Women and Vulcans Part 1

Job Info:

The spooky forest would be much less spooky once Mei arrived. Aiyana had gotten there a little bit ahead of schedule, having ran the whole way after finding out she didn't need to breath. It was strange not having to worry about your lungs, though she did find herself still breathing out of pure, human, habit. She was pretty sure it would always be that way, as she didn't want to act like her body was no longer human, especially with the problem she had realized on the last two jobs.

In fact, that was why she had invited the lava bodied girl to join her on this. If she could work the nerve to talk about her current situation, and the god was okay with it, the nine tailed fox was going to make an attempt at a contract to simply allow herself access back to the celestial realm. The mage trapped in a celestial body was running out of time, and was worried she would fade completely before even this job was over at the rate it had kept going. It had started on her job with her friends and Zack, but over the last few days after it parts of her had started fading at random; showing an extreme case of magical power drain. If she didn't do something soon she may not even be alive by tomorrow morning!

Nothing was spooky about this forest, at the worst it was just a nightmare for one's clothes, and less for ones mind. Perhaps Mei was just jaded or had seen worse in her time, but seriously why was this place called spooky? Should just be called ignorance makes it scary, but Mei supposed that didn't have a good ring to it at all, so spooky forest it is. Still Aiyana wanted to beat up a bunch of monkeys, Mei got that Aiyana's love life was pretty bad so far, but really not all men were monkies. Maybe Mei was just looking into it in the dumbest way possible, she tended to do that from time to time. Maybe it was just the fact that she had a wild imagination, or it was her pure lack of caring, oh well it didn't matter, Mei was finally getting near where Aiyana was, and could finally breathe a little easier. At least she would get a few answers about this job choice.

"Hey Aiyana, why did you choose this job out of all of them? I mean I love to punch things in the face as much as the next, but it doesn't seem like the type of thing you like to do that often. Violence isn't your strong suit, so what's up, the monkey's steal your food or something... if they did they should be punished, since stealing food is a horrible sin but, well you don't seem that petty, not like me anyway."

It wasn't much longer before Mei showed up, questioning the bandaged mage's decision on the job she had picked out for them today. The young woman tried to think clearly for a moment, the panic in her mind not quite showing on her face as she blanked for but a single moment, her grouped up tails wiggling slightly before she began to speak. ”Well, I wanted to go on a job I thought you would enjoy! You love punching things, and the vulcans have been stealing food!” Her excuses and reasoning were obviously wrong, Mei was sure to know that, but she had no other idea on what else to say. Her own life was at stake and she couldn't even tell one of her best friends, what was wrong with her?

A hand would go behind her back as she turned her face to look deeper into the woods they were to be going into. ”We should get going though. Don't want to let those Vulcans steal any more than they have already.” The young woman didn't move from that spot, and nor did the hand behind her back. If Mei were to walk around she would find the hand faded, like a celestial spirit running out of magic power; which she was.

Well the idea of doing something that Mei liked was quite an interesting one, it had been a long time since she had seen a job that fit her tastes so fully, in fact it was too perfect... what the heck was going on right now, Aiyana never did anything Mei wanted to do, this was all full of crap, and Mei wasn't going to have any of it. She knew Aiyana and this meant that something was very wrong with her, clearly Aiyana hadn't been eating her one meal a day of a rice cracker, or hadn't washed her clothes this year. Clearly something was up and like any sane person, or rather, god, Mei would yell at Aiyana about it.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, Aiyana hold up, you know I would enjoy this job so that's why you invited me along? Sorry, not buying it, we never do anything I enjoy, at least not this perfectly. Something is up and you need to tell me what exactly is going on because you are never this kind to me. So I'm accusing you of being like me, incredibly selfish, not shellfish like others have called me, that's only on Wednesday nights and I think the guy's who work there are catching on that it's me eating the entire buffet."

Sighing Mei looked towards Aiyana and how she needed a hand, and frankly that was a bit strange.

"Also do you need to get a hand or something? Your's seems to be not of this world anymore."

The look on Mei's face was one that actually scared Aiyana, but not like before. This wasn't one of malice and blood shed, this was one of pure disappointment in something the celestial spirit was doing; or not doing. Her attempts to get out of explaining were rendered useless as the god before her began to basically tell her off, before she let loose the knowledge that she could, apparently, see through her to notice her faded hand. That was all it took for Aiyana's pitiful defenses to fail as her face began to tear up, tails drooping and unwinding from each other in a defeated posture.

"It turns out that the celestial body came with all the drawbacks that come with the usual summons of them. My magic power is almost out, it has been since that job for the bikini!" All of the pent up frustration and depressive thoughts of her own death were flooding out to someone she had grown close to, more so than the standard person she called a 'friend.' "I was a bit selfish, but I need help or I'm going to die and couldn't think of how to do it. The only way to save myself is making a contract and getting back to the Celestial Realm." There, she had said it! The bandage mage needed to make a contract with another mage to spare her own life. All she needed was to be able to head back for mere moments so she could regain the magical power that kept her spirit body alive.

Well, Aiyana's attitude took a one-eighty in half a second. It would explain quite a bit, and how it would lure Mei out of hiding or get her to leave her normal duties for a little while. Thankfully Mei knew enough about spirits to at least know they would die without a contract, but frankly Mei hadn't given it much thought, she believed that Aiyana was at least a little bit human right? Perhaps not, frankly it had crossed her mind at one point but now it just seemed to make sense why Aiyana was acting so strange, and not just about the different body, but by possibly dying. Normally Mei would make a few sarcastic notions towards Aiyana and then agree to do a contract, but not this time, since Mei knew exactly what it meant to be forced to have a contract with someone in order to stop yourself from fading away or dying, and that wasn't a joking matter for her.

"Aiyana, I won't beat around the bush this time, I know that was very hard to admit that you need someone else to stay alive, believe me, I know. I just wish that you could make a contract with someone else other than this selfish god with no purpose anymore. Hopefully, it's enough till you find someone else that's better for the position, and is far stronger than I, and I don't mean in terms of physical strength."

Tipping her hat to hide her eyes, Mei didn't want Aiyana to see such a sad look in them. Mei had been in a position similar to this long ago, back when everything went south for her and all those who were following her. A lack of faith, lack of magic? It was all the same thing in the eyes of those who need it to survive. Sighing slightly Mei recovered her composure long enough to realize something.

"So how does one form a contract with a spirit? I've only locked a few away, never made a contract with them, or is it different for everyone? Some special thing that has to be worked out on the spot."

The mage known as Mei, and one of Aiyana's best friends, proved how much she cared for the fading spirit as she spoke. A tipped hat left the abandoned god's eyes hidden from view, though the Sabertooth mage was not paying that close attention to the physical aspects of the person in front of her for once. This was going to happen, the contract, and now she had to tell the woman before her how it was supposed to work out.

"It's not hard," words strained from the weak feeling mage as she began her quick tutorial of what they needed to do. "normally the spirit is summoned through a key and then the mage makes a contract with them by figuring out what they can and can not do with that specific celestial spirit. All the way from days allowed, to even what situations. I'll do anything for you in return for this, a life for a life. Unless you really mean what you said, and then I'll let you know when I've found someone you might allow to call me their spirit to summon."

The words flowed quickly, though not too fast as to keep from being understood. Sadly, before both of them, the woman's arm slowly faded out of existence like the very same hand had done mere minutes before; the worried look on her face growing ever deeper as she looked into the eyes of her friend. This felt almost dirty, even more so than if she had asked for some kind of immoral act and using this job as the bribe to bring it along. Maybe it was just because of how she was, never really asking of others and doing stuff for them in turn. Her magic was always defending others, or holding opponents in place so that others could deal with them easier. Even her new body helped out with that, being naturally resistant to damage. But needing someone else to do something for her, when she was so used to being the independent one? Heresy!

"I don't want your life, I could never be so cruel anymore as to wish for it."

Mei stated a bit somber, her age being spoken in her words, or maybe it was her small wisdom and sadness. Aiyana didn't realize it yet, but she wasn't human anymore, she was something else, and that Made Mei become nervous. Aiyana probably didn't understand the gravity of it all, beyond the fact that she was going to disappear, which meant that the poor girl was in for a wicked surprise when her eightieth birthday rolled around all of her other friends were dead, or close to it. Still Mei didn't want to bring that up, as it was a cruel thing to say, no matter how much of a reality it would become in the future.

"Well any day is normally good for me right? Pick ones you like, and those are the only ones I'd try to summon you on I guess? Honestly, I don't really care, so any day would work. Finding another is important, though, you don't want me holding your life in your hands, nor anyone like me, I'm selfish by nature as I said before, the only reason I don't come across as such, well as much, because of my age, and experience.

I'd have to say a contract this important, almost seems like a union between two, so maybe you should get your love life in order huh?"

Mei was a totally different person when things got serious. It was a good thing to know that one could trust their friends with serious issues, such as death. A warmth filled her as Mei came up with details for their contract, basic ones to keep it simple, with many of it being Aiyana's choice in it. The days available is what was asked of her, and that was basically it. The rest of the words from her friend were ones about 'not owning her life in any way' and then ones about about her love life and comparing the contract to such.

"Uh, I guess we could do Monday through Friday you can summon me at any time. Let's me do whatever I want on the weekends and I'm sure you won't be summoning that often anyway with how you feel about this." With the days mentioned, Aiyana blushed slightly while thinking about the last thing her newly transferred Sabertooth Guild friend spoke aloud. "I....uh...I've been thinking a lot about Zack from our last job. I don't know why but I keep feeling like I should get into contact with him, to see him again, more often that just another time." With that she turned away as she flushed an even darker red than she already was; the heat in her face making her sweat slightly as her mind flashed images of Zack from their previous bout to find a magical bikini.

"Anyways! Since that's all you wanted, I approve of this contract!” Focusing all the magical power she could muster, the nine tailed fox looked at Mei and thought on the contract they were binding. Mei would feel something appear in her hand, a key with an image of nine tails on the handle of it, before the woman disappeared from sight.

It was all over in a flash, and Mei even got to see that Aiyana was interested in someone. That was a good thing, Mei didn't want Aiyana to be left in the dark, especially if they were stuck like she was for, well, ever. Perhaps it was at moments like this that Mei didn't want to be cynical, and instead look at the positives of life, she had a key to Aiyana, which was interesting, she didn't know how this thing fully worked, but apparently she could summon her, and it was fancy gold key too, very interesting, perhaps this meant that Mei had the key to Aiyana's heart. Mei shuddered at that fact, it was just, no she didn't want that, she'd just view it as a key that let her summon Aiyana, and that is about it. Frankly Mei didn't even know what to summon Aiyana for, she had to deal with her enough already, why would she want to deal with her more than normal!

Then a thought occurred to her, why in the world was Mei out here again, it was something about dealing with food right? She didn't quite remember, it was a little bit too far removed from her mind, after all the heavy drama that had just happened. it was then that she heard a faint noise in her ear, it was approaching from behind her? Maybe she should have paid attention, but as she looked towards the ground in front of her and a Vulcan was lying on the ground in a bit of pain from the whole magma thing, it clicked in mei's head.

"Oh yeah, I came here to beat you guy's up."

Turning around she noticed quite a bit of them looking towards her, and she smiled a bit. This was going to be interesting, she hadn't really punched one all that much before, so it was a new experience.

'Monster Dice' :

A blink of her eyes would reveal a world she could only have dreamed of; the Celestial Realm where all the spirits lived. Sadly, it was not an good moment. "You were banished from this realm! How did you manage to make it back!" A loud, rumbling, voice reached her ears with such loudness that it made her jump and turn to face who was speaking: the Celestial Spirit King. Fox ears would droop in defeat, tails falling completely down, as the woman prostrated herself in fear before she spoke up.

”I am not the one that was banished. I was a mage sent out to stop this spirit from causing chaos after getting banned, and she swapped me into this body upon her death. I made a contract to keep myself from dying, and wish your forgiveness for doing such!” There was no other way to handle this, for before her was what was considered the god of the realm.

”Interesting...I've never had a situation such as this pop up in my realm. A new mind for the Spirit of the Nine Tailed Fox. What is your name, young one?” The question was not one for introductions, but of sentencing and deciding.

”Aiyana...I see...With the special case involving your current situation, I see no point in punishing you for the acts of another. I give you full access to this realm, as your very survival depends on it.” The woman's heart skipped a beat as she looked up at the king of the realm with a grateful look upon her face.

”Thank you so much! I will make sure I follow the rules when under contract, unlike my predecessor!” With a nod from the spirit king he was gone, Aiyana left to herself as she focused on sending herself back to the human realm so she could get back and thank Mei for all she had done! A blink of an eye later she would find herself looking at the most ridiculous scene she could have returned to. What in the name of the Spirit King is going on here?”

It had been a good hour since Aiyana had left, a few of the Vulcans had fallen by the wayside, and Mei now held one within her hand, the big scary boss Vulcan and all of his remaining buddies, all 4 of them were now running away in a circle from mei, as she grasped the Vulcan in her hand by the neck and repeatedly beat it in the face.

"Come back here you damn dirty apes!"

Mei screamed as she chased after them. To any onlookers the scene would probably represent a Monty python sketch scene or something, but nope this was just what was happening, a bunch of monkies were running away from Mei in a circle as she chased them down and tried to smack them in the face. One of them was currently now dead in her hand, as she dropped it down to the ground and kept chasing after them, she could have fired off a spell but she was having fun chasing them, because she didn't do this very often, at least in this silly of a way.

Sighing a bit Mei gave Aiyana a bit of a glance before speaking.

"Bind them with your bandages, so then I can punch them in the face! They tried to throw poop at me, and they must pay for their crimes!"

The time difference was something she had completely forgotten about. If she was gone for a few minutes that meant she was actually gone for...an hour? AN HOUR?!? Mei had been here, on her own, fighting all the vulcans on her own. Not that her friend actually cared about being left alone on this kind of job; it was her favorite kind after all. She had gone right to work in punching everything in the face, even to the point of scaring away the others as she stood there in awe and surprise; her mouth dropping open slightly as she stared wide eyed at the stupidity in progress.

She watched a bit longer as Mei chased them around, yelling at them in her own special way, before asking for Aiyana's assistance in catching the last five that were being chased by the lava goddess. ”All right! One batch of vulcan's coming up!” The speedy mage quickly ran forward, getting within range to use her magic, before spinning in a circle to throw out bandages in the direction of the 'filthy apes.' All of them would find themselves bandaged, unable to move or attack so long as Aiyana could keep hold of all the bandages she had on her; which left her motionless as well due to the large amount she was keeping bound in place. ”All right Mei! All up to you now!” At this point she just wanted to see what her Sabertooth friend would do to these poor, stupid, creatures.

"No... please!"

The Vulcan boss screamed as Mei ran up to them and started to laugh a little bit. Smacking her fist into an open hand, Mei cracked her knuckles a bit and then followed up with an even bigger laugh.

"No... you.... big... dumb... lady!"

"What the heck did you say to me you little dumb ape, I'm going to smack you in the face for the sheer thrill of it!"

Mei was mostly doing this for the job and because they tried to throw poop at her, she actually didn't care about hurting any kind of creature, that just wasn't a part of her nature. Still she had to sound intimidating right, or else everything would simply be wasted, and would be to no avail. Coming down upon his head Mei smacked him, and then Smacked him again, and then again, and then suddenly whipped out her bow and arrow and then opened fire upon the last four of them, and caused a nice explosion. It took up a bit of her magic, but it finished them off with nothing remaining, which meant that there wouldn't be any more problems for the locals, that and Mei could rest a little easy. Seriously she was still a little salty over the fact of the Vulcans trying to throw mountains of poop at her earlier.

"Well that takes care of that, I suppose we can just go ahead and return back to base with a job well done, and you not going to die from lack of magical power. Drinks on me because I just had a huge stress relief and feel generous."

Aiyana should have been terrified. She should have felt bad for the vulcans about to get thrashed. But after they called Mei stupid the nine tailed fox spirit knew they were done for. Add trying to throw poop at her and she could understand the anger her friend had towards them. A threat would be made before the lava goddess let loose her assault, a barrage of smacks on the boss of the food thieves before a bow and arrow showed up. 'Uh oh, here we go!' That would be the only thought on her mind before she withdrew her bandages before it was too late, the poor apes being caught in a explosion that would leave not a trace of them to be found; lava eating up what would have been remaining.

With that Mei would turn to her and mention going home, bringing up how she would no longer die soon and that drinks were on her. Aiyana's eyes would light up, the mix of the three a feeling she had not felt in a while; cheer. Not only had she gotten a contract, at least for the time being, she had managed to get the job done successfully and still got to drink with her friend and hang out after. ”Thanks again, for everything. Now let's get out of here and get those drinks. I could use a few after everything that has happened the last few weeks.” The two would walk back, the woman too cheap to pay for fare, the spirit beaming a smile the entire time.
