Name: Reyna H. Basterbine
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Birthday: July 17th
Sexuality: Bisexual
Special Characteristics: N/A
Personality: When not doing battle, Reyna H. Basterbine is more than sociable. Upbeat and affable, she prefers the company of others over solitude and puts on an air of ineffable camaraderie. Throughout her life, she has learned the benefits of loyalty, respect, and honesty. These three things, though they tend to mix well, arise in ways that most would consider "unexpected." Reyna has no problem telling an acquaintance that they reek of burnt liquor or that they have a grating personality, regardless of her own faults. Quick to speak but slow to trust her comrades, Reyna accepts that people will either find her personality interesting and flock to her, or flee from the abrasive edges of her less pleasant side.
It is for this reason that once Reyna trusts a comrade their bond becomes exceptionally hard to break.
Reyna has a generally cheerful disposition and considers herself an eternal optimist. A chaser of truths and a pursuer of curiosities, Reyna treats every mystery like an adventure and every secret like a treasure waiting to be discovered. She has a fondness for books and is exceptionally literate, though never in anything particularly useful.
In most situations, Reyna refuses to compromise the fact that she is an energetic individual. This part of her personality stretches through even the most arduous of tasks, like when studying her magics or entering combat with an enemy.
Maintaining an almost business-casual air of nonchalance, Reyna isn't averse to having conversations with her opponents in the middle of a battle, and often makes bad jokes in order to diffuse the tension of the situation.
This childlike personality of hers does, however, have a number of downsides. Reyna is terrible at dealing with loss and terrible at focusing her anger. Though she is typically pleasant and cheerful, Reyna's dark side is one that few wish to see. When pushed too far, she regresses to an infant-like state of rage and fear. Shutting herself down entirely, Reyna deals with betrayal and anger by repressing it as hard as she possibly can, leading to cracks that show in the foundation of her outermost facade -- and trills of fear that echo in every laugh.
Furthermore, Reyna has a very strong sense of justice. If Reyna feels she has been betrayed or that an opponent (or even comrade) has broken one of her moral tenets, she will not hesitate to dish out whatever punishment she deems appropriate. In most cases, Reyna issues justice with the broad side of her scimitar or with the sheath on her waist.
Perhaps because of her innocent personality, Reyna has a deep loathing for all things formal and serious that she, herself, has not assigned a mental weight to. She hates press attention and is prone to anxiety in front of large crowds, making events like tournaments and public speaking into elaborate slayings of mental monsters that she typically cares not to attempt. To Reyna, the best speech to give is a short one. Despite this, she views life as a grand play where fate is decided by the strongest performance.
Likes:
- Architecture! Reyna likes drawing up building designs in her spare time. They're all terrible, but that hardly matters.
- Classic Humor! What kind of mage gives the worst hickeys? A neckromancer! Classic, right?
- Adventure Romance Novels! A sucker for romance, Reyna loves both adventuring and reading about adventuring. She's kind of a sweetheart. Y'know, when she's not about to violently injure somebody.
- Sleep! Don't wake her up. Seriously, just let her sleep. She's a Grumpy Gosette when someone interrupts her scheduled nap.
Dislikes:
- Cooking - Reyna can't cook and really doesn't like trying.
- Cold Weather - There's nothing worse than having a chill in the air. Sure, she has a neat cape, but who wants to have to use it?
- Children - They're loud and mean. She'd never steal candy from a baby, but a baby would probably steal candy from her... and that's all that matters.
- Rudeness - Honestly, you probably shouldn't stare at someone's chest. Or say that they don't have one -- that's just inconsiderate, even if true.
Motivations:
- Justice - Reyna strongly believes in justice, both literal and karmic. If she were ever to believe that there were no justice, she would probably fail to see the point in doing good or controlling herself.
- Loyalty to Others - Reyna values those that are loyal to her and those that she considers herself loyal to. Bonds cannot and should not be broken. No matter how far someone goes down the wrong road, they need only to turn back.
- Victory - Life is a game, and there can be only one winner. Reyna is determined not to be a loser.
Fears:
- Stage Fright - Reyna is terrified of large crowds. Seriously, don't make her recite a speech or say her thoughts into a microphone. Half of the time you'll just get embarrassed stuttering and fierce blushing. Sometimes she'll just swear.
- Isolation - Despite her own acceptance of her flaws, Reyna absolutely hates being alone. Her deepest fear is being cast into the abyss, lightless and alone.
- Iguanas - They're just creepy. There's not much else to say here.
- Darkness - On top of hating being alone, she's also afraid of the dark. Nobody likes the dark, or the creepy little pyreflies that sulk in the shadows like pieces of glowing thread embroidered into black velvet.
General Appearance
Height: 5'5
Weight: 110lbs
Hair: Carbon colored hair, worn long, with frayed ridges framing the face.
Eyes: Steely blue.
Skin Tone: Pale white. Almost like milquetoast.
Appearance: To some, Reyna H. Basterbine looks more like a ghost than a fierce judiciary. Sporting smooth skin and dark hair, Reyna graces the battlefield like an angel of death, ready to bless the fallen with a final touch of gloved mercy.
Her typical outfit consists of bright white combat boots and a matching skirt (which extends to the middle of her thighs), with an admiral's jacket and cap to cover her torso. A fine, phantom-colored cape typically falls over her shoulders and acts as a makeshift cloak in chilly weather. In warm weather, a shorter cropped cape typically falls from her shoulders to the ends of her elbows, allowing her the freedom of motion she needs to properly enter combat at a moment's notice.
A mane of flowing ink cascades down to offset the crisp white cloth of her cape and jacket, leading up to a gold-rimmed cap that casts a ray of shade over her sharp face. Beneath the shadows lurk a pair of shark-like eyes, ready to acquire new prey or showcase the typically upbeat woman's wrath.
