Job: Suicide Hunt: Slay the World Serpent
Rank: 100y+ GUILD SCALE EVENT
Player Requirements: 4H+ (More is strongly recommended but gotta set a minimum somewhere).
Players of any rank can join this hunt, as rank means little against the World Serpent to begin with.
Requires several Battleships and/or Guild Ships at player discretion. Minimum of 1.
This job can be taken on only once by any measure, as there is only one World Serpent. Once the job is taken, it is taken. If not completed within 6 months or the job is canceled, that topic is rendered non-canon and a new party (including people from the old party if they want to retry) can attempt to slay the World Serpent.
Job Requirements: 100 posts total, min. 450 words per post min.
Job Description:
For centuries as far as human civilization has known the oceans of Earthland have been plagued by a threat of godly proportion. The World Serpent. It lies in the deep waters of the ocean, somehow not generating catastrophic tsunamis with every twitch, and destroys any ships attempting to travel the sea.
Fiore Guilds and Rune Knights have been tasked to send support to slay this World Serpent along with fleets from every country in the known Earthland, all sailing out into the ocean waters to assault the monster wherever they encounter part of it's colossal length.
15 total posts are required to receive word, prepare, gather with other mages and RK, stock ships, and sail out to the ocean.
When the ocean is reached one designated player will roll a single monster die. When Boss is rolled you have encountered the World Serpent. The World Serpent is dozens of miles wide and thousands of miles long. Surprisingly, it's scales are tiny being only the size of dinner plates. It takes damage as though it were a typical fish with no added durability. Every attack is capable of rending the serpent's flesh.
Problem is, with its size, that damage is almost nothing and may not even draw its attention.
Your goal is to deal as much damage as possible and try to slay it.
The designated player continues to roll the monster die on their post. If Boss gets rolled again, the serpents head comes into view on the distant horizon like the shadow of a mountain range.
If Boss gets rolled a third time, the head looms dangerously close, it's mouth wide sucking up the sky and ocean as it approaches darkening the sky, yet still dozens of miles away barreling in fast like a looming apocalypse. At this point, all teleportation effects malfunction (Preventing use, causing backfire damage on the user equal to the effects level or the user's rank if no spell rank is applicable) and all speed effects are limited to 50m/s. Preventing escape. The only option now is to kill the beast before it kills you.
On the fourth boss roll, the head arrives and swallows all the characters and ships in its unavoidably huge maw that seems to engulf the world, stretching off to either horizon taking up the entirety of the view in the direction it arrives from.
Inside the serpent you have one last chance to defeat it. All characters will take H-rank equivalent damage per post as powerful acids dissolve them alive. If the Serpent is slain before everyone dies... you're probably still dead, but the job is considered a global success.
The entire siege on the World Serpent is observed by hovering observation lacrima that broadcast the event throughout Earthland.
If the job is failed and everyone dies with the World Serpent still living, the dead characters CANNOT under any circumstances be resurrected through plot means or Sacred Altar alike.
They are permanently gone, the deific nature of the World Serpent consuming their existence.
(All items, slots, magic, rank, ect, are all still there OOC for a new character however. IC positions of Wizard Saint or MC or so on need to be re-earned, but slayer or CS position can remain for the player's next character unless they wish otherwise)
See Challenge Bonus for information on slaying it but everyone dying anyway due to cutting it too close.
Serpent Health:
18,750HP
Reward:
New Forum Location unlocks under the Wakusei Portals: Beyond the Blue
Every participating player gets to design 1 Location within Beyond the Blue.
Every participating player gets to design that location's ruler as a playable NPC in their control, and could design a PC Character relevant to that location (As could anyone from then on as normal).
Location and Ruler NPC need to be approved by staff to make sure it's not way too over the top, but otherwise should not be restrictive.
Challenge Bonus:
If everyone got Swallowed by the World Serpent but still killed it before everybody is dead, all those characters can return via the Sacred Altar as normal.
When they do, they resurrect with the ability once per topic to summon a glyph that bares the likeness of the World Serpent. That glyph then passes over their body and completely heals them (Similar to the Phoenix Feather job reward). This also happens to be a valid IC excuse for them resurrecting in the first place (Though using Sacred Altar OOC)
