’Why would this be of something important? I don’t see why the usual guild-bound mages couldn’t accomplish such a task.’ The thought came more with a bored intonation as the man walked towards these supposedly creepy forest…or whatever the locals opted to name it. He’d somewhat expected different duties when he joined the knights, never mind more intriguing work as someone in a more spy-based sector…but perhaps the bardic man still had to prove himself with some grunt work? It had seemed a little easy, but still he was used to expectations and reality not matching up so instead the dark haired mage shrugged it off.
Wind whipped at his coattails, the long, blue jacket dancing a little behind him as tree leaves scrapped together, branches wavering a little like clawed hands that might strike out a moment’s notice. ’Mmm…spooky…for perhaps a child’s horror short story.’ The dark atmosphere could lead some people’s minds astray, but the tune of the scenery matched a multitude of other instances from his memory and instead created a further calm within Faeral. If anything he was more bored waiting for his partner than creeped out by the somewhat dark and dreary ambiance.
But in the other man’s defense, Faeral was a little early.
It was more a desire to get this done and over with knowing his efforts would be critiqued when he returned. More than anything the man was sure he was either bugged or somehow being watched – likely so they could actually gauge his potential and work. ’Could be dear Rassy spilled the beans on how “little” I helped with the slavers. I guess I’ll have to make some actual visible effort with this one.’ It’d been the reason Faeral waved away Morphine’s company, the dependable woman usually not far behind him and yet he chose to leave her back at home this time. ’Besides it’ll be interesting to witness the darker side of the legal guilds. Wonder what it is the council sees in them. Oh well, they probably informed him of his Rune Knight help.’ The fact that they'd spilled the beans on his affiliation was a bit annoying, but he could manage all the same. Merely another obstacle to deal with once he found his partner.
