its abundant bread rolls. He tossed the succulent roll into his mouth and savored its moderate warmness. When his teeth finished chewing through it, he asked the old farmer, "Tell me about the guild again, Raphael."
The farmer smacked his lips and sighed, "They're trouble makers... all of them!" He squinted to keep his eyes on the road as he contemplated something more substantial to comment on. "They be lead by a man named Heero Reyold." Raphael grumbled some more and Calico reeled back into his own thought train.
"Reyold huh?" Calico smiled and reached into his bag of bread again.
"Hey! We're here! Get out of my cart!" Calico pulled his eager hand from the bread bag and hoisted it over his shoulder. His head swayed over to the large building that stood out from the commercially correct buildings they had passed through the town. The words Fairy Tail covered the entrance's banner and the guilds famous insignia hung just below the great bell at the top. Calico chuckled at how regal the guild hall appeared. He almost felt like royalty approaching a castle.
"Thanks for the ride." He smirked at the back of the farmer's head and hopped off the wooden cart. He whistled a low tune while he approached the glamorous door. He did not know if he should treat it like a private building and knock or a public one and just walk right in. He chose the latter. Calico entered into a cafeteria-like room and looked around with a portion of confusion filling his head. He felt awkward and a little ignorant about who to speak with. To keep himself from becoming a fool, the man took a seat at one of the tables and laid his bread bag on the chair next to him. His presence was not the least bit secretive since his metal boots thumped loudly against the wooden floorboards. He looked a little lost but content enough.
