Personality: Calico values conviction and creeds. He believes men should choose dogmatic codes to live by no matter if they're evil or good or something else entirely. Above all, he believes men should hold onto their creeds when faced with death. People often disappoint Calico in that regard. A good man who preaches the sanctity of life might be quick to kill his neighbor if only to save his own life. Those sorts of people are the kind that disgust Calico the most. When he witnesses people hold onto their beliefs while at death's door, he can become swollen with respect and sometimes admiration for that person. This mindset of his reflects how high he holds the concept of honor in his life. While honor might not be a virtue in most peoples' books, it is very much one in Calico's. As anyone who knows even that little about Calico could guess, he would rather die than sacrifice his honor.
Calico's own creed revolves around suffering. He regards a person's willingness to suffer for others or a cause as the scale of how much merit a person has. This can manifest in Calico through brutal training regiments and over blown acts of kindness like traveling long distances just to deliver a gift. This can also be a catalyst for a lot of unexpected behaviors. Accidentally hurting Calico or tricking him into something painful will be quickly forgiven for instance. He thinks of pains like those as the kind of suffering a person has to go through in life to become a better person. Even an enemy who has emasculated or injured him can be quickly forgiven. It's not that Calico is a very forgiving person. He just doesn't hold a grudge against pains and instead views them as times of learning.
Anyone who has known Calico for just five minutes could tell you he's a calm person. Not in an apathetic way but in a serene way. This constant serenity can give him the appearance of a monkish person in contemporary clothing. This calm look only rarely gives in. Even in combat situations, it can prove a challenge to anger the man but an opponent who manages to do so would be well rewarded since he iss not so used to dealing with those kinds of heated emotions. An opponent who fights him might baffled or annoyed that he can keep so calm even when defeat is apparent for him.
Even though he might be a man of honor and pride, Calico does not fuss over following under someone into combat. He thinks of it as just another sacrifice he has to make. And besides that, he just plain doesn't like being in charge of people. As a leader, he can be pretty light headed about tactics and knowing who is better at what.
